Chapter Fourteen: Unnerved

(Takuya's P.O.V, Two Months Later)

I stretched and yawned slightly, I was so glad that today was Friday since school was back in. School was, interesting to say the least. It took Kari a little while to get adjusted to our world and then a little while to make friends after what Lilithmon did to her. The one annoying thing about today is the fact that it was still morning and school hasn't even started yet.

"Takuya, did you do the homework last night?" I looked to one of my classmates, I tried to place his name but I couldn't.

"Yeah, Kari won't let me forget about my homework." He laughed slightly.

"Yeah I bet she wouldn't." Is it sad that he's one of my 'friends' and I can't even remember his name?

"What do you mean by that?" He just laughed more and gave me the 'you know' look.

I was over protective of Kari and she might as well be my real sister. Younger sister at that, she was born in November while I was born in August which made me older by a few months. I shook my head both to get the thoughts out of my head and to tell him that I didn't get it.

"She always hangs with the loner, when she's that desperate she probably has nothing better to do then homework." I glared at him, in that moment he both realized his mistake and I remembered both his name and why I stopped hanging out with him.

He's names Takeru and he was a bully who recently became a play boy. I remember a few days ago, when Kari first met him, she said he reminded her of someone in her world. I didn't really get to ask since she dodged it, she didn't want to tell us much about her friends from her world actually. She didn't seem to like Takeru but I didn't care since with him it's usually you love him or you hate him. Most girls like him though.

"She's my sister so shut up also for your information she's like that because her parents were killed." He seemed lost for words now so he turned away from and looked to the front.

I let out a sigh and glanced out the window. If this was how my day was gonna be I'll probably get into a fight by the end of the day. If I got annoyed this early in the morning it usually led to an annoying day where I would get into at least one fight, usually with Koji. I looked to where Koji was at that thought; he sat at his desk talking with Kari. Kari stays to herself usually but she's usually talking with Koji when they can, I'm just glad that she hasn't shut herself away like she had after Lilithmon attacked her.

"Class, can I have your attention." I looked to the teacher, thankful that I was brought out of my thoughts.

"First off whoever took Ms. Kanbara's book bag give it back to her." I looked to Kari who seemed annoyed by her missing backpack, when we began school she asked to go by Kari Kanbara which my parents allowed since she has been adopted by my family.

No one moved and I don't think they were going to either. Kari's been the target of bullying which wasn't helping her much but no one really messes with her that badly because well Koji scares most off. Another thing about hanging out with Koji all of time that made me happy that she hung out with him. After a few moments Koji's mood darkened and well he stood up the teacher was going to tell him to sit down but Takeru let out a very girly squeak, which made me laugh, he grabbed Kari's book bag and gave it back, apologize and then got far from Koji who had sat back down. Even if he had sat back down he still had his arms cross and you could tell he was annoyed.

"Second, you have detention for stealing her book back Takeru." He groaned and he just let his head fall onto the desk and he groaned.

"Third, we have a new student." Hm, well that's interesting.

I wonder who the new student? We don't usually get transfer students considering not many get into the advanced class. Yes I'm in the advanced class, something that Zoe joked that I would never be in. That day was funny actually, she said I would never see an advanced class but her face was priceless when I told her that I've been in the advanced classes since the sixth grade. It hurt when I found out that she thought that I was stupid but I got over it. Yeah I got over it just like I got over her. The door opened and my jaw dropped.

"I would like you guys to welcome Chrono Aleksander." The girl standing there was the white haired and red eyed girl from two months ago.

She had a smile on her face and her white hair wasn't pulled back into the ponytail it had been two months ago. Her hair reached a little past her waist and her red eyes seemed to give off an innocent weak vibe but from what I saw two months ago she's anything but weak. She wore a light blue t-shirt and black cargo pants. I glanced at Kari and Koji; they had a similar reaction as to mine. Why was she here?

"How about you tell the class about yourself some?" I watched she bit her lip and looked down.

"W-well I just came from America…" How she was acting unnerved me slightly.

When I last met her she was nowhere this shy. She's not weak either which made me wonder if she's only like that in the Digital World. Then again there is a chance that this isn't the girl that we met; there is a chance that she's this world's Chrono, if she in then they were different for sure. I was brought out of my thoughts when she moved, my eyes followed her though as she went to her seat. She sat beside Kari while Koji sat behind Kari.

"Ok so as many of you guys have been waiting for today is the Fall Festival so the classes are shortened while later on you'll find out the actives." I smiled another thing that makes today so good.

Today was the Fall Festival which means all of the usual nearly hour long classes were shortened to about twenty some minutes. The Festivals usually included some games and presentations. Yet the fun thing was you got to choose what you did well as long as you don't have any detentions or didn't get in trouble.

"I'm gonna be nice to, since I was out sick for the weak I forgot to plan something for today so just be quiet and you can talk amongst yourselves." This day just keeps getting better!

Ok so maybe today will be a really fun day. Just because Takeru ruined my morning, or I thought he did, it might turn out as a fun day. I wonder what'll happen today, something interesting is bound to happen. I glanced over to the 'transfer' student Chrono. She was sitting at her seat drawing something in her notebook. I don't think she's related to the Chrono we met two months ago actually, she can't be. I looked to Kari and I noticed that she was telling something to Koji that surprised him. It was rare for him to get surprised. I shrugged and got up, I walked over to them but as I got over there my eyes were drawn to Chrono.

She was drawing something that was oddly familiar. She was drawing a young girl who looked like Kari almost yet from the glace the boy that was partially drawn looked like Koji. I couldn't make much out from the glance but it looked they were young, about nine, and they were at some kind of fair.

"Takuya?" I snapped form my thoughts and looked to Kari; she had a sad smile on her face.

"Is something wrong?" I shook my head.

"Nah I was wondering what you were saying that got Koji surprised that's all." She laughed slightly but I got kicked in the shin and I glared at Koji who just smirked and looked away.

"What was that for Koji?" Kari began laughing a little harder, traitor!

"Feeling better now Kari?" She nodded at Koji's words but I was confused.

"I'll be back; I'm going to get a drink of water." She left after that and I took her seat, I rubbed my shin and glared at Koji.

"What was that for?" He sighed and shook his head.

"For bringing that up, I know why she can't stand Takeru." She told him?

"Why?" Why would she tell him and not me!

"She was 'friends' with the Takeru in her world, he was known as TK there though." I glanced at Takeru when he said that, how in the world was Kari friends with Takeru?

"Apparently the one she knew messed with her when she was kid then after going to 'that' place they became friends because he didn't realize the girl 'Hikari' was actually 'Kari'. Apparently before she left that world she 'dated' him too, he betrayed her too." That made my blood boil but I understood why she never wanted to speak about her world.

"According to her that Takeru's the same as the one she knew when she was kid but he never changed since he wasn't one in this world." I guess this goes to show that sometimes connections to different version stay.

It also goes to show that one event can change a person, for better or worse at that. As I thought of that I glanced at Chrono, she was still drawing and I had to wonder what the other Chrono had suffered to make her so different than this Chrono. She looked up from her drawing and she caught me watching her, she blushed and she quickly looked up away. I heard Koji mutter something which I didn't catch completely but it sounded like 'creep'. I turned and glared at him.

"What did you just call me?" He rolled his eyes and stood up before grabbing his bag.

"I don't know what you're talking about." He walked passed me, grabbing Kari's bag, yet I never got to say anything because the bell rang.

Koji's annoying, yes he's better than he used to be since we're sort of friends now but he's still annoying! I grabbed my bag and I headed to my second class, I didn't share any other classes with Kari or Koji. It's kind odd that they didn't put her in any of my classes but I didn't worry too much about her because she had the same classes as Koji. I mean she had one class without him but she no one really messes with her that badly, it was cooking class. No one messed with her in cooking class. I didn't even know we had a cooking class until she was either put in it or she chose it.

"Do you know where Mr. Akiyama is?" I stopped at the door and glanced back to Chrono.

Should I be nice and show to Mr. Akiyama's class? I mean I have Mr. Akiyama next so I could be nice. I considered it for a few seconds. Mr. Akiyama taught math, not one of my most favorite subjects since it was kinda boring but that might be because of the fact that most of the class is really loud so he gives us book work a lot.

"Didn't means to eavesdrop but I have Mr. Akiyama's class next I can show you there." Chrono looked at me and she smiled slightly, Mrs. Minami was smiled slightly.

"Would you really?" I nodded and she quickly crossed the classroom from Mrs. Minami's desk and so I began to lead the way.

"Thanks for helping me." I shook my head and I glanced back her; I was surprised to see her smile.

Her red eyes seemed too sparkly slightly but I blamed that on the light and her smile it was pretty nice. I looked away and laughed slightly, mostly at the fact that I had even taken note of such things. It has to be because of the fact that I'm on the lookout for anything Digital World related. That has to be why.

"Don't mention it." She laughed slightly and I really did try to dismiss the fact that it sounded gentle.

For once in a long time was I glad when I saw Mr. Akiyama's class room. I may not practically like Math but it would definitely get my mind of stuff since I already knew that we were watching a movie, he announced it last week. It would only be twenty some odd minutes but hey it's better than math work.
