Another day in Sweet Pop is usual as Poppy was cleaning the counter when Branch arrived with a delivery of flavorberries. He arrived very exhausted from all this flying.

"Ooh, flavorberries, where did you get them?" Poppy asked him.

"Holly's parents told us that Holly is busy getting deliveries of fertilizer so I decided to get the flavorberries you ordered." Branch gasped.

"Thanks, Branch." Poppy squealed. "I thought you went to the Naiad Hot Springs?"

"It was supposed to be my relaxation but the owner of the place told me that it got booked for a mermaid rave, which was planned by Antonio Delgado!" He complained.

"You mean Synth?" She asked him.

"Yeah." Branch sighed.

"You should try and be friends with him." Poppy convinced him.

"But I don't know if I could be friends with him, he's loud and loves to party." He complained.

"Branch, if you want to be friends with him, try to be a friend." She said.

"Poppy, we got an order of Arepitas de Maiz." An employee called to Poppy. "And it's from Miranda Sandiego."

"Great!" Poppy gasped. "But what are Arepitas de Maiz?"

"I dunno what the fuck it is." He nodded.

"Okay, what do we need?" Poppy asked her.

"We need cornmeal, baking powder, milk, unsalted butter, salt, sugar, and eggs." Branch answered. "We will mix the ingredients together, and fry them like patties until we have Arepitas de Maiz."

"That's wonderful!" Poppy squealed. "We can try using the recipe on the internet."

"Don't we first do a trial and error?" Branch asked her.

"No time, we need this order fulfilled." She nodded. "But do we need Synth's help making this?"

"Aw c'mon, why do we need Synth? We can handle this." Branch smirked.

In the kitchen, Poppy and Branch tried hard to make the dishes but on each and every try, they failed. Then, Synth arrived in time for breakfast.

"Hola amigos, I heard you're going to make Arepitas de Maiz for a sprite friend of mine from the same country as I do." Synth said as he drove his wheelchair next to them.

"Yeah, but we failed because we don't know how to make it."

"That's alright dude, they're your test Arepitas de Maiz but now, you're gonna learn how to make it for real." He said.

"You know about Arepitas de Maiz?" Poppy gasped.

"Arepitas de Maiz are mini fried patties made from corn flour." Synth answered. "These pastries are made in the Dominican Republic. They are easy to make and they can be enjoyed as a side dish, main meal or as a snack, as well as a breakfast option with a cup of hot chocolate on the side."

"So, the flour we will use is the same flour my abuela use to make tortillas, tacos, tamales, you know what I am talking about." Branch asked.

"Si, and mi mama love to make those for me as well!" He answered. "Hey Branch, right?"

"Yeah?" Branch asked.

"Do you have a rave name? I gave Rose hers, which is Firethorn." He answered. "Oooh, how about Dubstep?"

"Not recently." Branch sighed.

"Hey Synth, my love!" A mermaid with olive skin shouted to Synth as she arrived in the cafe, riding in her wheelchair. She has dark blue curly hair, neon blue eyes, bluish-purple tail with light purple spots on the edge. She wears an apple-green hoodie shirt with a teal heart and short green and blue arm patterns on the sleeve, a teal sash with a seashell, and a dark blue skirt. She wears black round glasses and a green tie in the lower part of her hair, a purple-pink beaded necklace, and a bracelet on her left wrist.

"Hey guys, meet Laguna Tidepool, my girlfriend." Synth introduced her.

"Hi, Laguna!" Poppy greeted her.

"Namaste!" Laguna said hello to them but she noticed the kitchen is messy. "What happened here?"

"We tried to make Arepitas de Maiz but we failed." Branch replied.

"It's alright, I had the same situation with my mom when I try to make laddus on my own but it failed." Laguna said. "But my mom decided to help me make them until I finally got it. Don't be afraid to try again."

"Thanks." Poppy thanked her.

"What are we waiting for, let's cook Arepitas de Maiz!" Synth shouted as he joined them in the kitchen.

Immediately, they started to get to work. Synth taught Poppy how to make the batter properly with the help from Laguna Tidepool while Branch tried hard to fry it. In the process, Branch and Synth become friends. For their free time, the two try out sea urchin acupuncture, whirlpool surfing, and treaditation. After a few minutes, the Arepitas de Maiz is finally cooked to perfection and it's finally done.

"They look delicious." Branch said.

"We gotta get these to Miranda Sandiego." Synth called out. "She really needs it in time."

Poppy and Branch immediately hopped in the van and drove to the place where the fairy lived. They finally gave her the Arepitas de Maiz and she paid them.

"Hey Mira, sorry if they took so long, we are still learning how to make them." Branch apologized.

"It's alright, it wasn't easy for them to cook something new, but at least you tried." She answered.

After the delivery, they went back to the cafe to continue serving the customers. The next day, it was a day off. Branch went to the hot springs for his relaxation when he noticed that Poppy is there, wearing her yellow swimsuit. The mermaids and mermen are having their rave in the other hot springs.

"Poppy, what are you doing here?!" Branch gasped.

"I came to see you, is there something wrong with seeing my boyfriend?" Poppy asked him.

"No, it's fine." He said embarrassingly.

"What are you waiting for?" Poppy said as she dove into the water. "Join in."

"You're on!" Branch smirked as he dove right after her.

The two swam for a few minutes until they finished. After their relaxing swim, Branch and Poppy returned to the cafe, only to see that Synth and the other merfolk are having a rave inside. There are more customers coming to the place because of it.

"I thought you were in the hot springs, raving?" Poppy asked him.

"We already finished it but here, we want to have a thank you rave for you." He answered.

"Wow, Synth, you brought more customers here with a rave?!" Branch gasped.

"Yeah Dubstep, we wanna thank you by hosting a rave here." Synth said.

"Well, I guess it will take time for me to get used to this." He sighed.

"Yeah Branch, they have their own way to thank us." Poppy said as they both joined in the thank-you rave that Synth hosted inside the cafe.
