A/N: I was asked for some SasuSaku smut. How could I say no? I hope you enjoy!

A/N edited: I was reported as this was too graphic. So I had to take out the smut. If you'd like to read the whole thing, go to my AO3 story: /works/35642743. For those who can't find it, my username is Reindrops

Sasuke Uchiha, lone survivor of a clan slaughtered at the height of their power, knew what it felt like to be alone. More than most, he knew the empty feeling in the hole of his chest was something that numbed over time but never completely healed. Even now, all these years later, he felt the loss of his mother, his father, and his brother when he stopped in each village, helping them repair the damage after the war.

His need for revenge and vengeance only distanced himself further from those around him, fraying already fraught relationships with the people around him. How foolish that mentality seemed, and it made him cringe every time he was reminded of how close he had come to crossing that line he never would have been able to come back from.

It was a strange feeling now, after never letting anyone get too close to him, of always being alone, he had someone to go home to. The fact he had a home to go back to at all was mystifying, but that there was a person he wanted to see, that he longed to see was something wholly new to him that he didn't know what to do with the feeling.

The fact that it was Sakura wasn't all that surprising. She had loved him far longer than he deserved, and far more than he had thought possible. Her resilience and faith in him was unwavering and terrifying. How could he ever live up to the man she deserved, the man she needed? He didn't know, but he was trying his damnedest to get there.

After the war, after he had left and come back, it had been hard finding a place amongst his team again. Amongst Naruto and Sakura. The two of them knew each other better than Sasuke knew them both combined. He had no one to blame but himself, he chose to leave, he chose to keep leaving.

Finding a place next to Sakura had been easy; she let him into her world, her heart. After they had started dating, when Sasuke would spend the night, she'd wake up from nightmares. When she'd avert her eyes, he pulled away, deciding to give her space. He didn't know what the nightmares were about, but Sakura didn't talk about them, and he didn't want to overwhelm her.

Sakura never told him what she dreamed about, but Naruto told him over ramen one night after he had asked Sasuke why he wasn't with her.

"Why isn't Sakura here? You guys have been attached at the hip lately, you know?" Naruto asked as he inhaled his ramen.

Picking at his own bowl, Sasuke shrugged, "She gets these nightmares."

Naruto glanced at Sasuke, suddenly serious. "The ones of you?" When Sasuke's eyes narrowed in confusion, he continued, "Of that day you almost…" Naruto hesitated, and Sasuke knew what he was about to say before he finished the sentence. "killed her."

Wincing, Sasuke closed his eyes. He wasn't that person anymore. That had been a kid hungry on power and blind to all else. Surely Sakura saw that he wasn't that person. But Sasuke knew better than most that trauma took time to heal.

"Then it's better I give her space." Honestly, he'd probably been doing the best thing for her, letting her unwind from those dreams.

"You idiot; it's not better!" Naruto cried, slamming a fist on the counter. "She needs you there to comfort her, not disappear for a couple days and feed into the nightmare version of you she has in her dreams. Wouldn't it make more sense to work through it so she stops having the nightmares? Go home and talk to her right now."

Honestly, it was the best advice the dobe's ever given.

Sasuke didn't even finish his meal before he turned and left, hating to admit that Naruto was right.

No one knew Sakura like Naruto, but Sasuke was determined to earn the right to say the same. One day, no one would know Sakura better than Sasuke.

Sakura miraculously was home, having the night off from the hospital. When she opened the door, Sasuke blurted out, "I was dumb."

Sakura chuckled, leaning into the door, her pink hair spilling over one shoulder, her green eyes bright and playful. "Were you?"

This Sakura was one Sasuke still marveled at being able to know. Cute, funny, and happy. That smile she was aiming at him made his heart skip. She opened the door further and motioned Sasuke inside. She was wearing black leggings and an oversized sweater that made her look cozy and comfortable. Sasuke thought she was the hottest woman he'd ever seen.

"I shouldn't have left," he said as he sat on one end of her couch. When she frowned, suddenly serious, he realized those words could mean any number of times. That thought made him wince. "After you have your nightmares." He clarified.

"Oh," she sat on the other end, pulling her knees up to her chest, Sasuke knew he had to fix this fast.

"Naruto told me what you dream about," Sasuke started again. "That they're about me." He didn't want to say it, what he'd almost done. "I shouldn't have left. I thought giving you space was the right thing."

"You could have talked to me about it," Sakura said defensively. "I didn't ask you to go."

"I know," Sasuke nodded. "I'm sorry, Sakura. For not talking with you about it first, for your nightmares, for everything."

Sakura crossed her legs in front of her. "I know you are, and I don't hold anything against you. I guess I still think you'll get bored with me one day, that you'll realize I'm that annoying kid that followed you around all the time, and leave." She hesitated a moment, unable to look at Sasuke before she continued, "Or that you'll leave and never come back."

Taking a deep breath, Sasuke turned and scooted closer to her, reaching for her hand. "You are my home, Sakura. Not Konoha. You. Wherever you are is home. I'll always come back to you."

"Really?" she asked, squeezing Sasuke's hand gently.

"Yes. I'm sorry if you've felt this way all this time." When would he be done apologizing to her? When would he stop doing things to make her doubt herself? To stop doubting him? It would take time, he knew. But he would do whatever he had to do to earn her trust, her love, her faith.

"I feel like this is a theme between us," Sakura laughed sadly. "We need to do a better job of communicating our fears and doubts and issues."

Sasuke nodded in agreement.

"No more running away or keeping things to ourselves, okay?" She leaned into him, and Sasuke leaned towards her, resting their foreheads together.

"Okay."

Sakura tilted her head, leaned forward, and kissed Sasuke's lips. Sasuke released her hand and brought it up to her neck, pulling her to him, deepening the kiss. Her hand fell to his thigh, tingling beneath her fingers, her touch like fire igniting under his skin.

Shifting to her knees, Sakura trailed her hand over his stomach, up his chest, over his shoulders, to tangle in his hair, pulling gently at the nape of his neck. Sasuke let out a delicious moan, she swallowed with her lips. She relished the sounds she could pull from him. It was a treat only for her.

"Bedroom?" he asked, pulling away slightly, Sakura leaned forward, chasing his lips.

"You don't want to do it on the couch?" she laughed, breathless.

"Not again. Too uncomfortable."

"Fair enough." She kissed him once more, grabbing his hand and pulling him along to her bedroom.

Sasuke shut the door behind him and spun Sakura around suddenly, causing her to stumble slightly into his chest. But she was giggling as he maneuvered them so her back hit the door, and he pinned her arms above her head, kissing along her jaw, down her throat.

They came together, their bodies tangling with one another before they moved to the bed. They'd done this before, but Sasuke loved reacquainting himself with Sakura's body. Here they were a team, moving in sync bringing each other pleasure.

After, they wrapped around each other, holding each other. Before sleep could claim him, Sasuke said. "I am yours."

He could feel Sakura smile. "As I am yours."

He tightened arm around her before resting his head against the top of hers and let sleep come.
