Juvia licked the salt between her thumb and index finger befor shooting down the tequila and sucked the lime wedge. She grimaced and turned to face Gajeel.
"You are just telling Juvia that you have a girlfriend for three months? Juvia can't believe you, Gajeel!" she yelled in third person which had been her habit everytime she had a drink.
"Well, we haven't seen each other in three months." he pointed out, grumbling. "It's not something I want to tell you over the phone."
Juvia pouted. "Okay. So when am I going to meet this lucky girl, huh?"
"I haven't tell her about you yet, so.."
"What?!"
"Calm down." he said and flicked her forehead. "I'm telling her soon. I've been busy with the shop and she's still in college so it's hard for the two of us to even meet. You'll probably meet her in a month, at best."
She snorted. "Fine, fine."
"So what are your plans? Have you tried applying for a job?" Gajeel asked and took a shot of his vodka.
Juvia turned silent. She just graduated from college with her Accountancy course. But life after college was even harsher than she expected. She thought that with diploma and ojt experience in hand, she would be able to land herself a good company or position. But no, companies were prioritizing people with experience rather than a new graduate. Well, how could she get one when no one would hire her?
She was only able to get by because of playing games and live streaming. She sold her old accounts in other games to earn a lot, and she did. She had no problems with money at the moment, but it wasn't her dream.
Playing games was her passion and she loved doing it, but she wanted to have something stable and secured. The game industry wasn't so easy to cruise. It wouldn't be always peaceful and sunny. There would come a time where games she couldn't excel would be released. And the last thing she wanted was to be frustrated because of it.
"I haven't," Juvia finally answered, turning sober. "I will when I'm ready, Gajeel."
He didn't speak and they drink to their hearts content. They talked about other things like what was his girlfriend like or how did they meet. She also mentioned that she partied with someone in the game and it surprised him.
Juvia really planned to ignore that player, but when she saw him activating his skill, she changed her mind. His element was ice, a variation of water. And that was only possible if players trained their mana for hours in the training hall.
She was impressed and since he didn't look like a scammer with his shining shimmering epic equipments, she invited him for a party. She was glad she did. Even if the experience was halved, it was acceptable since it only took one fourth of the time it would usually take.
"icewizard, huh? Kinda familiar. I might've seen that username in the leaderboards."
Juvia shrugged, she haven't looked at the leaderboards. "I'm level 21 now, you?"
He smirked. "23, you've been left behind."
"I'll reach that level tomorrow, don't worry. The next day, I planned to solo dungeons, the mid levels, so I'd catch up to the top by then."
He scowled. "It's good to be you, just staying in the house all day, playing. No job but still earning. And here I am, with a car shop but still part timing."
Juvia giggled. "I told you to do livestreams, but you won't."
"I don't do that kind of crap. I just wanna play some game to relieve some stress."
"I know."
After their get together, Juvia went home. She took a bath and made herself sober. It was just ten in the evening, so she decided to log in.
She was selling items in the auction when she received a whisper from Ice. "You busy?" he asked.
Juvia pressed her lips together as she remembered his voice. It was deep, kind of husky and for some reason he wouldn't get off her mind.
She promised herself not to get involve with anyone but this player was making it hard to do so. Just because of a voice! She didn't even know what he looked like but she was crushing on him because he had a hot voice. Yes, hot, damn hot!
Juvia didn't respond to his whisper and instead went to the blacksmith shop so she could have her newly obtained dagger enhanced. It was gold ranked, which she obtained from Ice. It was dropped by the Bandit Boss the second time it was killed and he exchanged it for the gold ranked Slayer mantle she got from the first kill.
"Real busy? Or ignoring me?" Ice whispered again.
Juvia bit her lip and typed, "Oops, I'm killing mobs," she lied and ran back to the teleportation array. She teleported to Rosemary Highlands and searched for the mobs she needed to kill for her quest. The avarage levels were 24-29 so there were already some players around.
"Map? Can i join?"
Juvia closed her eyes, she didn't really want to be bothered by others but this icewizard was different. She didn't mind teaming up with him and they have good coordination. Also, he really had a seductive voice and it was pleasing to the ears.
It was in game only, anyway, so maybe it wouldn't matter? She could get him to help her kill some bosses she wanted and enjoy the company of a hot voice at the same time to, you know, increase her motivation. Not that she needed it since money was doing its job.
"Sure but go to magnolia quest board first, to accept the Ghost quest. Then come here in Rosemary Highlands," she replied and breathed. Oh yes, she was simping for a voice, hard.
"I have that quest on my list already. Wait a bit."
When he arrived, he requested a party right away and she accepted.
"Hey, how have you been?" Ice's sexy voice rang through her ears.
Juvia blushed. "Fine, just got back from a little night out. You?"
"Bummed out. My exams just finished and it was tiring."
She didn't expect for him to elaborate like she did. A smile formed her lips.
"Good thing I'm done with those," she said as their avatar ran around the highland, searching for a good spot to farm.
"You've graduated? You're older than me?" he said, sounding surprised.
"How old are you?" Juvia asked, not really waiting for a reply. She predicted he would try to change the subject or something since not all players wanted to reveal information about themselves to people they weren't familiar with.
But he answered. "Twenty-one. You?"
Juvia moistened her lips. Definitely younger than her. "Twenty-two."
"Heh, just one year." he replied, amused.
When they found a good spot, they started killing the Level 25 Ghosts. Juvia would lure three of em to their spot, and she and Ice would kill them together.
"Do you have a guild or a team?" Ice asked, his ice lances piercing through the Ghosts.
Juvia slashed her dagger which she forgot to enhanced earlier. "Nope. I'm not interested." she replied before he could think of recruiting her. She could see a guild insignia on his clothes so she was quite certain he belonged to one. Asking her that kind of question, his agenda was obvious.
"Even if it's just a team?"
"Yes, I don't do teams. Party is enough."
Juvia equipped mana on her dagger before slicing the Ghost in front of her. The critical hit improved and she was delighted. If she succeeded enhancing her dagger, her damage would increase by half.
"How about a team with just the two of us?"
Juvia was distracted after hearing that and her speed slowed for a bit. The Ghost took advantage of that and stunned her, but Ice was quick to save her.
"Thanks," she said as she landed beside him. "Aren't this enough, though? We can just party whenever we're available."
"You're right." he agreed and Juvia was determined to forget about it.
