Emmett POV:

I smiled at Rose as she ate dinner. So far, no one suspected the pregnancy. Rose was drinking water and claimed it was because she was wined out and didn't like it much anymore. It was hardly believable to me but everyone else bought it.

"So, Emmett, when's your next big trial?", My dad asked me.

"I have one in about 2 weeks that I've been working on.", I replied. "We're fighting for parole, but I'm honestly not sure the judge will be generous.".

"It's really crazy how people can view one person based on a mistake. But they've got you fighting for them and that's important.", My mom assured me. I smiled at them.

"What about you, Rose? Are you ready for school to start?", My mom asked Rosalie. I watched as she looked at me and I gave her a nod. She sat down her fork.

"Actually, I won't be returning for this school year.", Rosalie said. "I'm taking a year off and staying home.".

"Noooo. I need my teacher buddy.", Alice frowned as she fed Jace a bottle.

"Just need a break?", My mom asked.

"Actually, we're expecting a baby.", I smiled. "Mid February.". I watched as Rosalie handed my parents the ultrasound pictures.

"I wanted to take a year to enjoy my pregnancy.".

"No way!", My parents smiled. Everyone congratulated us as the sonogram got passed out. Alice looked at the pictures.

"Hm. I predicted this months ago but I don't believe you.", She looked at Rose, smiling.

"My names on the ultrasound, dumb dumb.", Rose responded.

"Prove it another way.", Alice challenged her. My sister was dead set on this being a joke.

I watched Rosalie stand up. She pulled her leggings down from her stomach and lifted her shirt, revealing a not so tiny bump. "16 weeks and 5 days. Nauseous all the time and I have no energy. I sleep at least 15 hours a day and I'm craving nachos with melted chocolate.".

"Holy shit.", Alice smiled, hugged us both. "You're really making me an aunt!".

"I don't think you had to challenge her.", My dad laughed. Everyone congratulated us and continued to look at the pictures.

"Do you know what you're having yet?", My mom asked.

"No, we'll find out in about 2 weeks.", Rosalie smiled at her. "We're excited.".

"How'd that 3-year plan work for you?", Jasper joked with me.

"Accidents happen.", I laughed. "It was very unexpected but after the nerves and panic went away, we became excited.".

"It's the best feeling when you see your baby for the first time. I can't wait for you to get to experience it.", He smiled at me.

I helped my mom clear off the table as the conversations continued.

"You guys did have a 2 or 3 year plan.", My dad said as it dawned on him.

"Yeah, we did have that plan, but I guess God decided we needed a baby now.", I smiled. "I'm 100% okay with it though. I'm excited about Blob.".

"Blob? Please tell me you're not naming your child Blob.", My sister teased me.

"Shut it. I nicknamed the baby Blob because that's what it looks like right now. Blob was the first thing that came to my mind when I seen the ultrasound.", I explained

As our night went on, we discussed what we were most excited for, what gender we were hoping for, and how things were going. Rose had ended up with Jace and I couldn't help but just admire her. In a few short months, that would be our life. It'd be our baby she'd be holding and loving on. We'd be spending our days and nights making bottles and changing diapers while trying to find time for us.

Alice and Rose talked with my mom about planning a gender reveal and baby shower, while my dad, Jasper and I talked about when we planned on putting a crib together and painting the baby's room. The past 4 weeks had been great, but now that our family knew and were wanting to make plans with us, it was becoming so real. I'd explained to them that we had decided which room would be the baby's and that we had just barely started clearing it out. Rose and I had planned to go to Target and start getting small stuff tomorrow.

"Rose wants to go to Target so we can start getting things. We're almost half way there so it's definitely time to start preparing in case he or she were to come early. I need to work on moving my suits out so we can definitely get a crib in there. But she doesn't want to paint it until we know what we're having.", I explained.

"Ali was the same way except we wanted to be surprised on the gender.", Jasper smiled down at Jace. "We did do gender neutral though and it works.".

"Rose and I are both too impatient for that. Seriously the week after we found out, I asked her if we could somehow find out the gender. I'm just ready to know.", I laughed.

"You get your impatientness from your mother, I swear of it.", My dad chuckled.

From the corner of my eye, I noticed Rose excuse herself and walk towards the bathroom. "Give me a minute. I'll be right back.", I told Jasper and my dad. I walked to the bathroom and knocked on the door. "You okay?".

"No.", I heard her weak voice. "Come in.". I opened the door to find her sitting on the floor against the wall. "The nausea has hit again and I feel like shit.", she sighed.

I closed the door behind me and sat beside her. "I hate that you're constantly sick.", I admitted. It hurt me to see her like this. I wish I could take the nausea from her and let her have a day where she feels great. She laid her head against my shoulder and sighed. I wrapped my arms around her and felt a wetness against my shirt. "Don't cry, love. It's all okay.", I frowned.

"I-I'm just so tired of being sick..", She cried.

"So why don't we go to the emergency room? I mean, we've tried home remedies, popsicles, just eating plain ice and nothing is working for you.", I rubbed her arm. "You're getting sick all day and most of the night. While it may be a normal pregnancy thing, I can tell it's affecting your mental health.".

"Do you think it's stupid to go to the emergency room?", She asked as she wiped her tears.

"I think that you need to do what makes you comfortable.".

"Then let's go to the emergency room.", She sighed. She sat up and gave me a kiss. "I love you. I don't know where Blob or I would be without you.".

"I love you more. I'll give you a minute. I'm going to tell everyone that we're cutting the night short.", I replied and I stood up. I helped her up and watched as she began to wipe her eyes in the mirror.

I stepped out of the bathroom and walked to the living room where everyone was. "Hey guys, Rose and I are going to head out. I think we're about to take a trip to the emergency room.", I announced.

"Is she okay? Is the baby okay?", Alice asked me as she freaked out.

"Rose and Blob are okay. She's nauseous and we've tried so much to help it and nothing works. I don't think she'll last until her next appointment so we're gonna go in and get some meds.", I replied. "It's been a struggle and I hate seeing her like this.".

"That's understandable. I'm sure they'll be able to get her something for it that works. I know how miserable it is to be sick nonstop.", My mom replied. I gave everyone a hug and told them I'd keep them updated. Rose had come out and apologized for ruining the night. Everyone assured her the last thing she had done was ruin the night. We were congratulated again on our baby and we headed out.

I helped Rose into my Jeep and walked to the other side. "If you feel sick at any point, I'll pull over.", I told her as I started the car.

She nodded and leaned her seat back, closing her eyes. I felt so bad for her. She was miserable and didn't want to do anything. As I drove, I kept thinking how bad I wished the doctor could help her. Even if she were to have to take a medicine every day, it'd be okay.

I held her hand, squeezing it often to let her know I was supporting her no matter what. My other hand tapped the steering wheel from being nervous. I thought it was crazy how I enter maximum security prisons to meet with criminals and I felt no nerves, yet when it came to my wife and baby, I was a nervous wreck.

"Are you doing okay?", I asked, looking over at her. She had a hand rested on her stomach and her eyes still closed.

"Kind of.", She replied. She rubbed her thumb against my hand. "I'm scared they won't be able to do anything.".

"There's gotta be something out there that will help.", I told her as I pulled into the hospital parking lot. I parked and watched as she leaned the seat up. I reached to the floorboard and grabbed her purse. "Ready?".

She lightly nodded as we both got out and made our way inside.

"Hello, how can I help you?", The nurse asked as we got to the front desk.

"Hello. I just need to be seen about nausea. I'm 16 weeks pregnant and I've had it almost nonstop. I can't hold anything down.", Rose told the woman.

"Name and birthdate?", The nurse asked.

"Rosalie McCarthy. Birthdate is October 30th, 1997.", She replied.

"Do you have insurance?", The nurse asked as she typed.

"Yes.", Rose replied as I gave her the purse. She reached in and grabbed her wallet to find her insurance card. I watched as the nurse updated her insurance and instructed us to go ahead and come back. Rose handed me her purse as they took her height and weight. She sat in the chair and they proceeded to take her blood pressure and temperature.

"Everything looks good right here. Let's go ahead and get you into a room.", The nurse instructed. We followed her and Rose sat on the bed. I watched as the nurse proceeded to start an IV. Rose bit her lip, looking at me as the nurse poked her with the needle. The nurse finished up and informed us the doctor would be in soon.

"That needle hurt.", Rose sat as she laid on her side, facing me.

"I know, love. Just think we're one step closer to get answers.", I moved my chair closer to the bed and held her hand. "I wonder why they gave you an IV when we don't even know what's going on.".

"There's no telling.", she replied as we heard a knock on the door.

"Hello, I'm Dr. Phan.", He flipped through her chart. "Here for nausea and pregnant?", He asked.

"Yes. I've been nausea and sick everyday for at least 3 weeks now. I can't hold anything down, not even water.", Rosalie responded, laying on her back.

"Okay. We will get this sorted out for you. I'm going to start with an ultrasound to make sure baby is good and okay. Then I'm going to order some bloodwork.", Dr. Phan told us.

Rosalie nodded and he pulled the ultrasound machine from the corner of the room.

"We get to see our baby", I smiled at her.

"You finally get to see our baby.", She squeezed my hand.

The doctor turned on the machine. "I'm going to lift your shirt and put some gel on your stomach. It's going to be a little cold.". He lifted her shirt and I smiled at her bump. The littlest thing was causing so much trouble for us already.

I watched as he put the gel on her then moved a wand. I could hear a faint thumping. The doctor moved the wand and the thumping got louder. "He has a strong heartbeat, which is a great sign.", The doctor said. I watched the screen as our baby moved.

"He? It's a boy?", I smiled as I asked the doctor.

"Oh no. I'm so sorry! Were you two wanting to be surprised?", He asked as he started to panic.

"No, not at all. We just weren't finding out for another two weeks.", I smiled at Rose.

"It's definitely a boy.", He moved the wand and pointed to the screen. "Here's his legs and butt. And that right there is a penis.".

I kissed Rose's hand as she tried not to cry. The doctor printed out some pictures for us and wiped her belly. He listened to Rose's heart and lungs and checked her veins. "Ah ha.", he said.

"What is it?", Rose asked him.

"You're extremely dehydrated. Your body isn't holding down water because it's needing more nutrients, which you're lacking because you're sick. I have a medicine that I can prescribe that should do the trick.", He washed his hands and started typing on the computer. "I'm writing a prescription for a 3 week supply. Start with 2 pills a day, one in the morning and evening, then on week 2 and 3, only take 1. By the middle of week 2 or so, I'm guaranteeing you'll be feeling much better and able to hold stuff down.".

We both nodded, understanding his orders. He wrote us a prescription and told us the nurse would be in shortly to discharge us. He apologized again for revealing our baby's gender and told us if we had any questions or concerns to call the ER. He walked out of the room and left us alone.

"We're having a little boy.", Rose smiled big at me. "He's ornery like his daddy. It explains why I've been dying during this pregnancy.", She joked with me.

"Hey, you're the one carrying him therefore he's getting your orneriness!", I smiled, kissing her cheek.

"The IV helped a lot. I definitely believe I've just been severely dehydrated.", She laid her hand on her belly. "I can't wait to meet him.".

"Me too. I think he's gonna look like you.", I replied.

"I don't think so. I think he'll look a lot like you. He's gonna have your brown eyes and curls.", She smiled at me as the nurse walked in.

She handed me the papers. "Here is everything from your visit here today. Everything from what your vitals were to what you were prescribed. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call.", Rose and I both nodded. Rose focused her attention on the sonogram pictures of our boy while the nurse removed her IV. I watched as she put a cotton ball on it and wrapped it up. "You are all good to go. Have a good night.".
