To Himiko, Ochako was the most beautiful woman she had ever seen. She had meant it when she said that the other girl was a sight for sore eyes.
The fight with Ochako's two fae friends had been unexpected. Really, all she wanted to know was where Ochako was. It's not like she asked for a vial of her blood and a strand of her hair. Himiko would never purposefully hurt her Shore Girl. However, while the fight had been annoying, Himiko was glad to see that Ochako had a protective little family of her own. The fairies' protectiveness over Ochako reminded Himiko of her own crew.
When Magne had thrown the lightning wielder, it led them directly to Ochako. Of course, Himiko thought that Ochako was going to join the brawl when she finally caught a glimpse of her. Her sleeves were rolled up to her forearms and her skirt had been tied up and out of the way to free up her legs for a larger range of motion. She stood in a defensive stance - legs apart, shoulder back, fists up - and her face was hardened with a look of fierce determination. Ochako looked akin to a powerful goddess hellbent on getting revenge. Himiko found this incredibly awesome and attractive.
Like - wow.
This illusion was only semi-broken when Himiko rushed forward to hug her.
"Hello to you, too?" Ochako said, her voice adorably confused.
Himiko pulled away while Ochako rolled down her sleeves. She didn't untie her skirt, though, which Himiko thought was fair. If one of her friends had been thrown several dozen feet with enough force to leave a small crater behind, she would be defensive, too.
Dabi, the annoying fuckass, just had to open his mouth and ruin Himiko's admirational analysis of her beloved Ochako.
"Expecting a fight, princess?" Dabi said, gesturing to Ochako's tied skirt. The smug grin on his face pulled at his scars. Himiko thought this was incredibly infuriating, and would be sure to kick him in the shins later.
"Wouldn't you, if one of your friends came flying out of the woods saying that he was attacked by a group of people?" Ochako said, responding to Dabi before Himiko had a chance. Both Ochako and Dabi stared each other down, neither of them willing to look away first.
Without breaking eye contact with Dabi (and apparently not expecting a response from him, either), Ochako said, "Himiko, would you mind making introductions?"
The sputtered response of "Ochako, you know her?" from the green-haired lightning wielder was ignored by Ochako, but Himiko couldn't resist.
"Of course she knows me! We're courting!"
Both of Ochako's friends seemed to almost choke on their spit in shock.
"What do you mean 'courting', kero?"
The noise (a croak, really, if Himiko's hearing was correct) that came from Ochako's other fae friend, the woman, was what finally drove Ochako to look away from Dabi.
"Bless you?"
"Yeah, we're courting! The necklace that she's wearing is like several different courting gifts combined into one!"
The necklace looked even more spectacular in the sunlight, pearls and chain shining around the tiny skull. Himiko smiled at how good it looked around her beloved's slender neck.
Ochako stopped for a moment, blinked, and then sighed. Himiko thought that she heard her mumble something about being tired of surprises, but she wasn't quite sure that was what she said.
"Let's unpack everything later, after we've made introductions."
The two groups settled around the fire (that Ochako had built long before Himiko and her crew had shown up) to begin introductions. The tension between them all was thick but there seemed to be a silent agreement that they would at least be civil with each other, especially with a little girl sitting among them.
Himiko had been briefly surprised when, as they had all gotten closer to the fire pit, a small child with silver hair and a horn on her forehead had crept out from behind the bushes and latched onto Ochako's other hand (Himiko had been holding one to begin with). Ochako didn't question it, and so Himiko had shrugged to herself and continued to walk alongside the rest of them. She wasn't the only one to look confused at the sudden presence of the little girl. Even Ochako's friends (especially Ochako's friends) were surprised.
The fire ring was small, and so was the fire. During the altercation it had been reduced to glowing coals. The rest of the large group began to sit as Ochako took a moment to rebuild the flames. Himiko sat almost directly behind her, and the crew began to fill in beside Himiko. Magne sat next to her on her right hand side. Jim tried to sit on Himiko's left (which was the spot that she had saved specifically for Ochako) before Himiko waved him away to sit on her right, making Magne scoot away so that he would fit. It occured to Himiko that Jin could have levitated above them, but if wanted to be level with the group Himiko wouldn't begrudge him. Atsuhiro sat beside Magne, and Dabi sat on the other side of Atsuhiro. While most of the group leaned towards the fire to gain some warmth, Dabi leaned away from it. He had always been weird around fire, though he had never told Himiko why. Only Tomura knew, and it almost seemed as if Dabi's secret would go to both of their graves without anyone else knowing it. Spinner (who sat closer to the fire than almost anyone) sat next to the lightning wielder, who had the green-haired fae woman on his other side. It wasn't until Ochako and the little silver haired girl sat down that the circle was complete.
Before she sat down, though, Ochako untied her skirt and let it flow down to her ankles. It flared out around her prettily as she sat down with her legs tucked underneath her and her weight on her right hip. The little girl sat down on Ochako's left. She was almost in Ochako's lap with how close she was to the older girl. She slowly reached for Ochako's hand, as if she was afraid to get caught. Himiko recognized those movements, and she recognized the scared look in the other girl's red eyes. She had, at one time, seen that look on her own face in the mirror. It had taken years of being with her crew - her family - for her to understand that didn't have to always be afraid. A dose of fear was healthy, but she didn't have to be afraid around them. They were safe. Whoever had made this little girl be afraid to even reach for a comforting hand would be on the working end of Himiko's blade if they ever crossed paths with her.
Ochako saw what the little girl was doing and offered her hand to her palm up. The little girl smiled, and Ochako smiled back. Ochako's other hand, hidden underneath both her own skirt and Himiko's as well, grabbed onto Himiko's. Himiko smiled wide and laid her head on Ochako's shoulder.
There was no idle chatter anywhere around the fire. Both groups were eyeing up the other, always on the defense and ready to strike if need be. Ochako shifted ever so slightly and brushed her forehead against Himiko's temple. "I want to speak with you privately, after this." She said, and turned her attention back towards the rest of the congregation.
"Alright. Do you want to start the introductions, Himiko, or should I?"
