Since the pandemic had been getting worse for everyone around the island seemed that things were getting harder and rougher for everyone. Denning had made it known the lock down was needed as the cases were growing in large numbers every day. Turned out the HPD would be working more with 5-0 to make sure that the crime that did happen was covered.
Danny and Kono were both currently cruising around the island out of boredom, "Boss think people will be out here?"
He sipped his coffee sighing, "I really have no clue. Some people are stupid enough to use this chance now that there isn't many people to commit crimes."
"Guess that criminals think that right now courts are closed so wont keep them in jail?"
They both just chuckled, "My sister said the same thing in Jersey."
"How are Charlie, Jackie, Tyler, and Grace handling all this?"
"Oh, you mean being home all the time? Or Gracie having the chance to do her school from her computer? Love it!"
She just rolled her eyes, "What kid wouldn't love sitting in front of computer all day? Even if just for school?"
"Rachael isn't happy that she was in Vegas at the time everything was being shut down and by the time thought to come back for the kids no one could get here. So am happy they were here and not there or else who knows when could see them."
Just than could hear gunshots followed by two cars driving fast past them and Kono said something over the radio, "Gunshots heard in vicinity of Atkinson Dr and Kahakai Dr. Have a red honda sonata and grey kia forte racing north towards the convention center."
Dispatcher responds, "Copy that officers are in the area and sending them that way."
Danny was speeding after them trying to catch up to either one of them since at the moment both were reaching speeds of 100mph or more and trying hard to make sure that they were not in the line of fire trying to keep up. Kono sent off a text to Steve since they were headed not to far from his house making him aware of what was happening.
Steve and Matt were outside washing his truck when his phone buzzed and could hear the faint sound of sirens in the distance and grabbed the little boy, "Stay here and will be back."
Catherine looked a moment confused but answered, "Alright."
He grabbed the truck keys and as he hopped in could hear the sirens getting closer and spotted them in the distance before joining the chase but the two cars spit from one another. Danny didn't say anything as he took the red honda and Steve took the forte.
Danny finally was able to catch up to his car just about the time the driver lost control and slammed into pole and they came to stop drawing weapons. After making sure there was no further threat he raced back to his car grabbed the little fire extinguisher from the trunk and but the flames out from under the hood.
Kono turned to check on the driver and said into radio, "Single vehicle accident just east of the convention center."
Meanwhile, Steve continued to chase his driver through the streets and the other one was reaching speeds of at least 120mph and he wasn't sure how much more this little car could handle. He was aware of the police cruisers that were trying to keep up with both of them. The other driver was weaving in and out of the few cars that happened to be on the road. Something told him that this one was on a mission but had no idea where was leading.
Finally the driver took a corner to fast and ended up spinning out and came to a stop feet from the other man but before he could think Steve fired one shot. That one bullet hit its mark and struck the driverside front tire and the two locked eyes with one another. Steve was the first to fire another shot through the windshield stiking him in the shoulder.
After making sure both men were headed to the hospital gathered around Steve truck sighing, "Any idea what the hell that was about?"
Kono clicked something into her tablet, "Not sure since neither Kiloma and Hansen have a record here on the island or that knew one another."
Steve ran hand down face sighing, "Lets have an HPD officer sit with them and look deeper into this and see what can find."
