Dawn

Apologies for the very long delay of this chapter, I intended on having posted this chapter much sooner but I got busy and then a few problems happened which caused this long delay

I, unfortunately, had to rewrite chapter 13 again…

but after long last, it's finally done, and here

Shimmer (POV)

It's early pre-dawn, everything is still dark outside, an occasional white spec of snow can be seen in the window just for a slight breeze to sweep it away…

Everything was quiet, everything was peaceful…

A sudden strange sound awoke me in the early hours…

I tiredly looked around in the room, first at the door then towards Aurora, and then the egg which has taken on a shiny greenish-purple color, I at first didn't notice anything out of place other than the fact that Silver wing was not there,

I were about to go back to sleep when suddenly a sharp click tap tap sound resounded throughout the room,

I quickly looked in the direction of the sound… towards the… 'The Egg?'

I were confused for a bit until I heard a cracking sound and a small crack started to form on the surface of the egg

I quickly jumped up in excitement as I realized what was happening.

"Aurora! it's time!" I gently nudged Aurora who gave off a displeased grunt

"Hhmn? Too early…" She moaned

I nudged her again "It's hatching"

"What's…?" Aurora slowly opened her eyes

"The egg is hatching," I said just as another few cracks appears on the surface of the egg

Aurora looked up toward the egg and quickly realized what is happening jumped up with sudden excitement

"Already?!" She made her way over towards the egg which was next to the fire pit

"Whoa, calm down" I joked as I came to stand on the other side seeing a large crack that formed on the side

I shot a small flame at the fire pit to add a bit more heat to the fire

"What should we name…?" Aurora started to ask when suddenly a knocking sound could be heard on the door.

I went to open the door just to see Dracon standing outside holding a small basket that smells of fish.

"Oh hello Dracon, I didn't expect to see you… now at this moment…"

"I heard you yelling at Aurora to wake up, I presume it's hatching then," Dracon said, cutting straight to the point

"Oh yeah… Come in then" I heard a cracking sound again

"Another large crack!" Aurora exclaimed

I quickly made my way over just to see another crack form soon followed by a slime-covered head poking out of the egg soon followed by a pair of legs and wings…

I watched in amazement, having never seen a dragon egg hatch from up close.

Aurora was also equally amazed and excited

I briefly looked back towards Dracon who was smiling.

I looked back at the little purple dragonet who were trying to get a piece of eggshell off of its head

"So… what are you going to name her?" Dracon asked, breaking the brief silence

"I don't know…" my eye caught a brief glimpse of a snowflake outside the window which pulled my gaze towards the window, the sun was already beginning to peek out from behind the horizon… "Dawn…" I softly mumbled

"Dawn?" Aurora Questioningly inquired, "That… yeah, I like it" She finished

"Good choice" Dracon softly mumbled

"Well then, Welcome into the world little Dawn…"

Draconigen (POV)

I were sitting in the Great hall with one of Hiccup's giant maps open in front of me and a smaller incomplete map next to it, I were holding an old leather-wrapped book in which I were busy writing down note,

I looked up toward a few loud bunches of Vikings who seemed to already have had a few too many

I put the book down as I reached for my pencil when someone opened the doors of the great hall letting in a cold breeze which caused the one map to fly halfway across the great hall and also caused a few pages to get blown

I sighed as I looked up to see Fishlegs who were heading this way.

"Morning Fishlegs," I said in a friendly but firm voice

"Hello uh…?" He paused, not knowing what to call me.

"You can call me Dracon" I politely inquire

"Have you heard that the egg hatched and…" Fishlegs started, letting his excitement show.

"Yes, I were there when she hatched"

I carefully started to fold the map I borrowed from Hiccup.

"Oh, what kind of dragon is that!" Fishlegs excitedly asked as he saw a drawing of a green dragoness with violet eyes in my book

Sigh "None you'll ever find nor see in this world" I dishearteningly replied as I looked at the drawing, "She was a Forest dragon from the Ancient forests…" I quickly closed the book showing the leather-wrapped cover with a Dragon sigil on the cover

"Anything else you care to ask or seek?" I quickly asked as I placed the folded-up map into my book.

"I-I wanted to ask about the dragons from where you're from… if there are dragons there" Fishlegs nervously asked

"Well, Dragons don't exist in the lands I grew up in, but after my travels, I came upon a world… land where dragons do exist and are considered highly important, but I soon came upon a place where only dragons live where no human has ever been and never will ever be" I tapped a finger on my book

"The drawing you saw is one of those dragons… I continued to travel a lot in search of someone special to me, so that's why I'm here now" I turned around to see if I can spot my map which was halfway across the Great hall

"Oh, I wish to have a chance to see one of those dragons for myself…"

"Careful what you wish for, it might happen sooner than you expect" I turned around and held my right hand toward the direction of my map which suddenly flew straight into my open hand which seemed to have startled most everyone who noticed, which were not many.

"H-how did you do that?!" Fishlegs exclaimed in awe or surprise

"Magic" I simply answered as I quickly walked away leaving a confused Fishlegs behind…

Aurora (POV)

I were silently watching the small little dragoness who was fast asleep in Infront of the fire pit, It feels strange to be watching over a small dragoness, especially now that I'm a dragon myself,

I was pulled out of my silent thoughts as I heard the soft rasping of the door opening and the soft tapping of claws on wood, I looked over towards the door just to see Shimmer.

"Is she still asleep?" He asked as he came over to sit next to me.

"No, she's wide awake," I sarcastically responded, giving him what I hope is a smile or an attempt at one.

"A sarcastic answer for a stupid question, I guess I deserve it," He said as he gave me a small nudge.

"Yes you do" I jokingly agreed, I got up and started to make my way over to the door

"I hope I don't run into those twins again like last time"

"They tend to be difficult to ignore, but they aren't the worst"

"It's not like I really talk to anyone other than you" I paused at the door for a moment

"Okay then, just don't get into trouble" Shimmer jokes

"Now where have I caused trouble…" I cut my sentence short as I remembered yesterday at the docks a sudden feeling of guilt came over me, "...Sure"

I quickly took my leave and took flight heading towards the great hall to see if they have any chicken or such.

I saw Dracon emerge from the great hall as soon as I landed

"Oh hello there Aurora, did not expect to see you" He was holding a strange leather-wrapped book which quickly caught my attention

"Likewise..." I immediately got a bit nervous after yesterday "I-i'm sorry about what happened yesterday, I don't know why I did that…" I quickly stopped apologizing when he put his hand up, gesturing for me to stop.

"No need to apologize, the fault is with me most, I sometimes affect certain creatures or Individuals, I'm still working on resolving that" Dracon partly confessed

"Yeah, you need to explain that, I'm still confused, especially about what you said back in the cove and… how you could… Shapeshift?" I shook my head a slight bit

"You will understand soon enough" He quickly looked back towards the Great hall for a moment

"Too much clamor and noise back there" He motioned back toward the Great hall.

"Thanks for letting me know" I gave the Great hall a disdainful look.

"We can always go for a small flight around the island if you don't want the noise" He gave a soft chuckle as he started walking to which I started following.

"I'm not the best at flying though, I only recently learned how to fly…" I nervously admitted

"I can always help you a bit, but my methods of teaching are a bit… strange," I noticed that he was not holding his book anymore which caused me to look back to see if he hadn't dropped it, but it's nowhere to be seen.

"So… how are you going to be able to help me with flight if you…" My thoughts jumped back to yesterday where he shapeshifted into a dragon "...Oh… right, you can become a dragon…"

"In all honesty, I had to learn quickly on my first time, but I'm luckily a quick learner" Dracon continued to walk.

"Where are we going?" I asked as we went down a wooden ramp toward a lower section of the village.

"Just going to a more open area where there are fewer eyes, I don't want to scare some of the folks here, the Nords tend to have a few superstitions" He slowed his pace as we came upon a relatively quiet area, "This spot looks good I guess"

I gave him a questioning look as we stopped

"What are we doing here again?"

He motioned for me to stand back a bit which I did,

His strange amulet suddenly started glowing bright blue color before casting a blue light over Dracon at the same moment he started to change shape, he started to form wings and scales along with a long prehensile tail, his transformation only took a few seconds before it was completed

I could not believe my eyes, he had changed into a Dark blue Scaleshifter, he looked almost like Shimmer except for being a darker shade of blue with no green scales.

I stared at him in disbelief as I watched Dracon stretch his wings.

"H-how?" I momentarily stood there trying to find the words…

Dracon looked back towards me with slight confusion

"This feels a bit strange" He lifted his left talon, inspecting it before changing his scale colors to red, green, purple, and back to blue

"How… where did you learn to do that, and how could you change into…?"

"...Into a dragon-like you?" Dracon finished my sentence "It's a long story, but after I touched you… I in a way gained the capability to become what you are." He opened his wings in preparation to fly.

"Too bad Shimmer ain't here to join us" I mumbled

"Hmm…" Looks off into the distance "Maybe I can figure something out" He quickly took flight

I soon also took flight following him toward the basalt beach.

It didn't take long to reach the stone beach where a few Groncles were busy munching some of the stones next to the cliff.

"So… how did you come to be a dragon," Dracon asked as soon as we landed

I were momentarily silent as I thought about it

"I can't remember… All I can remember is that I was on a ship and there was a dragon attack… the next thing I was on the beach with a bite mark on my leg which was glowing… then there was this excruciating pain and then… I was like this, a Nadder took care of me until Dragon trappers killed her and nearly caught me, but Shimmer saved me…"

"Dragon Trappers?!" Dracon suddenly responded with a concerned expression

"Y-yes…?" I were confused by his reaction

He went silent as he looked off into the distance

I decided to break the silence quickly before it gets worse

"So… what are you doing on Berk of all places?"

He sighed as he snapped out of his silence

"It's a long story but… I'm Searching for my Daughter…"

Dawn (POV)

Warmth… comfortably warm, a slightly strange noise awoke me, I slowly opened my eyes, sharp light shining from the bright flickering fire, a big blue Dragon with green horns sleeping nearby, his soft quiet breathing very relaxing,

another strange sound sounded again, louder this time, a grumbling sound, A gnawing feeling in my stomach...

I started to smell something, something delicious,

I slowly and awkwardly made my way over toward the source of delicious smell, a small basket next to a large bowl of water.

I peeked into the basket and saw a strange thing inside covered with ice and snow. I pulled out one of the smaller of the few Fish in the basket which was partly covered in snow. I nibbled the tip of a fin before starting biting off larger pieces which I just swallowed whole.

After I finished off with the fish which left me covered in fish blood, I inspected the bowl of water, intrigued by it, I jumped into the bowl knocking the bowl and its contents over.

I stared down at the spilled water with a slight bit of interest but soon returned my attention toward the rest of the large room cave along with the big blue dragon who only stirred a slight bit.

I slowly made my way over toward the large blue dragon while at the same time looking around and investigating everything I come across.

I gave the big dragon a small nudge then backed away, it didn't respond, I then nudged him again and again seeing that he's not reacting, I decided to climb onto him, I quickly froze in place as the big dragon stirred its head, blowing a small puff of smoke out of its nostrils.

I carefully made my way over toward his head, avoiding the sharp green spikes on his back along with his green horns, I placed my paws on the top of his head which caused him to stir again, I looked down and saw two green eyes looking into min

"Hello Dawn" The words sounded inside my head making its meaning clear, I somehow understood every word almost like I already knew the meaning of it

"Helo… Hellloo…" I tried to repeat the word but it felt strange…

A strange feeling suddenly overcame me, almost like someone watching from within…

'Ah, you're awake, little dragoness, I can sense something special within you, I will see you again soon…'

The strange feeling vanished as soon as it appeared leaving something behind, something that opened my eyes to the world around me…

A tail gently wrapped around me lifting me up and off of Shimmer's head as he gently lowered me back down to the floor.

I gave Shimmer a confused look knowing that it was not him who put that message in my head.

But who…?

Finally, after many months of delays... I finally finished Chapter 13; Dawn

I yet again apologize for the long delay and hope to provide more frequent updates

I hope you all enjoyed this chapter
