Luna flies through the cosmos in a space pod. Her mind lingering on just a few days ago.
"You want me to what!?"
Luna looks up from her kneeling position at Cooler. He flexes his fingers as he stares down at her with a stoic glare.
"Must I repeat myself? Gather your remaining Equestrians scattered amongst Frieza's territory and bring them here."
"But why haven't you retrieved them yet?!"
She snaps at him standing to her feet. Cooler's eyes brighten with a red light but to his surprise, Luna's own eyes brighten with a baleful blue hue. He has taught her well within the short time frame they've shared together.
With his eyes dimming down as he relaxes in his throne, he smiles at her.
"All the Equestrians you see on Planet Hoof are the ones that I could gather. Those already wandering space just outside of Frieza's grasp. The Equestrians I speak of are the ones stationed on other worlds before his shoddy attempt at a cleansing."
Luna relaxes herself with her eyes locked on her twisted teacher. She reluctantly nods and returns to her kneeling position as he continues his debriefing.
"It would seem Dodoria and his ilk still live as does Zarbon, his two most trusted enforcers. Your first task is to find and eliminate these two before bringing your kinsponies to their new homes. Without his yes men to keep him happy, it will be all the easier to make a fool out of my little brother. That will make it easier for me to take his throne."
Luna didn't want to admit it but this is a plan she could get behind. Cooler may have framed his ultimate goal as a prank on his little brother, and to the Frost Demon it rather is, but to all others this is an invasion. An usurpation. The start of a war between the expansive Frieza Empire and the ever-enduring Cooler Empire.
"Do we know where they currently are?"
Cooler scoffs into a pleasant snicker as he reminisces on that fateful day.
"When Frieza destroyed your world and the monkeys, Zarbon told him he was after the numerous escape pods that left Planet Equestria, when in fact he fled after seeing the two planets combine into one army against Frieza. Dodoria however is rather odd, as he was sent to kill some Saiyan team, but hasn't returned in years... I don't believe him dead, his power exceeded that monkey team, but something must have happened... Hence you shall go after Zarbon first. He is on Frieza Planet 313: Planet Gauche."
Luna nods. She has studied with Slug already about the many planets, dead worlds and living hubs, all owned by Frieza beforehand.
"I will eliminate him after I extract the information from him about the rest of my kind... But Lord Cooler. I must ask this. Why have you allowed so many Equestrians to live?"
Cooler raises a brow at her.
"The same question... But, fine. The use a Saiyan has and can be done by one. In fact, the same could be said for several races. Salza can speak over three-thousand languages, Dore is unrivaled in physical prowess save for my family, and Neiz is technologically savvy enough to do most work on my ship and other devices himself. The team you see around here are merely extended hands for him, lowly assistants to make up for his inability to be everywhere at once for me. They are the best of their kind and I have no need for any others... However I cannot treat your kind with the same level of thinking."
He brings up a screen detailing the lives of those on Planet Hoof. The Apple Family, New Canterlot, from stores to mines and schools to construction.
"Each Equestrian is fitted for a unique purpose, though capable of mastering other things, there is one skill no other entity within this universe that can excel them in. There is also the matter of Equestrian magic and how it is fueled by emotion, as well as by others, an emphatic field that greatly exaggerates their capabilities in all things."
The screen then shows various angles of individuals, markings on their bodies in various places, all in someway relating to their current task.
"These unique skills can be identified on their bodies when discovered, a symbol manifested called cutie marks. Surprisingly, you already have yours. Most don't retrieve them until adulthood."
Luna tilts her head until it dawns on her as she brushes her left flank. She understands then as Cooler nods.
"The moon... I am not sure what that means, but I have an idea. You might be the ultimate leash for those Saiyan brutes... But this is just a theory of mine and it doesn't pertain to the original subject matter. Your mission. You know it and now I send you off to do it. Go."
Luna growls under her breath thinking back. How was Cooler even aware of her cutie mark? It dawns on her then in their many torturous training sessions that he saw it after practically destroying her every time. Her old clothes, once sacred traditional garbs of Namekian Sorcerers, practitioners of the old magic has been rendered to ash.
Now wearing the same armor as Raditz and the Armored Squadron, she knows she'll be attacked on sight by either Frieza's Army or the Slug Empire. As she lands on the planet, she finds herself surrounded at once by Frieza Force soldiers.
"Hey! Get out of there and identify yourself or else we'll blast you into fireworks!"
Luna complies as the hatch opens for her to step out. The aliens stationed here are all flair, no substance or any real significant power, especially compared to her. Before she can be questioned further, Luna eliminates each soldier with surgical precision using her newest technique, a lethal beam fired from a single finger. The Death Beam, an iconic killing move of the Cold Family. By the time she gets to the last soldier, she pauses as he throws himself to the ground in prostration.
"Wai-Wa-Wait! Please! Don't kill me too-! I-I'll do anything!"
"None of you are dead, yet. If you'd like to keep it so that you and your friends still live? Get me Zarbon."
She glares coldly at this helpless whelp that scrambles away. However, just as he begins to flee, he is eradicated by a bombastic beam leaving a crater behind. A rather audacious laugh sounds from above as a tall man lands from the sky. Green hair and teal skin with a cape adorning the large shoulder pads of the Frieza Armor.
"You already have my attention, little one. I've always found you Equestrians to be beautiful, but annoyingly righteous, but you're different... What would you want with me?"
He continues chuckling as his scouter reads her power to be in the high thousands. His power is far above that, in the tens of thousands. That is until he is pushed back by a terrible gale. A powerful wind that nearly knocks the alien off of his feet while his scouter rereads Luna's power.
"Eight thosuand-! T-Ten thousand...?! O-On-One h-h-hundred...!? Two...!?"
His scouter explodes forcing him to stumble back as he rubs his eye. In this moment Luna closes the gap between them at once. Zarbon doubles over from a punch to the gut before gasping for air as Luna seizes his throat just after.
"I could kill you an instant."
She pushes him back and allows him space to act. Zarbon snarls as he glares at her horn.
"Your kind uses foul magic... You must think me a fool to believe my scouter so blindly!"
With a flex, his handsome visage and regal frame changes into a horrible form, an amphibious face with massive gains in muscle mass and height. Even his voice, once polite with a subtle tones of malice, now a furious poison spitting growl, as he bares his fangs at her.
"I'll rip that stupid head off by your horn!"
He swings his arm down at her, only for her to block it casually with but one arm. A simple flick of her off-hand as she scoffs with bemusement.
"I've not used any magic to make a fool out of you. But if you so desire it..."
Her horn glows as the magical light traps his offending arm before bending it backwards. Zarbon howls in agony before wheezing again from another devastating blow to his stomach.
"That is magic. I don't need to use it to beat you... But it is fun to use. Now then, you wanted to kill me?"
She releases his broken arm just to wail away at him. A hard right hook into his slobbering jaw, her knuckles causing his face to audibly crunch from impact, his vision flashes white as she follows with an elbow between the eyes. As he stumbles back, she thrusts her left arm out in a knife hand aimed right at his shoulder. He finds that entire arm falling limp against his will before kneeing him in the gut.
"I've been feeling a bit stressed out lately. It'll be nice to unwind with some exercise, so try not to die."
"M-My arm...!?"
"Oh, you'll get feeling back in a few moments. Just something I learned awhile ago."
She knees him in the chin with a leap abd goes into a spinning somersault overhead in one motion, shooting out a foot to kick the back of his skull, rocking Zarbon back and forth as his rattling skull rings in tremendous pain. She lands and does a low sweep kick at his legs tripping him. Before he can fall on his back, she uppercuts him his spine, lifting him high before swinging him into the ground.
"That felt good... Still think you can win?"
He erupts from the pile of rubble she buried him in as his power swells with a mighty roar.
"DAMN YOU! I WON'T GO OUT LIKE THIS!"
Luna's hair billows back in the wind yet she merely rolls her head with a sigh.
"So be it."
Zarbon coughs, sputters, chokes and gags under the utter absolutely crushing blows. The punches that tenderizes his flesh and ruptures his body from the inside, the kicks that shatter his bones and joints, he is sent away into a plateau stuck inside a deep indent of stone made of his body.
Luna flies to him, in his eyes practically teleporting to his position before continuing to haze him with unending abuse, not even able to raise his functioning arm in defense as she creates a tunnel by using his body. With a final knee, she sends Zarbon right through the entire structure, watching him tumble to the ground as a helpless pulp. He pushes himself up panting, panicking as he can barely hold his head up, he shrieks when he sees her feet land just ahead of him. She kicks him in the chin and onto his back, sauntering her way around his body before she stomps down on his chest.
"Are you finished or are you done yet?"
"T-That armor...! Y-You are with, Lord Cooler-?!"
She interrupts him by stomping on his chest again, waiting for him to finish his coughing fit as she only rolls her wrist at him.
"Here is the deal, Frog Lips. Tell me where the remaining Equestrians are in Frieza's Empire and I'll spare you. I already can tell when your lying thanks to my magic so please."
Her eyes flare with a heinous green light for a moment as her horn shines with a frightening glow.
"Give me a reason to use your heart as an ornament to adorn my horn."
Zarbon sweats profusely under this immense power. He is dreaming, a nightmare this must be, there isn't any other way that this instance could be happening to him! He tries to sit up and to his surprise, she lets him as she steps away from him.
"Zarbon. I don't use a scouter, I destroyed the others upon attacking your men who are all still alive, because I am quite serious in letting you live. Frieza has no way of listening in. Tell me what I need to know and I'll let you live. It really is that simple."
Zarbon returns to his graceful guise with a foul scowl directed towards her.
"Now who is the one lying!? You work for Lord Cooler and he never leaves survivors!"
She raises a brow at that. She knows he believes that but she has seen otherwise.
"Ever heard of Yardrat?"
The alien shakes his head. He has to speak carefully, think step by step to find a weakness to exploit, even if that means he has to tolerate this foul creature's existence. Luna raises a finger as if lecturing Zarbon.
"It's one of the many planets he has spared in recent memory. Not only that... He has a planet where my people are allowed to be. Living free and safe under his protection. Lord Cooler has granted me a most important mission to gather the remaining Equestrians back to our new homeworld... This may sound of out of character for him, but I can take you back to see for yourself if you'd like."
Zarbon grits his teeth. This damnable child is mocking him and they both know it. She gave him a losing choice, either tell her what he knows thus betraying Frieza, or commit suicide by meeting with Cooler in person. He turns away with little choice... Gathering dirt from the ground and throwing it at Luna's face.
"As if! Die, scum!"
He then channels the last of his reserves to his hand, blasting her with his power, a thunderous wave that shakes most of the planet in a subtle tremble. As the dust settles, Zarbon near squeaks from the absolute fear as he finds Luna glaring at him fiercely. Nary a scratch on her.
"Last chance, Frog Lips. You're out of options, your men dispatched and unable to call reinforcements, which upon their arrival would mean death due to your failure. I put my cards on the table... What will you do?"
He lowers his head in shame and defeat. With great reluctance, he gets to his knees as his head meets the ground, groveling in prostration to the Child of Equestria.
"I... I will do as you say..."
Luna huffs then blasts him with her horn. Healing him at once.
"Pick yourself up off the ground and gather a list of worlds with Equestrians and Saiyans on them. When you return we'll leave with a handful of your men, leaving the rest behind so Frieza doesn't get too suspicious."
He stands rather stunned by the power she wields. Most Unicorns specialize in one specific magic, it is what separates combatant from noncombatants, yet Luna shows great ease in both.
"May I ask... Are you... Are you an Alicorn?"
She raises a finger at him with energy gathering at the tip.
"Frog Lips. I won't repeat myself."
At that moment true terror struck him. This small, violent, cruel yet cordial child is all too familiar. For a moment he thought of her similar to the Queen of Equestria, but now he knows what he is truly reminded of. Luna is far more like Frieza than any other being he has ever encountered. On instinct he bows as he returns to his old ways without realizing it.
"Yes, my lord! I shall return at once!"
He flies away in blast as both fear and adrenaline grant him a boost in power. Luna watches this, knowing full well what he is thinking, and as she looks down at her hand there is a moment of regret. A moment of doubt. All her life since she left Namek she has surrounded herself with evil and immorality. From Broly's terrible nightmares, to Slug and his horrific training, to Turles and even Raditz for a time, and now with the psychotic Cooler.
She thought it would be easier to endure in time, but in adapting to the vile beings in the universe she has started to feel their influence within herself, and it is starting to take hold.
"... Remember Guru and Nail... Remember Namek."
She takes this moment of reprieve to center herself and focus before going to heal the small army of dispatched soldiers. When Zarbon returns, he hands over the list of planets, unable to hold back his own curiosity.
"I understand your interest in collecting your people, but why Saiyans as well? Especially these weaklings... There's only a handful left that were exiled for being too weak as well."
He expected a sharp retort or even an attack. Instead, laughter was the response.
"Zarbon. Do you recall a Saiyan named, Raditz?"
Zarbon gives a face of disgust at the question.
"That cowardly mongrel hanging onto Vegeta's boots? That brat is dead! Frieza sent him off on some suicide mission on Vegeta's request."
Luna smiles at the remark.
"You can tell him that yourself when we arrive. For now, here is our new plan. I'll be using you and your fleet to travel around discreetly. If we fly into the Galactic Patrol or Frieza Force, I'll leave it to you to handle the talking. After all, I'm now *your* minion."
Luna uses her magic to change the colors of her armor and the symbol from Cooler's insignia to Frieza's. Zarbon and his men all grow tense at how methodical Luna is, but with no choice of their own they leave the planet after a few hours of preparation, with Zarbon going down the list of planets.
"So, the safest planet on the list is-"
Luna interrupts him with an immediate question.
"Forget safety, do we have information on how many planets hold the most Equestrians?"
Zarbon pauses unsure how to answer for a moment.
"Uh... Ah! You're going for quantity, eh? There is one place absolutely filled with your kind, my lord. In fact there's even a leader among them, but I would advise against going there, as it is Frieza's personal science division. A space station dedicated to creating and enhancing new devices for Lord Frieza's reign."
Luna stares at Zarbon in a harsh silence. With a gulp, he turns to his crew and begins shouting orders.
"We're making way for the Science Division Station! Security will be tight but no one will suspect a thing if we act natural men!"
The henchmen run around the vessel eager to please their new master. Luna smiles as she points to a communication console.
"This is perfect actually... Tell Frieza that an invasion occured, be it Slug or some other space faring conqueror, and that you're headed to our current destination to repair your scouters."
Zarbon's eyes light up with a mix of fear and relief. He had nearly forgotten that the destruction of his scouter would certainly alert his true lord. Luna however easily made a believable tale on the fly for him with no effort either, making his now hard life a little easier.
"I'll make the call at once, my lord. What will you do?"
Luna turns and walks away stoically answering back.
"Meditate."
Luna found her own personal quarters and quickly secluded herself away to concentrate. To drift off and wander the cosmos through the Realm of Dreams. The first thing she checks on is Raditz and the state of Planet Hoof. She finds it near impossible to reach there now, but rather than seeing the present, Luna is gifted with a vision of the future.
"Don't you dare stop! I want to see you do ten more! Faster! You better not be slacking on those roads over there either! And you lot up on high better bring a downpour like never before! Push yourself to the absolute limit!"
Raditz, rubs his still sore throat, barks orders at a line of Equestrians. Most if not all are around his age with some adults here and there. Bright Mac surprises most in the group by performing well under the Saiyan's harsh training regimen.
Windy Whistles aches like never before but her genuine smile only grows wider as she harnesses the power within her wings to change as much as the sky as she can with her Pegasai kin.
Even the Unicorns led by Cadance were getting their horns dirty by paving roads and establishing territories around the land. These trips prove incredibly perilous as ferocious beasts, large and full of malicious hunger, from terrible bears with tusks to packs of poisoned fanged wolves. None ever posed a threat to the party as Raditz effortlessly defended them.
These displays of power and protection make it easy for Cadance to win the settlements over. To unite them and put their faith in rebuilding a new home, a true home, one where even a Saiyan could be called friend.
Luna could see it now, this was what Planet Hoof was missing, a strong leader. Someone militant, yet careful, a harsh leader with enough empathy to care about those in his charge. Raditz proves to be a most promising investment to her. Especially at the end of the day.
The Equestrians are so wary of Raditz still, but in that moment then? They would swarm him with adoration, bask him in love and call him their hero, so much so that he cannot hide a smile from them.
She moves on from them and ventures off to her highest priority. A place she knows she can reach.
In the pitch blackness of a warm pod, the cold air rushes in biting at the flesh, a cruel hand seizes the ankle pulling up into the air. A helpless and frightened child wails out in a soft moan which is drowned out by another baby's intense screaming. The screaming has been non-stop, it hurts the child's ears, he can't rest and it brings him unending suffering.
The voice is so heinous that when a fierce pain stabs into him, the flash of searing pain spreads throughout like a fire, the baby can only blame that screaming. Who else would hurt him so than the one that has always hurt him?
In those moments as the child's vision begins to fade, he can just barely make out the face and head of his trigger, the nightmare that plagues him every time he closes his eyes. Broly will never be free of the aches in his scar from that fateful day. Paragus may tell him King Vegeta stabbed him, that it is Vegeta he must hate, but no matter how true those words may be it makes little difference to the gargantuan Saiyan.
The trauma mixed with the natural instability of the Saiyan mind conditioned him to focus on this point. Focus on the one he has deigned his greatest pain. His greatest weakness. Kakarot. As far as Broly is concerned, Kakarot is the knife that plunged into his chest. Kakarot is the ghostly pain that lingers on within the mended wound. Kakarot is the foul decay of his mental state, the reason his father forced these mind manipulating accessories on him... Worst of all. Kakarot is still alive. He knows this. He has seen it in his own dreams, in lucid nightmares of that day.
Yet Luna knows this. In spite of it all, she continues to aid him through his self-imposed torment, to break free of these mental shackles. Even when she is several light-years away. Broly looks up from his throne upon Slug's flagship and sees her across from him.
"Friend... You are still alive. Good."
"That I am. I'm about to rescue a lot of my people... They don't have planets of their own, so they need you, they need you to give them new homes. Broly, its time for you to claim your right as ruler over Slug's Empire."
Broly gives a soft smile as he nods. Luna has broken him out from the mental blocks and prison of his accessories his father placed on him. How he has wanted to tear apart the fools around him, to bathe in their despair, and yet Luna held him back for years. Waiting for the right moment.
This moment.
Broly stands and marches to the bridge of the vessel. Slug eats away at a bowl of longevity pills to prolong his life by any means, even if all they buy him are moments. He watches Broly enter the bridge and casually kills two of his elite guard in an instant with mere swipes of his hands as they die trying to stop him. Broly can only be stopped by himself as he watches Slug from below the stairs to his throne.
"Old Bug... That chair no longer suits you. I am taking it."
Slug looks down at this Saiyan boy, tall but a child still, and this garners a laugh from him.
"Paragus, your boy speaks for you?"
Paragus stands in shock. He hadn't even summoned Broly. He brings his hand up, adorned with the device to activate the restraints on Broly.
"He does not! Broly! Stand down at once!"
Broly stands there as the jewels on his bracers, necklace and crown all glow, loudly singing with power before dimming. His son looks to him with a heart stopping glare.
"You have no power over me anymore, Father. No one does."
Slug cackles as he stands to his feet before erupting with power. All but Broly are blown away by the sheer aura of Slug as he tries to enforce his might upon the young Saiyan.
"This must have been Luna's idea. I can see now that those inhibitors within your shackles are fake. I knew there was a reason she was gone for so long... You are a fool to follow that girl to a shared grave!"
Slug roars with his pupils burning a violet-red as he charges right at Broly with a might blow, a punch for his gut which sends a quake throughout the entire vessel, a space ship roughly the size of an entire city.
Were it anyone else, even Luna, they would be dead if not on the ground unable to stand. Broly however, is not like anyone else. Not only does he not budge a single inch, but he retaliates with his own frightening strike, though for him it is but a simple jab.
For Slug, as he stumbles back after he is done skidding across the floor with his feet making small trenches in the ground, his vision blurred with his face aching like never before. He doubles over feeling nauseous as Broly closes the gap between them and uppercuts him in the gut, then launching him to the ceiling of the throne room.
Were he just younger, Slug knows he could recover, were he just in the prime of his youth he knows he could take this malcontent primate and rip him to pieces!
Unfortunately the reality seeps in as his body refuses obey him. Refuses to let him release the accumulated power of over ten thousand years, unable to rip himself from the indent in the ceiling he has been forced into, unable to do anything but stare right back at Broly.
The upstart waits for Slug to naturally fall from the artificial gravity, making it clear to all as Slug falls to him as he swings a hook for the Namekian's massive jaw with a ki-laced fist, Broly is the leader now. As Slug flies through his throne with an explosion destroying the throne and stairs entirely, Broly turns to all of those on the bridge. The children of Slug, their slaves and assistants, even Paragus all watch in pure terror before quickly taking a knee.
Broly grins and speaks out.
"Take his corpse and send it out the airlock. We make for Planet Hoof after."
His own children, the Slugjin that were once the elite of his army, now cart their father and once great ruler away with hesitation to the air locks. So much damage had been done in such a short amount of time that they were certain of his demise.
Unbeknownst to them, to Broly, Slug clings to a thread of life. By the time his own kin realized this, he had already cast a most heinous spell draining them of their very essence, returning the power used to make them back to their progenitor. An act no different than a parent eating their own young.
Their eyes go wide as they start to vanish in a brilliant light. When it dies down, Slug is alone and able to stand with newfound power, but he is only able to stand and walk.
He has no words for himself for the bitterness if his humiliating defeat is simply too hard to even taste, let alone swallow. Swallow he does for he knows there is nothing but death for him here and now. He must retrieve his power of his lost youth. A time when he was unstoppable save for a literal handful in the great spanning quadrant known as the North Galaxies.
He must do as he swore himself never to do, to return to his true home.
Using an escape pod after killing a scout who had come back from a mission, unaware of the situation that transpired before his return, everyone on board were too distracted by their new king to notice the small shuttle fly out of sight.
Luna opens her eyes with a sigh. Slug escapes with his life and the mercy of not alerting his life to Broly is one she does for herself. To prove to herself she is not the same as him. Not the same as Cooler, nor as Frieza. She stands above them all and will prove it to all one day.
On this day however, the small fleet arrive at a space station. Zarbon escorts her off the ship and onto the docking bay. Though they put on an act of a master showing his newest recruit and personal apprentice around the Frieza Empire, he winces as they communicate through telepathy, finding the very experience all too intrusive for his liking.
"Welcome to the Ranch... The unoffical name for where Frieza puts all of his most useful and loyal subjects. Keyword being, and. The only ones not of Equestria here are the guards. The Ginyu Force used to be stationed here exclusively, but thankfully for us, they've been called away for a special assignment."
"What you're saying is when I make this place a ghost town, Frieza will know at once about my plan? Good. He and Cooler will be on a crash collision then."
"W-With all of us in the crossfire! Do you even know who he has here!? A brilliant scientist and spectacular engineer, a scholar and historian, an absolute brilliant mind! Dr. Night Light!"
"Believe it or not, I don't exactly have much knowledge about my own people, just the Frieza Force and all of their enemies..."
Zarbon audibly groans rubbing his temple with an irritated frown.
"Of course... Dr. Night Light continues revolutionizes modern technology throughout the entire Frieza Force. He began his developments when he was a wee lad, I hadn't even learned to walk yet, and since then has surpassed the expectations of the Cold Family consistently through decades of service... It's why his family alone has been allowed a peaceful amnesty from the original plan of the destruction of Equestria and Vegeta."
Luna's eyes narrow as a sly smile grows on her lips.
"What you're saying is that I hit jackpot... What are the chances he will agree to work with us?"
Zarbon twirls a lock of his hair with a finger thinking best how to put it. He composes himself as a platoon of soldiers march by and salute him.
"We-Well... With his family being held hostage by Frieza as he made their home on his personal capital planet... It would be next to impossible, I would think."
"Then you think too little. Take me to him. You will go to him about replacing your scouters, express to him concern for safety without the Ginyu Force presence, then finally station me as guard to speak with him privately."
Zarbon scoffs unable to keep his voice to himself.
"Preposterous! There are live cameras recording-!"
He stops at once frozen as he feels a great pressure around his throat. Once more, Luna displays a frightening power outside of the known magical energy originating from her horn. There is no glow or any sign of said magic, but an open hand that slowly closes, as if wrapped around his throat.
A terrifying show of telekinesis she has learned from many firsthand experiences of training with Cooler himself.
"Keep your voice inside your head lest I make it so you don't have a head at all."
"Y-Yes ma'am..."
She releases them and ends their conversation leaving Zarbon to think privately. Not that she tells him that. She enjoys the nervous sweating terror-filled alien trying to gauge just when if at all can he be allowed to even have his own free thoughts once again. Were it any other person. She would feel like a monster, but she has long lost any sympathy and empathy for those who willingly ally with the Cold Family, to her the minions of the Frost Demons themselves are monsters.
Eventually, the reach a private chamber full of unfinished projects with walls littered with fully developed blueprints. Book cases compulsively sorted in both color and alphanumerical order. Dirty plates and trays of food neatly stacked on top of each other, separated in groups between meats and vegetables, an organized chaos surrounds the duo as the sole man responsible for it all stands at a work table with his back turned to them.
Taller than Luna yet far shorter than Zarbon, deep blue hair and skin with cracked welding goggles over his eyes. A worn yet clean lab coat detailed with crescent moons and four pointed stars, a look that seems more fitting to a wizard than a scientist. A blue horn pokes out from his hair glowing as tools idly float about, styluses jotting down notes on hovering touchpads, even chemical beakers being mixed with caution a safe distance away in this large yet lonesome room.
"I told you I am not to be disturbed."
Zarbon steps forward with a threatening tone.
"Watch your tone with me, Night Light. It is I, Zarbon. My scouter has been destroyed during a skirmish on my planet and I have need of your special touch. Can you secure me some more durable models in the recent future?"
Night Light doesn't turn around, but Luna can feel it. The empathy Cooler told her about. From merely being in his presence she could feel the heavy despair and overwhelming exhaustion Night Light hides. A case floats from a shelf right over to Zarbon.
"Already made those. Unless you're fighting a living star, those shouldn't be damaged by any attack, now leave me be."
Zarbon's eye twitches but his wrath is halted by Luna clearing her own throat. He pulls back before speaking up.
"There isn't enough. I'll need to duplicate these through the three-dimensional printer you made. It truly has gotten dangerous out there lately. I shall leave my associate here with you."
Zarbon makes his exit leaving Luna alone with the prodigious scientist. She stands at ease listening to his idle mumblings trying to read him. He is hasty, yet calculated. Every movement has a thought behind it, even as he thinks around ten thoughts at a moment, or at least that's how many she believes she hears. Soon enough, her horn glows and so too does his.
"Telepathy. I learned this spell a while ago, Dr. Night Light. Don't turn around. They are watching. My name is Luna, one of the last Princesses of Equestria, and I have come for you. Zarbon works for me and I have more than enough power to destroy anyone that gets in our way here."
The doctor pauses for a moment. Stunned by this meeting as he slowly continues his work.
"I know you... You sound like the Queen. I built the pods that held you and your sister... Is she with you?"
"No. I don't know where she is yet. I do know she is alive but I found you first. We have to leave."
Night Light chuckles aloud.
"And sentence every other Equestrian across the universe to death? No thanks."
Luna visibly grows irked at the response knowing there to be more.
"What!? What do you mean?"
Night Light turns to her at last as the face each other. He lifts his goggles to reveal weary bloodshot eyes with a growing scruff across his face.
"You hide your power well but you're still a child. I'll try to keep it brief..."
He walks towards her, seemingly ignoring her entirely as he checks one of the flying touchpads.
"When Equestria fell, Frieza told us off-world Equestrians that the Saiyans unleashed some super weapon that wiped both homeworlds out. Most of his empire bought it, but we knew better, we knew the Saiyans would never use a weapon like that. They would sooner exceed any weapon by raising their own power level to match it."
Luna tilts her head rather impressed with the level of intuition in her kind. From what she saw of the denizens of Planet Hoof, many Equestrians lived rather sheltered and uneventful lives. The good doctor looks at her with a skeptical frown.
"For someone named Princess, you sure look down on us, hm?"
She forgotten that the telepathic link between them isn't like the one she made with Zarbon. Their horns connected through magic, similar to a telephone, share all their thoughts and emotions. This has her lower her head.
"My life isn't like the others. I've gone down a darker path."
"I can tell. Don't underestimate or downplay us all because of that. When the planets fell, I was taken from my family and put here when I mistakenly revealed that I knew the truth, and if I leave this facility... Frieza will kill my wife as he did my son."
Luna looks up with a feeling of hurt in her chest. His heart. A shared feeling of guilt and self-loathing. Night Light looks away shaking his head.
"Sorry. I'd like to go, I would... But I can't. No one here can. We're all deemed too valuable by Frieza to leave and if we disobey him..."
"He'll give the order for our extinction."
Luna grows pale, shifting her stance trying to remain as stoic as possible while Night Light pinches the bridge of his nose.
"Precisely. I'm sorry if you have felt like you wasted your time. Thankfully, you haven't. Although we can't leave, and the others are watched heavily, I have found a way to sneak work onto my revenge project. Frieza told me the truth, said he believed me smart enough to keep quiet about this from the others... I keep quiet about the Shining Armor as well."
He clears his throat as his eyes dart between her and the cameras. At once she nods as her eyes flash. Finally, the two can speak freely.
"I've put us on loop and cut the audio since we've been silent long enough. Tell me about this Shining Armor."
Night Light reveals a secret compartment by his assigned toilet. Though he was allowed a stall for some level of privacy, Luna could certainly tell that this room is a prison cell, nothing else. In spite of this he has hidden a scroll of parchment with the most elaborate blueprints she has seen etched with glowing ink.
"A full body weapon capable of rising the power level of the wearer through both magic and ki, my greatest invention that I started several years before Frieza's betrayal... It was meant for my son... The namesake of the project."
She sighs in relief as Night Light gives her the scroll.
"You made it for someone that can use both powers, yes? So it'll be perfect for me."
"Unfortunately not. You're too small to use it. Someone of this specified size could though. I hid the prototype away on an ancestral world forgotten by our kind. A once thriving land once called Planet Hoof."
Luna leans back startled by this.
"What-?! But that's where I was going to take you! You mean there was a super weapon under our noses this whole time...?!"
Night Light pauses from surprise himself and nods.
"If what you say is true then, yes. I imagine the planet is pretty inhospitable these days. The only survivors I know of are noncombatants... Such as myself. No one of us could use the Shining Armor, it needs someone with at least a power level of one thousand."
Luna rubs her chin as she looks over the scroll detailing the armor. Sure enough she couldn't fit it, and unlike Cold Empire armor like hers and Zarbon's, it isn't malleable. It hit her then as she reads the measurements over and over.
"Dr. Night Light... Would the armor work for someone not an Equestrian?"
He raises a brow at her, now unable to feel her enigmatic thoughts without telepathy, he merely answers in earnest.
"So long as the horn is kept in tact and the user is strong enough to power it themselves... Then, yes. The horn is a conductor for magic and can greatly enhance the performance of the suit, significantly raising the power level to a height never before seen. The highest I recorded it to be was three hundred thousand. The Shining Armor can handle a power well over fifty times that amount. I guarantee it... You have someone that can wear it, don't you."
She only stares back at him. Behind those eyes are a reflection. Revenge, cold and bitter hatred, and yet unconditional love. Night Light, loves his people and his family, willing to throw away the morals of Equestria she did not grow up with. He also grew up under the oppression of the Saiyans. She has to know.
"Doctor. What are your thoughts on the Saiyans?"
His face sours at once.
"Frieza might have spared us had they not existed. My son nearly lost his life time and time again fighting their kind. A foul one, Bardock, always managed to run into him and fight him until neither could move. Those beasts lived on war and bloodshed... I am glad there are only two left. Frieza will kill them both one day and the universe will be better off for it."
Luna sighs. She can not blame him. She has seen firsthand just what they can do many times through Broly and Raditz. They are terrifying and perhaps better off in short population... But that is of the past. The Saiyans are needed now more than ever. This she knows even if Night Light wouldn't accept this truth.
So she will not tell him the truth.
"Then maybe they will die by the hand of our champion on Planet Hoof. He trains tirelessly and has more than enough power to work the Shining Armor... Thank you, Dr. Night Light. Is there anything I can do for you?"
He nods and on the touchpad he brings up a photo of a family. Himself of much better spirits, a lovely wife standing next to a young man broad shoulders and a horn. By his side hugging an arm is Cadance.
"If you can find anyone in this picture... Please protect them for me. I will do what I can to sabotage Frieza's technology until then... Just as he did to us on that day. Now, go. I can hear Zarbon returning. He certainly took his sweet time."
Zarbon enters the room to see nothing changed. Luna seemingly stone still while Night Light continues his research. The cameras now recording normally as the alien speaks.
"Your usefulness is truly a wonder, Dr. Night Light. I shall be sure to sing high praises to Lord Frieza."
The doctor scoffs.
"If you'd just let me be with my wife then I would care. Be off with you."
Zarbon sucks his teeth at the response before taking Luna away with him. The young Alicorn maintains a stoic face, but her eyes are full of determination now. Fate itself is in her favor, destiny has made it clear that she is on the right path, for now hidden behind a spell of invisibility she has in her hand the means to defeat the Cold Family.
But before she can return she must do as Cooler commanded. She ventures forth into space, hopping from planet to planet gathering stranded Equestrians across the galaxy, eagerly studying the scroll whenever she has the chance.
"The day of reckoning shall come far sooner than expected... Be ready Raditz. You will be my knight in shining armor."
