Hello there, people of the internet, I am DxDBourne!

What's this!? a chapter less than a month after the previous one? Is the world ending? Well no, but actually yes.

Jokes aside, this lockdown has done wonders for this story and I've made more progress in the last month than I had in the entire second half of 2019. So to celebrate; here's a nice long 5k word chapter about Kirito in the land of Oz. (P.S none of the SAO books explain what happens during the quest so my crazy ass went ahead and wrote an entire quest from scratch)

I DO NOT own Sword Art Online or any of its original characters.

Kirito did not remember this quest being so hectic. If he recalled, it was simply the storyline of the movie with small RPG elements but with a relatively untouched story. But this? This was a full-blown RPG.

When they finally got Toto to lead them into the house, Kirito felt a bare second of happiness being in his home, before it was lifted into the air and started spinning like a Beyblade. Kirito wasn't affected too much but Lisbeth and Silica screamed to their hearts content. He told them to close their eyes to avoid dizziness but he still had to comfort the terrified Silica.

Eventually the house landed beyond the mountains where they met Dorothy wearing her red slippers, the Scarecrow with no brain, the Tin Man with no heart, and the Lion with no courage. After some dialogue that was left to Kirito considering the familiarity with the quest, they joined the group and went to see the wizard in the Emerald City in hopes of finding a way back home.

On the way there, they encountered many minor enemies including Vicious Wasps, Wandering Ghouls, and also some Earth Hounds similar to the ones that he and Toran fought back on the first floor. Kirito noted those to be a new addition and hoped that nothing else would be too different so that they could blaze through the quest pretty quickly. Dorothy and her ragtag group obviously were no help considering they hadn't found their stuff yet. Toto though would bark at the enemies and sometimes stun them momentarily which was rather helpful.

They also encountered a mini-boss called the Wamping Willow which was a little easter egg to another fantasy movie series, though they killed it pretty quickly due to their levels. Eventually, they reached the Emerald City. Kirito, Lisbeth and Silica had to warn the Dorothy gang not to walk on the roses as they would enter a deep sleep for a very long time. Dorothy was very excited to see the wizard so that she could go home, though she also did not want to leave without helping her friends find their lost items. Kirito silently laughed cause he knew it wouldn't be that easy.

Eventually, they made it inside the Emerald City and as they entered the wizards throne room, they were suddenly ambushed by many of these things called Emerald Golems which were like big sentient human-like monsters made of solid emerald. This fight was actually slightly difficult as, even though their attacks didn't do much damage, they had insane health and there were many of them. They had been at it for a while and Kirito had just landed the final blow on the last Golem.

"Okay, I do not remember there being golems in here. Why is this quest so different," Kirito complained out loud.

"W-what do you mean by different? Have you been to the Emerald City before?" Dorothy asked him, causing Kirito to realize his mistake. There was a rule during this quest in the original game where if the Oz characters were made too aware of Aincrads existence, the quest would fail and the log cabin would remain locked.

"Ah, don't worry about him. I think I saw him take knock on the head from one of those green things before," Lisbeth persuaded as she pat Kirito on the back intentionally hard.

"Either way, those things were utterly terrifying" Silica said as she heaved a sigh of relief.

"I know, I could barely keep myself from crying! I never want to see those things again," The Lion cried as he continued cowering behind the Tin Man despite the fight being over.

"I have no idea what those things are or where they came from. Then again, I don't know anything really," The scarecrow said as he attempted to think but failed.

"It looked like they didn't have hearts either, much like myself. Maybe they were trying to steal your red slippers Miss Dorothy," The Tin Man suggested, causing Dorothy to jump.

"Gosh, that wouldn't be good at all," She exclaimed. At that moment, a voice boomed throughout the emerald throne room.

"WHO DARES SEEK THE GUIDANCE OF THE ALL-POWERFUL WIZARD OF OZ!?" The voice boomed. The Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion all jumped back in fright but Dorothy faced it head-on.

"I seek your guidance, oh wonderful wizard," She replied to the voice. Suddenly on a big green mirror-like piece of glass on the wall above the empty throne, a misty green face appeared.

"Who are you and what is it you seek from me?" The face asked. Kirito, Lisbeth, and Silica stayed back with the scared trio while Dorothy spoke to the face.

"My name is Dorothy and me and my friends have come in hopes that you could help us," She answered. Kirito could tell in her voice that she was nervous but swept that aside to be strong for her friends.

"What kind of help do you seek?" The face questioned yet again.

"The Scarecrow wishes to have a brain, the Tin Man wishes to have a heart, the Lion wishes to find his courage and Me, Kirito, Lisbeth and Silica wish to return home," She admitted to the Face. "I was told from a great fairy that you could help us with all these problems so please," She bowed as she said that last bit. The green misty face thought in silence for a moment until speaking again.

"I can help you with these problems, but not as I am now. In order for me to solve these problems for you, you will need to bring me certain items," The face revealed. "To give the Scarecrow a brain, you must bring me a brain. To give the Tin Man a heart, you must bring me a heart. To give the Lion his courage, you must bring me the Wicked Witch of the West's Hat. Then finally, to return the rest of you home, you must bring me the Wicked Witch of the West's broomstick. Bring me these things, and your wishes shall be granted. The face said as it started to vanish.

"But wait, can you at least tell us where to find these items," Dorothy asked hurriedly.

"At the Wicked Witch of the West's castle, which is, well, west obviously," The face said as it vanished completely. There was a long silence where the six others stared at Dorothy, waiting for her to say something but she didn't.

"Uh, Miss Dorothy, are you okay?" The Tin Man asked with worry.

"I was hoping to be able to go home after we met with the wizard," She said quietly before whisking herself around to reveal a smile. "But oh well, if that's what the wonderful wizard needs then that's what we're going to do, right everyone?"

"Of course, Miss Dorothy, we'll be with you every step of the way," the Scarecrow admitted happily. To which both the Tin Man and Lion agreed.

"You never fail to impress me Dorothy, you were quite brave there talking to the wizard," Lisbeth said with a praising chuckle.

"Yeah, I couldn't help but admire you," Silica agreed with a timid laugh of her own.

"Thanks everyone, that means a lot to me," Dorothy happily replied. "Will you be leading the way again, Mr Kirito?"

"You bet," Kirito said as he shot Dorothy a thumbs up. "Let's head to the Wicked Witch of the West's castle," They all cried out in unison and confidently set out back down the rose walkway. As they walked, Kirito and Dorothy noticed that they were being followed by black crows. They never attacked but it was as if they knew where the group was headed.

As they walked, Lisbeth and Silica constantly talked to the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion about what they'll do once they get their lost items. While up the front, Dorothy was talking to Kirito about how he knew so much about Oz and how much she appreciated his and the other two's protection.

"Say, Mr Kirito, what brought you to Oz in the first place?" Dorothy asked him. He took a moment to think about an answer he could say that would sound real.

"Funnily enough, I actually live in Kansas as well. Much further down south though, almost right next to the border of Oklahoma. I was driving a farm tractor for my parents when a tornado hit and it brought me here," He replied.

"Interesting. I wouldn't have thought that you live in Kansas too, though I live much closer to the center so we're pretty far apart. How long were you in Oz before you and your friends met us?" She asked curiously.

"Not too long, maybe a week or two," He replied, secretly hoping that they would be attacked again so he didn't have to keep thinking of lies to tell Dorothy.

"Um, if you don't mind me asking, how come you know so much about Oz despite not being here very long," It took him a bit longer to think of an acceptable answer for this one but he managed before it got awkward.

"We were visited by a pure white witch who told us all about Oz and about how we would need to find the wizard to get back home," Almost as soon as he finished that reply, a couple of Petrified Gargoyles rose from the ground and attacked them. "Get behind me," Kirito shouted as he summoned his Elucidator, knowing that he wouldn't have any need for dual blading during this quest.

The first of the three gargoyles charged at him with its claw and swung at his face. He side-stepped the swipe to the left and stabbed the gargoyle right through its center. He then transitioned to a spinning slash that caught the second gargoyle which cut it clean in half. After seeing its buddies die, the third one threw a small bomb at Kirito. He couldn't slice the bomb or it would explode in his face so instead, he hit it back to the gargoyle with the flat side of the blade like a baseball bat and it exploded in the gargoyles face, killing it instantly. Kirito sheathed his sword like he always does and told everyone to follow him. As they followed, Lisbeth whispered in Dorothy's ear.

"Doesn't he just love to show off," She joked with a laugh.

"Maybe a little bit, but rightfully so. He's very impressive with that weapon of his," Dorothy admitted, causing Lisbeth to be a bit confused and maybe just a little bit jealous.

"Get in line girl! With Asuna out of the picture, I've got next dibs," She thought to herself. As they spoke, four more gargoyles showed up and surrounded Kirito.

As they chanted before their attacks, Kirito's blade started glowing a bright cyan. As soon as the gargoyles made a move, Kirito unleashed the sword skill Horizontal Square. He swung his sword horizontally from right to left, slicing the targeted gargoyle side to side, then switched his momentum back to swing the sword left to right. The force of this swing was much greater and sent his body into a swing which he used to connect another deadlier swing from left to right.

Lastly, he used a forearm strike from the right to finally cleave the targeted gargoyle into pieces. Then, as a result of the sword skill, a square of piercing light flew out in each direction, killing all the other surrounding gargoyles. Thinking they were all dead, Kirito sheathed his sword once again. However, a fifth gargoyle suddenly appeared behind him and attempted to claw at his back.

"Watch out Kirito!" Silica shouted as she pulled out one of her throwing knives and unleashed a dagger skill known as Piercing Throw which had the dagger glow a very light yellow and, if thrown, would make the dagger act as a spear and penetrate the target with intense force. Silica threw her dagger and it shot past everyone in the blink of an eye. The dagger pierced right through the gargoyle and caused it to crash to the ground and die quickly after.

"Thanks for the save, Silica," Kirito thanked her with a smile, causing her to blush and mumble inaudible words. It was a pretty repetitive process after that, the closer they got to the witch's castle, the more frequently they were attacked by Cursed Gargoyles and sometimes even Haunted Skeletons. Eventually, as they got within view of the castle, they reached a crossroads with three paths. The middle path had a gate with a note on it that read as follows...

Ahead is the Castle of the Wicked Witch of the West.

To the Left is the Field of Brains

To the Right is the Forest of Hearts.

The group read it through and went on from there.

"Field of Brains, huh? That must be where we need to go to get my brain," the Scarecrow suggested.

"And to get my heart, we must go the other way," the Tin Man deduced.

"Which means that forward is where we'll find the witch and her hat so I can get my courage, as well as the broomstick," the Lion pointed out.

"Well then what shall we do? We can't do all three at once," Dorothy admitted sadly.

"We'll split up then," Kirito announced causing everyone to look at him. "The quicker we do this, the quicker we can go to the witch's castle. So Me, Lisbeth, and the Tin Man will go to the Forest of Hearts. Silica, can you take the Scarecrow, Lion, and Dorothy to the Field of Brains? " He asked the small timid girl, though her reaction was anything but that.

"Yes sir! They're safe with me," Silica said proudly with a salute. While this happened, Lisbeth silently celebrated at the idea of being (almost) alone with Kirito for once.

"I hope you don't mind me saying but I wouldn't wish to part with Miss Dorothy, Mr Kirito," the Tin Man suddenly said.

"I would go with you Tin Man, but I must go with the Lion to help with his courage," Dorothy apologized until the Lion suddenly put his hand on her shoulder.

"I-It's okay Miss Dorothy, I-I am not scared to go without you. Plus, we have strong little Miss Silica to help us so I will be f-fine," the Lion stuttered. He was clearly afraid but put on a brave face in front of Dorothy.

"That is very brave of you, Mr Lion," Dorothy said, causing the Lion to get a little embarrassed. "Then I shall go with Mr Kirito's group,"

"The paths aren't too long, we should be meeting back here in no time," Kirito reassured as his group departed down the right path towards the Forest of Hearts. It was a rather long walk before they ran into anything at all and when they finally did, it was just a big hole with no bottom in sight. There was no going around the hole either as there were big cliffs on either side.

"Well that's not good. How are we suppose to get across this gap?" the Tin Man asked.

"I have no idea. Mr. Kirito, do you or Miss Lisbeth have any ideas?" Dorothy asked them. Kirito studied the gap for a moment before going forward. The hole may have been bottomless but it wasn't too wide, only about ten meters in length. He and Lisbeth would probably have been able to just jump the gap with a simple run up but getting Dorothy and the Tin Man over was the issue. If Sinon had been there they might've been able to tie a rope to an arrow and have her shoot it to the other side but obviously, she wasn't. Despite that though, Kirito eventually had an idea.

"Ok, hear me out," Kirito started. Dorothy and the Tin Man listened ever so closely while Lisbeth just hung back and watched. "I have a rope in my, uh, pocket. What I think we can do is if I jump over to the other side and throw the other end of the rope back, we could probably find a place to tie the rope on both ends so you can climb across, is that okay with everyone?" He asked as he removed the rope from his inventory behind his back so that no one saw it appear out of nowhere.

"That's an awful long way to jump, how are you going to make it?" Dorothy asked with worry.

"A good run-up should get me over there in one piece, watch and learn," Kirito showboated as he walked a few meters back before pushing off the ground with intense force. The speed he managed to gain in the short distance before the edge of the hole was almost abnormal as he leaped with all his might. He flew over the hole rather majestically and landed with a commando roll. He then turned and threw one end of the rope back to the other side, which Lisbeth caught and they both tied the ends of the rope around nearby sturdy objects.

Once Kirito had weight tested it, the others made their way across with ease. Kirito decided to leave the rope there for the return journey and they continued on down the path, which had now entered a sort of cave-like formation. As they walked, the Tin Man suddenly made a loud clanging noise. Kirito and Lisbeth looked back to see the Tin Man's foot had fallen off his leg and he had fallen over.

"Mr. Tin Man! Are you okay?" Dorothy cried as she ran to his aid.

"Fear not Miss Dorothy, I will be fine. However, we must re-attach my foot before we can continue," the Tin Man admitted. Kirito thought for a moment about how to proceed with the current situation. But before he could reach an answer, Dorothy suddenly suggested something.

"I have some glue and some string with me. If you don't mind, I could re-attach your foot for you," Dorothy suggested as she pulled said glue and string out of seemingly nowhere. "Mr Kirito, if you and Miss Lisbeth want to continue, me and Mr Tin Man can catch up once we're finished," The suggestion was a surprise but a welcome one as Kirito took her up on the offer.

"Okay then, we'll keep going and you just catch up when your done," Kirito said as he and Lisbeth, now alone, continued into the cave-like formation. They walked a fair while and every so often, the path would get smaller. Not small enough to squish them but you probably wouldn't have been able to fit any more than four people side by side. As they walked, they started on a bit of small talk.

"Y'know something, I don't think we've ever done something with just the two of us since that quest in the original game where we got stuck in the dragons nest," Lisbeth laughed as she recalled her most precious memory.

"I'm still not sure why you insisted on coming with me on that, I probably could've done it myself," Kirito admitted. Lisbeth came ever so close to having a good growl at him for that but he continued before she could. "That said though, I really enjoyed doing that quest with you, and this one as well. Maybe we should start doing more quests together," After he said that, Lisbeth froze. It was probably the most romantic thing he had ever said to her and it caught her heart by surprise. So much so that she completely forgot to even react or reply. "You okay?" were the words that snapped her out of her daze.

"Huh! What!?" She frantically looked around to find she was still looking at Kirito who seemed somewhat concerned.

"You just kinda froze for a second, I was wondering if something happened to you," Kirito said with a relieved sigh.

"N-No, I'm fine. I'm just…not used to things like that," Lisbeth said quietly as she blushed.

"Things like what?" Kirito asked obliviously.

"Nothing, don't worry about it. Now let's see where to next," Lisbeth said quickly as she rushed off ahead.

"Damn it, I probably hurt her again, didn't I," Kirito said aloud to himself as he started after Lisbeth. "I'm so sick of doing that to them," Meanwhile, up ahead, Lisbeth was berating herself as well.

"Damn it Liz, just be honest with yourself!" She growled in her thoughts. "It's really not that hard. But then again, it would also be easier if he wasn't so darn dense," She was so busy thinking to herself that she didn't notice the big blue forcefield in front of her and she walked right into it with a thud. "Ow!" She shouted. Causing Kirito to quickly catch back up.

"You alright?" He asked. "What in the world is this?"

"Firstly, yes I'm fine," Lisbeth answered sarcastically. "Second, I have no idea. Some sort of forcefield stopping us from continuing," Kirito walked up to the blue forcefield and squinted his eyes to try and see-through. After his eyes adjusted, he could see the floating heart they were trying to find.

"Well the heart's right there, we just need to find a way through this thing," Kirito as he studied the forcefield from side to side. Lisbeth meanwhile took a look at the heart they were looking for on the other side. It obviously didn't look like an actual human heart, rather, it looked like those simple ones you saw in cartoons all the time. As the two of them gazed around the room, a glowing blue bat flew down and landed on one of the roots next to the forcefield. They didn't pay it much mind though, at least, not until it suddenly started speaking.

"So you wish to get through my force barrier, eh?" The bat said, causing Lisbeth to jump.

"Woah, you're a talking bat!" Lisbeth exclaimed from her sitting position very near where the bat landed.

"Those are some mighty fine observation skills you have there, young lady," The bat chuckled sarcastically, causing Lisbeth to pout. "Anyway, you want to get through this barrier, right?"

"Yeah, we need to get that heart on the other side," Kirito answered. The bat let out a small chuckle before saying any more.

"Well, if you want the heart, you need to prove that you have a heart of your own," The bat revealed.

"What do you mean?" Lisbeth asked the bat as it hovered onto a slightly higher extending root.

"Answer me this, what is the true purpose of a heart?" The bat asked. Kirito and Lisbeth took a moment to think.

"To…flourish?" Kirito replied awkwardly. "Not that I even know what that means, it just came to mind," The bat just shook its head in reply.

"Oh, I know," Lisbeth called out as she subconsciously raised her hand. "the true purpose of a heart, is to love,"

"Exactly! That is the hearts true purpose," The bat flapped its shiny blue wings in agreement. "So, in order to prove that you have a heart of your own, you must show me an act of love. Do that, and I shall let you have the heart," The bat revealed. Lisbeth didn't really know how to react to the sudden revelation. She kinda stuttered and blushed but she didn't really have any words. She and Kirito were the only two there so there might be some trouble doing this. She thought that maybe it would've been better for Asuna to do this quest with him rather than her if stuff like this was going to happen.

"An act of love, huh?" Kirito said quietly as he stared at the ground, seemingly lost in thought for a moment. Lisbeth turned to look at him as an unwarranted sadness started to fill her.

"I bet you wish Asuna was here right now," She said, barely managing to maintain a hold on her emotions. There was a slight moment of silence before the unthinkable happened.

"Liz, do you…still…love me?" Kirito asked. It was a question she never thought she would hear. Not in a million years. She had spent the last almost two years slowly realizing that Kirito's only true love was Asuna. In fact, she almost kind of hated the guy for just suddenly saying something like that after that long. After all this time, the teasing and jokes and pretend advancements were almost only out of habit. But despite trying desperately to find a reason to say otherwise, she had to be true to her heart. She had never lost those feelings, they were only locked away. But with that one simple question, that lock had been smashed right open.

"Yes…I do," She barely managed to say while desperately trying to hold back tears.

"It's just that…well…recently, I've started to realize something. I'm not really sure what brought it on but, I've started to realize that I've spent so much time focusing on Asuna that I've been neglecting everyone else's feelings. Your's, Silica's, Sugu's, Argo's. Even Sinon's, though she's found someone else now," Lisbeth's emotional strength was starting to fade. The words coming out of Kirito's mouth should've been impossible. Surely this is a dream. Surely she'll wake up soon and Kirito will be all over Asuna again and not be giving her feelings the time of day, just like it should be.

Except, it shouldn't. It shouldn't be like that. Before she had even realized it, Kirito had walked up to her and put hands on her shoulders. "If there has ever been a good time for me to realize this, now is the best. So if you'll allow it, I want to start acknowledging these feelings of yours and giving you the love you deserve in return. So if I may, will you-" Then it happened. Lisbeth grabbed him by the cheeks, pulled him in as close as she could, and kissed him. She couldn't take it anymore. She didn't need to hear any more. She only did what her heart told her to do, and the result was as if she had died and gone to heaven.

But best of all, after a momentary pause, Kirito hugged her back and reciprocated the kiss. It wasn't a short kiss either. It was long, deep, and got more and more passionate as it continued. This was the greatest day of her life. She felt pure, unadulterated, euphoria. Nothing else in the world mattered. She forgot all about Asuna, about the quest, about Aincrad, about everything. The only thing that existed at this moment was her, and the love of her life.

"I love you, Kirito. I love you so much," She said as tears of happiness flowed down her face. In fact, she didn't even let Kirito say something himself before she pursed her lips back upon his. Their kiss continued for just a little bit longer until they suddenly heard something nearby.

"Oh dear, I think we've interrupted something," A metallic voice said. Kirito and Lisbeth suddenly broke apart and darted their heads around to see that the Tin Man and Dorothy had caught back up to them.

"I apologize, I had no idea you two were partners," Dorothy said with a bright red face. Lisbeth's face went red embarrassment as she jumped away from Kirito. However, he spoke before she could.

"Yeah, didn't really think it was important to say but I guess it's pretty obvious after seeing that. Oh boy, that's a bit embarrassing," Kirito said with an awkward laugh. Lisbeth was a bit surprised at the way he just revealed their newfound relationship so easily, but on the other hand, she loved it.

"Sorry you had to see that, it's the first time he's ever been so forward with me," She laughed happily. Before anyone said anything else, the flapping of wings was heard behind them.

"Well I'll be, that was one heck of a display of love. You have earned yourselves a heart," The blue bat said before vanishing in a cloud of blue smoke. Shortly after the bat vanished, the blue forcefield also slowly disappeared and soon enough, they had reached the heart. Kirito walked up to the heart and grabbed it before sending it to his inventory for safekeeping, explaining that it was a magical item to Dorothy and the Tin Man to avoid confusion. On their way back to the cross-roads, Lisbeth voiced something that was bothering her to Kirito.

"Hey, Kirito, what does Asuna think about your decision?" She asked him, causing him to freeze momentarily in his tracks.

"Y'know, I have yet to tell her about it actually. It's only something I decided recently," He admitted.

"Oh my. Kirito, you bad boy," She teased with a smug laugh.

"I'm going to reveal it all to her next time we're alone together. I'm really not sure how she's going to take it, but something tells me she'll accept it. Albeit with more than a few conditions no doubt," He laughed kind of awkwardly. Lisbeth didn't say anymore but she could tell that he was probably terrified she wouldn't take it well.

"Don't worry my love, if she doesn't accept it then I'll give her a piece of my mind," she thought to herself as the thought of being one of Kirito's official girlfriends got her all giddy inside.

And close scene on part one of two of the Oz quest. Plus, the harem is finally starting to take shape.

So, I have realized something. In all these chapters I've written, I've never actually explained what each individual person is wearing, and having a clear image of the scene in your mind is one of the most important parts of stories. So, below is a complete and up to date guide of what each individual main character is wearing and this will most likely not change, but if it does, I promise to include the changes in the story.

But real quick, thanks for 16,000 views on this story! This story is not going anywhere so I hope you continue to enjoy it.
