Chapter Nineteen: Rumors

(Koji's P.O.V)

I rubbed my shoulder as I walked into the school. Yesterday went nowhere close to what we had planned. Meet up with the others, go to the Digital World and meet with Seraphimon. I would rather fight Cherubimon again than the Demon Lords. Hell I would fight all the enemies that we had ever fought if it meant that we didn't have to fight the Demon Lords.

"Hey did you hear about what happened yesterday?" I rolled my eyes as the girl's that had lockers beside mine began to gossip.

"Of course I have! Daisuke actually has a bruise on his cheek from getting hit!" I couldn't help but laugh at that, Daisuke was just as bad as Takeru.

I hated those two long before this year. They were always the school bullies besides the two years that they weren't present for during elementary school. They were always making fun of someone or they would be disrupting class. What caused me to hate I can't say besides after I was first contacted by Lady Ophanimon all of those years ago they just felt off. Something about them always bugged me.

"I still can believe about who did that to him!" I do have to wonder who attacked Daisuke though; he wasn't exactly a push over.

I've seen him fight since him and Takuya have fought once or twice. They hated each other and I had to wonder if it stemmed from when they were children. He once told me that they had been best friends before Takeru came into the picture. Once Takeru came around Daisuke ditched Takuya, it was sudden and unexplainable.

"I know she's Takuya's sister and all but I didn't think Kari had it in her to hurt someone!" I stopped and my eyes went wide.

Kari fought Daisuke? No that can't be true she wouldn't fight without a reason. If something had managed to push Kari enough that she actually fought against someone then something must've happened yesterday. Something happened when we weren't with her. I closed my locker and hurried to the classroom, I'll never admit it out loud but I worry about Kari more than I understand why. I opened the classroom door and I found that Takuya sat by the window staring out of it yet I noticed that Kari wasn't present.

"Takuya." He didn't look away from the window and I narrowed my eyes.

I could usually deal with him ignoring me but not right now. Not when something happened with Kari and when I was still annoyed from yesterday. After we had met with up with them and while we were on the Trailmon we learned that sadly Takuya's thought was right. Zoe, J.P., and Tommy were somehow under the control of the Demon Lords. I hated fighting the Demon Lords but I hated it more that I had to fight the people who I actually viewed as friends.

"Takuya!" He jumped and he looked at me.

Normally I would've hit him upside his head but since we were surprised yesterday we actually got kind of hurt. Takuya hit his head and nearly passed out along with getting a cut above his eye which was covered. I managed to only mess up my shoulder, it was sore and it hurt but I didn't feel like staying at home since it would've been my father and me. I didn't get along with my father that well since the incident with Kari. It didn't hurt right this second since I had taken some medicine but once it wore off I really hope, for everyone's sake, that no one annoys me because I'm already short-tempered.

"What's wrong Koji?" I sat in the seat beside Takuya, it was an empty seat.

"I heard something this morning." He sighed and placed his head in his hands before he yawned.

"I guess you heard about Daisuke then." He looked at me and I nodded.

"Yeah, heard that he and Kari got into a fight, did they seriously get into a fight?" He seemed to think before he nodded.

"Where is she?" He smiled slightly.

"Worried?" I narrowed my eyes once again at him; he really should know not to mess with me right now.

"Actually I am so will you tell me where she is." He seemed surprised that I had admitted that I was worried about her and I cursed the fact that the medicine made me a more, let's say truthful.

"She's at home and she didn't really 'fight' Daisuke but she punched him in his face." He smiled at that but I sighed.

"He has a big old' bruise on his cheek, can't deny that he got into a fight either." I had to admit a part of me was proud that she managed to do that to him.

"Wait, why is she at home if that's all that happened?" He sighed and shook his head, his smile was gone.

"She messed up her wrist somehow; he also punched her in her face not to mention kicked her in her side." I glared at the floor.

"Why did she even get into a fight with him anyways?" I glanced up and I saw Takuya scowl.

"She ended up meeting up with Chrono yesterday and they hung out before he and Takeru showed up. They tossed Chrono's book into the fountain before Daisuke actually punched her in the gut and kicked her, she banged her head on the ground and she passed out." My eyes went wide, no wonder why Kari fought.

"Kari snapped finally I guess, also I learned something else about them last night. I know why there is a different feel to the air that is around them." From how upset he sounded I had a feeling if either of them said a thing to him he might hurt them.

"Takeru and Daisuke, well I'll put it this way, they were the two kids who messed with her when she was a kid." I stared at him and I tried to understand how that would work.

"For once I have to ask how?" He smiled.

"Good I'm not the only one who had to have it explained; they both crossed worlds like we did. The Takeru that teased Kari and the Takeru she was friends with are two different people just like the Daisuke that teased her is different from the Daisuke she was friends with." Hearing that also made me understand even better why she had attacked Daisuke.

"Takeru and Daisuke both work with the Demon Lords to, Takeru is the 'tainted' one controlled by Lucemon and Daisuke is the 'tainted' one controlled by Daemon." Hearing that made the last piece fit, that's how they crossed worlds then.

"Hey, how is Kari?" I looked to Chrono who now stood by us.

Her white hair was pulled up into a ponytail and there was some bandages wrapped around her head. She wore a white t-shirt and a dark blue cargo pants. I noticed that there was a sun like design on the shirt in the bottom left hand side.

"She's fine; she's going to the doctors to get her wrist checked though. You should've stayed home today too Chrono." Even though Takuya was smiling I knew something bothered him.

"Well its best that I don't fall asleep and well my father is currently away so I would've been home alone, I thought coming to school would be best." I noticed something was off, she was talking more to us and it seemed like she trusted us even though we never really talked since she transferred in.

"I hope your sister is ok Takuya, also Koji I uh know you don't trust me and all but I want to ask you something." I raised my eyebrow, no one really asks me for things since I intimidate most.

"Tell me what you want to ask, I'll hear you out." I expected her to back off like others but she didn't and instead I saw her narrow her red eyes slightly.

"I'm not afraid of ya Koji, I have faced scarier things and seen worse not to mention lived through worse." Her words surprised me but I smiled slightly, interesting.

"Believe it or not he was being nice there Chrono, Koji's a bit rough around the edges unless you're Kari that is." I glared at Takuya but he smiled yet I could tell he was trying to pretend that nothing was bothering him.

"I noticed how you were different with Kari I was just wondering why. I admit Kari has something about her that can change people but your personality seems almost completely flipped when you're around her." I looked back her before standing up and crossing my arms.

"I've known her since I was a kid and she's more than a friend to me by now." Only when I felt people staring did I realize what I said.

Ah shit. I hate the stupid medicine! Yeah I'm glad my shoulder ain't hurting but I hate the side effects! I really hate that it makes me loosen up, makes me not so uptight not to mention takes me edge away. My mind was slightly blurry meaning I wasn't really thinking as much as I did which was probably why I didn't understand what Takuya had said earlier and had to have it explained to me.

"That makes sense; I have to wonder what'll happen now." Chrono walked away while saying the last bit.

I didn't like how she sounded, it sounded like she knew something. I didn't trust her especially how she conveniently bumped into Kari. Maybe I was worried for nothing but then again three of my friends turned out to be under the control of the Demon Lords. The fact that she seemed to befriend Kari so quickly and sounded like she knew something was a bit unnerving. I didn't like it one bit.

"Do you know what she means Takuya?" I looked to him and I noticed he was once again watching out the window.

"Kari told her something, she mentioned that she noticed your flip to Kari and Kari told her something when she commented that Kari also changes slightly when she's with you. I don't know what Kari told her though." What would Kari had told her?

"Take your seat Mr. Minamoto!" I sighed and I went to my seat, I hadn't even realized how much time had passed but then again I might've arrived later than usual.

Once to my seat I sat down and instead of dozing off like I usually did I began taking notes knowing Takuya wouldn't even think of taking any to give to Kari later on. The first class of the day was boring, it was history. I knew what we were covering, that's why I slept, but Kari didn't know this. I had done a project on it last year so I learned it then. By the time we were done with notes I knew this was going to be a long day. After history was science then math, it was boring in the morning but the morning was bearable since Kari was there and I wasn't always left out.

I rolled my eyes and shook my head. I was fine before Kari came but it had been a bit annoying when I was left out. Just because I wasn't very social didn't mean I didn't want friends. It was hard for me to make friends and that's all.

"You're not sleeping today hm?" I glanced at the teacher; she had been walking around the room since we were doing worksheets.

"I sleep because I know this stuff besides someone has to take notes for Kari right?" I saw her glance at the seat that belonged to Kari, it seemed like she had just now noticed that Kari wasn't here.

The teacher moved on a few seconds later the bell rang. I put the worksheet into my binder before getting up, on the way out the teacher handed me another worksheet more than likely for Kari. As I left I smiled slightly, maybe today won't be too bad. It was rather odd that Kari was walking with me though. It's been least than a few months since she came and she began walking with me to classes but it felt like it's been a lot longer than that for some reason.
