It's really short. I don't know what else to add to this chapter (if you can really call this a chapter). I don't know if this is any good. It's short and perhaps a bad third p.o.v attempt. I feel like I almost made myself cry with this one. I feel bad for this too. I'm sorry. Be warned, this has a tragic event in it.
Chapter Thirty Four: Silence
The silence that seemed to cover the area was, unnerving. It was the kind of silence you knew meant that something bad happened. That something terrible had occurred. A silence that signified the end of something, a silence that usually left people with regrets or questioning things, one that none liked. It wasn't helped any by the location at all.
Takuya left where Koji and Koichi were to go and check on Kari. While he didn't know who Storm or Evan was he didn't question why Koji had trusted them. Perhaps it was the unsettling feeling that prompted him to act out of character when he spoke to Koji. Koji was checking Koichi; he also felt that unsettling feeling. Something told them that today would end up being the day something changed.
While Takuya headed for Kari's location an event unfolded there. It was something that would change the stakes of this battle. It would also change someone's driving force, it would make someone very deadly. Takuya saw a bright flash of light and the silence was broken by the howl of something, a Digimon. No there was more than one. Takuya, who had taken a risk and become Aldamon, stared at the light before it faded. He knew who that belonged to, Kari. Kari had done something again. He sped up because now he was worried even more.
Meanwhile while he was rushing the Sangloupmons seemed to shatter into data. Something also seemed to change within the data when the light touched it but none within the clearing was paying enough attention. Once the light faded Kari sank to her knees, the change of outfit faded before Storm could really catch a glimpse of it. Yet Storm wasted no time rushing to Evan even though she cast a worried glance to Kari.
The silence returned once more. Yet if you listened closely enough, you could hear that Storm was trying not to cry. Storm's shoulders shook as she looked her twin over. It was something that marked a change. Storm was gentle as she shook Evan ever so slightly, trying to get him to open his eyes. The only hope she had was the fact that his chest rose and fell but at such a slow pace that told anyone with sense that he was losing the fight to hold onto life.
As she spent careful seconds trying to get his eyes to open Takuya arrived. He was surprised to see what had been the battlefield for them. Something that he noticed because unlike Kari or Storm he didn't know of the struggle that Evan was currently having, the dark surrounds weren't normal. The trees that had been bathed in whatever light that Kari had admitted seemed like normal and there patches of green grass. Yet it was fading slowly it was noticeable.
Takuya let his Spirit Evolution drop as he looked from Kari who was staring at the ground to the card on the ground in front of her. Takuya had no idea what the card was so he was confused but he looked from her to Storm who failed at not crying, it was the only sound one could hear. He was going to speak but then his eyes landed on the boy that lay on the ground. Unmoving and the slow rise and fall was coming to a halt. He wasn't stupid, he knew what that meant.
The silence then seemed to become even more unbearable. Takuya had always hated silence and this didn't help his hatred for it any. He also couldn't stop himself from blaming himself some. He lied to Koji, he remembered that he had been taken control of by the Demon Lords and he remembered fragments. One such fragments being him getting the order to hunt them and that he enjoyed the chase.
"Why." The silence broken once more by Storm's quite, almost whimpered questioned.
Kari raised her head slowly turning to look at Storm. Evan was no longer breathing. Storm punched the ground a few seconds later. Her outfit faded away as seconds past. Takuya was also watching the sight in front of him.
"Where is this fair?" It was easy to spot the blood that was beginning to soak through Storm's shirt.
"Why?" Storm reached out to touch Evan once again.
Yet in that moment something occurred that made this a bit more unbearable. Evan let off a faint glow; it was something that Takuya knew well. Slowly it seemed like Evan began to crack, like a mirror. Even if Kari or Storm knew what was occurring they wanted to deny it. They watched as Evan pretty shattered into data. The data flickered with white light as it faded away, faded into noting.
