"Luz can you come down here for A moment!"Edalyn Cawthorne yelled up the stairs to her Daughter.

"Ok, Eda...just let me finish reading King a bedtime story first!"Luz replied all the way up the steps.

Eda laughed: "fine...but it better not be that good Azura crud again!"She said with a knowing eyebrow raised.

Luz was silent for a moment before answering with obviously awkwardly sounding, "No...no of course!"Eda held back the urge to laugh.

A short time Later...

Eda and Luz opposite to each other on the 19th-century style couch in the living room-Luz immediately starting their conversation by quickly blurting out: "If this is about the egg accident...that was mostly Amity and willow's felt!" Eda laughed."No no this has to do with that...although I am still feeling the heat from Bump for that one!"Eda said beginning to rub the back of her head and upper neck.

"Oh," Luz said blushing sheepishly-Edalyn pulls the young witch in close to her and smiled."Luz-"Eda said before pausing hesitantly, "what is it mom?" the girl said with an...Eda winces a little at being called mom-even after Ten years the woman still was uncomfortable with the girl calling her 'mom'.

"Luz...do you remember when you asked me about your birth family?"Eda asked somewhat uneasy-The woman's mismatched colored eyes;Eda felt her heart break a little-Luz nodded affirmingly."yes?"

"...well get comfortable because it's kind of along story!"Eda said with a weakly smile.

Hello there everyone...it's taken me A little while but I'm back with another chapter of The Owl House Rewritten!

Luz is canonically 14 years old but for reasons relating to the sake of the story she is currently ten in this story...don't worry I intend to do A time skip so she matches her age on the show.

10 years ago...

The cold night air felt good against Eda Clawthorne's ivory skin as she flew across the darkened night sky-Eda looked down at the quiet-sleepy little town of Gravesfield below;Owlbert hooted and Eda immediately dove downward.

Landing at what appeared to be the sight of a very nasty looking car crash-the woman immediately hears what seemed to be a very small infant loudly crying in back seat of the vehicle-using her magic,Eda pried way the car door ;the owl lady discovers the source of the crying to be indeed a baby human trapped inside some sort of human trap that the tiny creature was disparately trying to escape from,(though in reality it was simply the infant's car seat)

Leaning slightly into the car-Eda could see the still and unresponsive form of the vehicle's driver slumping lifelessly over the dashboard;Eda did not give the dead woman much-the witch figuring that the woman was some human trapper that hunted her own kind for Food or whatever?

Eda quickly uses her magic to both carefully remove the small child from the vehicle and then release it from the car seat-the witch quickly scooping the infant up into her arms and not really sure what to do began gently bouncing the baby in her arms.

"There little uhh-"Eda did not know what to call the now cooing babe in her-though she was sure that the humans did use the same gender identifications as in the demon realm of He/him/his,she/her/her's and Non-binary."Heh will cross that bridge if we get to it...for now what should we do with you Hmm?" The witch said to the half sleeping baby in her arms- they were wearing a cute orange and white dog shaped hoodie that had small dog tag that had what Eda to be the child's name on it:"Luz?"Eda said reading the zipper.

"Huh I guess your name is Luz then!" Eda said lifting the child up high with the air.

Eda could feel her swiftly growing close to the child...despite knowing that she couldn't exactly take 'Luz' back home to the demon realm...but what else could she do? Eda Couldn't take Luz to a police station so that they could find any living relatives that could take care of them...and she really didn't want to leave the kid in an orphanage.

Eda sighed realizing that she really only had one option here-using a worse for ware blanket that found in the car to make shifted baby harness for the small infant -placing Luz into the harness and then quickly hopping back onto her broom stick and taking off into the night sky before anyone could get clear enough look at what wAs happening.

Sometime Later...

After arriving back on the boiling isles...and smuggling Luz into the demon realm with surprisingly little difficulty-arriving at her home-the 'Owl House' was a rather unimpressive and unassuming looking house like any other-Eda quickly checked the small bundle safe and secure...sure enough Luz was sound asleep in her makeshift baby harness.

Eda soon walked up-A kind of half worm-half owl like creature quickly springing from the window sized whole in the front door of the house.

"Hoot Hoot welcome home Eda!"The worm-like creature said before quickly wrapping itself around the owl Lady.

"Wow, easy there Hooty...I have precious cargo here and I don't need it getting squished to death!"Eda said wiggling free of the creature's tight embrace.

Eda quickly makes sure that Luz is alright:"...is that a baby?"Hooty asked twisting his very lengthy body to stretch over Eda's shoulder to catch a better glimpse at what the woman was hiding.

"Hooty come on!"The woman says quickly pushing the owl creature away.

Hooty gave the woman a very questioning at the rogue witch and asked:"hoot Eda you had a baby while you were away?"the owl like creature asked curiously eyeing Eda.

"Yes...at least that's what you'll tell anyone ask you about it!"Eda said suddenly remembering that she was still unaware of the child's gender...though a fowl coming from Luz's diaper was telling her that she would soon find out.

Back in the present...

Eda finishes telling her story to Luz...who now had a very contemplative expression on her young face as she awkwardly stared down at the floor.

Eda warmly places a hand on the young girl's shoulder and sincerely apologies for not telling Luz sooner rather than later.

Luz abruptly wrapped her arms around Eda's waist and said that it didn't matter if they weren't blood related:"you,Hooty,King...even Aunt Lilith...you guys are my family now and nothing will ever change that!"She says to Eda's relief and gratitude.

The owl Lady hesitated briefly before finally returning the hug."yeah... I know kiddo!"
