It is finally Summer's birthday and everyone is nervous. Marissa is nervous because she wants her best friend to have the time of her life today and because she wants to tell her about DJ. Neil is nervous because he wants to take her daughter for lunch and ice cream but doesn't know if she is too old for that now that she is sixteen. Ryan is nervous because he knows is Summer's birthday but he doesn't know what to do because he considers her one of his best friends but he doesn't want to impose on her. Seth is nervous because Summer says she is still mad at him but he wants to spend the day with her or the part of the day that she has free and he has a cool present but he also doesn't want to impose. And Summer is nervous because is very early in the morning and she is at the Cohen's driveway debating with herself if she should forgive Seth or not but she decides that yes, she should because he is the love of her life.

So she knocks on the door and Kirsten open it after a minute or so. She smiles a wide smile and hugs Summer.

"Happy Birthday Summer! How come you are here so early?"

"Well, I am meeting Marissa at ten for a spa and shopping morning and then my dad after that for lunch but I wanted to see Seth first so we can make plans and you know, let him know that I forgive him even if he is an idiot"

"Yes, he is an idiot sometimes but I know that he loves you very much so just go up there to talk to him. I am not even sure if he is awake yet or not but I suppose it doesn't matter. I would make you both some breakfast"

Summer takes a deep breath before going upstairs and she takes the steps very slowly so she can have time to calm herself and her nervous feelings at seeing her boyfriend again. Or is he not his boyfriend anymore? Are they done for real? Summer, it has just been like a week, he is still your boy Before she knows it she is in front of his door and remembering the first time she was there when Marissa was in the hospital after TJ or every other moment spent here like their first dance after confessing that she was also a virgin or when she was studying Judaism to impress the Nana.

She knocks on the door but Seth doesn't answer so she opens the door and what she finds makes her smile because Seth is snuggling his favorite pillow like he would do if it was her besides him on bed and his curly hair is wild and he is sleeping without a shirt on. Summer caress his cheek and lay besides him on the bed and because of the movement of the bed Seth starts to stir and slowly peels his eyes open, looking directly into Summer's chocolates eyes.

"Wha...What? Am I still dreaming?"

"No silly, its real, I am here with you"

Seth rubs his eyes and smiles at her but then remembers that it is her birthday and hugs her tightly: "Happy birthday my little Summer! Wait, are you not mad at me?"

"Thank you, Cohen, and yes, I was furious but...well, your flowers and cards and presents were so cute that I kept thinking of you and that I should talk to you before my party today"

"Ok, first, I am so sorry that I was stupid and selfish and second I love you and I would always love you and please, please, forgive me so I can give you your awesome birthday present and be with you at your party making out and showing you off to those jerks"

Summer laughs and Seth thinks that his purpose in live should be making her laugh and he realizes that he wants to be with her forever. Yes, it is true that he has been in love with her since they were ten but he was young and didn't know what it was to be with her, he didn't know the real her that would seem bitchy, stupid and angry all the time but that inside had a heart of gold, is very loyal, very generous and funny and for him that is everything that he wanted in a girlfriend.

Seth gives Summer his birthday presents that are an enormous teddy bear and 50$ on Spa Treatment for her and Marissa.

"I knew you would go with her today, like you go every year since you were like ten so I decided to invest in what you like the most and don't worry, I would take the teddy to your house later"

"hmmmm, very well-done Cohen" she kisses him sweetly on the mouth trying to express in that kiss how much love she feels for him "Thank you very much" and then the kisses turn into a heated make out session that is soon interrupted by their belly's sounds of hungriness.

"Ups, I suppose you have not had breakfast earlier?"

"Nope, so come one, your mom should be waiting and I have to meet Coop in half an hour"

So they have breakfast with Kirsten and Sandy at the kitchen table and Seth is back to his normal shelf, making jokes and using irony in every sentence and Sandy sings a song to Summer in honor of her birthday whom just smile and thanks him.

At ten-to-ten Summer leaves the Cohen house with a huge smile on her face and goes on a taxi to Marissa's house so they can go on her convertible to the spa and Marissa immediately asks her about Seth and they spend all the car ride to the spa talking about the sweet moment and Summer relationship with Seth and then they spend the time at the Spa gossiping and talking about DJ and what Marissa wants with him.

"I don't know Sum, I am still in love with Ryan but he is not coming back and DJ is a good distraction for all the drama"

"But what if Ryan comes back? Seth and Sandy wants him to come back"

"He would not do it while Theresa is having his baby" Marissa sighs "And I am sure that even if it is not his baby at the end he would stay because they have a connection and he would like to protect her because that is what he does, protect people"

"Well, he also has a connection with you Coop but I think that moving on is the right think for you right know"

At 1 pm, while he is on his lunch hour, Ryan has his phone open and ready to call Summer because he thinks it would be a great surprise so he dials her contact and wait for her to pick up the phone.

"Yes?"

"Summer, it's me Ryan, I just wanted to wish you happy birthday"

"Oh Atwood, how good to hear your voice and thank you so much! How are you? I don't have much time because I am meeting my dad for lunch but you are short on words so spill"

"Well, I am ok, I work at construction now and helping Theresa at home as much I can. I miss you guys though, even if Seth can be annoying with his constant rambling"

"Yes, he can be, this morning he have been rambling for three minutes without stopping a single time and then he struggles to catch his breath, haha"

Ryan smiles and it is so focused in his conversation with Summer, with Newport and his friends, that he doesn't feel Theresa behind him.

"You guys are back after Seth's fiasco?"

"Yes, I mean, he is an idiot but is my idiot. Ryan, my dad is here but thanks so much for calling"

"Bye Sum, have a nice day"

"Thanks Ryan and I would miss you at the party"

He closes his phone and then he feels Theresa so he turns around and smiles at her, even if it is not the same smile as it was the last month, hell, it is not even the same smile than ten minutes ago but Theresa kisses his cheek none the less.

"It was someone's birthday?"

"Yeah, Summer, Seth's girl. She is the little of us fourth: me on March, Seth and Marissa in May and Summer in August. They chose her name well."

Theresa feels for the first time that day in the middle of August that Ryan belonged somewhere else, he belonged with rich people that took care of him without any other motive than protecting him, he belonged with a certain blonde and with his brother and his brunette friend that is called after the season she was born in. But she hasn't realized yet how much he miss his family and friends.

Summer party is in full motion, some members of their old group of friends are swimming in the pool, Luke has come from Portland with his girlfriend too and Summer and Marissa are by the bar serving drinks, when Seth arrives.

Luke is the first one to see him and give him a manly hug and a grin "Cohen! I hear you managed to solve things with Little Summer uh?"

"Yeah man, I was stupid but not so anymore. How are you? And who is this lady here?" Luke's girlfriend blushes but introduce herself as Melanie, just Mel for friends, and turns to grab a drink from Marissa "Someone's shy"

"I am great man; we just saw each other a week ago. Have you contacted Chino?"

Everyone looks at Marissa and silence overcome their conversation but Marissa smiles and says that they can talk about Ryan, that she is ok. So Seth takes the opportunity to answer.

"I visited a couple of days ago and he told me he was good and working hard for money but he seemed sad, I don't know. I don't think he would come back because he thinks that baby is his responsibility even if he is not the father. But now, if you excuse me, I have someone to greet"

Seth walks slowly to Summer, giving her a funny look and wrapping his long arms around her tiny waist and lifting her so he can spin her around and while in the air he kisses her mouth sweetly, Summer's legs wrap around Seth's hips and they are soon in a full make out session with Summer's back against the wall, thank go Neil Roberts reading in his study.

"Well, someone wants to play ping pong?" says Marissa as soon as she sees her best friend pinned against a wall "Because as much as I love those two, I don't fancy watching them make out again"

They take turns playing ping pong until finally Seth and Summer come to the table, Summer's hair disheveled and Seth's polo wrinkled but both with the happiest looks Marissa has ever seen on them. And the party keep like that until it was nearing time to have dinner and Seth and Luke start the grill so they can make some burgers and hot dogs and everyone is nice to Seth, something that makes him even happier.

And then it is time for presents and Summer gets lots of new pieces of clothes, a new mani pedi kit, jewelry from her father and a new purse from Luke and Melanie, she is surprised by her best friend's present that is tickets to the new Spice Girls concert in L.A next week for the two of them.

"Coop! This is perfect! Thank you so much!" Summer hugs her best friend and relaxes in the comfort of her vanilla shampoo that she has been using since they met when they were five and had been a constant in her life "We would have so much fun!"

For other thirty minutes people stay at Summer's house but Neil Roberts is tired and everyone except for Marissa and Seth leaves the house. Both friends sense that Neil wants a moment with Summer alone so they go upstairs to wait in Summer's room.

Neil hugs her daughter and kiss her temple and Summer feels very secure in the arms of her father because even if he works a lot and he leave her alone on holidays sometimes she knows that he would always be there when it matters.

"Summer, I am so proud of you and I have to give you your present, c´mon!"

Sum takes her father's hand and they go to the back door where the garage is and Summer scream in happiness when she sees the grey BMW convertible that she has been dreaming about since she passed her driving test and asking as a present for her birthday.

"OH MY GOD DADDY! YOU BOUGHT ME A CAR?!"

"Yes, I purchased it the moment you asked for it when you passed your driving test. You know what I say regarding cars: you should be careful and secure, always watching and never use your phone while driving"

Summer hugs her dad and call Seth's cellphone so they can come and see the car and when Marissa look at the car she grins and scream in happiness with Summer.

"Wow Sum, is awesome and it's very similar to the one my mom bought me to win me back. Wow, we would have a perfect tan driving around in convertibles"

"Yes, congrats Sum! But I am starting to get jealous that Ryan and I have to use my mother's car" Sum give him a kiss to make him forget but soon she is inside the car and asking Coop to join "Cohen you wait here for me, I would take Coop to her car and would be here in fifteen minutes" Summer looks at her dad seriously "Be good to Seth dad"

And Neil smirks at Seth's expression of horror because since Summer started her teenage years he has been waiting to scare her boyfriends away but this time he is starting to realize that her daughter is deeply in love with the skinny boy and he play golf with Sandy and knows that Seth have perfect marks, never got drunk or wasted and just did a couple of reckless things lately but he can see how much Seth loves Summer.

"C'mon Seth, wait for Summer in her bedroom"

"I have to take the teddy bear I gifted her this morning to her room from my car" he goes to the Range and takes the enormous teddy out of the back and Neil opens the back door for him "I thought it was a great idea until I had to carry it from my bedroom to the car and then from the car to her bedroom, I am starting to regret it"

"Well, I think it is a great gesture Seth, thanks for making Summer happy and also, I have to thank you for keeping her safe this summer while I was out, I hate that she stays here alone all summer"

"It's no problem sir, she is always good company for me and we had a great time but maybe, next year, you could stay with her here or something so she isn't so sad" Seth hesitates in saying what he knows he has to say but he finds courage inside of him "Listen Mr. Roberts, I am sorry if you think I am not enough for your daughter but the truth is that I love her, very much, I would give my life for her and even if everyone thinks this is a high school thing, I don't think so, not for me at least"

Neil actually smiles at Seth and pat his shoulder to leave him at the bottom of the stairs but for Seth, that's more that he was hoping for so he takes the steps two at a time and goes to his girlfriend room to let the teddy in one corner of her room and grabs Princess Sparkle to brush her hair while waiting for Summer.
