It's been a year since Tai died and today was the day, Kari visited her brother in the cemetery alone without her parents because of work.
She was on her way up to the hill, wearing a pair of red and white strip converse. It's a gift from her brother and she wears that a lot of the time.
She ran into a couple of her friends when she took the last step. "Sora, Matt."
She was feeling better the moment she saw them, bringing a white lily in both of their hands and a sad smile plastered in them.
The reminder of her big brother's death was devastating.
"Kari, are you okay?" Sora asked, pulling away from Matt.
"Never been better. How have you been?"
The idea of seeing Matt and Sora after their adventure was enough to make Kari shed a tear again.
"Matt. Sora."
Kari pulled them into a hug, so tight that like afraid of losing them.
"We miss you too, Kari." Sora said softly. Matt shrugged and Kari took both of their hands, dragging them to the grave of her family.
"Come on, let's go see Tai. I'm sure he would've like to see us again."
Sora snorted. "That's funny coming from you, Kari. Because each time you will drag him or us to see even though he didn't want to."
Kari stuck out her tongue.
If Tai saw this, he would've been sighing outloud. How could he not? It's the same thing he did back when Kari was so hype to his soccer game but Tai was not because he's lying on his bed, sick.
Sick.
Sora didn't notice even though they've been together for a long time. Matt seemed down too, realizing that he has make the same mistake.
She wanted to cry.
Kari could tell by the expression on their face that they were upset about something. Probably about Tai.
"Are you two thinking about Tai?"
They froze in their track. It seemed like Kari was right.
The little girl hugged them, who looked like they were going to cry, with her little arms. She knew that a year will do nothing to erase guilt and regret resided in their heart, her minds maybe still a child but her heart was not.
And she understood. She could geel the tears run down her arm before she even started talking again.
"I know you guys miss him." She whispered and Sora snapped, can't keep her feelings inside anymore.
"Why did Tai have to die? He barely even out of the house and holed up in the hospital."
"..."
"So, why?!"
Sora hated yelling at her friend's sister. It wasn't her fault but she couldn't help it.
Tai was dead.
She had never lost anyone that close before. Tai was her friend when they played soccer since she was a kid and they were inseparable.
Now, he's not here.
Kari let go of her arms and looked up to both of their eyes.
"Tai was happy."
"What?"
"He was happy in the digital world. That's what I've been feeling. In the past, he always force a smile on his face that sometimes I wished I could turn that upwards but it didn't work."
"..."
"And I was glad we were transported into digital world."
Kari said in a faint voice, making them look under the tone in her voice. Her face similar to Tai, courage shone in her eyes under the light of the sun reflecting her whole.
"So please, don't say that."
She whispered softly. It made them realize that they were mistaken and thanks to her, they can let go of their feelings easily.
For that, they were thankful to Kari. If it wasn't for her, they probably can't move on. In a split second, they could feel the wind blowing their face as if it laughed them, almost like Tai.
They stared at each other before laughing together.
Tai was happy. That was all that matters.

A/N : this is where we will part in this story. I finished it even though it's late!
I know I published it on 26th april but forgive me since I was busy at the time, I already told in early chapter that I publish early on wattpad so I hope it will lessen my fault a little (;༎ຶٹ༎ຶ).
I wrote a lot of facts in wattpad under the same story but I won't copy it here since it's already embarassing enough to read it again.
To my reader, thank you so much! Hope you will read my next digimon fanfic or my other story. Until we meet again!
