After negotiating with the Ash's guards for a good 20 minutes it was agreed that Trick, Kenzi, and Dyson would travel in Trick's car in convoy with the guards, one car in front and one behind them.

The three cars pulled up in the gravel car park just behind the factory, which had been the site for all Fae trials since before the human sprawl had surrounded it.

Dyson opened the door, scenting the air before deciding there was little hope of being able to discern if there was an immediate threat or not, considering why they were here. He unfolded himself from the interior and then extended his hand to Kenzi. She rolled her eyes before placing her hand in his. Both knew she didn't need help to get out of the car but the physical contact between them soothed them both.

As Trick joined them, the guards the Ash and the Morrison from the other cars joined them. Dyson felt uneasy as they were surrounded by them, but it would only provoke both sides if he did anything about it.

"Step back would you Lovies…the wolf man is slightly tetchy about you being so close." Vex's voice carried through the throng of bodies. Vex came sauntering past them all to stand at Kenzi's left hand while Dyson stood at her right.

"'Ello pet," Vex said as her stepped in close to kiss her cheek. "Don't worry we've got you." he whispered in her ear. As he stepped away, he raised his voice, "Well you've caused quite a stir my lovely." Vex gave them both a smirk and a wink.

"Where's Tamsin?" Kenzi asked.

"All in good time my lovely," Vex responded rather mysteriously. "Shall we?" He motioned towards the open doorway.

Kenzi squared her shoulders and with Dyson moving in so close that she could feel the heat of him, they along with Trick, Vex and the guards marched through the opening into the darkness beyond.

A few steps into the interior and Kenzi could hear the crowd murmuring from within. A slight shiver ran through her, and she turned towards Dyson. His hand found hers before they took another step toward the growing hum of voices.

As they entered the open space where Kenzi has faced the trials nearly 24 hours ago, she looked around to see if she could find Bo, or Tamsin, or even Doc Hotpants would be a friendly face in this crowd. She could see the crowd above on the walkway, hear their muffled conversations but couldn't find anyone that she knew well. It was a crowd of unknowns.

The Ash and the Morrison stood together, surprisingly, surrounded by guards from both sides on the suspended walkway. Kenzi and her supporters came to a halt in the middle of the open space. As the noise swelled around them, the Doc made her entrance.

She came up to Kenzi as Dyson moved in closer to hear what she had to say. "Kenzi, I'm here. I don't know how much help or influence I can be but I'm here." Lauren grasped Kenzi's hand and gave a tight squeeze.

"We appreciate that, Lauren." Dyson said as Kenzi looked past her, searching for someone else.

"I don't know where she is." Lauren said looking into Kenzi's eyes. There was a slight shine to them. "It's ok," said Kenzi replied, "she'll…she'll come." her voice caught in her throat. Lauren nodded. "If...if things go bad Lauren, go, run, get out. It'll be dangerous for you."

Lauren gave Kenzi a weak smile, "It's no different for you and I'll be staying, that's what friends do."

"No, that's what a family does." corrected Kenzi. Dyson who had been listening to the two humans, smiled as they were still holding each other's hands. It was so different from the beginning of their relationship.

The Ash raised his hand and a silence descended on the gathered crowd. "Well, isn't that touching," he drawled as Kenzi and Lauren dropped hands. Kenzi turned her face up to look at him, her contempt for him masking her fear for the moment. Lauren moved to stand behind Vex.

Just as Trick stepped forward to speak on Kenzi's behalf the sound of beating wings filled the chamber. Tamsin landed just behind Kenzi. "I'm here Mom!" she said breathlessly, "I've brought some extras." Kenzi looked over her shoulder at Tamsin, who looked upward. Kenzi followed her gaze. There above them were a number of Valkyrie, unseen by anyone else.

"Thank you, Tam-tam."

"That's not all." she responded pointing towards Dyson. Kenzi swung her attention towards where Dyson was standing. Behind him, a wind gathered, swirled bits of paper, leaves danced in the air. As Kenzi watched as it grew taller, wider. It started to look like a human shape. It grew darker, more solid until she could make out the features. This time the tears did roll down her cheeks. "Hale!" Dyson turned in surprise to see his friend's form just behind him.

"Little Mama! D-man!" Hale said. They both took a faltering step towards him and then Kenzi was rushing towards him, only to stumbled through him.

"Woah, little mama! I'm not that solid. On this plane I'm just a wraith, you can't touch me…well not yet anyway." Hale exclaimed as he held up his hands like he was trying to stop her from falling.

"Hale…oh Hale," Kenzi breathed, the tears falling, "I'm sorry!"

Hale smiled and shook his head "I've been watching all of you." He looked at Dyson "It's all good my man, all good." He knew Dyson was wondering if he approved of Dyson and Kenzi being together.

"This is all rather touching but can we get back to the business at hand?" The Morrigan shouted down to the small gathering below. "I concur." the Ash responded in a lower voice. "Who is responsible for this human?" he called through the assembly.

Once again, a silence covered the gathering. Everyone was looking away from the little group, not wanting to make eye contact, like they would then be responsible for Kenzi. As she squared her shoulders to respond, the Ash called again "Who is responsible?" The chains rattled as his voice exploded through the air.

As Trick stepped forward ready to claim responsibility for her, Dyson growled out "I am!" A surprised murmur rose from the crowd. No one had expected Dyson to claim her, not knowing the turn of events after the trials. Even the Ash and the Morrigan were a little stunned.

The Ash narrowed his eyes at Dyson "So you are responsible for this human entering our world?" As Dyson stepped forward in front of her and opened his mouth to respond again another voice rang out "No I'm the one responsible!"

A collective gasp went up as everyone looked for who had spoken. Trick hid the small smile that had formed on his lips, Lauren did not. Dyson gave a soft growl of approval and Kenzi's head dropped as Bo stalked through the group below to stand next to her.
