Daisy continued rubbing my head after my answer. "Well, a deal is a deal. We'll go to the park now." she said. The woman didn't even seem angry at my answer, which was a good sign, but Nate didn't look too excited about my choice.
Not that I would blame Nate, he was probably excited after finding out that I packed a lot more of a punch than he'd expected, but I simply didn't want to battle anymore. Even if I could find some fun in battling, it didn't feel right torching somebody alive for little gain. If I do fight. I want it to be a last resort.
After we had walked out of the school building it felt quiet compared to when we arrived at the school. "Hey Daisy?" I walked in front of her. "Is something on your mind Ninetales?" she asked. "Are you mad at me for choosing to not keep battling with Nate for today?" my ears flattened. Why was I worried about upsetting this lady? It wasn't like she was my trainer or anything, it hasn't even been 24 hours since I've met her, but here I am thinking I disappointed her.
"Ninetales, you told me about your past experiences with battling, your old trainer. Or did you forget last night?" Daisy placed a hand on her hips. "Well I-"
"I made a deal with you, just one battle, see if your opinion on them had changed, and if you still didn't like them, then I won't make you battle for Nate." The mother ruffled the fur on my head. "Now don't worry about it, I'm just surprised that you actually gave it a chance," she said. Daisy took a step around me and kept on walking.
"Can I ask you one more thing, Daisy?" I caught up to the side of her. "Of course you can." she didn't stop walking, this time. "Can you give me a bath?" a sheepish look came to my face. A wild Pokemon, wanting a bath? Daisy gave me a confused look in return to my question. "I thought you knew how to groom yourself, but you didn't care about how you looked," she said.
"Well… funny that you think that, but I don't know how to groom myself," I said. I must've sounded like a Vulpix, freshly hatched, after rolling in mud. "How does a Ninetales not know how to groom herself?" Daisy asked. I bared my puppy eyes and whined. "Well, I won't mind giving you a bath, I'm just surprised you asked for one."
"Every human in this city that saw me said I looked messy. Even wild a Ninetales cares about her appearance, you know," I said. We stopped outside of the fence to Daisy and Nate's house. "Well, we can go to the park first, then I can give you a bath tonight. It's up to you." I walked towards the front door. Daisy sighed. "You better not roll in the mud at the park right after I give you a bath."
"Wait here," the human ordered. I was left inside a small bathroom, a simple sink with two toothbrushes in a cup. A pack of toothpaste was set on the edge of the sink, neatly off to the side. The toilet was… a toilet, not much else to say about it. There was a roll of toilet paper next to it, a mirror above it, which acted like a door for a cover. Without much thought, I hopped into the bathtub, which very easily could fit an arcanine in. Despite how big the bathtub was, my tails draped over the side, which annoyed me.
Daisy walked back in, wearing an apron, rubber gloves, and goggles. She placed her watch on the sink as her eyes made their way to me. "You didn't have to jump in the bathtub, you could've waited a bit so you wouldn't get blasted with cold water." She said, shaking her head. "I'll be fine with cold water, but I just didn't want to be in the way when you returned." Daisy shook her head.
The faucet squeaked when it was turned and water started pouring into the shower head, immediately soaking me. Luckily for me, it was already hot water, so it wasn't nearly as shocking as cold water. "I don't have any shampoo for Pokemon, so I'm going to just make do with this." Daisy opened a bottle of shampoo, which I assumed was for humans, squirted some out, and started working it into my fur. She needed several handfuls to get enough for my thick coat.
After my body was covered in spuds, I noticed how the woman didn't even come close to touching my tails, and I probably knew why. "Can I touch your tails to get shampoo in them?" she asked. "Of course you can, just don't pull on them," I answered.
After shampoo was carefully put into my tails, Daisy started rinsing me out, and I was soaking wet. Daisy wrapped a towel around my body. "Leave your tails hanging over the bathtub while I dry you-" she stopped when she saw steam emitting from my body. "I didn't know you were a water type," she joked. After all the water had evaporated, it was like I had been hit with a hair dryer for hours. "So, do you want me to brush you, your majesty?" Daisy said.
"Well, that would be nice, my servant," I said with a grin. The two of us couldn't keep ourselves from laughing.
I patiently laid in the woman's lap as a brush ran through every inch of fur on my body, carefully running through every strand, picking up dead fur, and detangling what was there. Daisy ran the brush carefully through one of my tails. "Hey! I didn't give you permission to touch that!" I giggled. The lady smiled. "Whoops, sorry boss, but a good boss should've given better orders!" She continued brushing every single tail, carefully and gently.
There was nearly enough fur to make a second Ninetales after I was done being brushed. Instead of getting out of Daisy's lap to let her clean, I remained still, while the woman ran her hands through my fur. "And now we've got a pretty girl in the room," she said proudly.
I was lying on the couch when the front door opened up. "We're home!" Daisy announced, Nate was holding her hand. A huge smile came to his face when he saw me, all groomed and clean. "Whoa! What happened to you?" Daisy just smiled as her child started to scratch my jaw bone. "Well, Ninetales wanted to be groomed, so I gave her a bath. Surprisingly, she did better than some trained Pokemon I've groomed in the past."
"She's really pretty now!" Nate said. I blushed a bit at that comment. "So Nate, how did your battles go after I had left?" I asked. "They went okay. I lost a couple of battles and I won a few with a Pokemon the school lent me, but I had fun!" He said quickly, before going back admiring how soft my fur was now.
"Great, now he won't let go of me this time!" I joked as Nate pulled me into another vice grip.
