AN: Okay, so I had almost given up hope on updating this story. I had started this one thinking nothing and now, it's my most popular one. But there is one thing, I am not happy with some things I had done with this story in the past and now, I want to change them.

So I am doing an event to change the timeline. Like a retcon, or a twist, or whatever, I am not a genius. I fear that it may not be good but I believe it may stop my stress about this story.

This may restart the story as a whole and bring many major changes. I would like to thank HPFanfictioner66 for the motivation and would gladly suggest people to check out his works.

"Avada Kedavra."

Harry did not know what it was, but this seemed so sudden, like it happened out of nowhere. He felt as if he was being torn and then suddenly, nothing exsted.
_

"The boy has messed up big time, sister."

The other old woman said, "I know, I wanted him to. The world had grown too chaotic, I wanted to bring peace but instead Death had the boy bring more chaos."

Her other sister said, "Let us change the strings. It may be for the best to restart with this, it may not be the best but at least it will not get too out of hand."

The three sisters agreed with this and started chanting, all the yarns in their basket starting to float and tangle and untangle. It was not a pretty sight but it was not scary either, it looked important though.

And then, it happened.
_

Harry Potter woke up with a gasp.

He had felt something happen but could not remember what. He tried to move himself but felt a spike of pain pass through his body as he did so.

"Calm down, Harry," Hermione spoke in annoyance, "We just survived your dumb plan of trying to get back Hogwarts and failed, we do not want you to get worse."

"The Dementors?" asked Harry

Hermione answered, "They are still after us. Hagrid's hut cannot keep them from getting in forever. I do not know what magic Dumbledore did but he had warded this place off pretty good, it's getting weak though."

Harry thought of the multiple possibilities but only one made him even a bit happy. He said, "We can go out loud and dumb or we can use the Time-Turners to travel back in hours to get away when the Dementors aren't there."

Hermione pointed out, "We cannot do the latter, Harry. The Dementors have been there for more than five hours, which means that we cannot use them due to the Laws of Magic."

The door of Hagrid's hut blasted open before Harry could speak and a Dementor floated in, its hand as black and skeletal as ever and its cloak weathered and dusty. But this time, the cloak was unable to hide something, the face of the foul beast was visible.

Hermione and Harry gasped as they felt the chill, the latter of the two friends feeling faint. His Time-Turner fell from his hands as the beast floated closer than it was.

There was a large golden flash and a shriek from Hermione before all went dark for Harry.
_

"You, foul loathsome little beast!" Hermione shouted angrily as she sent powerful fire spells to keep the Dementor away from her and Harry as they passed through a tunnel made of rocks, metals and sticks of a rainbow colour.

The Dementor roared in rage after every attack but kept trying to attack, it was as if they were struck.

Harry moved a bit beside her feet and she tried for a Patronus again, just to fail from being so tired.

Hermione panted as she fired fire spells again, the Dementor tiring as well with her. It had been several minutes, even an hour really, since this battle was happening.

Hermione's grip on her wand slipped and that's all it took for the beast to crawl over to Harry and . . .

"NO!" Hermione said loudly as the Dementor Kissed Harry and then fell back, as if satisfied for life. Harry had went limp and wasn't even breathing from the looks of it and the world went dark for Hermione as she felt the exhaustion kick in.
_

Harry shuddered as he woke up, free from all, as he gazed upon a sleeping Hermione with a Dementor. How did that happen?

Harry felt as if he should have been scared and angry but he couldn't feel anything but a serene joy as he stood up. Harry grasped Dumbledore's wand and gazed around the green fields he was in.

What had happened?

The Dementor started twitching violently, the cloak falling off the creature to reveal a black skeleton of a child with burnt meat on its face, Harry wanted to puke but he couldn't feel anything.

The Dementor's mouth opened and instead of the chilling darkness, there was a bright light and then, it burst.

That's right, the Dementor burst like a balloon. Harry had more questions than he had felt his entire life but all he could do was shield his face from the resulting black goop and sticks flying everywhere.

He heard a little groan and immediately wanted to run away. Hermione was awake and sure to be angry about whatever was happening. Of course, she would also try to get a book from somewhere to research what was happening.

Hermione gasped, "Harry?! But – but – I – how?!"

Harry asked confusedly, "What?"

Hermione fell to the ground and started sobbing, Harry was not sure why but he ran up to her and then started consoling her, "It's okay, Hermione, it's all fine. The Dementor killed itself and we are both in a grass field near a cliff to jump off of, it's all goo-."

Hermione cracked a smiled at Harry's attempt to make the cliff funny. She brought him down with her, where he felt all the goop that he had gotten only on his legs. She hugged him tightly and he melted into it.

She said, "Thanks, Harry. I thought – I thought –", she started tearing up again before fixing herself up and saying, "I thought the Dementor Kissed you."

He felt a bit touched that she was so sad thinking that he died but a question went up in his head. He wondered aloud, "Why didn't it Kiss me? Or you? It had all the chances it could get when we were unconscious."

Hermione said, "I don't know, Harry, I don't know."

1 September 1975

James Potter was really sure that he could have pranked the Great Hall today, but he had left it due to the fact that he wasn't feeling it today. Sirius had been all tired, Remus was really hungry, Peter wanted to complete his homework by today's midnight and James didn't want to prank alone.

They would do it tomorrow, thinking off how they can have frogs raining from the sky over everybody, especially McGonagall, who thought that she could get away with making Remus a Prefect.

Dumbledore stood up as the meal finished. He looked really glad today and James immediately looked at the new Defense Professor. He was young, almost as if he had just passed school.

'He must have been a Ravenclaw,' James decided. Nobody wanted to deal with school except those bookworms, even Slughorn looked as if he was tired every second and he had been at Hogwarts as long as Dumbledore.

Dumbledore announced, "Welcome back, all our students, and welcome to those who are new! I hope you all had a great summer to get all the late sleeping out of the way and I hope that you are all as eager to learn as I was as a child."

James really liked that Dumbledore was always as genuine as he was, the man could never fake an emotion. James really admired that.

Dumbledore continued, "Mister Filch has reminded me that the list of forbidden articles has exceeded too much since last year and I warn our troublemakers to not enter the Forbidden Forest as there are many dangerous elements there."

He looked at James and his friends, his eyes twinkling but his mood strict. James smiled innocently as Sirius tried to hide a burp.

Dumbledore started talking again, "As the previous year's Defense Professor quit her job due to some intense stress, we have our new Professor right here today! Please welcome Professor Harry Evans, who had been really active in the International Dueling Circuit for the past five years and I hope he has a wonderful time here."

Remus nodded as if he would make sure that his friends do not prank him but James just snorted, as if anybody could convince him otherwise.

They will test this newbie to make sure he isn't just a smug prat and then they will test how better they are getting at pranking every month if the man doesn't fell for their starting trick.

Of course, it was not that new of a tradition since their previous two professors were gits, prats or spoiled brats. The last competent professor James had was in his first year, a retired Auror by the name of Robin, a secretive fellow who had been a friend of Dumbledore during the war against Grindelwald. It was shocking how even after being disinherited, the man had gotten a comfortable life, just on the basis of hard work alone!

James' Professor for Defense against the Dark Arts in his second year was a rather old woman, who was well enough in teaching, but turned out to be secretly running a smuggling ring in Knockturn Alley, it was a huge scandal.

Professor Evans stood up and James fully saw him for the first time, he wasn't clearly paying attention before and now was a good time to do so.

The man was young, in his early twenties, likely in his mid-twenties, if he was active in the International Dueling Circuit for the last five years after National Rings for Dueling. He had messy black hair and dark green eyes, which were really dark to James.

Evans also looked fit, which wasn't really surprising, and looked like what he thought a random muggle looked like after school. It was if his own cousin was here to meet him. Hell, even the Professor's robes were just put on some muggle clothes.

Evans said in a surprisingly confident voice that James didn't expect, "Hello, all of you! My name is Harry Evans and I will teach you Defense against the Dark Arts this year. I hope that none of you try to give me a chocolate because I have eaten too much of it."

Peter muttered quietly, "But there is never too much chocolate."

Remus and James agreed in unison with their friend. Chocolates are amazing, no matter what Sirius says.

Evans sat down and James heard some students clapping loudly while others clapped politely, still not sure what to think of him.

This is going to be an interesting year.
