I sat next to the door after entering the home of my "rescuers" which wasn't my favorite experience. The last time I could recall being in a building was far from forgotten, but far too long ago. The mother went into a side room which I immediately recognized as a kitchen. "I can't believe I have a Ninetales!" the boy jumped up and down, eyes locked on me, the sheer excitement in his eyes couldn't help but make me smile. Though his choice of words didn't make me excited. "Remember dear, only for a week." the mother chimed in.
"I know mom…" the child's eyes were on the ground, knowing I truly wasn't his Pokemon. "Ninetales, can you come into the kitchen?" like a little Growlithe I obliged with the human's request. On the floor were two dishes, both were roughly the same size, one being rather bland and the other having a little floral pattern on it. I know they probably didn't want to use their nice bowls to feed and water me. The mother told me which bowl was which, and that the water bowl should always have water in it.
"As for your food, you'll eat twice a day, but if that isn't enough for you, let me know okay?" I nodded. The mother knelt down and started petting me. "I'm more surprised that I'll be getting food." I communicated, before licking her cheek. Just like the man on the street, she was taken back by my use of telepathy. "Before you ask me, I am using telepathy. I owe you for keeping that trainer from capturing me."
I rubbed up against the woman. "So now I have to make sure I don't go insane from hearing you talk to me in english?" she asked. "Yes you do." I chuckled. "Mom?" the child walked into the kitchen. "Yes Nate?"
"I heard a voice," Nate said. "That may have been me," I said. I trotted up to the child and wrapped him up with my tails.
"If it weren't for you two, I'd more than likely had to fight off that trainer, and potentially end up fighting for him for a lifetime."
Nate started growing a big grin when he realised that I can communicate to him. "I didn't know you could talk," he said. I let him loose from my tails. "Yes, yes I can talk." The child pulled me into a grip stronger like a vice. "Mind if you told me your name?" I turned to Nate's Mom. "You can just call me Daisy," she answered. "Well Daisy, thank you for letting me stay for a week." I gasped for air. What on earth is with this child? Years upon years of taking hits as a Vulpix and a human child of all things would make me faint?
"Nate, you should let go of Ninetales, you might strangle her." immediately I was freed. "Sorry Ninetales," the child said. "You don't need to apologize. Just let me know next time before you knock me out." I regained my balance from being in a child's arms for a minute. Daisy looked at a clock before taking a deep breath. "Alright you two, it's still only noon. Let's try and find something to do other than sitting around." Nate nodded and ran to the door.
"Did I interrupt anything by almost running your kid over?" I asked. "No, we were just heading to the park." I nodded and followed the two humans out the door.
The walk wasn't even all too long, just around a couple of corners. Now that I wasn't being chased, I could see various signs for restaurants, hotels, and various other buildings. The smell of salt and food meshed together nicely. It felt like I was dreaming, and I hope I didn't wake up from it.
I followed Nate and his mother through a gate, there were plenty of people and Pokemon running around. This is what a park was? I could see children going down playground equipment, playing with their Pokemon.
Most of the playground equipment was just slides, swings, and some monkey bars. It wasn't anything to extravagant, it was just a park, but nobody seemed to mind. The equipment looked like it wouldn't fall apart immediately, and that was probably enough for the children running up and down them.
A decent amount of the Fire Type Pokemon I could see stopped to take a glance at me, and keep running along. Most were likely surprised at how dirty I looked for a Ninetales, or were thinking of trying to court me. I didn't like the attention I was getting from them, but I didn't hate it either.
Nate ran towards a group of children while Daisy chatted with some of the other parents on a bench. I didn't know what to do with myself, I didn't want to play with any of the Pokemon, and I didn't want to play with any of the humans. Well, except for maybe Nate, but that was it. I just sat by Daisy's feet and locked onto Nate. "Now isn't this my lucky day?" I look up and see a Flareon with a big grin.
