Jaron POV
I woke up to the sunshine pouring through the window. Just kidding, I woke up to rain. I quickly washed my face and put on a green outfit. Green is Imogen's favorite color. I walked down the halls, turned directions, and greeted the staff. I got whispers in return. When I gave them a questioning look they looked down immediately in fright and scurried away.
"Excuse me? Why are you all looking away from me?"
A middle-aged woman spoke up (thank god) "I'm sorry your highness, but we did not want to insult your hairdo."
I looked in the nearest mirror on the wall, "Oh, it seems I have forgotten to comb my hair. Thank you for your concern." I walked away and turned another corner, and another, and another.
I don't even know what I was doing. This castle is a maze and I'm trying to get lost in it. With another corner that I turned I found a closet.
*Crying noises*
"Hello? Who's in there?" I got silence in return. "I'm gonna open the door okay?" Only silence. The creak of the door startled the silence as I heard a gasp.
"Your highness please don't see me like this." It was the young girl in the laundry room.
"What is your name?" I inched closer as I wiped her tears from her face.
"Elenor, your majesty." She began to sob again.
"Why are you crying?"
"She's gone." Her crying began to get louder even as she covered her mouth with her hands.
"Who's gone?"
She ignored my question, "I overheard their conversation and I tried to stop her after, but she said it was for the best. She said that you needed to focus." She had to gasp for air in between sobs.
"Who is 'she'?"
She paused and looked up at me dead in the eyes, though more tears were spilling out. "You didn't know?"
"Know what?"
"Imogen. She left early this morning. She's gone." My eyes widened and I got up and ran to her room as fast as I could.
The bed was neatly made, curtains open, closets and doors shut. Nothing was out of place, and nothing of Imogen's was there.
She was gone.
Fink's POV (I know a new POV, yay!)
"Do do do do, ba ba boo da doo" I hummed as I walked down the halls. I turned a corner and heard a thump. "Hello?" I said and turned around back down the hallway.
"She's really gone…"I heard someone say.
"Helloooooo?" I looked in a room, nothing. Another, nothing, and another and saw nothing. Across the hall I saw a shadow in Lady Imogen's quarters. "Anyone there?" I said while entering. "Oops." I almost tripped over Jaron, who was on his knees crying. "Why are you-?" I looked around the room. "Oh my god."
"WHO DID THIS?" He shouted, stood up, and pushed me back.
"Owwww, that hurt Jaron." I rubbed my shoulder.
"You will not address me as such! Now answer the question!"
"Woah calm down there! I just found out now, I don't know who did it, but maybe it was her decision?"
"What did you say?"
"Never mind. I just don't know."
"But I know who might." He ran off in another direction.
A staff member was watching around the corner and we made eye contact. "He's gonna hurt whoever he's thinking of huh?" They just nodded. "Well shit, gotta go fast!" I said and ran in the direction Jaron went.
*Sorry for the bad word lol, I just thought that was something Fink would say.*
Once I found him he was towering over a closet.
"DID YOU DO THIS?"
A gentle yet fragile voice responded. "No, I did not your majesty." Her voice sounded tired and strained.
"DO YOU KNOW WHO DID?"
"No! I just overheard a conversation. I don't know who was responsible!"
"I know you aren't telling me everything! Tell me the truth or I'll make you!" He made a dangerous gesture towards her.
"Please, I don't know anything! PLEASE DON'T HURT ME!"
He was about to grab her when I stepped in between them. "OKAY CALM DOWN! That is clearly not the way to go about this!'
"NO! SHE'S GONE!"
"IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT YOU GET TO TAKE OUT YOUR ANGER ON SOMEONE INNOCENT AS SHE IS!" I looked back as more tears streamed down her face. Damn she was pretty.
He looked at me with pure anger, but it slowly dissolved. He sighed, "You're right. I'm sorry Elenor, I should not have acted like this and I'm sorry if I scared you. You know I just-"
"I know you love Imogen more than life itself Jaron, save me the speech," I laughed, "But you are forgetting the people who also love you, you need to remember them. I know Tobias and Amarinda are going through a tough time right now, though I don't know the details. I know Mott feels like you don't notice him anymore. I also know Roden is hurt that you blew up at him, he thinks that you are forgetting everyone and everything around you. He thinks that your whole world is based around Imogen-"
"Well screw him. He doesn't know a thing."
"Really? I thought that he came up with a lot of good strategies…"
"I don't give shit about him okay? Don't mention him."
"Why Jaron?"
"Not another word about him, this conversation is over!"
I stayed silent as I saw someone behind him. "Um, Jaron?" I pointed to the figure behind him.
Jaron turned around and saw Roden staring at him with wide eyes and quickly turned around and ran down the hallway. All Jaron said was "Shit."
Jaron stormed off at the sight of Roden.
"You okay? Elenor's the name right?" I said, reaching my hand out to help her get up. She just hugged her legs and started crying again. I kneeled down by her and took her hands in mine. "I know the feeling. Angry Jaron is scary as heck, but don't let him get to you. I like to think of him as a spiky teddy bear. The spikes are an allusion and he's just a teddy bear. You just need to get on his good side-"
"..." He inhale is sharp. "I've...I've never, never seen him like this." She looked up at me and squeezed my hands really hard. "I thought he was going to kill me." More tears kept coming.
"He wouldn't do that."
"You're right. He would have hurt me though if you didn't step in right then."
I breathed in quickly, "You're right. He would have hurt you, but he would wake up from his madness and realize what he did. He would never forgive himself after it though."
"Thank you. Thank you for saving me-"
"Don't mention it."
"No, I need to. No one has saved me from getting hit before. They normally just...look and look away…" Her voice trailed off.
"They beat you?" She nodded. "I'll have to make sure that's changed."
"Don't. They'll notice me more." I looked into her blue eyes as tears started to stream down once again.
I reached one of my hands out and wiped her tears away. Then I brushed a strand of her curled blonde hair out of her face and behind her ear. "Don't cry. If they ever hurt you, you can come to me okay?"
"I understand."
"Promise me you will come find me."
She inhaled, "I promise."
"Good. I gotta go check on Jaron. I'll see you around." I got up and helped her up as well.
She whispered a thanks and I walked off and turned right.
If only I had noticed the figure who was standing on the left.
Oh boy I wished I noticed him.
