I never thought I'd see the day when I updated this story again, oh god. Can we pretend I never wrote that? Please? Well, I will ALSO be changing most of that story up, I wrote that when I definitely did not have the writing talent to, so I'm sorry about that. Starting from that last point, this chapter will likely change again. I own nothing.
Tris' POV
As Dad started the drive to Dauntless, I sat with Eric in the back.
"Eric, I'm so sorry," I whispered, and he grabbed my hands in his.
"About what, Tris? You've done nothing to apologize for." Eric said, giving me a small smile.
"For having a breakdown over something so small," I said, and he let out a small chuckle.
"Again, Tris, you've done nothing to apologize for. You were traumatized, a breakdown is expected. It doesn't make you weak, or a screw-up, or a coward, or anything else you're calling yourself. I promise you, Tris Prior, you are a strong, incredible, amazing woman. Ask Max, ask Natalie, ask anyone and they would agree to that statement. You do not have to apologize for anything, Tris Prior" Eric said, and he pulled me into a hug.
I felt a tear fall down my cheek at his declaration as I hugged him back.
"Thank you, Eric," I whispered, and he smiled down at me.
"I just speak the truth, Tris," He said back, kissing the top of my head.
"You kids okay back there?" Dad asked, and I smiled up at him.
"Yeah, Dad, everything is okay. I promise," I said, and he chuckled.
"If you say so, kiddo. Feel free to come to talk to me, though. I'm here to listen," Dad said, and I felt what his words were truly saying.
I wasn't alone anymore. And I would never be alone again.
I chuckled, then started to loudly laugh.
"I know Dad, I know. Thank you," I said, and he chuckled as well.
"Damn, I should've remembered that you would quickly catch the drift. Well, I'm glad you know. We love you," Dad said, and I felt my chest fill with joy.
I was truly and utterly loved and accepted. How much better could life get?
