I am so sorry! I feel really bad about this one because I actually had the chapter written. I had fun last month dealing with a very bad allergic reaction that put me on medicine that pretty much knocked me out and I barely slept unless I took the medicine. I had to clean my whole place and try to figure out where the allergic reaction was caused from and it took a long while. I'm actually still dealing with the allergic reaction but it's starting to clear up thankfully. I'm still barely sleeping though.
Um, I hope you enjoy the chapter? Read and review so I know that people are actually reading this still and I'm not just wasting my time? I'm going to delete the authors notes as well.
Chapter Sixty Nine: Rest is No One's Property
[Koichi's P.O.V]
I crossed my arms as I sat on the couch, staring the ceiling. Evan had left alongside of Nori; Nori was going to warn Kari while Evan decided he wanted to head to where Rin was just in case they did attack her. Daisuke and Storm had remained, a kind of awkward silence had settled over us.
"Koichi, Storm I'm going to tell you two something but I'd rather that you didn't tell the others." I looked to Daisuke he was staring out the window once again.
"What do you want now Daisuke?" Storm didn't even bother trying to hide the fact she didn't like him.
"Kari never had the Spirit of Harmony." I sat up from reclining and Storm sat up from lying on the ground.
"What do you mean by that?" Daisuke sighed and he shoulders fell.
"The necklace that she had was merely part of a seal that was put on Lucemon; the actual Spirit of Harmony isn't bound to something physical." He looked over his shoulder and he looked at me.
"You become Rhihimon when you get the Spirit of Harmony, right?" I wasn't sure how he knew but I nodded.
"How does he have access to Rhihimon if Kari doesn't have the Spirit of Harmony?" Daisuke looked at Storm.
"There was a spirit attached to the necklace." Daisuke nodded.
"A DigiDestined named Yune used the power of her crest to the point she shattered her crest, her soul became bound to the seal that she used her own life force to create for Lucemon. She used herself as a seal against Lucemon. Yune claimed to be the Spirit of Harmony so she could hide the true dwelling of the Spirit of Harmony." Where was the Spirit of Harmony then?
"We need the Spirit of Harmony to fight, Daisuke." Storm was standing now.
"I know, that's why I'm going to tell you two something that no one knows. I only found out by accident, a turncoat tried to buy his life with information." Where was the Spirit of Harmony if it wasn't already in possession by Kari?
"Please tell me we're not going to have to fight through the Demon Lords just to reach the Spirit of Harmony; the Spirit of Harmony is one of the only hopes we have against the Demon Lords." Storm had stood up and begun to pace slightly.
"The Spirit of Harmony resides through a gate that can only be opened by an 'unimportant person'. There's a guardian that guards the Spirit of Harmony though." I narrowed my eyes slightly.
"Daisuke, we don't have time for cryptic words. Spit out what you know already." He groaned and let himself fall backwards so he laid on his back staring at the ceiling.
"That's all I know Koichi, I wish I knew more. All I know is besides that is that Takeru talked about infiltrating somewhere was his new mission from the Demon Lords, they said that he had access to the Spirit of Harmony if everything went well." The Demon Lords knew and it was a race against time then.
"We have to figure out what they knew but thankfully we have an unintentional lead." I looked at Storm.
"Please tell me I didn't overlook something that'll make me feel really stupid once your say it." Despite the situation I couldn't help but laugh at Daisuke's words.
"Takeru was given the mission right? He has to infiltrate somewhere right? Takeru has multiple parallel versions so one of his parallel versions may be the one that actually has access to the Spirit of Harmony." That's right yet there's no telling which of his parallel versions would have access to the Spirit of Harmony.
"There's no way to tell which version though Storm." She looked at me before sighing and crossing her arms.
"Well we can just track Takeru, right?" She cocked her head to the side as she asked the question.
"If you figure out how to do that then tell me please, it would be lovely to know how to track them." My shoulders dropped at Daisuke's words; that's right it was next to impossible to track one person out of a slew of versions.
"Chrono can do it easily; she's done it for a long time in truth. She's kept tabs on Zeal and I throughout the years because she worried about us." Chrono, wait.
"Where is Chrono?" She had stayed with us but she wasn't here anymore.
"She stayed back with us that I know but, is she still here?" If she left I hadn't noticed her leave.
"If she left she's a freaking ninja." Daisuke sat up as he declared that.
"Chrono, you here?" Storm called it out, her voice echoed yet there was no response.
"Chrono?" Storm went down the hallway to where Chrono had last been, she had retreated to the computer room that Tai had said she could use since she had said she wanted to look something up before Kari woke up.
Something wasn't right. I stood up and went down the hall to the computer room, Storm stood at the doorway staring inside. I hesitated but I walked up behind Storm and I saw why she was staring. Chrono was sprawled out on the ground, white hair fanned out and covering her and the ground. There was blood trails from her eyes, as if Chrono had cried blood.
"Chrono!" Storm rushed to Chrono's side, Daisuke joined me at the doorway suddenly.
"What happened?" I shook my head but we stumbled backwards.
Storm had been thrown back by something; whatever had thrown her had thrown her right at us. Since we hadn't expected it Daisuke and I crashed to the ground with Storm on top of us. I groaned and sat up slowly, Storm had scrambled off of us pretty quickly. Storm was kneeling on the ground staring at Chrono.
"We have a major issue you two." I looked to Chrono to try and figure out what Storm meant before asking her.
I got the answer and figured out what she meant. Red energy shimmered over Chrono's skin, like a dust but it was bright enough to be noticed. Something wasn't right with Chrono. My eyes widened when Digital Script appeared below Chrono in some kind of pattern. The letters were a vile purple color, dark and distorted.
"Why is someone trying to use the summon prompt that Amaya created?" Daisuke's words confused me since I didn't know who Amaya was or why she had created a 'summon prompt'.
"That only works on Digimon." Storm's words ended up with me giving a nervous laugh.
"I have no clue what you two are talking about." There was a spark and Chrono seemed to glitch, like a Digimon did at times.
"Amaya is a DigiDestined that sides with the Demon Lords, she created a program if you want to call it that so that she could summon the Demon Lords and gets them around without causing a fuss and giving away their movements to everyone who watched them." Storm stood as she spoke.
"That program only works with Digimon though so why is she trying to use it on Chrono let alone using it on Chrono period?" Daisuke was also on his feet, I stood slowly but then I remembered something.
"Didn't Cutemon say that Chrono only came to be through an experiment that 'Amaya' preformed on Snow?" I had a very good guess at what that experiment was right about now.
"I see where you're going but if that's right then we're screwed because Amaya also created a program for near perfect mind control." Daisuke growled the words out and Storm entered the room without saying a word.
"Chrono, wake up!" Storm was met with a shimmer of vile purple light that tried to repulse her yet again but there was spark of electricity.
"You might want to back down Storm!" Daisuke called the warning but Storm didn't heed it; whatever tried to strike her was met with a faint wall of electricity that receded once it gave up on trying to reach her.
"Do you happen to understand what's happening Daisuke? Chrono is clearly some kind of threat and she was raised by Chronomon. What do you think will happen if any possible situation that I know you're also thinking about actually happens?" Storm was forced back but only a couple of feet, she stumbled though and crashed to the ground.
"We'll be beyond screwed if my thoughts are right." Daisuke surprised me, he attempted to charge into the room and get to Chrono.
The word 'attempted' is the key word, he was met by the same thing as Storm was but I also noticed why they seemed so desperate, Chrono was almost completely gone. Chrono was sinking through whatever kind of gate that had been opened. Daisuke though didn't get repulsed, something in his pocket glowed and he slipped through what I'll dub a force field.
"Whatever you guys hear, remember what you've learned." Daisuke called it back, he had grabbed ahold of Chrono's arm but he was sucked into whatever was sucking Chrono in.
They were gone; there were no traces of either of them having even been there. At the second before Chrono had disappeared completely Daisuke had grabbed her arm. Well there was proof of them having been there, an object sat shining on the ground. The object gave off a blue glow that didn't show any sign of dimming. I stared at where they had just been.
"I thought that only worked on Digimon?" Storm was still sitting on the ground staring.
"Daisuke was given a bracelet so he could use those to, him and Takeru have a bracelet that lets them pass through the gates. He must've still had it on." Even if she answered she didn't seem to be fully aware.
"We have to find out where Chrono and Daisuke went." She snapped out of what I bet was shock and stood up.
"Yeah." Hopefully it wasn't somewhere with a Demon Lord.
"Well look at that, he wasn't lying." Storm seemed stunned, she had walked over to the shining object.
I walked over to see what she was staring at. There sitting on the ground was a Digivice, it was like the one Tai had but it was glowing an aqua blue. Wrapped tightly around the Digivice was a chain that had a crest attached to it, the crest bore interlocking circles and you couldn't tell where one began and where the other ended.
"Daisuke Motomiya, aka the DigiDestined of Bonds." Storm bent down and picked up the Digivice and crest as she spoke.
"He couldn't get this to glow so brightly if he really worked with the Demon Lords." Storm stood up, looks like Daisuke just won Storm over to believing that he wasn't trying to pull some elaborate trick on us.
"Traitors die Koichi, we have to get to them before they kill him." I gulped when she declared that.
"Do you know how to track someone?" She shook her head but then she gripped Daisuke's Digivice.
"Actually I do, I don't know if he knew and that's why he left this or if it was an accident." There was spark and suddenly the still shining Digivice was floating between Storm's now out held hands, a sphere of electricity had formed yet it was hollow and his Digivice floated within.
"I learned a trick from Gallantmon that allows me to track someone, DigiDestined only though because I have to use either their Digivice or Crest. Well I'm pretty sure the Digital Cards might be able to be used as well." I let out a sigh of relief.
"I love how we disagreed to go and rescue Kari's mother and uncle because we knew it was a trap but now we're faced with the same choice. Going to rescue Chrono and Daisuke is obviously a trap as well." I bit my lip, I had hoped Storm wouldn't voice that because I was trying to ignore that reality.
"I was trying to ignore that fact Storm." At least Kari had Gatomon, Wizardmon, Tai, Koji, and Takuya with her but it would just be Storm and I.
"Are you going with me or am I going alone?" I was surprised by Storm's question, for some reason she almost sounded fearful.
"You're not going alone." She closed her eyes after I spoke.
"Please let this work." She muttered the words as the electricity sparked brighter.
I watched stunned as electricity formed in the air around us. I watched as the electricity formed a map of sorts. There was a blackish blue dot and then an aqua blue dot a good distance away. A line of pale electricity connected the two, zigzagging between blocks of pale electricity. I stared at the map floored; Storm could do this and all she needed was a Digivice or crest?
"As long as they're still together then Chrono's there as well." I looked at Storm, she was looking over the map.
The electric sphere had collapsed and she held Daisuke's Digivice and crest in her hands now. I was surprised though because on the back of her hand the map was slowly appearing, as if it was being etched into her skin. I grabbed her arm and she looked down. I looked at her when she gave a low laugh, she gave a slightly pained smile.
"Don't worry, it'll heal Koichi. Gallantmon warned me that would happen when I used that method, it stings a little but its fine." The electricity that formed the map vanished but the map that was etched into her skin remained, even with dots of blood the map was still readable.
"We don't have time to waste so let's go." I released her arm and nodded.
"We can't ever catch a break, can we?" She laughed and shook her head.
"Nah, not now at least. Hopefully once this is all done we can take some time to ourselves and have a break." One day, hopefully one day we'll get a break that doesn't dance to the tune of someone's schemes.
"Should we call Evan?" We had left the computer room when I asked.
"While it wouldn't be smart to go by ourselves I don't think we should. If we call Evan then Rin will be by herself right? Right now it's split even between her and us. Hope you don't mind being the target because if they attack someone it'll be use since her partner is Beelzemon." I bit my lip but I stopped once out the door.
"Storm, why has no one defeated the Demon Lords if we can easily tell who they'll target?" They were supposed to be so great at plans but right now we could tell who would be targeted and who wouldn't be.
"Even if they did know who would be targeted, did they have the strength to repel the Demon Lords once they attacked?" Storm looked at me and I shook my head.
"Probably not." Their strength makes up for some of the holes in their plans then.
"After all look at Belphemon, it took us all and we still got pretty banged up to deal with the stupidest of them. He wasn't the strongest, which would go to Lucemon or Daemon." I curled my hands into fists, this battle would take a while yet.
"Let's concentrate on getting Chrono and Daisuke back first though, we can worry about that stuff later." Storm had grabbed my shoulder, some of the tension that had built eased.
"We both need to focus on the task at hand, especially since it's just the two of us." I took a deep breath before nodded.
