Chapter 12: A Mad, Mad Wedding

The big day has come for Jervis and Alice's wedding. They decided to have it at the old church in Park Row because of its old charm. Jervis was currently getting ready as far as getting his tux on and making sure he looked as good as possible. He still found it hard to believe that his dream of finding true love and happiness had finally come true and was about to marry the girl of his dreams. Even after everything that happened between them, they still ended up together. "You ready, Jervis?", a voice asked behind him. Jervis turned around and saw Bruce Wayne standing at the doorway as he was invited along with his former ward, Dick Grayson, Grayson's girlfriend and Commissioner Gordon's daughter, Barbara Gordon, and his current ward, Tim Drake. "Oh, yes. Yes I am, Mr. Wayne.", he answered. "Glad to hear it and congratulations. You and Alice deserve a happy life together.", Bruce said as he extended his hand. They shook hands and Jervis said, "Thank you. That means a lot. I'll be right out.". Bruce then left and Jervis looked at himself one last time in the mirror. "The time has come!", he said as he referenced the Walrus's quote in Through The Looking Glass. Jervis then made his way to the alter, but still waiting on his soon to be wife. Meanwhile, Alice was getting ready herself by finishing her makeup. She was in a long white wedding dress with a bouquet of flowers to the side that she would take to the alter with her. "My God, you look absolutely beautiful!", said a voice behind her. She turned around and saw her mother staring at her in awe. "Oh, thank you, Mom. I'm honestly really nervous.", she said. "Don't be. This is a very happy day for all of us and I couldn't be more proud of you.", her mother said. "Thanks and thank you for being so welcoming to Jervis.", she said. "Honey, of course, I know he will do his best to make you the happiest woman in the world. Much more than Billy ever did.", she said. They then shared a warm hug with Alice's face buried in her mother's neck. "Come on. Your future husband is waiting for you.", her mother said as she walked out with her daughter hand in hand. There weren't too many guests, it mainly consisted of Alice's family, with Bruce Wayne and his family. Jervis was at the alter with Father Michael Stromwell as the priest. He was extremely nervous himself with the fact he was about to be married. The music began to play and Jervis saw Alice looking more beautiful than ever in her wedding dress with her father at her side. When they reached the alter, her father handed her off to Tetch and said to him, "She's all yours now, son. I trust that you'll make her as happy as possible.", her father said. "Indeed, I will, sir. Thank you.", Tetch said he shook her father's hand. "Love you, baby.", her father said as he kissed her on the cheek. "Thank you, Daddy.", Alice said. Her father then joined her mother at his seat. The ceremony then began with the priest saying, "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to unite Jervis Tetch and Alice Pleasance into the institution of marriage.". "Do you, Jervis take Alice to be your wife? To love and to cherish for the rest of your life?", he asked Jervis. "I do.", he said while looking at her. "And do you, Alice take Jervis to be your husband? To love and to cherish for the rest of your life?", he asked Alice. "I do.", she said while looking at him. "I understand both of you have prepared your vows for each other.", he said. Jervis did his first by saying, "Alice, most of my life has been nothing but loneliness, obsession, greed, and envy. But all that changed when I met you. You saved me from myself and showed me the light. I promise I will make you as happy as can be and dedicate myself to you now and forever.". She went next by saying, "Jervis, I went through most of my life being a bubbly, happy girl, but was still waiting for someone special to come into my life. I'm glad to say that that someone special is and has always been you. Even though our relationship has had its ups and downs. I am glad our paths still led to each other. I will never love another, and I promise to be the best wife to you as I can and to make you the happiest man in the world.", she said. "Now by the power vested in me by the city of Gotham, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.", the priest said as he moved out of the way for the couple. Jervis and Alice took a moment to rest their foreheads on each other and gaze into each other's eyes. They then met lips and shared the most passionate and loving kiss they have ever had. They held each other tight with pure longing as they kissed as they were now officially married. She was now Alice Tetch and that sounded just right to the both of them. They then separated lips and walked down the aisle together with everyone in the crowd cheering them on and clapping their hands. Both of them looked at each other happily as they walked as they were confident in their future together.
