Okay. Hey guys! I know. This story is coming to an end. Chapter 35. The last chapter before the Epilogue. I can't believe it. I can't believe that this story is nearly over.
Let's continue, shall we?
Here we goo!
Percy:
I watched as Annabeth smiled as the wind blew through her hair. We were on the top of the Empire State Building.
I remembered this one time when my mom took us here when Annabeth was upset about her parents. She loved it. She forgot about her parents. That was before Gabe. Before Gabe entered our lives and made me stop talking to her.
"Percy? Can I ask you something?" Annabeth asked as we walked to the edge.
"Sure."
"Why did you stop talking to me?" She asked, a little sadly. Our hands weren't grasped anymore. I missed the heat of her tiny palm.
I looked at her. That was what she was still worried about, now?
"It doesn't matter anymore. We're talking now." I said as we looked at New York City. Everything looked so small from up here as if all our problems are nothing but tiny things compared to the bigger picture.
"But it does. I want to know." She demanded. I sighed. I looked away from her face and towards the city.
"Gabe. Gabe threatened that if I continued talking and being friends with you, he was going to make his friends hurt you and your family." I responded. She gasped. I continued.
"I didn't want that. I was eleven, Annabeth. What was I supposed to do? You know, he used to abuse us. He thought that I told you. So he got scared that you'd go to the cops." I said.
"I had to do it." I ended.
I looked at Annabeth who looked as if she was about to punch someone again. Gods, she could throw a punch. Luke's nose started bleeding the minute she left the room.
"If only you would have told me." She said. I nodded. She leaned into me and I wrapped my arms around her and kissed her forehead.
"I don't know what I'm doing wrong." She said suddenly. "Why did he cheat?" She asked me.
I looked at her.
"You didn't anything wrong, Wise Girl," I said, stroking her hair. "It was him. Hell, if I had what he had, I would never do that to you."
I reeled back immediately. Why the hell did I say that?
"I know." That was all she said and we stayed in silence. It was quiet but it spoke volumes. With her head on my shoulder and my arms around her, I could do this forever and ever. If I could.
She didn't know what she did to me. She didn't know that my heart pounded in my ears when she's near or that I knew she was near to me before I even saw her.
I don't want to do this too early. I didn't want to mess this up.
I loved her. I know did. Then why is it taking so much just to tell her this?
Annabeth:
I'm doing this all wrong, how did I fall for Luke's façade when Percy was right here in front of me?
What is wrong with me?
The night was falling on New York City as it lit up in the darkness. All those lights were so beautiful.
I looked up at Percy, the lights reflecting off his eyes and face. I've been waiting all my life and here the love was but why did I make a mistake?
He didn't notice me staring at him. He looked down at me, finally.
How did I not know how special he was? Why did it take so much time for me to know?
We took each other in. He tucked a stray part of my hair behind my ear. And we stared and stared and stared.
Did he know? Did he know that my heart is literally beating out of my chest? Did he know that everything is brighter if he was here? Should I tell him?
Tell him that I loved him?
I widened my eyes at my revelation. Why did this take so damn long?
I wanted to stay by his side through everything. I wanted to share the highs and ups of life. Right now, as I stared into his sea-green eyes, I saw our future.
I saw us moving into a new house. I saw us at dinner. I saw our children around us. I saw him dancing with our son and daughter. I saw us grow grey and old. I saw our grandchildren.
I saw us dying, together.
I saw our musical love move around us.
Percy:
I'm not brave enough to straight-up tell her. So I'll show her. Our musical love.
She stared at me and tilted her head up as if she was waiting for me to show it. To show her my love for her.
I kissed her. And the world exploded around us.
Everything didn't matter anymore. The only thing that did was her and only her.
She kissed me back her lips moving with mine and I pulled her even closer. I put everything in this kiss because I have died every day waiting for her.
And here she was. Right in front of me.
Mine at last.
Annabeth.
And here he was. Right in front of me.
Mine at last.
