Chapter 18
Flying Lesson
"Hey, Harry! Are you ok? I hope you do not take it into your heart about Snape." I said to him at the lunch. Yup! I decided to eat with him and Longbottom at Gryffindor table. I ate mashed potatoes while waiting for his answered. I can see from corner of my eyes that Granger trying to eavesdropping on us. I glared at her. Granger flushed and huffed at me.
"No. It's fine. I just don't understand why he hate me." Harry said quietly without looking at me. I glanced at Longbottom and saw that he's trying to consult Harry.
I am not sure what to say to him. No way I will said that Professor Snape and your father hated each other. Your father was a bullied. I thought.
"Maybe because you're Gryffindor?" I bit my lip. He looked at me.
"I don't think so. It's like he's targeting me." He explained. I can sense that he looked like that he will cry any minutes.
"Harry, just ignore Snape. I don't think he like any of the Gryffindor. Besides, we only have potion once a week." Longbottom tried to cheer Harry. He gave a small smiled. Thanks, Longbottom! I am glad he 's good person. Suddenly, an owl came towards our table while carried a package and fly straight to Longbottom. He opened the package.
"It's remembrall!" He stated, looking at it. Longbottom explained to Harry about it when he saw that Harry looked confused.
I saw Malfoy who was passing the Gryffindor table and snatched the remembrall out of his hand.
"Give it back, Malfoy!" Longbottom stuttered. I face palmed. Can I have some peace?
"Is there any problem here?" Professor McGonagall asked sternly who arrived at Gryffindor table.
"No, professor! Just looking at this thing." Malfoy said while giving it back to Longbottom and left.
After that, we ate in silence. I invited Harry and Longbottom to go outside Castle to take fresh air. They agreed.
"So..are you look forward about flying class?" I began the conversation after we chose to sit under the tree near the Lake.
"No. I'm afraid of flying." Longbottom admitted. I patted his shoulder.
"Relax, Neville! I don't think you need to worry because there will be a teacher." I tried to calm him. He gave me strained smile. I looked at Harry waiting for his answered.
"I..I'm not sure. I really hope that I will not end up embarrassing myself in front of Slytherin. They may tease me non-stop." He replied unsurely. My lips twitched remember about what happened in the movie. How Longbottom fell down, Malfoy fighting with Harry. How troublesome. I thought with sighed. I stay quiet because I am not sure what to say to them especially Harry consider he is 'The Boy Who Lived'.
"Have you done you homework?" I changed the subject.
"No."They shook their head. I told them that they need to start to do it or they might no be able to have free time. They laughed and teased me as a bookworm.
I tried to act like I felt offended but end up laughing with them.
"Ma..ma..I just remind you. No need to call me bookworm, ok?" I smiled. They nodded, smiling at me.
"We have something to tell you!" Harry said suddenly. Huh? Something? Now, it make me curious! Hehe. Harry glanced at Longbottom. Longbottom nodded, giving a signal to Harry that he agreed whatever Harry wanted to say. Harry told me about the Gringotts, the talked they had with Hagrid and that they tried to find a clue. They asked whether I want to join them to investigate it. I nodded. We talked until it's time to go to flying class.
While waiting for the teacher, I heard that Malfoy and Weasley talked about their experience riding the broom to their friends. Oh, please! They acts like they're professional player. How annoying. I saw Granger reading a book about Flying. I smirked inwardly.
"My name is Madam Rolanda Hooch. You can call me Madam Hooch. Welcome to your first flying lesson. Now, I want all of you to stand besides your broom. Hurry up! I want you to stick your right hand and say up. " All of us which are Gryffindor and Slytherin students did as we were ordered. Gryffindor were facing the Slytherin. I smirked when I saw Weasley broom hitting his nose. After all of us managed to hold the broom, Madam Hooch ordered us to mount it.
"Now, when I blow my whistle, you kick off from the ground, hard. Keep your brooms steady, rise a few feet and then came straight back down by leaning forward slightly. On my whistle." Madam Hooch explained. Suddenly, Longbottom's broom was acting up.
"Mr. Longbottom! Mr. Longbottom!" Madam Hooch reached for her wand but Longbottom already hit the Castle's wall.
Ouch! I winced. She told us to stay on the ground or we will get expelled if she saw one of the broom on the sky. Madam Hooch took Longbottom to Hospital wings.
"Did you guys see his face? What a loser!" Malfoy said, holding Longbottom' remembrall.
"Give it back, Malfoy! Harry said. Malfoy and Harry stared at each other.
"No." Malfoy stated and mount his broom up to the sky.
"What's the matter, Potter? Afraid?" Malfoy taunted Harry. Harry mount his broom and flew towards Malfoy. Granger tried to stop it but it's useless. What an idiot! I also mount the broom and stay besides Harry.
"Give it here, Malfoy! You do know that Professor Snape will kill us if he know about it." I said to Malfoy who turn paled.
"Then, try to catch it!" Malfoy threw it away and Harry tried to catch it. He succeed catching the remembrall and threw it at me. I caught and flew down.
Other Gryffindor cheered for Harry.
"Seriously, Potter? If professor knew about it.." I did not managed to finished my sentence before hearing Professor McGonagall's voice.
"Harry Potter! Ethan Kingcrown!" Professor McGonagall shouted, strode towards us. Oh, shit! Snape will kill me.
"Come with me!" Professor McGonagall ordered firmly. Others tried to talked to her but she silence them with stern look. Before Harry and I followed her, I saw that Zabini and Nott looked pity at me. Hey! Must you guys show that expression. I thought.
