Chapter Twenty-Seven: And So It Begins…

(Kari's P.O.V)

I stopped and looked up at the sky, I saw lightning flash but still no rain fell. Something wasn't right; something told me that going home wasn't something that I should do. The feeling that was something wrong in my home world was gone but something told me that there was something missing. There was also the smallest longing that appeared a few minutes ago, something that tried to tug at my mind to make me realize the reason but I couldn't.

"Earth to Kari." I jumped and looked at Koji; he was giving me a look that clearly stated I had missed something.

"What?" He sighed and crossed his arms.

"We're missing something." I blinked.

"What do you mean?" He sighed and he rubbed his shoulder the best he could.

"It's been bugging me since the fight with the others. It's something that Zoe that said while being controlled." Did she manage to get something out even though she was being controlled?

"What did she say?" He bit his lip as he crossed his arms.

"At times allies are people who you have only met in passing." People who we met in passing?

"I think she found something out while under their control, I think she was trying to tell us something." Who would be our allies but then again we've met a lot of people in passing haven't we?

"Wait, what makes you bring this up now?" He sighed.

"It was the look that the Evan boy got when he saw the digital writing; it looked like he knew exactly what it was and what it meant. The way he reacted also makes me feel like that he knows more than he was letting on." I shook my head.

"If he knew what was going on he wouldn't have reacted the way he did when we didn't tell him, he would've known what the problem was then wouldn't he have?" Koji was silent for a few moments before he sighed.

"I guess so." I was about to move but I heard something that I haven't heard in a while.

"A whistle?" Koji was confused but I was surprised.

"Gatomon?" It couldn't be her could it?

"Who's that?" I looked to Koji since I had looked in the direction that the whistle was coming from.

"I never told you that my Digital Partner was Gatomon?" He shook his head.

"Do you think it's her?" The sound stopped but after a few moments it began again.

"I think she's calling out to me Koji. I need to find her." I turned to go but Koji grabbed my arm.

"How do you even know that she's here Kari? For all that you know it might be a trap." I stared at him and flashes from that day from five years ago came back.

"I have already rushed into danger to save her before. I don't care if it is a trap but if it is can you tell me that they aren't holding her hostage? That she's not in danger?" He turns into a Digimon so he doesn't know what it's like to have a partner.

"Well no I can't but."

"But nothing Koji, she's my friend and by now you should know that my friends matter a lot to me." He was surprised enough that I was able to pull my arm from his hand, I took off after that and heading towards the sound.

"Kari!" If Gatomon was really here then she had come all the way just for me which meant a lot to me.

I was starting to really believe that everyone there probably didn't care about me anymore. That they probably hated me but the fact that Gatomon was here meant that she still cared about me. It meant that I had at least one friend from that world. We've always stood together since we became partners, even after her long wait. Wait; was that what the longing was perhaps? Instead of her feeling like she was waiting for me did I feel it this time?

"This isn't good Kari; I have a really bad feeling about this!" If this is a trap then they must've done something to someone since no one knew besides my friends that I gave my whistle to Gatomon.

Everything stopped for a matter of seconds when I was grabbed but I knew it was Koji but it still surprised me. He held me against him and I could tell that even though he ran after me he was barely out of breath unlike me. He held me tight and I could tell that he had no intention of letting me go and rush off again.

"Listen to me Kari; I have a bad feeling about this. I know you're worried but stop and think. It's been too quiet for too long plus we have no clue what Daemon was doing here earlier on." That's right; Daemon would probably know that I gave my whistle to Gatomon.

"I have to know Koji. I want to know if Gatomon is seriously here." He sighed yet he didn't let go.

"Fine but you aren't going alone so don't try to ditch me." He let me go and he stuffed his hands in his pockets, giving me a look that stated 'lead the way'.

I didn't say anything and lead the way, he didn't say anything and I had to wonder why. He liked silence but we did talk often. I stopped when I felt it, the bad feeling that Koji probably was feeling. It felt like the same kind of aura that the Dark Ocean had. It promised that nothing good was going to happen.

"Why'd you stop?" Something was going to happen.

"Something's about to happen." Sometimes I really hate being the light since it lets me sense things.

I barely had time to cover my face when I was knocked off of my feet; Koji was quick to come to my side. This isn't good, who was it? Was it a Demon Lord or just one of their allies? I opened my eyes and I saw why Koji had frozen. In front of us was some humongous Digimon that towered taller than us. It had four legs but a human torso and head but it, it just didn't look right. It looked like it had two mouths at the joints of its front to legs.

"That should've hit you but yet you're alive." So he was trying to kill me.

"Who are you?!" I was surprised when I heard a bit of fear in Koji's voice.

"Who am I? You worked for her and yet you never learned of me? She really didn't tell you guys anything." The massive Digimon began to laugh and I gulped.

"He's name's GranDracmon and he works with the Demon Lords." That voice, it sounds familiar.

I looked to the new arrival, it was another Digimon. He stood atop one of the poles and he was watching 'GranDracmon'. He had a white cloak and what seemed like a blue scarf wrapped around his head. When GranDracmon saw him he seemed a mix between annoyed and confused for some reason. But then it registered what he had said, he worked for the Demon Lords. This was all a trap then.

"Baalmon, what brings you here today?" They knew each other but wouldn't that mean that he works with the Demon Lords too?

"You already know don't you? After all we've classed enough that you should know that I'm after the Demon Lords." He's hunting them so that makes him an ally of sorts.

"You saved the girl didn't you? You always had a thing for saving weaklings." I thought about it and I did realize that it kind of did feel like I had been shoved not actually thrown back by the force of an attack.

I heard the cloaked Digimon, Baalmon, laugh but when Koji stood I looked to him. I saw him get engulfed by what he and Takuya called Fractal Code. When he emerged from it he was BeoWolfmon. Looks like he knew that it was serious, even up against just one of their allies we couldn't assume that they were weak since they don't work with weak people. Something didn't feel right.

"I would take cover if I were you, Light." I placed my hands on the ground and attempted to stand up but my legs felt heavy.

Koji glanced at me before he went to help 'Baalmon' fight but I was still stunned. I glanced at the dust that still hung close to the ground that covered my legs. I reached forward and when my hand came into contact with something cold my eyes went wide. I don't know what caused it but when the dust was blown away I was surprised to find that my legs were completely frozen and for some reason only then did the coldness seem to register. When did my legs get frozen?!

"Frozen Hunter!" I looked back to the battle since I couldn't move an inch.

I watched as I hit GranDracmon but it seemed to do very little damage and even Baalmon shot whatever he did that too did little to no damage. If we couldn't even hurt a simple ally what could we do to the Demon Lords? If they were anything like Daemon then could we really defeat them? Was this a doomed battle?

"Why can't we do anything to him?" Koji noticed what I had but it didn't seem to disturb Baalmon at all.

"I don't know about you but I'm holding back. Why aren't you?" Baalmon stopped when he looked to me, his eyes falling to my frozen legs.

"Shit!" As soon as that left him Koji looked and he also noticed my legs.

"It seems like she didn't escape that completely unharmed. She's just a sitting duck. Eye of." My eyes were wide; he stopped the moment that he was hit by the light missiles that Koji unleashed and I realized it.

"Try and do something about that ice!" Baalmon charged at GranDracmon and it was revealed that he had some kind of odd dagger.

"Kari, try to use the fire." I could tell that Koji wanted to try to help me but he went and fought.

I'm getting protected again. Why am I always getting protected? Why can't I ever fight for myself? I pulled out the crest that had the Mark of Flames but I had no clue how to use it. I didn't even know how I used the first two, it was just activated. As I tried to figure it out I couldn't help but pay attention to the fight. Koji was fighting but I did notice it, he kept over protecting his hurt shoulder which meant that it was hurt even in that form. Baalmon seemed to try to protect a certain place which made me think that there was something that he was hiding.

"Gorgon Eye!" Both Koji and Baalmon stopped but just before I closed my eye waiting for whatever invisible force a bubble of light appeared and I saw what looked like black mist flow around the bubble.

"W-what happened?" I jumped slightly when I felt warmth touch my legs and I looked down, the ice was being melted.

I stood up and I felt my legs wobble slightly but I looked at them. GranDracmon was laughing and I knew that at this time I was the only one who could do anything. I had to try to help them. I was about to try to activate the Crest of Flames again a pink shine caught my attention. I reached into my pocket and pulled out the Crest of Light, it was shining and giving off a pink glow. Why is the Crest of Light shining like this?

"The Crest of Light has regained its glow?" I looked at GranDracmon; his attention had also been caught by the pink glow.

"I can't have that now. Crystal Revolution!" I watched as Koji and Baalmon started to become ice but then something appeared something that I had actually ever seen once before.

"Heaven's Charm." I muttered the words; it was Gatomon's move as Angewomon.

"I found you." I looked up and I found Angewomon, she had a smile on her face.

"Gatomon." Even if she was Angewomon I couldn't help but call her Gatomon since I was used to seeing her as Gatomon and calling her such.

"Celestial Arrow!" I watched GranDracmon growled but something happened and he was surrounded in darkness.

"I said I would help kill the Light but I'm not stupid." I was confused but he vanished just as the arrow tore through where had been.

I watched as fractal code surrounded Koji and he began dropping. My eyes went wide and before I could even more Baalmon had already grabbed him, Koji was out. Angewomon landed and reverted back to Gatomon, I saw the whistle that hung on her neck which made me smile. I turned my attention to Baalmon who was now sitting Koji down on the ground, I stumbled but I went over to Koji. Gatomon followed me but slower and she was staring at Baalmon.

"Are you ok?" I looked at Baalmon before slowly nodding my head, he sounded so familiar for some reason.

"Yeah, thanks for saving Koji too." He shook his head.

"It was nothing but if you plan on fighting them then I would recommend you going to the Dark Ocean. It might seem like an evil place but there you'll find a key in defeating them." The Dark Ocean, there are two reasons to head there now then.

"Why should we go to the Dark Ocean?" Gatomon sounded suspicion of Baalmon but he sighed.

"I need to go now, I can't offer much help but if I can I'll lend help when I can." I nodded but I was trying to figure out why he brushed Gatomon off.

"Also the answer to your question is that if you go there then you'll find the reason why they are trying so hard to kill the Light not to mention the truth behind the title of 'DigiDestined of Harmony'. There is a reason why the Demon Lords are now acting with caution." When he said that I knew then that Daemon had found whatever we would be looking for and he had told the Demon Lords of.

"Also consider this as present from my ally, you two know each other but you long ago forgot her. She was just a passing face in the crowd." He dropped something and when I caught it I found that it was a sea blue crest with some kind of odd symbols.

"You now hold Light, Darkness, Fire, and Water. You hold two harmonies within your grasp. What you do with them is up to you as the Guardian of Harmony." Before I could say anything he turned and with a flutter of his white cloak he was gone.

"Harmony." Just what does it mean to be the 'DigiDestined of Harmony'?

So I tried to write a fight scene but I have a feeling it failed pretty miserable.
