Chapter 7: From the Start

Back at the Planet:

In their office, they were both checking files of ex-cons recently released from prison and why they went to prison going back five years.

"There he is, and his name is Kyle Griffin," Lois said pointing to his name in the files. "I remember him now."

Meanwhile, a tip came into the Planet. Jimmy knocked, came inside, and gave them the message. "This guy sounds legit. He says he knows Griffin because he spent time with him in prison and that was all he talked about was getting revenge on Ms. Lane. He wants to talk to you, no one else, plus he left an address and to not call the police."

"Thanks, Jimmy," Lois said and took the message and glanced at her partner.

"I'm coming with you." Clark said firmly. "It could be him or another diversion."

"Okay, let us go," she said then they left.

They went to see the tipster hoping for more information about Griffin. His place was a dump, small and unkempt. He looked like he had not slept in days. He wanted a payoff of $10k before he would tell them what they needed.

Clark told him the Planet has a policy, no money for information. The phone rang and Lois pulled him aside. "How much do you have?"

"We are not paying him a dime." He checked his wallet. "Well, I do have $20."

Lois had no money. "We can get $100."

"No, we are not giving him money," Clark said firmly.

Lois fumed, "We are talking about my life here," she said worried.

While they talked, the tipster finally answered the call then seconds later, he stiffened and fell over. Clark checked his pulse, and he is dead.

"Oh no, how horrible and he was killed through his phone?" She asked terrified.

"I'm calling the police. This is not a prank; this is murder. This may be the first time he has killed someone to keep his plots hidden."

While they waited, Lois had a thought. "He must be desperate that we are getting too close and what if." She could not finish.

He came closer. "Listen to me; I will not let anything happen to you."

"He probably knows where I live and my phone number," she said still terrified.

"You can stay with me at least for tonight until we catch this guy."

She hesitated for a second. "Thank you, Clark. I would like that."

After speaking to the police, they left and drove back to the Planet. While driving, he reminded her. "You have not been to my place since…'that night.'"

"Yes, I know; I thought of that too. I will be fine; I mean, it is only a bed."

"Yeah, that is true. Why don't we stop and get your things, some food and we can talk?"

"Sure, sounds good. How about pizza and a movie?"

He chuckled. "Perfect."

~o~o~

Back in his place, on the sofa eating pizza and watching a buddy-cop movie, Lois is getting sleepy, not wanting to even think about the bed in the next room.

"Lois, I can sleep on the sofa, and you take the bed."

"That's ridiculous, we can sleep in the same bed and not." She hesitated.

He sighed. "Maybe this is not a clever idea. I will take you home and we can stay at your place."

"You are sweet, but we can stay here. I brought a nightgown and a robe; I will change now."

He watched her head to the bathroom.

Hours later, still on the sofa, the pizza is gone, and the television is on, but the movie is over, and Lois is asleep next to him her head on his shoulder. He decided not to wake her but carefully picked her up and took her to bed, removed her robe, and tucked her in. He watched her snuggle under the covers and she went back to sleep.

Back in the living room, he turned off the television, lay on the sofa and tried to sleep, but he could not. He thought of how far they had come since that night, but he did not want to go backwards but forward; she wanted that too; he knew it.

Decision made, he stood up removed his clothes, went into the bedroom, and pulled out his sleeping trousers, and careful not to wake her, he pulled the covers over him and tried to sleep, but his mind is thinking of the past few months and how they adjusted to what happened to them. He felt blessed that she had come around and accepted that the past cannot be changed but to look ahead to everything they mean to each other. That was the catalyst that moved them to this point. His mind is at rest and soon he fell into sleep.

~o~o~

Morning came and he opened his eyes and Lois is still asleep but to his surprise, she is lying next to him her head on his chest holding him. He stroked her hair and waited for her to open her eyes.

Minutes later, she did and then her eyes gravitated to his face. She smiled but she remembered where she was, and again she surprised him. "Good morning."

"Good morning," he whispered back.

"What time is it?"

"Still have time; would you like breakfast? I can cook."

"Okay, what are you cooking?"

"Whatever you want."

She came closer, nose to nose. 'Whatever I want?"

"Yes, anything at all." He stroked her hair again.

"I want you to love me no matter what happens." Her eyes watered thinking of that madman out to kill her.

He pulled her closer. "Count on it." Then he kissed her deeply and she kissed him back. Food forgotten, nothing else mattered, but to be close and one thing leads to another.

Her nightgown removed, his sleeping trousers came off, then they returned to each other's arms loving being this close and the bed is just that, only a bed.

She smiled, but then Clark's heart nearly stopped, it was pounding so hard, not believing she was there in his apartment and in his bed with him. He thought she would never come back. Lois was there in all her glorious beauty. He nearly lost it then he pulled her into his arms and kissed her repeatedly as if this would be the last time here in his apartment.

"Slow down, Clark, I'm not going anywhere." Lois stared at him, and her mouth went completely dry, and she could see how much he wanted her. She felt the same way then pulled him close inviting him in.

Clark's mouth crashed down on hers. Clark is thinking. She smells and tastes so good. I will not be able to get enough, and I do not want to. I know if I had a lifetime, I would never get enough of her. "When I am with you, the only place I want to be is closer." He managed to say.

Lois opened her eyes and drank in the dark form that was above her. She felt lost beneath him. He moved on top of her, touching her, and kissing his way down to her breasts. She arched her back and moaned. It felt so good. "Clark, you don't cross my mind, you live in it," she whispered loving him beyond any rational thought.

"You know we have not done this before but… I was thinking." She tasted like heaven. She was so responsive to his touch. He touched her everywhere he could reach, her beautiful breasts, her arms, her long legs, and firm thighs then back to her breasts again. Lois was touching him too. Her hands were in his hair, on his shoulders, down his arms, and his thighs, touching that part of him that was so ready and willing. Clark moaned. Lois was touching him. He touched her there, and she nearly flew off the bed.

She knew what he was thinking. "I want that too." She smiled again. "Tell me you will always be by my side or on top of me or under me, all of it."

Clark said, "Do not ever doubt it." He did not want to rush this. He knew she was ready for him, but not yet. He kissed his way down her beautiful body. His mouth was on her knee nibbling and licking down her smooth thighs, her long legs, and beautiful feet. Then his hot breath was at the juncture of her thighs. Lois closed her eyes, held her breath and waited.

"I have looked at you in millions of ways and I have loved you in each. God you're beautiful," he murmured, then his fingers parted the lovely brown curls, two fingers slipped inside her, her inner muscles at once clasped and caressed, as if to draw him deeper. Clark was rapidly losing control. She was so warm and ready for him, her juices flowing over his hand. Her eyes were half-closed as a warm passion blush swept over her body. "Oh, Clark." She was moaning and shaking.

His fingers pushed higher and higher, as Lois' hips lifted off the bed. Then his mouth replaced his fingers, teasing and licking the straining little peak. Lois gasped in delight as he found his mark, and his tongue speared into her. His talented tongue moved feverishly through her folds, finding what he looked for. Lois ground herself against his face. Clark did not pause or relent, moaning in satisfaction, driving her higher and higher until at last, she screamed and shuddered with rapture.

He could not wait any more. He kissed his way up her body, tasting her lovely breasts, her soft throat and then her sweet mouth. He entered her slowly at first. Holding her face in his hands, he kissed her passionately, his tongue thrusting in rhythm with his hips. Lois wrapped her arms and legs around him.

The pleasure was too sweet. It had to be her, and after what happened, that night of passion, Lois was the one. Yes, he knew that now. "If I did anything right in my life, it was when I gave my heart to you."

She smiled at those words. Then suddenly, he could feel the residual contractions from her orgasm rippling along his length, and the sensation evoked an answering tremor in him. He tried to focus on something other than the pleasure that pulsed between his legs, tried to rein in his powerful need to release that his body demanded, but he was too far gone, and his climax rocketed through him with mind-numbing force.

Then Lois screamed his name and he collapsed on top of her, his breath coming in short gasps. After a moment, he rolled to his back taking her with him. He pulled her closer, stroking her hair and arms. Several minutes passed while their breathing returned to normal.

Lois tilted her head and looked at her lover. His eyes were closed beneath the dark fringe of his lashes, his lips swollen from their kisses. The scent of his skin combined with the musky smell of sex wafted to her nostrils. Her senses were filled with him, and her heart ached, but she had to wonder what would happen next after their morning of passion different from what they shared before.

Clark slowly opened his eyes and smiled at the amazing woman who held his heart captive. He stroked her hair and kissed her temple.

Lois leaned up on her elbow to look at him. She touched his cheek. "You promised to fix breakfast."

"Okay, but first race you to the shower." He winked at her and left the bed.

Did Clark Kent wink at me? She wondered. "Hey, hey, wait for me."

The water is running; she watched him lather up, but this is the first time they would shower together. "Can I join you?" She asked and continued to watch him enjoying the view.

He pulled her arm. "Get in here." Under the spray, he pulled her close and kissed her, she kissed him back. Minutes later, they cleaned each other enjoying it. After rinsing each other off, they went at it again as he pushed her up against the shower wall and entered in one smooth glide and kissing her throat and began that ancient rhythm and she matched that rhythm repeatedly.

Minutes later, it happened, they climaxed together each trying to catch their breaths as kisses and words of love and togetherness flowed from their hearts and minds.

An hour later, now dressed, and ready for work, in the kitchen eating breakfast and then the inevitable question came up.

Eating toast, bacon, and eggs, he asked, "How do you feel about what happened early this morning?"

She sipped her coffee and asked, "Are you talking about how we managed to sleep all night in the same bed without doing it?" She smiled at his expression.

"No, I was talking about our first time you know doing it differently?"

"Oh, that, yes, Clark, I enjoyed it, did you?"

"Yes, I did, but I have wanted to do it, but not sure if you wanted it too. I have seen videos and images of it on the Internet."

She almost spit out her coffee, holding in a laugh. "Oh, you have?"

"Yes, I have. Lois, you know I have not had sex before and I wanted to satisfy you and I thought we would try it and see how we feel about it."

"Clark, you are sweet, and yes I am very satisfied, and you do not have to worry about it, whenever or wherever we do it, I love every minute of it."

He felt relieved. "That is good to know. And you have no problem trying something new every now and then?"

She frowned. "What exactly did you see on the Internet?"

"Nothing too crazy, only men and women enjoying each other, that's it."

"And on that rather enticing note, it's time to go to work," she said and shook her head at that eye-opening conversation.

Their private office, the Planet:

They arrived in time for the staff meeting. They did not know this, but speculation about them was rampant especially after they returned from their weekend getaway and particularly gaining an office to themselves, and Clark heard most of it. He decided he would tell Lois about the gossip and soon.

After the meeting, Perry pulled them aside, now in his office, he gave them an update about the Prankster. "Take a seat." He paced in front of them. "Apparently, Griffin has been busy, he has been named, and his face is all over the news. At Whitmore Electrical Labs where Superman arrived the other day to stop a dummy bomb, which was a diversion to empty the building. Employees saw Griffin and his accomplice stealing electrical equipment to put together a weapon but who knows who or what he wants to destroy."

Lois and Clark glanced at each other. Clark took her hand. "It is me, Perry. He has made that pretty clear."

"That is not going to happen, not on my watch," Clark said firmly.

"Look, we have two places to get answers, Stanford Electronics and Whitmore Electrical Labs. Once we find out what was stolen, we can figure out his plan. His Father is on his radar in his files. Lois can start at Stanford, and Clark you head to Whitmore, and we can settle this for the last time."

He hated leaving her alone. "But can't the police get answers?"

"Yes, they can, in a week. We know how this type of thing can do harm on your nerves and thinking of what he could be planning. We can do this quickly and we can end this."

"Sure Chief," they spoke at the same time.

They left the office not sure how to manage this. Once near to her car, she pulled him aside. "We can do this. I have my beeper and you have yours, okay?"

"I do not like this, what if?" He let that hang. "Look you wait for me to arrive, then we can go inside together?"

"Sure, we can do that," she replied and kissed his cheek, then she drove away.

With a bad feeling, he watched her leave. In an alley, he changed and headed to the Labs and arrived in seconds. He talked to the employees and found out what was stolen. Now flying to meet up with Lois, he thought of what the weapon holds and what Griffin is building. It could be a weapon of mass destruction destroying everything in its path and it is terrifying. Would he go that far? He wondered and flew faster.

Lois arrived at Stanton Electronics; the same company that was robbed during the street smeared with oil incident. She arrived to speak to Griffin's father, who worked there, but he led her astray to find his son at a metal processing plant just out of town.

Clark notified the intel to Perry about the weapon and to contact the police and the DoD, he arrived at Stanford Electrical, but Lois is not there. Her car is gone then he asked around and found out she left but where is she? He wondered. He tried to reach her by using the beeper, but she did not respond.

Meanwhile, she arrived at the processing plant and two men, one of them is Griffin, came out to speak to her. She tried to run but she did not make it to her car. Soon she is tied up and unable to reach her beeper, Griffin spoke to her.

"Here we are again, Ms. Lane." The beeper went off again. "Destroy that thing," he shouted to his accomplice. The beeping stopped.

Meanwhile, back in the air again, Clark tried to find her by using his super hearing but all he could hear was noise coming to him, far too much noise and tried to filter it out and moments later, it worked, like his Mom had taught him.

Back at the processing plant, Griffin was becoming impatient. "It is time Ms. Lane, but to evaluate this amazing weapon, you will get the honor. He pointed the weapon at her face; Lois eyes went wide expecting her life will end.

He pulled the trigger as a powerful beam shot out and hit a delivery truck and it disintegrated into nothingness. Lois could not believe what she had just seen. Liking what he saw, he pointed it out the window just behind her, but Superman stood in its way and blocked the beam of light with his chest.

"What happened?" Griffin screamed and ran to the window and Superman had deflected the beam of light when he tried to blow up the Planet building.

'You did this." He quickly pulled his accomplice to his feet, hit him in the face, and threw him to the ground. While he did that, Lois managed to untie her loosely fitting ties from her hands, but her feet were free, picked up a metal pole and bashed their heads that knocked them both out. She saved herself. Superman arrived seconds later and watched the scene.

"Well, Ms. Lane, anything you need right now?" He hopped down from the window.

"No, I got this." They both smiled.

Back at the Planet:

After they returned to the office, he stopped her from leaving the car. "Lois, you should know, I heard staff talking about us."

"Oh, dear, what did they say?"

"Well, they seemed sure we are in a meaningful relationship."

"I wonder how they got that idea," she said, smiled and kissed his cheek.

"It may have something to do with our talks in the conference room, and the fact we do touch each other, and we stare into each other's eyes a few times a day, not to mention, the office we just got."

"Oh, I do see your point. Do not worry about it."

"I am not worried about me, but I do worry about your reputation. You are a brilliant journalist, and I am a nobody, and I do not want you to be hurt with this kind of gossip."

She took his hand. "Oh, I will be fine." She touched his cheek. "I love you and I do not care what anyone thinks about you and me because all I need is you, what we feel and our life together."

He took her hand and kissed it sweetly. "I love you too."

~o~o~

In the elevator, Clark spoke of Griffin and how he threw away his second chance. "What a waste; he was a brilliant scientist but his revenge plot against you did him no good, but back to prison for a long time."

Thinking of the weapon he built, Lois spoke up. "I agree; he was brilliant. Before you arrived, he proved his weapon worked and I have never seen anything like it. He pointed it at a huge truck, and it vanished in front of me."

"Well, I did manage to stop it, but the government has it now, and who knows what they will do with a weapon capable of that kind of destruction." He shook his head.

"Enough about world ending weapons. Let us celebrate my victory." She took his arm.

"Indeed, we shall," he said and thought of flying together. He smiled and there on her desk is a delivery of a dozen red roses. She whispered, "Now who sent these?" She sniffed them and glanced at her partner.

"I have no idea; read the card," he suggested smiling.

She read the card aloud: "I hope you like these flowers, a friend. A friend, Mr. Kent?" She asked, smiling and sniffed the lovely flowers again.

"Always a friend, Ms. Lane." He paused. "You are right; we do need to celebrate your 'victory,' today." He smiled. "Meet me on the rooftop." He left.

She frowned and whispered to herself. "The rooftop but why?" Then she thought about it. "Yes, of course, the rooftop. It does make sense."

Smiling, she grabbed her rooftop access card and her shoulder bag, and after exiting the elevator, she walked out onto the rooftop, and he is there in the suit. Surprised but she had no idea what was happening, and she came closer. "Clark, what is going on? Is anything wrong?" She looked him up and down admiring him. "I do love seeing you in the suit."

Smiling at that comment. "Yeah, I know you do." He took her hand. "Would you like a ride?"

She gasped and put her hand over her mouth. "Do you mean I can fly?"

"Yes, but I'll do the flying. You know, we have not flown together since the evening of our exclusive interview and when I brought you back to the Planet from the space shuttle."

Lois' eyes went wide then she smiled, unable to speak, thinking of flying with him again. "But this will be different, I mean, only for fun, am I right?"

"Yes, only for fun," he replied and pulled her closer. "Are you ready? Now place your feet onto mine."

"Okay," she said and stepped up onto his boots.

"Hold on tight now." Her arms around his shoulders then he took off into sky, her head under his chin afraid to look. Soon they were above the clouds. "Are you warm enough?" He did not wait for a reply and wrapped his cape around her. "You can open your eyes now." She finally looked down then raised her eyes to his face.

"Lois, sometimes, I come up here, floating in space not part of this world or anything and think about where I fit in, where I belong, but then I met you." He smiled.

She clasped him closer. "Yes, we met and here we are. Oh my, it's beautiful."

"You are beautiful." He leaned down and they kissed never wanting to stop.

Minutes later, her arms still around his shoulders, he released her lips. Suddenly shy, Lois ducked her head. She had never thought of herself as beautiful before, but she knew him, knew he would never lie to her, not because he told her that, but she felt it inside. And when the clouds touched her face and shoulders, Lois sighed at the wonder of it.

"Oh, Clark, I will never forget this night."

"Me neither," he said and pulled her ever closer.

Still holding him close, she whispered, "I believe it now, Clark," Lois said and smiled at him.

"What do you believe?" He asked and smiled. Smoothing hair away from her face, he kissed her cheek and neck.

Lois closed her eyes, enjoying his kisses. But before she could answer him, Clark kissed her repeatedly. Pulling him closer and running her hands through his hair, she kissed him back.

"I can't think," she whispered after he had stopped kissing her. Laying her head under his chin, she continued, "What was I saying?"

Chuckling, he replied, "Well, you were going to tell me what you believe."

"Oh, that, well," she said and leaned back so she could look him in the eye. "I believe true love has no boundaries or timelines or walls." She touched his chest above his heart. "We love each other and right at this moment, I have no doubts about you or about me."

He smiled loving those words.

After minutes of more kisses, she opened her eyes and told him how she felt. "I love you and you are not alone anymore."

He kissed her again and the stars were twinkling only for them.

The end.

A/N: I finally came back to this one as it seemed begging to be continued. After reading every chapter repeatedly, it needed more words to move them beyond 'that night' and as it appeared challenging. Yes, the club shooting was the most challenging, but I am glad I was able to move it further along to what lay ahead for them. Thanks for taking this unusual journey with me. Please comment and thanks again. I would genuinely appreciate it.
