After the Snow Dance Seth and Summer spend a lot of time talking about Seth jealousy problems and insecurities towards himself and his relationship with Summer and they also talk about Summer's way of acting as a petulant child because of the way she was raised and how Seth doesn't care except when it means keeping a secret from him. They did good, they were back on track after a week or so and now Seth is getting ready for his favorite holiday, a holiday that last year was a fiasco because of playing with Anna and Summer, but that this year is going to be epic because he would have Summer and Ryan with him, and Marissa and Lindsay and his nana and grandfather.
So a week before Christmas Eve Seth, Summer, Ryan and Marissa go to pick the tree for the Cohen and the Roberts' residences and that proved to be difficult because Summer is a perfectionist in the art of picking the best Christmas tree and Marissa has told that to the boys that didn't believe her but now they do and they are complaining a lot.
"What the fuck Marissa. This trees looks exactly the same for me, what is she doing?"
"I told ya, for her they are not the same: some's has wider branch, others are way too small for her enormous patio or her very big montain of presents so, we would be here for at least two hours before she finds the best tree. Last year we were here for three and a half hour and she drove her father crazy"
"There has to be a reason for this, right?"
"Yes, but that's not my story to tell Seth, you would have to ask her and I am sure she would share with you"
And, as Marissa said, they spend two and a half hours on the Christmas tree farm before leaving with two perfect tress. And once he and Ryan put the tree on Summer's patio with the help of Summer'd dad and say goodbye to the girls they leave to their own home.
"The fun can start now Ryan, my friend" Seth pat Ryan's arm "I would take the Christmas decorations from the garage while you and my dad set the tree on the living room and then we would start decorating"
Ryan roll his eyes at the way Seth gets away with lifting heavy things everytime and call Sandy to help him set the tree in the living room and once that is done Kirsten arrives with Seth and a montain of boxes with Christmas ornaments. Ryan helps Kirsten with one of the boxes, at what Kirsten gives him a kiss on the cheek what makes Ryan blush because he is not use to that kind of affection, his family never show love or any kind of affection.
"Ok guys, we shall pick some ornaments because we have a lot and we need them to match to create the perfect decoration for the tree and Seth, do you have the box of lights?"
"Yes dear mother, I think this year it would be better to have white lights with the red and gold ornaments?"
Kirsten and Seth start discussing the best ornaments to finally setting with Seth's idea and Sandy and Ryan joining them in decorating. For Ryan, whom has never had a good Christmas memory, it is one of the best moments of his short life: Christmas carols on the background, his parents and brother laughing and sharing stories about past holidays with him while decorating the perfect tree and setting the Christmas sock with his name that they have given him as an early present in the fireplace beside Seth's.
After a couple of hours they admire their work and smile at the Christmas tree decorated with red and gold ornaments and white lights and to the surprise of all three boys Kirsten give them a present.
"I asked a friend of mine to make it because her work is absolutely breathtaking" the boys look at the handmade ornament "Do you like it?"
Seth smiles when he sees his name in a gold circle surrounded by the Batman, Spiderman and X-Men signs
"Oh mom, you don't know how much I like that the Christmukkah spirit get to you so well"
"Wow Kirsten, thank you so much" says Ryan while looking at his own customed ornament with his bycicle and a hammer on it while he looks at Sandy's one that is decorated by surfboards and the balance of justice.
"It is my present to you, I also purchased one for me so in this way our trees would be more us than ever"
So, after putting the last touches on the tree they decorated the rest of the house but not the outside because Kirsten doesn't like to start decorating outside until a week or so before Christmas.
A couple of days later Ryan and Seth are in a mission in South Coast Plaza looking for the best presents, specially the ones for their girlfriends.
"What would you buy a girl that have everything she wants? Ug, sometimes I wish Summer's dad wasn't this rich because now I have to use my brain to find the perfect gift"
"Well, I don't have that problem with Lindsay and I know what to buy her" Ryan enters a music store and ask for oboe sheaths "Her sheath is very old and she has been talking non stop about buying a new one so I would gave it to her and then I would gave her a spa treatment in Balboa Hotel, you know, the one I did with Marissa with the massage, spa circuit and all that shit"
"Would you go with her?"
"No, I bought two tickets but I want her to go with her mom"
After they buy Lindsay's present, they spent a couple of hours looking for the perfect gift for Summer but they decide to buy their presents for everyone else and come back another day for Summer's.
"Should I give something to Marissa?"
"Well, it would be kind of rude if you don't, she would be having dinner with us on Christmas Eve and even I have something for Marissa"
"What? What did you buy her?"
"The new Journey CD and SuperGirl comic because in one of our conversations she said she used to like that character"
So Ryan starts panicking because now he has to buy something for his ex-girlfriend and he has no idea what to do. He knows Marissa very well but every present that comes to his mind is very personal for just a friend so Seth suggest a gift card from one of her favorite clothes shop and that, to Ryan, seems like the perfect gift.
A couple of days later Seth is once again in South Coast Plaza but this time he has something in mind. He goes directly to the jewelry shop and buy Summer a perfect necklace with matching earrings. He also buy a spa treatment for the both of them because that is something that they have never done together and it would mean Summer in a bathing suit.
Christmas Eve is here and the core fore are playing PlayStation in the pool house while the adults talk in the house when Lindsay arrives with YamaClaus and some sweets so Marissa let her have her place and they soon discovers that Lindsay is quite as bad as Summer and Marissa with PlayStation.
When they decide that it is time for dinner they find all the family reunited and arguing. The level of yelling is so loud that they can't understand what the argument is about, the only one not present is Nana Cohen. When they stop, Lindsay asks her mother what is she doing in the Cohen kitchen.
"Well, I have something to tell you and it is something that would upset you a lot but I hope you can forgive me one day"
And when Lindsay, Kirsten and Julie know the truth about Caleb's affair and paternity the Christmukkah get ruined for all the family and while Ryan go after Lindsay and Seth after his mom Marissa and Summer get upstairs to Seth's bedroom.
"This is unbelievable, can't we have a Christmukkah with no drama? Like normal people have, just dinner, presents and movies. It's not much to ask for"
"Well, this is Newport and we are the Cooper-Nichols and the Cohen's, our live is a drama in itself"
Seth return soon after and tells them that dinner is definitely over and to grab a bite at the diner where they meet Ryan and Summer has her idea to save the day so while Ryan goes to the house to try to talk to Kirsten, Seth, Marissa and Summer goes to Jimmy's boat and then to Lindsay's house to set the decorations: while Marissa and Lindsay's mom set the reindeer and Santa, Seth and Summer put the lights on the front porch and less than an hour later Ryan appears with Kirsten, Sandy and the Christmas' tree and all of them redecorate the tree.
"Wow my little Summer, you sure knows how to get me off my feet" Seth hugs Summer and gives her a kiss "You know that this is my favorite holiday and you have introduced it so well into your life"
"Of course I do Cohen, you know that my holidays, since my mother left, had not be very happy so I love Christmukkah spirit and I love you, so"
Seth smiles and hugs her tighter and they only separate when Ryan approach them to ask a favor of Seth.
"Can you go find Lindsay? Her mother says that she is at the beach and well, if anyone can convince her to come that's you"
So after Seth gets Lindsay and they celebrate together, the Cohen's and Summer go to the Cohen's house to exchange presents even if the day of the big presents is Christmas day.
Kirsten gets spa and massage tickets from Seth and Ryan and a new watch from Sandy while he gets a new surfboard from his sons and a new briefcase with his initials engraved from Kirsten. Seth gives Ryan a new PS controller and a new watch from his parents while Summer give him a stuffed leopard so that can be his personal Captain Oats and Ryan is very touched by this. Seth gets a new collection of comics from Ryan, the same watch as Ryan from his parents and some new Christmas jumpers from Summer while Ryan gives her a set of aromatic candles and Seth gives her the spa treatment for two.
"Oh finally Cohen, I had wanted to go with you to the spa for months"
"I know, that's why I got it. We can go whenever you want to"
Summer gives him a kiss appropiate for parents presence and then the family plus Summer enjoy a movie together.
"Mom, Dad, can Summer stay the night? It is kinda late and I don't want her to drive alone"
"Of course she can honey and she also can sleep with you but…no funny business son"
Seth do a gross face but internally he is smiling like crazy at thinking how different this Christmukkah is from last year's and he gets to sleep even more happy at the feeling of Summer's hands against her chest and their legs interlaced.
On Christmas morning Seth wakes up to the smell of Summer's shampoo so he press his nose further into Summer's neck what wakes her at the tickles she feels because of his nose on her neck.
"Hello my little Summer, how did you sleep?"
"Hi Cohen, Merry Christmas! You know I always sleep better when I am with you" at those words Seth smirks "WHAT? You know it's true but if you tell anyone I said that I would kill you while you sleep"
"Oh, I believe you, yes, I know what you are capable to do"
They enjoy their morning make out before going downstairs to wake Ryan but that isn't necessary because he is having breakfast at the kitchen island.
"Morning Atwood"
"Hello Roberts. Did you sleep well?"
"Umuh, it was ok" she says while looking at Seth that just smile at her "What are your plans for the day?"
"Well, we have to exchange Christmas day presents and then I want to go to Lindsay, she how she is doing and maybe hang out with her. You?"
"I would stay to give my present to Seth and then I would spend the day with Dad and the monster. He finally got a day off work"
So after breakfast they get under the Christmas tree and start exchanging presents and when Summer opens Seth's gift she gasp at the diamon necklace and earrings that, even if not expensive, are beautiful.
"I engraved the date of our anniversary, you know, 13th of February, so you would always remember me"
"Oh Cohen, this are beautiful. Did you choose them?"
"Yes, if you don't really like it I have the ticket for you to exchange it"
"Are you mad? This are beautiful. Thank you sweetie"
"Merry Christmas Summer"
"It is indeed merry Cohen"
