Kelly´s Pov

A week after I finished the academy I started at my new assignment at truck 75 where I started as the new Candidate who needed to do all the nasty jobs in and around the firehouse, in the following month I got used to the rhythm of what it was like working on truck 75 my first fire was a structure fire on the line of the districts where house 51 and 98 touched this was the first time I saw Matt again, he had turned into a great firefighter who had it in him to climb the ladder fast I immediately felt the urge to protect him against any danger during the call and I was drawn towards him again. this is also the first time I saw squad 3 in action. This was the moment I decided to start my classes to become a squad member.

In the upcoming months, I started training to become a squad member I finished all courses well ahead of the end of my candidacy on truck 75, I asked for a transfer to squad 3 and it went through the upcoming shift I would be starting at house 51 squad 3, they only problem I had not told Casey or Gabby about my transfer into house 51 and onto squad 3. Three nights before my first shift would start as the youngest member ever of squad 3 I went to the bar that was owned by Christopher Hermann secondary in command on Casey's truck as I walked by the window I see Casey and gabby with a strange man sitting at the bar with drinks in hand the hand of the stranger lingering on Casey's leg both of them with a wide smile on their faces talking happily to Gabby. I imminently turn around and walk back to my apartment just three streets away from house 51 without noticing that gabby saw me.

As I walk into house 51 for my first shift I hear two people shout my name I am then unmediated engulfed in hugs from Gabby and Casey, who were already present in the house even though it was two hours before our shift was supposed to begin I was called into Chief Boden's office where I got the rundown on how shifts worked. That is when a call came in for the entirety of house 51.

Matt´s Pov

The call alarm went off in house 51 "truck 81, squad 3, engine 51, ambulance 61, battalion 25 structure fire at 60604 224 S Michigan Ave #113. immediately the house was in a commotion firemen rushed to their spots on the engine, truck, or squad. As I ran to my spot behind the driver on the truck and there we went on call the first time I saw Kelly in action went great we all handled our parts perfectly and finished to call with a good ending. A couple of hours I stepped into the office of chief Boden in there with him was my captain Tilburg how was up for promotion to battalion chief. "Matt sit," Boden said, "Captain Tilburg and I have been talking and I would like for you to become my lieutenant on Truck 81". I started fumbling with my words, Ye …. Yes, of course, I would love to. I came out of Boden's office with a shocked face, Cabby came up to me as I stepped into the common room with worry on her face "what happened?" she asked with a little tension in her voice. Everything is fine I…. I just got a promotion I'm the new lieutenant of truck 81, I said as Herman came into the common room and stared at me with a shocked face, "o you're kidding me Herman said while starting to laugh, thank god chief finely found a person how will run the truck as It should be.

Just as Gabby and I were walking out of the house at the end of the shift I got a call as I looked at the caller Id I saw it was Jay I answered as I felt a tap on my shoulder "wait a sec babe" is said as I turned around I stared into the face I know all too well the face that I had fallen in love with the first time I saw it, "Kelly… what can I do for you?" I asked nothing he said while walking away with a sad face.
with a frown on my forehead, I turned around and put the phone to my ear yes babe.

Kelly's Pov

As I walked away from the man I had begun to fall in love with I started to feel sorry for myself, so I called the one person that did care how I felt, Shay my only female friend how I did not had slept with, this was because she as soon as we met clearly stated that she was not into men and was happy to just be my friend and on some nights my wing woman. So we went out to a couple of bar's and clubs but as soon as the cab that we had taken from a strip club stopped in front of Molly's I started to feel bad again because I knew how would be inside and I also knew that who I would find with him was not just our friend gabby so I turned on my heels and dragged Shay with me to my apartment where I immediately made a b line to the kitchen where I got a bottle of vodka and emptied it for a quarter in one gulp. At this Shay started to think why I was drinking so much and only after I had seen we were going to go to molly s. So that was the night I told her how I felt about my friend and co-worker Matthew Casey the cute blond I had seen for the first time in the academy and how I never looked at another person since I had first laid my eye on him.

Shay took it pretty well after I poured my heart out and confessed to her that I was head over heels for the guy and that he was currently in a relationship with a cop a cute one I could I agree but that was not the point.

The next day I went to shift as if nothing ever happened and if I had not secretly confessed my love for the one man that would never want me and could never have me.
