Chapter 21

Detention

My destination this morning were Gryffindor table. I sat besides Harry while Longbottom were sitting in front of us at breakfast. I hate my life! I internally screamed.

"Do you think we will survive Professor Snape detention?" Longbottom asked anxiously. I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Why? Afraid that he will chop us?" I smirked at him.

"Wh..what? Of course not! Ok, I'm afraid! I heard from senior that he is quite cruel with punishment." Longbottom stuttered. I laughed and told him that he should not worried about something like that.

"But, you cannot be deny that he's scary." Harry said while sipping his pumpkin juice. You guys may be lucky than me. I might get spanked by him. I thought.

"Let's just eat for now." I said, hoping no one will bring it up. We continues eating in silence. After breakfast, I went separated way from them at corridor because right now I have Charm class while they have Transfiguration class.

"Hey, do you heard that Potter and his friend get detention?" Zabini asked me when I sat besides him in class. I flinched at his question. Zabini seems interest with my reaction. I sighed and told him about it.

"Seriously? Why did you..are you crazy?" Zabini struggled to find his words.

"Hey, it's not like I want it happened." I glared at him. Nott who sitting in front of us, just smirked at me and told me that I should no better not to get caught by Professor Snape. I huffed at him. I want to say something but it was interrupted by Professor Flitwick arrival.

At dinner, I got a letter from Professor Snape to meet him at his quarters. Zabini and Nott just looked at me with sympathy.

"I should go." I said, already getting up from my seat. They told me to eat first but I decline and said that I lose my appetite.

I went to Professor Snape quarters and knocked twice before getting an answer. He told me to sit on the couch. A few minutes later, he join me.

"Why we must have the same conversation, Ethan?" Professor Snape said, looking directly at my eyes.

"I..sorry. It.." I struggle to find an answered for his question. He sighed and told me to explained in details regarding yesterday. I told him honestly about what happened. He listened without interruping me. I wish that I will be able to know what he was thinking.

"Do you hate me?" I blurted out the words before I able to stop it and averted my eyes.

"No. What is it all about?" Professor Snape asked me, quite perplexed.

"You doesn't seems angry at all. Just seems tired with me." I said, trying to hide my sadness. I startled when he grabbed my chin and make me face him.

"Listen carefully, Ethan. No matter how angry I am at you, I will never hate you. You're my family. Understand?" I detected fondness in his voice. I smiled and nodded.

"You also will serve detention same as them." Professor Snape said and ruffles my hair.

"Hey!" I protested and smiled when hearing his laughed.

At 8:30 p.m, all of us went to Potion classroom to serve our detention.

"Oh My God! I'm so nervous!" Granger said anxiously. Longbottom and Weasley seems vey paled compared to Harry.

"Relax would you? I don't think he will torture us with curses." I teased at them.

"Oh, shut up! Of course he will favour a snake!" Weasley glared at me.

"Really Weasley? A snake? You cannot say something better?" I mocked at him.

"Shut up both of you!" Granger raised her voice.

"Silence!" We jumped, hearing Professor Snape's voice. He ordered us to enter.

"Mr Weasley and Longbottom! Both of you will clean the cauldrons and flasks at the sink. Miss Granger and Mr Potter, you will chopped the worms and frogs on that table. Mr Kingcrown, you will catalogue all the ingredients at that cabinets." Professor Snape stated.

"What? Thats unfair! Why does.." Granger quickly stomp Weasley feet. I smirked when Weasley shouted 'Ouch'.

"10 points from Gryffindor for talking back to teacher." Professor Snape hissed angrily. He barked at us to move.

I sighed when seeing all the things inside the cabinet. I saw from the corner of my eyes that Weasley keep mumbling and complaining about 'greasy git'.

"5 points from Gryffindor!" Of course Professor Snape will hear what Weasley said. He has a good hearing. I inwardly laughed seeing Weasley trying to protest but Longbottom dragged him towards the sink.

After two hours, Professor Snape dismissed us. Weasley keep complaining on our way while Granger being bossy and told us that it was our own fault that all of us were in this mess. Longbottom, Harry and I decided to stay quiet. I wished them goodnight before turning left to dungeon.
