Summer and Seth are at Portland with Luke, they arrived a week ago and Luke and his father welcomed them with open arms and they are having a very great time: visiting the city, learning surf and hanging with Luke's friends from school. And even if he's having a great time Seth is worried because in the past month Ryan has not called even a single time and they promised to call and keep contact.

"Luke, can you call him and learn how he is doing? I don't want to impose"

"Cohen, you should call him yourself. I am sure that he talks with Sandy and your dad would have told him about you. He cares about you, all of you"

So that night Seth decided to call, Summer besides him on the bed, squeezing her free hand for moral support. She can't understand what he is going through because she talks with Coop almost daily and can't wait to see her when they come back.

"Ryan"

"Hey buddy, it's me, Seth Cohen. You know? Tall, skinny, no ass and use irony as a defence tactic"

"Hey dude, I was wondering when you would call? I see that you are as talkative as always"

"Well, that was not going to change in a month Ryan"

"And where are you now? And you actually left your parents and went with Summer? That's irresponsible dude, they have enough with me leaving"

"Ry, I couldn't stay there all summer and just…it may sound childish but I was used to be your brother, just that but hey, at least I didn't left Sum alone and she came with me buddy"

"Of course she went with you, she adores you"

"How you doing man? We are at Portland with Luke by the way, Summer is right beside me" Summer say hi and she hears Ryan's reply ald she can't help but feel sad that one of her best friend is never coming back "How is Theresa?"

"I am good man, I work as a builder in a place near home and Theresa is doing ok, have some nausea and dizziness but that's normal. Listen Seth, I am sorry for not calling you, but the truth is that I misses you guys and didn't have the guts to listen to you guys and miss you more"

After that the conversation turns very sentimental but also funny and easygoing, like it has always been between them and after that Seth is really carefree and enjoying himself more. Summer appreciates the changes for the next couple of weeks.

It is the 10th of August and they are still there when they have their biggest argument so far because Seth is refusing to go back to Newport even if he promised Summer so she left in the first plane of the night, ending things with Seth. She cries all the flight back to Newport and Sandy is the one that picks her from the airport.

He gives her a hug and she cries on his chest.

"I am sorry that my son is an ass Summer but I am sure that he would regret this and you would be ok again"

Summer is not so sure about that after three days has gone and he is not back in Newport, he had called, obviously but she is not going to pick the phone.

Meanwhile in Portland Luke is mad at Seth for doing what he did to Sum and trying to persuade him to come back but with no results so Sandy is the only other option. When Seth see his dad there he get mad at him because Sandy did exactly the same when he was sixteen.

"Seth, you have loving parents and a girlfriend that cried herself to sleep the day she left you and you have forgot that she came with you because she loves you and now you are selfish again"

"I…ok, I would come back with you but my life at school would return to be a living hell without Ryan by my side"

"You should learn to fight your own battles son"

So by the fourteenth Seth is back at Newport and have the mission of win Summer back so he starts by sending flowers to her house with a card:

Dear Summer

I am the most selfish and stupid boy to have walked this planet because I had the most beautiful, hottest girl in the world and let her go. I know that you have suffered so I want to demonstrate you how much I love you.

I would not contact you until you tell me I can but please, I am begging for your forgiveness.

Your idiot ironist boyfriend,

And Summer's smile is brighter than the sun when she receives the flowers but soon remembers that she should be mad at him and just decides to not contact him so she goes shopping with Marissa and then they relax on her new pool.

"Sum, he made a mistake because he felt sad and alone because of Ry, like all of us, you should forgive him, you know how much he loves you"

"I know but I want to see what more he is willing to do until I forgive him. But changing subject, what are you going to give me for my birthday?"

Marissa smirks at her and just tell her she would love it.

That night, when she is back home, her father says that she has a package so she opens it to find the new season of The Valley on DVD and a couple of exclusives magazines. It has also a card but this time it has a drawing of Seth and Summer on the Summer Breeze and she smiles again and decides to send him a text.

Thanks for the flowers and the DVD but I am still mad at you. Just keep doing this sweet things

Cohen: you deserve the world and I understand if you are still mad but I love you and I am sorry.

Sum: I love you too, don't ever forget that but I need time to forgive you. You know something about Chino?

Cohen: I visited him today at work, he looks like the average builder now, I just hope he doesn't burn this building too.

Summer laughs and keep talking to him for a while until she goes to sleep. In two days would be her birthday and she hopes her party goes well.
