Something happened. It was a good 3 days before they were to leave, that the other female member approached him. They had been outside and Will had been drawing a landscape. He was getting better and better a drawing. Then a shadow obscured his work. When Will looked up, El was standing there. She looked a bit scared and insecure. So Will quickly got to his feet and stood in front of El. "What's wrong?" Will asked. "Can you walk with me." El asked. Will shook his head.
While they walked, El looked like she was going to say something then decided not to. Will, well being Will, felt awkward and out of place. "Did you need to ask me something?" Will asked. "Yes." El said. It was a while before she talked. "I was going to say sorry." she said. Will was surprised. "What- Why are you sorry?" Will said, stumbling over his words. "Max told me that you apologized to her." El explained. Will mentally slapped himself. "Oh, that was nothing. I was being childish." he said. "No. You weren't." she said. She stopped walking and so did Will. El turned to look up at Will. "You weren't being child-ish." El said. Will shook his head. "It was nothing really." he replied. "Well, Mike said you were upset about it." she said. Of course, Mike would tell her as well. Will doubled his mental slaps. "I am sorry if I ruined it for you." El whispered. "No, Mike,Lucas, and I, were fine. You didn't ruin anything." Will spoke quickly. "Oh." she said. And the two kept walking in silence. "I was wondering, only if you wanted to. I was wondering if we could try again?" Will said breaking the silence. "What?" El asked. "Maybe we could try and be friends." he said. "Are we already friends?" she asked. "Yes, but with everything that has happened… we don't know much about each other as we should." Will said. El put her hand out and said, "Friends." Will shook her hand and they continued to walk.
The following week, El and Will left Hawkins for good. It was a sad departure. The place they both called home, and they were leaving it. They wouldn't be moving far, but it still hurt Will. Knowing his friends would be miles away instead of minutes.
Their drive was long, it took almost two days to get to their new home. When they got there, Will helped Jonathan and El unload their things. When Will got into the house, it smelled new. The living room was bigger than their last. The kitchen was big as well. Everything felt out of place. But it was new, and it was good for their mother. So, with a sigh, Will lugged in another heavy box. It was awfully quiet, so Will opened a box and pulled out the boombox. He looked for a frequency. When he found one, there was more of a happier mood in the house. Will started to carry in more boxes, almost all of them he brought in. No, Will wasn't fully happy but the music help lift his spirts. When they were unpacking their things, Will took the music and put it between the new hallway. It was bigger than their last. Wider and less cramped. Three bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, and a living room. As Will unpacked his belongings, his body began to sway to the beat of the song. He didn't know the song, but it was good. He would maybe have to ask Jonathan what it was called.
"What's that?" El asked. "Hm? Oh," Will replied; "its dancing." "You dance funny." El said. Will rolled his eyes, but gave a small smile. "Thanks." Will said. It was quiet and Will started to feel awkward. "Can you teach me?" El asked. "Teach you..to dance?" Will questioned. "Yes." she said. "Um..okay." he said. Will had never taught someone to dance. He remembered what Jonathan had told him. Will had been six when he heard "ok" music. Jonathan had told him to, "sway to the beat, that means move your body Will". "Um..you..um..move your body." Will stuttered out. "Follow my moves." He said. Will listened to the song for a few seconds, then he closed his eyes. He let the music take him, moving in weird ways and not making sense. When Will opened his eyes, El was doing the same as he was. She looked less awkward than him, but this was a good start. She opened her eyes, and smiled. A true smile, not the one she had been giving everyone lately. That made Will smile. He knew that they would be having more dance sessions in the future.
