Chapter 10: Christmas In Wonderland
It was Christmas Eve and Jervis and Alice were currently spending the evening together at Alice's place with Christmas themed candles lit all over and a nice warm fire going in the fireplace. Jervis had normally spent his holidays alone, even before he was first sent to Arkham, but it was nice to actually spend Christmas with somebody else for once, especially when it was someone as special as his beloved Alice. They had their gifts for each other under the tree which was decorated in a decent amount of Wonderland themed ornaments. The couple themselves were looking out the window and watching the snow fall. "Isn't that beautiful?", Alice asked Jervis as she was talking about the snow falling on the ground and covering everything in a lovely blanket of white. "It is very beautiful, but not as beautiful as you, my love.", Jervis told her while smiling at her. Alice blushed and kissed him on the cheek in response to that remark. "Well, how about we start opening gifts?", Alice asked as she headed towards the tree. "But shouldn't we wait until tomorrow because tomorrow's Christmas?", Jervis asked. "Well, it was a tradition in my house for everyone to open just one present on Christmas Eve and open the rest the next morning. There's no harm in that.", she said. "I suppose not.", he said as he met her at the tree. They both kneeled down next to the tree and picked out one gift for the other. "You go first.", he told her. "Okay, here you go.", she said as she gave him a present. It was a pretty big box and he started tearing at the wrapping paper right away. He saw that the gift was a brand new tea set complete with both cups and a pot. "Oh, Alice! I love it!", Jervis said as he looked happily at his gift. I figured the Mad Hatter could use some new china to have for his tea parties.", Alice said. Jervis then handed Alice her gift which was in a smaller box. She opened it and saw a beautiful diamond necklace. "Oh, Jervis! It's absolutely beautiful!", Alice said with happiness. Jervis then put the necklace around her neck and said, "You deserve it more than anyone in the world. I love you so much, Alice.". "I love you too.", Alice said back. They leaned forward and rubbed their noses together. They then went over to the couch and Alice said, "I have an idea on what we should watch tonight.". "Oh, really? What's that?", he asked. "Since it's snowing, I was thinking we could watch Frozen. Have you ever seen that?", she said. "No, I haven't, but I hear how much it's loved by everyone.", he said. "Yeah, and you're never too old for a Disney movie.", she said. "That is true. I really only watched the cartoon that Disney made of Alice in Wonderland, and that's it.", he said. "I used to love both Beauty and the Beast, and The Little Mermaid the most. But Frozen is really good too.", she said. "Very well. I'm curious to see it.", Jervis said. "Although don't be surprised if I sing a long to some of the songs. They are pretty catchy.", she said. "Nothing you can do or say could ever annoy me.", he said. She then put on the movie and began to watch it. Once the movie was done, both of them were amazed at how good the movie was. "Wow, that was a truly frabjous movie indeed!", he said. "Yeah, it wasn't the first time I've seen that. I really love Olaf and the love story between Anna and Kristoff is so cute.", she said. "Yes, and I'm glad that bastard Hans got what he deserved with how he lied to and betrayed Anna.", he said. "Yeah, and I'm glad Elsa was able to control her powers, save the kingdom, and be with her family again.", she said. "Yes. I do feel pity for her as far as her feeling different from everyone else. I know what that's like as I grew up isolated and disregarded by my parents as well.", he said looking down sadly. Alice then comforted him by saying, "But you're not isolated anymore because you have me. I love you more than anything, Jervis! I'll always be by your side no matter what.", she comforted him. "Thank you for everything, Alice. You are and always will be the one bright light in my life.", he said smiling at her. He then took out his pocket watch and saw that it was getting pretty late and he did feel pretty tired. "I'm pretty tired. I think I'm going to bed.", he said as he got up. "Me too. How about instead of the guest room, you come sleep with me. And I mean just as far as sharing the same bed and cuddling.", she offered. "Would that be alright?", he asked for assurance. "Of course. Come on, sweetie.", she said to him. They got into more comfortable nighttime wear and got into bed together. She snuggled up to him and they put their arms around each other. "Merry Christmas, my darling.", he said to her. "Merry Christmas.", she said back to him and kissed his cheek. They eventually ended up falling into a deep sleep while holding each other close.
