I definitely CAN'T WAIT for Elliot to hear about Olivia and Tucker. I just know his reaction would be priceless. Hopefully we get to see Elliot hear about some of Olivia's past (but failed) romantic relationships. But for now, here's my take. Let me know what you guys think in the reviews!
"So, Fin tells me this guy Barba was your old ADA. Said you guys were pretty close. That he was a good guy. What's he doing defending scum like Wheatley?"
"Barba's one of my closest friends. He was there for me through some pretty rough stuff. I don't know what Wheatley's game is or what angle he's trying to play by pulling him into this. He's just trying to get under our skin."
"Is it working?" Elliot asked inquisitively.
"It worries me. But, Carisi is good. He can hold his own."
"Yeah, he seems solid. Except when he's too busy making puppy eyes at your blonde detective—what's her name again?"
Olivia chuckled, "Rollins, Amanda Rollins. Did Fin fill you in on that too?"
"Didn't need him to. Pretty obvious anytime she walked into a room. Poor kid. He's got it bad. Yeah, Rollins. She doesn't seem too fond of me."
"That's Rollins for you. She's very protective. She doesn't take well to new people. With the Wheatley case, knowing how he targets anyone who gets in his way, she's probably just concerned about Carisi."
"And they used to be partners? Carisi was one of your detectives before, right?"
"Yep. So, what else has Fin been telling you?"
"You know, catching me up on the squad over the years. Don't worry, he wouldn't say much about you. He's still got your back like always."
"Oh, is that so?"
"Yeah, he stayed pretty tight lipped. Told me you had a kid. Noah. And just that you had two relationships. One was serious."
"Mhmmmm," Olivia mused as she brought the beer bottle to her lips.
"C'mon are you really gonna make me beg? Make me guess?"
"Ha! You wouldn't get it right in a million years."
"Well, it doesn't take a behavioral expert to say Cassidy is probably one of them. With the way he was acting that night at the bar."
"Well, one out of two isn't bad, Detective Stabler. But your streak ends there," Olivia countered. Eager to steer the conversation away from the night at the bar when Brian almost revealed her encounters with Lewis.
"Okay, fine. I give up. Who's the guy, the "serious one". Because it sure as hell isn't Cassidy."
Olivia raised her eyebrow at him. Waited for him to take a nice long sip of his beer and then—
"It was Tucker. From IAB."
Olivia watched as Elliot's eyes nearly popped out of his head. He choked on his beer a little, foam spilling from the side of his mouth. His head turning red and he coughed to catch his breath. Olivia couldn't help but laugh a little.
"That was kind of satisfying to watch," she joked.
"Jesus Christ, Liv. Are you trying to kill me?"
"Relax, Elliot. Don't give yourself a heart attack," Olivia responded, rolling her eyes.
"Tucker!? Ringleader of the rat—I mean—he arrested you! For murder! He tried to ruin our careers."
The words were sputtering out of Elliot's mouth as his hands fumbled to wipe off the spilt beer on his shirt. She could tell he was trying to calm himself down, keep himself from really shouting.
"That was a long time ago. Ed was different. Honestly, back then, I think we were all trying to fight the "good fight", we just went about it in different ways."
"Yeah, well I highly doubt that smug son of a—"
"He's dead, El. He killed himself. Brain cancer. Didn't want to make the people around him suffer."
"Shit, Liv. I'm sorry. I didn't know. That's, that's awful."
Elliot could hear the pain in her voice and his hand instinctively reached across the table to take hers. He was surprised when she didn't pull away.
"Yeah, there's a lot you don't know," Olivia muttered.
They sat there like that for a moment. The "10 years of silence and resentment" elephant in the room had finally made its presence known.
"I know. That's why I'm trying to catch up. I wanna know about you. About the people who are important to you. I wanna know your life again. And maybe be a part of if too if you'll let me."
"Well, there is another guy whose been the most important in my life. His name is Noah. You saw him at the park. He's 9. And he's the most amazing kid ever. I don't know how I got so lucky. Getting to be his mom, it really saved me," Olivia said smiling.
"He's a lucky kid having you as a mom, Liv. And umm, his father? Is he in the picture?" Elliot asked hesitantly.
"Noah's adopted so no. Both his birth parents are deceased."
"Oh, okay."
"Don't look so relieved, El," Olivia joked.
