Chapter 14: Big News
It had been a few months ever since Jervis and Alice got home from their honeymoon and things were still going really well for the both of them. Things were still how they normally were in Gotham as far as villains like Joker, Scarecrow, Two-Face, and all the rest of those guys plaguing the city and Batman constantly foiling their plans and sending them back to Arkham. Although, it was nice that Batman didn't have to do that for Jervis anymore now that he finally found happiness with the love of his life. A few nights ago was the first time they were actually intimate with each other and he'll never forget how wonderful and loving he was during that night. Something, she assumed her ex would be the exact opposite of. Right now, she was currently waiting for him to get home as he was out to do some things and she had some big news to share with him. It was getting close to dark when Tetch came home and Alice eventually ended up falling asleep on the couch. She was awoken to the sound of the door opening and closing, but was still glad to see him nonetheless. "Hey.", she said to him. "Hey. Sorry did I wake you up? I didn't realize you were sleeping.". Jervis said apologetically. "No, it's okay. I was just resting my eyes a bit. So, where were you at?", she asked. I went to Best Buy to pick up parts for my work. I didn't find exactly what I had in mind, but it'll do.". he said. She then got up from the couch and went over to him. They gave each other a brief hug before Jervis said, "Are you alright, dear?", he asked as he could feel something was bugging her. "Yeah, why?", she asked. "I can just feel you trembling is why I'm asking.", he said. "If anything, I'm trembling from joy and excitement. I have something I need to tell you.", she said with anticipation. "Okay, what is it?", he asked with curiosity. She took his hands in hers and looked him straight in the eye when she began to talk. "Jervis, I'm pregnant.", she said. Jervis went wide-eyed after what she just told him. "Pardon me?", he asked just to make sure he heard her right. "I said I'm pregnant. We're going to be parents!", she said excitedly. Jervis was currently taking a moment to process the information that his wife just gave to him. "Oh, my! That's absolutely wonderful!", he said. "Is it? You just seem a little unsure?", she asked. "No, I'm just shocked, but it's a good shock. I just honestly never thought I would ever be a parent. But I'm glad I will be. This is truly the happiest moment of my life.", he said as he gave her a warm and assuring smile. They then kissed each other and hugged again. "You're going to be a great dad! I know your parents weren't really there for you growing up, but I know you'll be better.", she said. "I hope so. And you will be a great mom as well.", he said back to her. "Thanks, I'm looking forward to it, but I'm not looking forward to the getting fat part as well as the mood swings before the baby comes. I hope I won't end up being too much of a handful for you.", she said. He slightly chuckled at that and responded by saying, "You're never too much of a handful for me, Alice. I'll be here for you every step of the way.", he said to her. They looked at each other lovingly knowing that their future together just got even better because now they were going to be parents.
