Chapter 15: The problem with Prophecies
Near the portals... in the woods
"And exactly what am I going to tell Harry?"
"The truth" Sauce responded
"Oh yeah," she acted it out smugly "Hey Harry, Dumbledore is trying to take over the entire world but I want you to stay here where it's safe."
"More fiction" He shook his head "not his plan."
"What?" She rolled her eyes "then what is Dumbledore trying to do?" She flopped onto the ground not wanting to be in this conversation anymore.
"It's simple, Dumbledore isn't trying to take over anything..." Sauce smiled at her annoyance
"Really, he sure fooled me!" She stood up and started to head back to the Castle.
He took a breath, "obviously you just need to hear it straight out..." she slowed down "He is creating the need for Hogwarts."
Orria paused "What?" She turned and looked at him.
"Hogwarts operates on the concept of prepare the youth for the next big battle." Sauce shrugged "Dumbledore is creating the next big battle. He is creating the very people that he needs to prepare the students to fight."
She gasped "Hogwarts will fall into simply a thing of the past if peace comes to the wizarding world." Suddenly it clicked for Orria.
"A school kids get sent to only because their parents went there" he folded his arms across his chest proud of himself "not because they need it."
"It becomes obsolete."
"No, it would change to fit the times" he smiled "Dumbledore would become obsolete."
"All I need to do is..." she was confused "nothing, I need to keep Harry here, and let Dumbledore self destruct."
"Bad guys usually do." He laughed "that's why good usually wins, because evil is dumb."
Orria's was concerned "but what about the innocent people who are going to get hurt now?"
"Uh..." Sauce felt embarrassed
"We need to get a new prophecy" she frowned
"Why?" He was confused "now you're talking dumb." He mumbled.
"To know who is in danger" Orria glared at him "To know what is coming!"
"That second part really bothers you doesn't it?" He frowned at her
Orria hit him "Sauce, how am I to know the who, the what and the sequence of events."
"Won't matter," he shrugged "do you really want me to repeat my previous answer?" Orria balled up her fist so he caved "alright, alright" he huffed "Dranwoll is guarded" he overacted his words just to annoy her. "any prophecy you seek out would most likely come from someone who the protections around this place don't trust."
"It would be fiction again." She sighed "but that doesn't make sense, then how is it that they have prophecies and..."
"Because everyone is like you and can't stand not knowing. However, the truth is that every little thing affects the events of the future," he shrugged "complicated things like that can't be predicted easily."
"How do I know what could be coming?"
"Ask Luna."
Somewhere in the Castle...in stalking mode
The game of hunter versus prey had been going on for days. Just as Mandy had thought he had gotten away she would leap out of hiding and start pumping him for information.
He was weak compared to those innocent puppy like eyes so he caved nearly every time. By now he was too scared to go home. Punishment was sure to be quick "I can't reveal any more secrets..." he sighed "she needs to train our soldiers on how to properly interrogate the enemy."
He made his way down the hallway, carefully checking every corner.
Luna sat still, hiding..."he should be coming by any moment now"
"Stupid castle, why are you on her side" he entered the library to look for a book on plumbing when he saw a blonde streak emerge to his right side and circle around behind him. "Shit." He whirled around "I'm not here for your amusement Blondie" he growled, a panic rising within him.
The stacks to his rear left giggled...
Just as he started to turn around he felt a petite hand pinch his backside.
"Hey now, none of that." His voice shook as he tried to see where she was.
"You know what I want to see.." Luna giggled
"I am not a pet poodle, I don't do tricks on command!"
"Please" her voice came from multiple directions at once.
"That's dirty," he pointed at the roof scolding the castle "stop helping."
"Show me," Luna danced behind him "it is such an amazing creature, who else can admire every bit of your unique talents..." she quickly disappeared behind the rows of books.
"Not going to happen" his voice wavered "has anyone ever told you how creepy you are!"
"Some," Luna giggled "there is nothing more amusing than scaring the pants off someone."
"Oh, jeez..."
Luna's giggle came from multiple directions again.
Mandy slowly made his way to the books he needed "Look, why don't you go find Harry and amuse yourself with him, I have work to do in preparing this place to be a school."
"Hello, Mandy..."
Mandy let out a shrill terrified scream and whirled around with his arms up in defense.
"Really," Orria rolled her eyes.
Sauce was right behind her trying to hold back his laughter "so...'sup Mandy."
"Shut up Sauce."
Orria rolled her eyes "Luna can I talk to you?" She glanced at Sauce and Mandy "in private..."
"Hey, I was here for a book so..."
"We can talk in the garden." Luna danced by Mandy making him jump and scream again. Sauce let the laughter out and got hit with a book.
Orria sighed and addressed the castle "if they keep that up then you have my permission to lock them in a closet somewhere until they apologize."
"Don't tell it that," Mandy whined "it's on her side." He pointed at Luna who was standing quietly behind Orria just smiling.
"Okay, then you can lock Mandy in Luna's room and Sauce wherever you want." She turned and led Luna out of the room as Mandy screamed.
"I like that outcome better" Luna smiled "So you have some serious questions for me about the future?"
