A favorite animal of Ami Mizuno had always been cats. Ami believed that cats were brilliant, curious, and dependable animals who could be energetic and friendly whenever they wanted to be. Cats came to depend on their owners for water to drink in their water bowls and cat food to eat in their cat bowls and end up to have cat toys such as fake mice for them to play with. Their purring did indicate whenever they got affection or attention of their owners as they wanted to usually be petted by them. Ami ended up feeling that cats were able to accept them for who they were, become best friends with them, care about them, and do love them which were feelings that their owners would in return have for them. Cats she found were good ways of catching mice or rats or do kill insects such as ants that ended up getting into one's home.
Ami longed to have a cat of her own, but it was forbidden for her to have one in the apartment that she lived in with her mother Mizuno Saeko. Her friendships with the moon cats Artemis and Luna and their future daughter Diana had been nice as they accepted each other for who they were, believed in them, cared about them, and did love them. She came to see them as family.
Ami did remember how Luna had jumped on her when she had first met Tsukino Usagi. "I thought that she was an angel," she ended up saying much which flattered Luna. Feeling bad for her daughter not being able to own a cat or a dog from where they lived made her mother buy her a bowl with different kinds of fish in it to cheer her up.
"I am so sorry that you cannot own a cat or a dog where we live, Ami," her mother had said when she saw her daughter looking upset after she had confided in her that both her friends Aino Minako and Tsukino Usagi had cats for pets. "However, if you owned a cat you could not have fish as they would most likely eat them. It will remind you of your love of the ocean and how much you like dolphins."
"Thank you, Mom," she told her mother.
Every morning before school started she would feed her fish. Ami felt her mother was right. It got to be a small consolation for her to have fish as pets rather than a cat, but it gave her comfort to know that her mother tried to cheer her up.
Ami had the best mother in the entire whole world.
