Imogen POV
Chapter 3: We have our things
He is totally gonna die in that meeting. I don't usually do much around the castle, but today I'm helping with the laundry. It doesn't seem like the best job for a future queen to do, but I enjoy it. The people who work are really nice and kind, I now realize why I was a servant. To be nice to more important people, I can see the fake look on their faces. Though I am not going to scold them or tell them if they are doing it right, I bet they are afraid of me. I started to put the laundry in a basket but the assistance insisted that I don't. So I left, feeling bored. If Jaron were here he would go on a crazy adventure then almost get killed, I would scold him but it would only turn to love. I ran into Amarinda who gave me a huge hug.
"Oh my god hi Imogen, how are you?"
"I'm good Amarinda, though bored. Um, so has marriage worked out for you? Do you regret anything?' I regretted those words. Amarinda took a step back then nodded hesitantly.
"It's fine Imogen, um...just...perfect. Why are you…" She saw my hand. "Oh my goodness! That's why you were asking!"
"Shh, Jaron doesn't want anyone to know."
"Then why are you wearing the ring, I mean it's pretty obvious?"
"I'm wearing it because I love it and it's pretty, besides, if I take it off Jaron will be sad."
Amarinda sighed then pulled me along, "are you gonna tell everyone today?"
"I don't know, I don't think so."
"Anyway, how did he propose?" Truth was, I didn't want to tell her, even though she was my best friend. This was special to me, and I will tell her, but I want to soak it in first. "I see, I totally understand. Come on, let's go get some breakfast."
Breakfast, I completely forgot about breakfast! All I was thinking about was Jaron. I just want him to be with me. I know it sounds silly but I just couldn't do anything else.
Breakfast was a fried egg, toast, and some hash browns. Though soon after, Amarinda had to go work with the organization of the helpless. Basically Amarinda helps the unfortunate or poor people of our Country. Soon I will do that, once Jaron and I are married. After Amarinda left I headed to the Royal Library. I read a book about hardships, and how to deal with them. Not that interesting one might think, but I loved it. I read so much I didn't even notice that it was past lunch. A maid brought in my meal and put it on the table by me.
"Thank you!" I said, hoping she would hear.
She turned and said, "You are most welcome." She closed the door on the way out.
I ate the salad and soup and put the book in my shoulder bag. Since Jaron and I were in such a hurry we never cleaned up our room. I started to walk back to our bedroom when Tobias crossed my path.
"Hi there Imogen, I'm glad to run into you."
"Hi Tobias, why did you want to run into me?"
"Amarinda has been rather quiet and doesn't really want to talk. I was wondering if you knew about any problems or such. I'm starting to get worried..." He said, fidgeting with his fingers.
"Um, she didn't tell me anything, we talked this morning and everything was fine." Even I was starting to worry. He glanced to my side, then his eyes got bigger.
He smiled then said,"I knew that it would happen one day. I'm really happy for you and Jaron." After he walked away I realized what he meant by that, Jaron was gonna kill me.
When I approached the room I could already see it was a mess. Jarons towels were all over the bathroom. Even my shoes were scattered. I put the towels on a hook, put both of our other supplies away, straightened my shoes, and glanced over at the closet. No, I told myself. I was almost done making the bed when something fell out. Jaron's journal. I picked it up quickly, stroking the light brown fabric that covered it Jaron knew I would find it, the first words that greeted me were: Don't think about it. I looked behind me and saw Jaron. I burst out laughing and he came over to me and gave me a big hug.
"I love you," I said.
"I love you too Imogen."
Jaron POV
A little while later…
I walked out to the gardens. There was a huge fountain in the middle of the yard. Stone pathways went in all directions leading to a different adventure. Darius used to come out here with me, when, when he was still here. He used to be so fun, so nice. I've told Imogen about my family, about how my father disliked me, how Darius was the favorite, and how my mother loved me more than Darius. Strange that the second son would be the favorite of a mother. The hedges cut and trimmed perfectly. The stone pathway staggered, leading into multiple directions. There was a hedge in the back, that was shaped as a knight, tall and strong. I started making my way there when behind me, doors opened. I bolted behind the knight, making no noise. Imogen stood there looking around, probably for me. She continued, walking towards the knight, gracefully brushing her finger over the stone and lush greenery all around. When she was close enough I grabbed her waist, twisting her around to face me, and kissed her. Her arms wrapped around my neck and our foreheads pressed together. I pulled back and opened my eyes, her arms still around my neck. Her smile was gentle, and I can't help but smile back at her.
I fold her hands in mine, "Do you like sand?" I asked her.
"I love anything if I'm with you." She said, the first time that she had said that.
"You know I love you, and I would do anything for you, right?"
"...I know you would…" Her voice trailed off, sadness in the last part.
