They made the decision to move in and help. Coulson walked in just in time to shoot out the one way mirror and take out a man holding a gun about to shoot Daisy.
"Guess it's a good thing I was here. We were monitoring the security feed. And your chances of not going up to the roof just evaporated, they're already taking Charles up there." He told her.
"Okay." Daisy went to take off. "Wait, what are you going to do?"
"Find Will." Coulson said, confusing Daisy.
"Yeah, day got weirder."
Daisy made it to the roof but had to face down a Malleck in a suit that gave him super strength. The only thing that stopped him from killing her was Charles touching him and giving him a vision. Which ended up getting him killed. Daisy tried to save him by quaking Malleck but it was too late. Before he died he asked Daisy to help his little girl, protect her because she would always need it. She agreed.
"Oh God, Daisy!" Natasha said when Coulson helped her walk to medical. He was holding her up, she had a mouth full of blood and wounds all over her.
"She's okay, Malleck had some super powered suit. Get her to medical. I'll get May." He handed her off to Natasha who caught her and wrapped an arm around her.
"I'm fine, Nat." Daisy said groggily. "They already gave me something for the pain."
"Like hell you're fine. We need to make sure nothing's broken." Natasha helped her to a room and to sit down.
Simmons looked her over, did x-rays, and patched her up. She was indeed uninjured, she just had some bad bruising and lacerations.
"Told you." Daisy smirked. "You worry too much. You've taken worse."
"I'm enhanced." Natasha referred to what the Red Room did to her.
"So am I." Daisy countered.
"You don't have advanced healing." Natasha pointed out.
Daisy sighed, defeated.
"Come on." Natasha tugged her by the hand. "It's been a long day, and your mom probably wants to make sure you're okay."
May was worried, she was in Coulson's office.
"Your dad told me what happened. How are you feeling?" She hugged Daisy.
"I'm okay, mom. Simmons said I'm just going to be sore for a few days." Daisy said into her mom's shoulder.
"Get some rest then. I'll make you something to eat." She began to walk out, both the girls following her.
"Um, how about I take care of that. I'll make something for all of us." Coulson got up from his desk.
May gave him a look.
"Don't. You almost burned the house down on Daisy's first birthday." He said to her.
She scoffed. But he smirked and kissed her before leading them all out to the kitchen.
Fitz and Simmons gathered skeletal remains of people found in the building Daisy infiltrated, they were trying to figure out exactly what they were dealing with. They knew the creature from the planet Simmons had been trapped on had possessed his dead body. And somehow had made it through the portal. But they had no idea what it had planned.
They knew there had been a hostile takeover at an agrochemical plant, so they would be looking into that while Daisy and Lincoln went to the badlands on their own mission in the quinjet. Apparently there was a potential inhuman there who might have answers about this thing, but he was a little nuts.
They trapped Giyera in a room and May managed to knock him out and they got him into a containment module before he could wake up and hurt any of them.
Mack began to try to get answers out of him but he almost sounded brainwashed. But he managed to escape on the zephyr and used his powers to take control. He sent them into a downward direction very fast. And at the last second landed them inside a bay. May had been thrown through a window and was very hurt, she tried to contact Daisy but Giyera knocked her out. The entire team in the zephyr was knocked out, and now they were captured.
Daisy and Lincoln managed to find out that the alien in Will's body was designed by the Kree to command the inhuman army for them. Until the inhumans rebelled and the first inhuman was banished to the planet. They were now the only team members not captured and called in Elena and Joey for help.
Daisy was a wreck, her parents and Natasha were on the zephyr and she felt like they couldn't fly there fast enough. They picked up Joey and Elena and were planning on infiltrating, they dropped out of the quinjet and hoped they would be enough.
Inside the zephyr, the team managed to barricade themselves. May had to be carried in and Simmons checked her, finding that she had been injured and was bleeding badly. Coulson was near panicking but he had to keep it together and lead them.
"Hey, hey stay with me." He put a hand to May's face.
"If we get out of this I'm going to kill Giyera." May said angrily but it was obvious she was in pain and trying to stay awake.
"I'll keep him locked up until you're better if you just stay awake." Coulson promised, getting a small smile out of her.
Natasha braced herself for a fight as Hydra tried ti get in. With May down she was going to be doing this herself, while the other agents looked for something to fend them off.
"I make no promises." She said.
Lincoln managed to find Malleck, Simmons managed to put together something that would create a gas and take out the Hydra agents trying to get in. Elena and Joey managed to get into the zephyr but Giyera snuck up on them and knocked Joey down right before Daisy dropped down and quaked him. The inhuman from Colombia that could freeze a person came in Lincoln but Joey surprised him and killed him.
Inside the barricaded room, Coulson could hear them continue to try to get in.
"Take out anything that comes through that door." He said from where he was sitting with May's head in his lap. Natasha was poised to fight, Mack had a metal rod, and Fitz had a gun aimed.
But then there was a knock and a timid "hello?"
"What the hell?" Mack said.
He opened the door to Elena and all of the Hydra agents down. Everyone calmed down and Daisy walked in.
"What took you so long?" Coulson asked.
"Sorry. Had to get the band back together." Daisy commented before moving to Natasha.
"Are you hurt?" Daisy looked her over.
"No but your mom is. Giyera put her through a window." Natasha responded.
Daisy looked down and her eyes went wide when she saw a bloodied May.
"Don't look at me like that." Then she looked at Coulson. "Help me up so I can fly us out of here."
"You can't even walk. I'll do it." Natasha said. She ran straight for the controls and got them out. They went straight back to base where the inhumans celebrated their victory. They got everyone out and got Malleck.
Coulson grilled him about what the thing was in Will's body. He revealed that the inhuman killed his daughter, and that he felt like an idiot. He said that the inhumans that were working for him were now serving this inhuman. And pointed out that the SHIELD inhumans were in Hive's presence and any of them could have been turned.
Coulson quietly locked down the base. No one would come or leave. Malleck didn't have proof but they had to take it seriously. The problem was they had no idea to tell who was infected.
To their shock, the inhuman Joey killed was dead but his body temperature was still normal. They decided to quarantine the body until they could figure out why. They decided to use his body to try to figure out if they could test and cure it.
The idea that Daisy could be turned against them terrified Natasha. She had seen Clint go through it, Daisy possibly dealing with it was like a gut punch. And her own history of being controlled by the Red Room, being used. She wouldn't wish that on anyone. But they couldn't tell the inhumans, if one of them were turned they couldn't know SHIELD knew.
"Time for your pain meds." Lincoln told May. He and Daisy were in May's room discussing the lockdown. Coulson passed it off as a precaution while they had Malleck.
"I don't want that." May argued.
"Mom, please." Daisy pleaded.
"Trust me, in an hour you will." Lincoln assured her.
"Those knock me out." May said angrily.
"Mom he's trying to help you." Daisy approached. May looked down. "Just give me a minute with her." Daisy said to Lincoln who then left the room.
"How are you doing really?" Daisy grabbed her mom's hand.
"A lot of pain. And I hate this hospital gown." May truthfully answered.
"Hmm, you think?" Daisy grinned.
"You did good today." May squeezed her hand. "You led them well."
"Does it ever get any easier?" Daisy asked.
"Only harder." May then noticed Daisy looking concerned. "What?"
"I think Dad's having me lie to them about the base lockdown. They can feel it." Daisy referred to the inhumans.
"Sometimes that's our job."
"It doesn't feel right."
"If he's withholding, I'm sure it's for the right reasons." May assured her daughter.
Later that day May managed to get up and walk around, she made her way to Coulson's office and demanded to know what was going on from Mack.
Simmons opened up the brain of the inhuman Joey killed and found a parasite in his brains. May, Coulson, and Mack gathered in the office where they agreed to quarantine the inhumans until FitzSimmons could find a test.
Suddenly the lights went out. They were about to find out exactly what was going on. FitzSimmons found Malleck dead with an explosive next to him to destroy his body. Coulson ordered the inhumans to go to the common area for a briefing. When they refused they were cornered.
"Dad, what's going on?" Daisy looked scared. Her, Lincoln, and Elena were gathered together.
"We need to get all of you checked out." Hive can sway inhumans.
"Sway?" Lincoln asked. "Like mind control?"
"One of you killed Malleck. We need to figure out who." Coulson said.
"My team wouldn't do that." Daisy countered.
"They wouldn't have a choice." Coulson almost yelled.
"Mom." Daisy looked at May.
"I'm sorry." May said sadly with an icer in her hands.
"What's going on?" Natasha approached and took in the situation. "May!" She was astonished seeing the woman hold her daughter at bay that way.
"One of the inhumans is being controlled. Someone killed Malleck and destroyed the evidence. We need to get them tested." Coulson explained.
Natasha held herself up on shaky knees. This was exactly what she was afraid of.
"Please just do what he says." Natasha pleaded of Daisy.
"Any one of you could have killed Malleck but you singled us out right away!" Lincoln yelled.
"Easy." Daisy held a hand out. This was getting out of hand fast.
Elena ran forward and took May's gun. All she saw was SHIELD turning on her. Daisy shoved Lincoln into the common area and Joey yanked Elena in, they barricaded themselves inside while they tried ti figure out what was going on.
Coulson had their lockers searched to try to find any evidence while the inhumans argued about who could be the infected one. Daisy led them straight to a containment module by tricking them. Coulson revealed they knew who it was, they had found something hidden in Lincoln's locker. It was what they had recovered when they visited the potential inhuman in the badlands.
Natasha was relieved it wasn't Daisy, this opened a huge fan of worms for her. All the inhumans were locked in a containment room while they were all tested, she held Daisy's hand while fluid was retrieved from her, and stayed with her after.
"When will we know?" Daisy asked, as they sat on the couch holding hands.
"I don't know. Simmons said as soon as she can isolate something to test for she'll tell us." Natasha leaned closer to Daisy. Daisy leaned in and touched their foreheads together before kissing Natasha.
"I have to go. I want to know as soon as possible so I'll go hang around your parents until they find out." Natasha smirked.
"You'll annoy my mom." Daisy pointed out.
"Good, maybe she'll bug Simmons to figure the damn thing out." Natasha kissed Daisy's cheek before she left the containment room.
About half an hour later the entire base began to shake. Coulson and May were in the kitchen having a drink, he looked at her and they both knew in that moment. They took off for the hangar entrance.
On their way out they ran into Natasha.
"What's going on?" Natasha yelled over the rumbling.
Coulson kept running while May grasped Natasha's forearm.
"It's Daisy." May simply said.
"No. It's Lincoln." Natasha took her arm from May.
"I'm sorry Nat but it's her." May knew what happened with Barton, and knew Natasha's own history with being controlled. She took off after Coulson to try to catch her daughter.
Natasha stood stunned for a second, then chunks began to fall from the ceiling and she needed to find cover.
By the time May found Coulson he was buried under a pile of rubble. He had been trying to get the hangar door open but it was no use. The shaking finally stopped and she was able to try to dig him out. Natasha caught up with them and helped carry him to medical.
She was devastated, Daisy tried to destroy the base and left her family and her girlfriend for that thing. But she couldn't sit around and mope, she had to channel her feelings to drive her to find her Daisy.
