Forgot to mention, I'm posting all the parts today. I'm seriously hoping my ideas keep going and I'll try to start updating every week again [probably Saturdays or Sundays] it might be every other week though.
[Chrono's P.O.V]
I chewed lightly on my lip. This was going to be tough. I didn't know what would stand in my way. Chances are she's not here alone. After this I won't be able to go home until this so called war is over. That is if I survive this.
"Don't lose your nerve now Chrono." I whispered the words to myself.
This world must've seen a lot of battles; it might be why my thoughts were grim. I stood on what remained of what I could assume was once a building. The land was scared and any kind of structure that once stood was either falling down or was just a heap of rubble. From the huge pile I stood on I could see charred remains of a forest. This place was so quiet that it was disturbing. It was too quiet but it might be because of whatever battle occurred here.
"Wait." I looked around and I made my bow materialize in my hand.
No world was truly safe from the Demon Lords. They might've been here. I have observed them and they will actually destroy things if they got bored. This world was a bit on the easily attacked side of the spectrum. If they were here they might still be here. I was careful as I jumped from the pile of rubble. If they learned I was here they might attack me or I might lose this chance.
"Be careful." I jumped and I looked around.
I had pulled the string back on my bow, the arrow appeared pulsing slightly. The string was special so it didn't give much resistance but it was powerful. I looked around trying to find who had spoken but I didn't see anyone.
"Who are you?" I faintly saw the flicker of a shadow out the side of my eye.
I turned to look but there was still no one in sight. It was unnerving and it bothered me.
"I'm an ally of sorts." I let the string go lax and the arrow of light faded.
Even if I let the string relax I didn't. He could easily be lying to me yet since he hadn't attacked me yet it was a bit persuasive in getting me to listen. I actually should look into getting a different weapon instead of a bow or learn how to use my ability a bit better so it's not just limited to magical arrows.
"That doesn't answer my question." I heard something shift behind me so I turned around.
All I saw was the flicker of a white cape before it disappeared. I got the feeling whoever it was didn't want me to know their identity. Yet if they were that fast they probably could've killed me by now but they hadn't. So at least at this moment they probably weren't an enemy.
"I can't answer that question, sorry." Even when I heard another shift I didn't turn around.
"You also won't let me see your identity, will you?" Either he was a traitor to the Demon Lords who was flipping sides or he was supposed to be dead.
"Correct." I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.
With the sense of sight gone my other senses heightened slightly. It was a trick that Chronomon taught me years ago. It was useful and it's helped me in all kinds of different situations.
"I chose to speak to you because you would understand it plus you're alone unlike the other who would understand." So he's come with information; information that is a secret.
"Who's the other?" I heard him shift on his feet but he didn't move meaning he was probably uncomfortable with the question.
"Zale Aleister but if I understand correctly she goes by Storm Aleister now." I was surprised hearing her name.
Storm was smart so I could see her understanding something like this; she also knew how to keep a secret. Yet what surprised me was him speaking the name Zale. She had told me never to call her that for a reason buried in her past. Not even her own twin called her by her first name; it's always one of her two middle names.
"How do you know that name?" Gallantmon played with records and made sure that 'Zale Aleister' was marked dead.
"My means of retrieving my information is a secret so I can't tell you how, where, or when I got my information." That irked me.
Without knowing that how could I be certain that he wasn't lying to me? How much should I trust him? I didn't even know who he is since he won't tell me or let me see him. He was a Digimon that much I knew because of the type of presence that he gave off. He was humanoid as well, he walked on two feet and his presence doesn't have that wild sense to it.
"Why should I trust you?" Even if he didn't attack me he could just be pretending to be more of a friend than a foe and anyone working with the Demon Lords by will or by force, has their reasons to try and deceive me.
"You're Chrono Alexander, DigiDestined of Miracles, and you're thirteen and a half years old." I opened my eyes when he brought up my title; no one but Chronomon, Gallantmon, and Leopardmon knew that I was the DigiDestined of Miracles.
"You have no idea who your parents are but you know that whoever they were that they weren't normal humans, you know that your ability is different than those of your world." I tightened my grip on my bow and instead of feeling the hum of the energy I felt something solid in my hand, well something that was becoming solid.
"You also fear the Human World not only because you were raised in the Digital World but because you feel like you don't belong in the Human World, you're afraid that you'll get rejected by humans." How did he know my fears, only Chronomon knew my fears?
"I also know that you would do almost anything for your friends, I know about the broken rules." I turned towards him quickly, my hand out stretched.
He jumped to dodge the ball of light that had been flung at him. It flew through the air and only vanished after it hit something in the distances, I felt it hit something. He landed behind me and it took everything within me not to turn around and try to attack him again. I didn't like the fact that he knew so much about me. Then again if he knew so much about me when Chronomon has deleted everything about me from existences for some reason and sheltered me from having such things spread he would know everything about the others as well.
"Tell me how you know so much about me. You said you couldn't but at this moment I have every mind to attack you. You know so much about me while Chronomon made sure such things weren't leaked, if you know about me then you know about the others." I was no longer surprised that he knew about Storm's real name.
"If I tell you then there has to be a condition, will that work?" I tightened my grip on my bow; it felt completely solid for some reason.
"What's the condition?" I had to know how he knew; unless it was outrageous I would probably meet his condition.
"There's a certain person I want to protect, they'll suffer a great deal of pain on top of what they've already suffered. She knows what you know, she knows a bit more actually." I was surprised by that.
How would she know more than me? Chronomon knew that my fate would cross paths with the Demon Lords so he's trained me from when I was young to fight them. He wanted me to be able to fight them when I had to. He taught me the prophecy and explained almost all of it. Not to mention the only way she would know would be learning from a Digital Ruler but the only Digital Rulers that knew were Chronomon and Gallantmon well there was Leopardmon as well but he kept to himself so much that I'm surprised he trusted Gallantmon.
"Why are you telling me this?" Why would he reveal that there is someone he wants to protect to me when he knows I'm ready to attack him?
"She's going to need friends after this is all over with, preferably before this ends because I'm scared of what she might do once she's played her part. I know she'll live to fulfil her part but once that's done I'm not sure what she'll do." I gulped, that sounded a bit like Storm.
Storm has ran away from her past but held on all of these years. She's held on for her brother and so that she could kill the Demon Lords or at least die trying. She wanted them to suffer for destroying her world. She was slowly losing her reasons to hold on.
"What's your condition?" I didn't want to hear any more about this person he wanted to protect, I didn't want to think about the fact that perhaps he had a connection to Storm.
"If you figure out whom I am do not reveal it to the others, do not bring it up or suspect her." That's easy enough, he wasn't asking something drastic.
"I agree to that condition, I'll keep your identity a secret." Why was his identity so important?
"I've seen the inside of the library, no matter the Ruler or the power one can't erase information from the library." My eyes went wide.
He's been to the Millennia Library. No one has been there for such a long time that it's just a legend. The legend was made up, or so I thought, to try and explain the fact of how older entities know so much and how knowledge spread throughout the different worlds. It was also said to be the link between all worlds.
"How did you get in there?" I heard him laugh; it was low and barely sounded like a laugh in truth it sounded like a cross between a laugh and a strangled sob almost.
"I was supposed to be deleted but something decided to reconfigure me, something chose to show me the 'truth'. I can still remember it. It was a cry, far away and distorted. I drifted between time and space. It made me think about everything that happened and then warmth, like something had washed over me." Something happened in his past; the way he talked made me think he had been evil at one point.
"I don't know why I was chosen. I don't know why I was given a second chance. I didn't deserve either but I seized the chance and learned everything that I could. I wasn't going to waste the second chance I was given." I heard something in the distance.
"I've stayed for too long. I need to go and you need to complete your mission. Be warned, you'll have to face a tough choice Chrono. Also, things aren't what they always seem." Seconds later his presence vanished completely.
Since he was gone I looked at my bow, curious now why it felt solid and I didn't feel the hum of the raw energy. I was surprised though to see that my bow as completely solid. It was a pure white but written in the red digital symbols were something that I couldn't read though. The symbols were odd; it was something that I had seen Chronomon read once. It was the ancient text; something that had been erased with the library from exists. If I hadn't seen Chronomon reading it once I would have believed that it was also just a mere legend.
"I do need to finish this mission." I took a deep breath before I set off towards where I could now sense Lady Ophanimon, at least whoever was pretending to be Lady Ophanimon.
I was on guard in case whatever had made the sound decided to show itself. I didn't know what caused it and didn't know if it was friend or foe. I passed through the charred forest; there was no sign of life at all. The trees were slowly returning to code and disappearing. This world was unstable and was on the verge of being deleted completely. My heart clenched at the mere thought, another world brought to destruction because of either some evil force that didn't value its home world or the Demon Lords for either enjoyment and to appease their boredom or for some reason that I haven't noticed yet.
I walked for hours, taking only very short breaks. Lady Ophanimon wouldn't attack the Digital Ruler too rashly or quickly because she had to keep up a guise of being innocent for now at least. She still had a role to play within the society of world relations that the Demon Lords could take advantage of. After passing destroyed town after destroyed town and other things returning to data I saw something in the distances that looked like it still stood.
I picked up my pace and when I drew closer I could hear talking. Slowing down and making sure my presences was completely cloaked I snuck towards a crack in a wall. Looking through I saw a scene that surprised me slightly. Lady Ophanimon was facing me while the Digimon that I could guess was the Digital Ruler had their back to me. The Digimon though was familiar. I would never forget it yet it made questions pop into my head.
Lotosmon, she was a Digimon that I had suspected of working with the Demon Lords for a very long time now. Chronomon had suspected her as well. She was the last one to have claimed to have seen the library. She was the one who had given a DigiDestined the prophecy for the battle with the Demon Lords. She was thought to have been the Ruler who had told Lucemon the secrets of traveling.
"Lotosmon, are you sure about this?" I watched her nod to whatever Lady Ophanimon had asked.
"Yes, I'm positive. This war will come to an end with this group." I pulled my bow from my back, it hadn't vanished earlier on.
"You've seen the library haven't you?" Lotosmon nodded once more.
"I have and I've seen the truth just like anyone else that has seen the library, at least those that knew what to look for and found favor with the Guardian of the Library." I was taken aback; the legends never spoke of a guardian.
"Which side will come out victorious Lotosmon?" I heard Lotosmon laugh; she griped her two staves tightly.
"The side that wins, it's the side that deserves to win." Lotosmon looked to the sky.
"The ones that win this horrible war that has been passed through generation after generation, the blood will finally end. Then again, it all depends upon which side has a stronger will. Fate and destiny can be rewritten." I had never met Lotosmon before so I wasn't sure how to take her words.
"What do you mean Lotosmon?" Lady Ophanimon seemed a bit unnerved for some reason.
"A friend of mine, someone who I owe a great debt to, she told me something once." I watched as Lotosmon looked to Lady Ophanimon.
"The one who wins is the one who is the strongest, in every aspect." I saw Lady Ophanimon smile, well it was a smirk.
"The strongest will survive after all." Lotosmon laughed but nodded.
"Yes, the strongest will survive but as my friend said strength isn't always what it seems." Lady Ophanimon gave Lotosmon a strange look.
I watched as a pink rabbit like Digimon came from nowhere and ended up standing beside Lotosmon. The rabbit like Digimon seemed familiar almost, I hadn't seen it before but for some reason something told me that it was important for some reason. Something about the fact that it stood by Lotosmon told me that it was a sign to something.
"Enough of small talk, we're here to discuss something serious Lotosmon." I wanted to know all I could but I couldn't wait much longer because the longer I stay the higher the chance that I'll be notice.
"Yes, on the subject matter of the Demon Lords." They're going to discuss the Demon Lords, yet the question is what will be discussed.
"I heard rumors and whispers that you ally with the Demon Lords but you've made no move to stop the war that rages within your own world, you haven't made a single move to quell the rebellion here." I was surprised hearing that but it did answer my question about what was going on here in this world.
"You are the Digital Ruler here are you not?" Lotosmon raised the staff that had the two snakes so it pointed at Lady Ophanimon.
"You've had your own Chosen Ones kidnapped and enslaved and yet you do nothing. You don't offer help to your Chosen Ones so do not try to make it sound like I do not care about the state of my world." When Lady Ophanimon backed up I got the sense that Lotosmon was stronger than what she looked like.
"I've done what I can Lotosmon. I am no fool to recklessly charge the Demon Lords, as long as nothing drastic happens they won't harm my Chosen Ones." The pink rabbit, which was besides Lotosmon, it looked away as if it knew something that it shouldn't know.
"You sound so sure of that Ophanimon, those beasts destroy worlds simply because they're bored, killing millions when bored so who's to say they won't kill them simply for enjoyment." Lady Ophanimon flinched at Lotosmon's words.
"You have left your Chosen Ones to fight this rebellion on their own, you offer no words of advice or support at all. Don't try to act like you're better than me Lotosmon." I watched as Lotosmon stood up, she seemed much more intimidating than Lady Ophanimon for some reason.
"If you have a problem with how I run this world then you can leave. I agreed to this meeting to discuss a partnership between Chosen Ones to aid in finding the ones fated for this battle." I began walking slowly towards the part in the wall that was knocked in.
I had to make my move very soon. Lotosmon was probably going to drive Lady Ophanimon out very shortly. I couldn't miss this chance. I had to do this and get rid of her here. She could continue to cause problems for us since she had sway over the gates in her world and if they were locked out or locked in it could cause major issues since they have no clue how to open gates so once locked in or out they were stuck and sitting ducks.
"Your Chosen Ones probably won't last another day; they'll fall just like the group of DigiDestineds that fought to protect the other ailing Digital Ruler." I stopped hearing that.
Was Lotosmon sick? Was that why despite the powerful presence she had Lady Ophanimon was here and the Demon Lords were more than likely after her? It didn't make sense though. Why arrange a meeting with her if they were trying to get rid of her? Then again perhaps they wanted her to work with them. I shook my head. This wasn't my world and I learned a while ago not to get caught up in another world's conflicts because it usually never ends well.
"You're walking on a very thin string Ophanimon. Rosemon was my friend, my sister." Why does that sound familiar?
"Oh yes, that's right. You and Rosemon are sisters aren't you? You should know firsthand then what happened to her when a rebellion surfaced; it was erased from history though by you weren't it though?" Something in the back of my mind tried to come to the front.
"Don't you dare speak her name one more time Ophanimon or else I'll make you regret it." I peeked out from behind the rubble about to make my move.
"That world was so peaceful, it never saw a fight really until that bloody rebellion but then those humans came along. The Chosen Ones among the Chosen Ones; they were strong, smart, reliable, and all around perfect for the job." I had one shot at this, I had to hit her the right way or she would flee and I would lose this chance.
"They fought to save the world and they sought nothing in return but shelter from their war torn Human World. Your sister was going to grant them that amnesty wasn't she? Then the tragedy befell that world. Rosemon, just like her beloved Chosen Ones perished at the hands of the Demon Lords though didn't she Lotosmon?" My eyes widened when I realized it; that was the truth of the hidden secret.
"Serpent Ruin!" With a flash of black from the serpent staff Lady Ophanimon froze.
"My sister did everything she could to save those kids! She didn't expect it, no one had expected! At the time it hadn't even been considered!" This was my one and only chance.
I moved from behind the wall and I pulled the string back, it resisted me though this time. Closing one of my eyes I lined up the shot so it would be perfect. This was the chance I needed. She wouldn't move for a matter of seconds thanks to whatever Lotosmon had done but she would quickly flee once she was free from whatever stopped her from moving. I fired the arrow off and it struck Lady Ophanimon dead center in her chest, she turned when she was hit probably trying to dodge Lotosmon's attack.
I was surprised that the arrow tore through her armor like it was nothing; I thought that her armor would cause problems. Veins of white spread out along Lady Ophanimon before she seemed to crack and what I could assume was an illusion faded. Standing there instead of Lady Ophanimon was Lilithmon. Yet it wasn't the Lilithmon that was the Demon Lord of Lust. The rumor I had heard was truth then. Lilithmon was a twin, Lilithmon the Demon Lord of Lust was stronger of the two and was evil from the get go while the one who had posed as Lady Ophanimon had been good.
I hadn't expected it to be easy so I was disbelieving of the fact of how easily the fake Lady Ophanimon shattered into data. I couldn't believe that she was so easily killed. It seemed almost too good to be true. Then again I wasn't sure what had changed with my bow and the fact that it resisted me might mean that it had gotten an upgrade somehow but probably not. Then again I wasn't sure what Lotosmon had done and the reason why she was so easily defeated could and probably was attributed to the fact of whatever Lotosmon had done.
"You're the one that Leopardmon sent I take it?" Lotosmon looked to me and I lowered my bow.
"Yes, well more like he told me and gave me a reason to cross worlds so I wouldn't break a rule without knowing what to do." She nodded and I watched her lower her staff.
"The attack you preformed, what did it do to the fake Lady Ophanimon?" She sighed and shook her head.
"Sorry, I can't disclose that. I'm still a Digital Ruler that is in charge of protecting this world. I have to keep the secrets that I can when it concerns my attacks." I nodded slowly; I could accept that after all it could make a difference between saving and killing a world.
"However I must ask that bow of yours. How is it that it can harm a Digimon to the point of making one return back to data? You are no Digimon and you have no Digimon as partner." I gave a small smile.
"Sorry, I can't explain that." She gave a look but sighed.
"I'd explain it if I could, I have no clue why it can. I think it's because in my world there are mages and I happen to be one of them. Maybe that's why it can harm Digimon but I'm not certain myself. Not even Chronomon seemed sure of why I could attack Digimon using the bow." She tightened her grip on her staff and she seemed surprised.
"Chronomon, you must be Chrono Alexander then. The child that Leopardmon said was raised by Chronomon." I was surprised that Leopardmon had spoken about me; he didn't seem to like me very much so I hadn't thought he would talk about me or tell someone about me.
"You know since you destroyed her they're going to send someone here, they're going to attack now." The pink rabbit seemed scared but I couldn't blame it, it didn't have much of a fighter aura.
"Don't worry Cutemon, I have already have things aligned. Go to the safe spot Cutemon." The pink rabbit nodded slowly, I could only assume that her name was Cutemon.
"Ok Lotosmon, you'll survive right?" Lotosmon gave Cutemon a smile and after that Cutemon took off somewhere.
"Lotosmon, can I ask a question?" She looked to me.
"Your sister, the world she ruled. I'm curious, when was it destroyed?" There was no chance was there?
"I know what you think and for that reason I won't speak of it. I made a promise to two people, one I promised not to bring up the old generation until the end and the other I promised not to reveal what occurred because it's a memory better left alone for everyone." It was true then.
"I'm sorry if I brought trouble to your world by getting rid of her here." Lotosmon shook her head.
"No, we are prepared for war here. I knew what was being asked when Leopardmon approached me with the request. I knew what would happen." She looked up to the sky.
"This world won't fall, no matter how much blood it's seen it won't fall. This world has seen much blood in its years and survived the worst of things so it'll survive this as well. It's survived one attacked by the Demon Lords already, maybe it was because they didn't have the conviction or because their attention was pulled elsewhere I'm not sure." This world has survived a Demon Lord attack?
"Lotosmon, you should take cover. Chrono has to fight this fight alone. This is a trial you must overcome on your own." My eyes went to the person who suddenly appeared.
She dropped from a portal that opened up in the sky. She had long blonde hair and her eyes were the bluest I've ever seen. She was older than most DigiDestineds that I have seen. She was a Runner, someone who must've given up her home or perhaps lost it. She's probably seen many battles if she's survived this long. She wore a blue shirt that was torn slightly and black pants.
"Why are you here!? You shouldn't be here, if they find out you're alive still this will become messy." The blonde haired woman gave Lotosmon a smile.
"I might not be up for a fight but they can't kill me, besides I would rather them come after me. I just found out some very troubling news. I knew it was a curse that we all received but I had hoped that perhaps I had changed enough to make it invalid but I hadn't." Lotosmon's frown deepened.
"If I leave you must leave with me. After all if they attack I'm in no condition to fight." The blonde haired woman nodded before looking at me.
"You are fine with fighting whatever enemy comes correct?" Her question gave me the sense that something bad was going to happen.
"I don't have much choice in the matter do I?" She gave a sad smile.
"You don't really, fight and win or flee and die. It's sad but you knew what would happen once you killed her didn't you? Or did Leopardmon conveniently leave that part out?" She must know Leopardmon and his bad habit of leaving out details at times.
"I knew even without him telling me, I was raised by Chronomon after all." She seemed surprised hearing that.
"And here I thought I heard it all, raised by Chronomon." She grinned and laughed.
"Oh even beyond the grave she's causing trouble for them, she has to be laughing if she's not worried to death." My eyes widened because I knew, I just knew she was talking about her.
"My mother, you knew my mother?" She nodded; her whole face was lit up.
"She was one of my best friends. If I could I would tell you but until everything is over I can't tell you anything. It was the last promise I made to her. She doesn't want the past to be known until this is over, just like the rest of us." The way she spoke told me something she wouldn't, she fought in a battle against the Demon Lords or at least against some of their forces yet the fact that she could smile surprised me.
"That's enough; you can't speak around things without unintentionally giving answers then again you might've meant to tell her that. You and she were good at keeping promises but still telling things that you swore to keep secret without saying it directly which meant you two never broke the promises." Lotosmon knew my mother as well then.
"Let's go Lotosmon." They began to leave by the blonde woman stopped and looked back to me.
"Chrono, you'll be faced with something harsh very soon but find the strength to continue on. Live and fight, do not let them win simply because they exploit another weakness of another DigiDestined. Remember, things are not what they seem. Digimon never truly die, most get reconfigured somewhere and reborn." I got the sense that something bad was going to happen.
She seemed to vanish just as Lotosmon also seemed to vanish. I stood there confused by what she said and surprised by what I had found out. My mother was probably a DigiDestined as well from how the blonde woman spoke. I didn't even know my own mother's name but I remember that Chronomon had always told me that one day I would learn everything, that everything would be clear one day. I've been waiting for that one day for a very long time now.
"What's going to happen now?" I looked up to the sky.
Clouds were starting to invade and take over the sky. It was going to rain very soon. This world was quiet, far too quiet especially since I learned that there was a rebellion happening. Why was there no fighting or any noise of anything? It was as if this world was deserted but there had to be others here. Then again Lotosmon spoke of a safe spot so perhaps everyone had retreated there.
"Forgive me." The words were simple and sudden.
I barely had time to react. I dove forwards and rolled. I barely dodged the attack; I barely escaped getting hit by the attack. I watched as the sickly colored flames seemed to just pour from the heavens. The flames were a sickly white color, it was tainted. I stared at the flickering flames because I knew and recognized them.
"You won't survive this; you'll be the perfect example." My hands trembled as I pushed myself up.
My eyes went skywards once more. My eyes locked on the figure that floated there among the sky. It was someone that I hadn't expected and it was something that I had only heard about but I knew perfectly well who it was. His body was red and he had brown circles on his arm; his legs were blue but his talons were red. His wings were red with light blue ridges at the bottom and what seemed like brown armor covered the top of his wings and protruded off the ends of his wings. Blue crystal like things made up what seemed to be wing spines spread from his back.
"N-no." My once firm grip on my bow had loosened and I nearly dropped it.
I almost fell to my knees. I knew what had to be done but I wasn't sure if I could do it. I wasn't sure that I was strong enough let alone if I could do it. I watched as he raised his hand and his fingertips were lit with the sickly white flames.
"Finger Bombs." The sickly white flames started to rain down upon me.
Instead of trying to counter them or stop them before they reached me I dodged them the best I could and I tried to find the strength to fight. I tried to find the strength to take up my weapon or even the strength to move without stumbling. I couldn't believe my eyes. The bad feeling I had was fully realized and I knew why I now. The feeling was understandable.
"Are you going to run away? I thought for sure you were taught better than that." I stopped but in that second one of the flame bombs hit the ground close by and exploded.
I was flung through the air and I landed hard on my side. The world spun and my ears rung. I felt numb for a number of seconds. Once feeling came back I registered the stinging sensation in my arms from having got cut by debris and my legs felt kind of tingly. I sat up slowly; dust clouded my sight that wasn't stable completely. I glanced at my legs glad to see that I still had my legs but they had cuts and my pants had been burned, they were just a bit above my knees now.
I was glad that my clothes were designed to take attacks from Digimon. They were reinforced in a special way so it took the blunt of that attack and probably saved me from serve burns and possibly broken bones or even the loss of a limb. Those flames were no joke then again considering who they were coming from I would've been worried if they were weak. Despite having barely any feeling in my legs I forced myself up.
"Are you still alive?" I took the chance to raise my bow.
I could see his shadow through the dust but he probably couldn't see me but I wouldn't be surprised if he could. He was probably trying to toy with me with his question. I drew back the string and closed one of my eyes. The dust cleared enough that I could line up the shot but right before I released the string he wasn't the current form. I saw the white feathered figure that had a half red sun design on his sleeves and blue feathers from his forehead.
"I c-can't." The arrow vanished and the string snapped back into lax position when I let the string go.
"Oh so you can't attack, how sad. It makes it easier in truth. If you don't fight back then there is no challenge." I can't fight him no matter what I said.
He raised his arm and swept it in front of him. Next thing I know I was blown off of my feet and I was sent flying once more. I don't know if he meant to but he probably didn't but there had to be a part of him left. The wind hit the wall behind me and with a backlash kind of effect it created a temporary current that cushioned my impact.
"I wonder if you'll break." Black energy surrounded his hand and then it surrounded me.
Within seconds images flooded my mind. The images were of my childhood, being raised by Chronomon but it brought all of my insecurities to the front and the fact that I questioned my place in life since I didn't know either of my parents. My fears of humans and the fear of losing all that I knew. I saw flashes of my friends dying even though they haven't died. I screamed and grabbed my head.
"Suffer, that is all that you can look forwards to." I watched as an image appeared of Chronomon only to watch him get torn apart and killed before my eyes.
"Stop it!" I cried out, tears were starting to pour down my face.
"Please stop it!" I watched as Chronomon was killed different ways, he wasn't the only one I witnessed die either.
I watched as Takuya, Kari, Storm, and Evan get killed. I watched as my home was burned and destroyed. I saw images of everyone I loved or cared for just dying or being murdered. I closed my eyes but it didn't stop it. It felt like someone was trying to tear out my heart and succeeding at tearing it out. Through the nightmarish images I barely felt the control of my body slip away, I still shook and tears still fell but I couldn't move.
"Maybe I should make your worst nightmares come true." When he mentioned it the image shifted.
The image was of Chronomon and my other friends. They were smiling and safe, they were alive. I almost thought it stopped before they quickly became stained in blood. I watched as my friends bled out and I couldn't do anything to save them. There was nothing within my power that I could do to help or save them. I couldn't get to them, the harder and faster I ran the farther and farther away they got. I screamed again and the image shattered but more replaced it.
"So easy to break, why did they go after the other? You won't even fight back which makes you the easiest target." I opened my eyes; my eye sight was blurry though because of the tears.
"You'll be the prime example of what happens to those who oppose the Demon Lords." Why was this happening?
I closed my eyes and the current horrid image stopped. I waited for something else to replace it but nothing did. It was like a small break yet it didn't last long. Another image of Chronomon came to mind. I waited for him to die in some gruesome way or to claim that I was just a burden and that I hadn't been worthy to raise but he didn't say or do anything and nothing happened to him. I watched him smile.
There might come a day when you have to do something that everything you are resists you, where you have to fight yourself to fight. Do not be afraid Chrono. No matter what you have to be you. Sometimes you have to fight your friends or loved ones to save them. The battles you face ahead of you are far from kind, they're cruel and the forces you'll fight are merciless and will do anything to break you.
The voice flowed into my mind and I remembered. It was from four years ago when the Demon Lords first showed up. Chronomon had given me a long winded speech and at the time I hadn't understood what he meant completely. Sitting here now I knew what he meant. I knew why he had warned me.
They will make you fight your friends and loved ones. They might try and break you by making you fight them. Do not break, you mustn't break Chrono. Remember though crying is not a weakness, it means your human. Be strong though. Fight with everything you have and if that is not enough then push those limits farther and even if that is not enough then just do everything that you can. No one can be a better you than you. Keep your chin up and take everything on, you might be fearful and wish to run but you cannot. One day you'll find those friends that when you stand by them you do not feel afraid of anything. Keep moving forwards so that one day you can find that place you have always desired.
With one last smile from Chronomon within the memory it faded away. The horrid images began once more and even though I cried I knew what I had to do. I felt like I couldn't do it but I had to. I had to keep moving forward and if I backed down now then it won't help anything but just make it worse. My lip quivered as I brought everything that I could muster to the surface. What was invisible chains appeared and they glowed before breaking.
"What, how can you break the chains like that!?" I was surprised myself but I wasn't, I felt tired now.
Despite the images that flooded my mind I stood up and stumbled towards my bow. I grabbed it but I nearly fell forwards when I grabbed it. Maybe it was luck or maybe it was instinct but an attack flew right over my head thanks to nearly falling face first onto the ground. I stood up and looked at him. My heart felt like it was tearing apart and I knew that this would give me nightmares for weeks to come but I had to fight. I can't run away.
"Do you really think you can fight me? You won't survive if you fight me! Once you attack me I'll end you instead of taking you alive and leaving you to suffer." I might just rather die than suffer like this for however long the Demon Lords would allow me to live.
I raised my bow and when I went to pull the string back he raised his hand ready to fire off the bombs again. The string resisted me far more than it had before but I pulled it back anyways, the arrow that formed hummed with energy and when he released the bombs I let the arrow fly. The arrow though multiplied and struck the bombs making them explode long before they reached me.
Suddenly I felt the overbearing heat. Heat was coming hurtling at me; I jumped and narrowly dodged the pillar of sickly white fire that came from the sky. I looked back to him and I noticed that he wasn't happy. I gulped and raised my bow and I pulled the string back and quickly lined up a shot before releasing it. The arrow multiplied and he dodged a few but even when three struck him nothing happened, seconds later he began to laugh.
"That surely isn't the best that you got! That's nothing, that didn't even tickle!" He was far stronger than any other enemy that I faced.
He sent bombs flying at me again. I shot some and dodged some. I tried to shoot him but my attacks did nothing. Even when I tried a few of the spells that I knew nothing happened. Nothing worked on him. I hesitated shooting an arrow at him and I paid the price. One of the bombs hit me dead center in my chest.
I screamed as it exploded and I was flung slightly but I crashed heavily to the ground. He was laughing so hard and tears poured from my eyes and I wanted to give up. I wanted to wake up and find out that this was all one bit horrible nightmare.
"I don't even know why they're afraid of you! You're so weak!" I didn't know why anyone feared me either.
Stop hesitating Chrono. You need to fight now. Get up and fight. You can do it, it doesn't matter anymore. Release it and fight for your friends and your future.
The words surprised me. The words didn't sound like Chronomon but from a woman's voice, it wasn't the blonde haired woman's voice either. It was gentle and soothing, like I knew it but yet didn't know it at the same time. I felt someone run their fingers through my hair and then someone place a kiss on my temple.
Wake up Chrono. Remember what you sealed away so long ago in fear you would hurt someone. You can control it now; you have better control than anyone. Wake up my beloved child.
My eye sight cleared fast enough that I caught sight of what I could only call a ghost. She had white hair and gentle red eyes. She faded within seconds of my eye sight clearing though. Even though I didn't know her and had never met her or seen a picture I just knew who she was. Something told me that whoever she was, she was my mother.
"Lay there and die like the piece of trash you are!" I can't die here and I wasn't trash.
I felt something within me surge and I skimmed the surface of what I had sealed away myself years ago when I was younger, it wasn't what Chronomon had sealed away. I removed the seal and I felt it flow through my body quickly and the pain numb and I felt myself heal slightly. Back when I was child I had the ability to heal myself without even thinking about it.
"I won't let you look like him." He wasn't him and it was a shame of what he was doing.
Using his name and reputation to cause fear and cause havoc. I won't stand it. To save one of my precious people I have to fight. I have to fight him to rescue him. I stood up slowly; I was still a bit wobbly on my feet because I had lost a lot of blood. Even if my wounds healed my blood would take a bit to be replenished.
"How can you still stand after taking a direct hit?" I gripped my bow and I looked at him.
I narrowed my eyes at him and I knew exactly what to do. I remembered what the blonde woman had said. Digimon never truly died. Digimon just went away to be reconfigured and they come back. Only horrible Digimon are not reborn even then it's very rare that those Digimon don't get reconfigured. Even the horrible and evil Digimon get reborn.
"Forgive me Chronomon but I must fight. Once this is all over we can talk about things again, you also have things to explain to me." Raising my bow I pulled the string back.
I realized that the string didn't resist me; the bow was still solid too. The arrow that formed was still a pure white but the ends of it, where the feather would be on a normal arrow, it was red and branched out. It wasn't like a feather though; it was like small wings almost. I took aim and even though he sent a gust of wind at me I fired the arrow. Something told me that it would stay true to its course and hit its target.
When it hit the gust of wind it sailed through the wind like nothing, the wind dissipated actually and was just a gentle caress by the time it got to me. It struck him and to his surprise it pieced him. It caused pain I could tell, the way his face contorted it told me that it caused a lot of pain actually. He hadn't expected to feel any pain though.
"What's so special about you that your power can jump like that?" He screamed the words and he moved and he started to come closer.
Even that arrow wouldn't be enough to stop him. I had to do something. I closed my eyes and as tears fell I pictured it within my mind. It would probably give the strength needed for what was required to stop him. Opening my eyes I watched as circle appeared with the sun like design appeared. I pulled the string back but no arrow formed. As he charged towards me I aligned the shot, the circle moved and I made sure it lined up with him.
"Forgive me Chronomon, release." The seal that he had placed on me years and years ago came unraveled.
I couldn't hold back my strength at all. I would have no time to wait around and have to take time to undo it. I needed all of the strength that I could use. The arrow that formed was pure red but it didn't surprise me for some reason. I released the arrow and as it phased through the white sun like design the white sun was dyed red.
"Red Sun." I whispered the words.
He tried to dodge the arrow but the arrow struck him. I was ready to fire another but to my surprise he stopped. Where the arrow struck him it started to emit a white glow that steadily grew brighter. A red sun appeared covering part of his body, a white circle surrounded it but that too was dyed red. It was the opposite of what happened with White Sun.
"H-how? W-why do you have this power? You shouldn't have this kind of power." I watched as the arrow was lit with white fire.
In a burst of flames Chronomon disappeared, data scattered around where he had been. I was going to celebrate winning, it was a big step forward but my body had other ideas. My legs gave out and I dropped to my knees, my bow clattered to the ground when my grip vanished. I barely held myself from collapsing completely. I couldn't feel anything besides a sudden wave of sleepiness. I couldn't sleep here; they were bound to do something. I need to move so I wasn't in such an open area where I was an easy target.
You did well; you need to practice some more before you use that though. It drains you.
The words seemed to come from the data that rushed past me and it sounded like Chronomon. He didn't sound angry about me undoing his seal. At the thought my eyes drifted to my hands. My right hand had a white circle and a white sun while my left hand had a red circle and a red sun. What was this power? I had a feeling it didn't come from the fact that I was from a world of mages or that I had magic. Something told me that this dealt with something else entirely.
"You really are strong." I glanced at her, she lift my arm and put it over her shoulders easily lifting me up into more of a standing position.
"I wasn't going to let you die by the way, she'd never had forgiven me if I had." She dragged me across the now destroyed stones and what had probably been a garden to a place out of the open.
She leant me against the wall and I saw the pink rabbit, Cutemon I think. It sat on her head and jumped off once I was sitting down before holding her hands out towards me. I was surprised when I saw what few wounds that remained healed and I felt my strength coming back. I couldn't believe that there was a Digimon that could heal.
"Cutemon's pretty handy not to mention she's a really good friend too." I watched Cutemon blush slightly at the blonde haired woman's words.
"I hadn't completely believed it though but I just saw for myself, you really did inherit it. I hadn't expected it. You're title, what's your title. You're bound to have a title besides Chronomon's adoptive daughter." I was confused by what she meant but I chose not to ask, she probably wouldn't answer me anyways.
"DigiDestined of Miracles." I saw her grin.
"Yeah that fits you. They won't come after you after all they'll wheel back in surprise. They didn't expect anyone would defeat Chronomon let alone that it would be you of all people." I closed my eyes and lent my head on the wall.
"I want to sleep then." I was so tired; even if I felt my strength coming back I was sleepy.
"Then sleep, I got her so get going." I opened one of my eyes to look at Lotosmon who appeared.
"You can take a nap but once you're rested and ate you have to leave. I would offer a stay but you need to meet up with the others. It's not safe to be split up and alone now." I closed my eyes.
"I know, thanks for what you are doing though." I heard nothing else because I was pulled under and into a dreamless sleep.
Should I have put a warning on this chapter? Should I apologize for what I did?
