Jack flew to NYC as fast as he could, which was pretty fast it only took him about 3 minutes to get there. Jack started to look for a girl who had powers or that no one can see just yet for sure. Unfortunately, he found no one that fit those requirements along the way. But he was pulled to one girl who had heart-shaped face auburn hair, amber eyes, and freckles. She had no powers that he knew of yet. Jack decided to follow her to wherever it was she was headed to at the moment.

If I'm being pulled to her, He thought, there must be a good reason. He followed her and found out her name was Sofia. Well, it's almost the same thing as Sof, like a nickname.

"Come on, Sofia we're going to be late." said the girl walking next to Sofia

"Lizzy, it's not my fault we're going to be late for school. You know I had to walk my little brother to his school," replied Sofia.

"Burr, where did that wind come from?" asked the girl Sofia referred to as Lizzy. Whoops, my bad. Jack landed on a roof and the wind calmed. The two girls walked into a building across the street. Just as the door was about to close, Jack swooped indoors of the school building. The girls were halfway up the stairs. Jack flew to catch up with them. It seemed the whole school was saying hello to Sofia. She didn't even get weirded out. She just waved back with a smile on her face. A young boy walked up to Sofia

"Are you going to sing at lunch?" asked the boy.

"If you want me to," Sofia answered

"Yes please."

"Well then, Teddy get your brother and his band to back me up," Sofia chuckles, then goes serious "I can't sing acapella," she whispered so only Teddy could hear. Teddy laughed.

Sofia took off her light blue jacket and put it in her locker. She was wearing a gray turtleneck, gray skirt, black stockings, and black flats. Her waist-length hair was down, pulled back by a clip that matched her hair. She wore a lot of gold. On her right-hand middle finger was a ring with a small heart on it. On her right wrist were three gold bangles that jingled when she moved and finally something that no 17-year-old girl cant wear without being teased was a small teddy bear necklace. She pulled out her books as a boy that looked her age with light brown hair and green eyes walked up.

"Hi, Sofia! How are you?" the boy asked.

"I'm great Jake. You?" she replied. Jake just smiled and looked down at Teddy.

"Hey, little bro."

"Hi, Jake." Just then the bell rang.

"Bye Jake. Bye Sofia," said Teddy as he walked away.

"See you later "

"Bye Teddy," Sofia said as she walked in the other direction. Jake who already had his stuff followed Sofia. They walked in silence till they entered a classroom. Half the seats were taken. but when they walked in all the boys stood up and offered to take Sofia's books.

"Guys, I'm perfectly capable of holding my books," Sofia grumbled one boy with glasses spoke up.

"Come on any of us could do better than that loser," he said pointing to Jake. " I bet he didn't even offer to hold your books."

"Your right, I didn't. Because Sofia asked me not to four months ago." Jake reasoned. Wait, are Jake and Sofia dating? Did not see that coming.

"Now that this is settled. I would appreciate it if you all would move so we could go to our seats," said Sofia. The boys moved and went to their seats. The teacher walked in and took attendance. She went through multiple names. But then she said something that caught Jack off guard.

"Sofia Overland?" the teacher called.

"Here," replied Sofia.

DID SHE JUST SAY OVERLAND?! BUT I DIDN'T HAVE A BROTHER. MARY MARRIED JAMES BENNET. Ok, Jack think logically. The only way she has that last name is if Mama had another boy. But that's not possible because Father died when I was 13. So did Mama get remarried? Ugh, so many questions not enough answers.

The class was in full swing when he stopped thinking of the multiple possibilities. Jack sat down on the windowsill. It's gonna be a long day.

*Time skip Lunch*

Sofia got her lunch from her bag and sat down next to Lizzy and another girl named Sarah. They started to talk and eat. Jake walked over to their table.

"Hey girls," said Jake.

"Hi Jake, "said the girls. They started to chat about anything and everything. A few minutes later a boy walked onto the stage with a microphone in his hand. he turned it on and tapped it a couple of times before saying.

"Would the music queen come up on stage, please?"

Music queen? Who's that?

Sofia got up and went to the stage and took the mic from the boy.

"Thanks, Max. So any requests for what I should sing first?" asked Sofia.

"Let it go!" The whole lunchroom screamed.

"But I sang that on Friday," said Sofia.

"Please!"

"Fine. Alex if you please." A boy wearing headphones nodded and typed something on his phone. Music began to play from the speakers. Jack was getting more and more confused by the second. Then Sofia began to sing in a lovely voice. The entire song high notes louder than Idina Menzel

The lunchroom erupted into applause. Jack was shocked. Her voice is beautiful. Maybe she a siren of a sort I mean she washed her hands before she ate. So she can't be a mermaid. The bell rang and everyone went to their next class. Jack sighed and flew after Sofia.
