Chapter Thirty Two: Family Tree

(Tai's P.O.V)

I just kind of stared at Izzy. I had to wonder if he was smart or stupid at times. He sat there on his laptop hacking into the government. He planned on hacking into the mainframe of the secret government organization that was made up of former DigiDestineds. He said it was in the name of finding out what they were hiding from us, they weren't telling us something.

"What do you think they're hiding from us?" He sighed and he glanced at Matt before looking backing to the screen.

"They know more about what's going on. There is something about their story that doesn't fit." I sighed but I had to agree.

"They claimed as long as the Digimon didn't attack us they wouldn't do anything but they did nothing in the Myotismon or the Control Spiral incident." Something was being hidden by them.

"They also seem to know what's going on with Kari so I want to know what's happening, we all want to know." I was getting tired by now.

Kari's been gone for months now fighting some enemy like 'Belphemon' that attacked us. He was strong and if he wasn't so stupid he would be scary considering the strength he had. I also had to think back to that odd symbol on the girl's jacket, a triangle within a circle that had three triangles coming from the points of the triangle within the circle.

"They also have at least one Runner apart of them." I remembered whoever 'Hiro' was but then I remember Kain remark about having retired from being a Runner.

"We already know about Kain unless you're talking about someone else." That's right; I never told them about Hiro.

"While there I met someone named Hiro. He's a Runner from this world but fell in love with someone from another so he was in another world but for some reason he ended up here again." Izzy stopped and looked at me while Matt just shook his head.

Ken wasn't with us today because something to Rin. She went missing and he was trying to find her, she apparently disappeared shortly after the Spark incident. Matt didn't seem too worried about so she was probably safe in truth he probably knew where she was but just wasn't saying.

"What else did you learn about Hiro?" I thought back to what he said.

"He freaked out when he heard that Belphemon attacked us. It confused me why he got all worried, said if he was here if they were ok. He wanted to go back to whatever world he had been in to check on his son and niece." After saying that and getting a 'are you stupid' look from Izzy it clicked and I did feel stupid.

"His son and niece are involved in the battle." I felt stupid as I mutter the words, I missed that.

"He's connected to the battle that Kari's fighting more than likely but who's his son and niece?" He's asking me when I missed the whole connection until just now.

"I don't think we know the answer Izzy. Why don't you continue your hacking and just look at his info once you get in." Matt sounded rather annoyed.

"Fine, what made you so mad suddenly?" Izzy went back to doing whatever he does to hack.

"The fact along with having to find out what they're hiding, trying to find out what's up with Kari, we have the mystery about who 'Hiro' is." I heard something hit the floor.

I looked and I was surprised to find my mom, she just stared at us. She had been out grocery shopping. I'm so glad we told her about the Digital World or we would really be in trouble now. Thankfully we didn't lie to her about what happened to Kari either. She just seemed surprised for some reason. Her surprised look shifted to a confused look.

"Hiro, who is he?" Why does she want to know?

"He's a guy who's connected to the battle Kari's fighting somehow. He's a Runner who used to live in this world but ended up living in another." I don't know how my mom grasped what she did about the Digital World but I was glad she didn't freak out whenever we talked about it in truth.

"How long, had he been in the other world?" Her question now had Izzy's attention.

"Do you know him Mrs. Kamiya?" My mom looked to Izzy but she sighed.

"I don't know but he did bring up not talking to his sister for twelve years so I'll assume at least twelve years." Why would she want to know about him?

"Twelve years huh?" She seemed stunned now.

"If you know something can you tell us mom, it might help us figure out something with Kari." I knew that was the one way to convince her to tell us what she knew if she had planned not to, she was worried about Kari and she just wanted Kari to come home.

"Hiro's my older brother." My eyes went wide and it seemed to just go dead silent.

"When we were kids we used to explore some world but I was just a tag along, my brother couldn't bear to leave me behind with our parents but that changed when we got older and he ventured outside of here. He left and he just, he never came back." So if Hiro is her brother that makes him my uncle which makes him Kari's uncle that means the niece he referred to is Kari but who is his son?

"Do you know who his son is?" We have a cousin we never knew about.

"No, we haven't spoken until he called me but I didn't want to speak to him." I learned something about her childhood that I hadn't meant to.

"What was your last name before you married dad?" Maybe that'll give us a clue.

"Kanbara." When she said that it brought back the name of one of Kari's friends, one of the ones she's fighting with.

"Takuya Kanbara the DigiDestined of Flame, she wrote about him in her diary." While it had been an invasion of privacy I was rather glad I looked in her diary now.

"So wait, if Belphemon was here and they were fighting him what happened to them." So with the puzzle solved just a bit more fear started to replace the worry.

"Oh god." Mom seemed to nearly break at the thought and I shot a glare at Izzy but he was backing to working on hacking, he seemed to be faster almost.

"We'll know once I find the file, I'm in now it's a matter of finding the file or program." Was there something else that they said that could help us?

"They put a tracer on Spark; she might be helping them fight." I didn't really think before I said it and he nodded.

Was Kari still alive or? No I can't think that way right now. We don't know what's going currently so all we know they missed something. I mean they mentioned that this wasn't going the way they thought it would go. For all we know they might be peaceful right now.

"Let's see, according to the last data that they logged Runner 502 aka Spark Gallant is working alongside Runner 503 aka Leo Gallant in a Digital World and 'released' the 'hazard'." I just stared at Izzy and he seemed to scan what was recorded.

"Anything else?" It didn't make any sense.

"I'm doing a search on the numbers, they seemed to have quite the database on existing runners and it's more advanced than this world's technology. Someone there went to a world that was farther than us and has brought back technology." My mom walked over and sat in the arm-chair.

"Is Kari ok Izzy?" We all knew the answer a big fat question mark but we didn't know what to say, she already lost her brother to the worlds pretty much and knowing that Kari might follow along that road might not be so good for her.

"She's not dead, I know that." I looked at Izzy.

"How do you know?" He sighed.

"They have recorded all the runners that have 'died' and listed reason, Kari's not on it but Leo Gallant has a question mark." I let out a sigh of relief.

"Did you learn anything else about Kari?" He nodded and clicked on something but then he got angry.

"No!" He yelled it and made us all jump.

"What happened?" He just hung his head.

"They kicked me out. I didn't a chance to see the log they have titled 'Demon Lord Fight'." Now what would happen?

Once they found out they were hacked and by whom what would they do? Hacking into the government is a pretty high crime and the fact that he hacked into a secret part of the government probably meant an even heavier punishment. I don't want to know what they'll do to Izzy when they figure this out.

"They can't know that it was you can they Izzy?" He shrugged.

"You hacked into the government?" My mom seemed a bit surprised.

"Yeah, hopefully with their advanced technology they can't trace me but they probably can." We know Kari isn't dead so that's a good thing.

"They might try to recruit you in truth, last person who hacked them was Amaya and she works with them as their tech person now." I remember hearing that name that was the girl who placed the tracer on Spark.

"She was the one who put the tracer on Spark too." My mom glanced at me.

"How do you know?" I sighed, might as well come clean to her about the whole visit to their office I guess.

"I went their office because I had to tell them about how Belphemon attacked Izzy, Matt, Ken, and me." Her eyes went wide.

"That's why you're so banged up, a Digimon attacked you!" I hadn't told her the truth behind the bruises and cuts we had since I didn't want her to worry.

"We should probably be going now, Gennai wanted to talk to us about something." Izzy muttered it but I knew it was because he knew something, he did see something or he knew what Gennai was going to tell us.

"You have to tell me everything your hiding Tai." I looked at mom and sighed.

"Later, I'll tell you later." She sighed but seemed fine with it; there was no need to hide it so we just went through the port that we were now able to open with our Digivices.

Somewhere along the line our Digivices gained the ability to open the ports, it might've been Gennai's doing or when Izzy modified the gate program after analyzing Yolei's D3. I didn't care that much about the technical stuff that much but what I wanted to know was what Gennai had called us all for. Were in the fight or are we unable to help Kari in this fight? That thought bugged me, was I unable to help my sister in a fight against Digimon that have killed before?
