I lost...

I lost again...

Ash Ketchum leaned against the railing of the balcony at the pokemon center room. The Kalos League has finally ended, ending in another loss. He thought for sure this was it, this time he would win.

So close...

He sighed. "Ash?" Serena startled him from his thoughts, "are you alright?" she asked.

"y-yeah, I'm perfectly fine", she leaned on the railing next to him, they sat in silence for around two minutes. Serena turned to the raven-haired boy.

"you can talk to me you know that right? If anything is wrong, just talk to me."

"Alright Sere," she blushed at the nickname he used. "I'm just upset about the loss, I thought for sure that I could win the League this time, I was so close this time. I just wish I didn't have to lose." Serena put a hand on his shoulder and smiled.

"It's okay Ash, it doesn't matter you lost, you did great. You can always try again, there are still many regions that haven't had the pleasure of having Ash Ketchum grace their League," Ash chuckled but then he frowned.

"But what if I don't want to go to another region."

Serena tilted her head at him, "why wouldn't you? I thought you loved traveling across new regions and seeing what they have to offer." Ash turned to her and hugged her.

"Because it would mean having to leave you," he whispered into her shoulder.

Serena felt her face heat up at his words. He would deny himself an adventure just to stay close to me?. "W-what if you didn't have to leave me?" Ash moved off her and gave her a confused look, "what if I came with you? Joined you in traveling a new region," he didn't say anything for a while, Serena thought she said something wrong until he grinned at her.

"That would be awesome!" he exclaimed, "I was actually thinking of a few regions I could go to, have you heard of Alola? It would be perfect, it's sunny, they do great food, there are all kinds of exotic Pokemon. It'll be great, just the two of us," he smiled at her and she returned it, "h-hey Sere?"

"Yes?"

"Can I kiss you?" Serena felt like her heart stopped, her face became as red as Braixen's flamethrower. When she didn't respond, Ash frowned, afraid he upset her "crap, sorry I shou-" he was cut off by the feeling of her lips on his. He could only describe it as exhilarating, the soft feeling of her lips moving against his. They didn't stop for another five seconds before they separated.

"Goodnight," Serena said before she walked back into their rooms to go to sleep. Ash stood there in silence, he felt like he could do anything right now, he hasn't been this happy since the day he became a trainer.

"Look out Alola, because you're about to experience Ash and Serena." he walked into the rooms before he fell asleep for the night.

"We have eyes on candidate 117, awaiting orders Dr. Halsey".

Doctor Catherine Halsey sat in her office as she was given the news, "you're orders are to discreetly extract 117 from his room and to have him transported to Reach via Pelican, then I'll take over from there."

"Understood."

The men clad in pure black snuck their way into the room as the Kalos crew slept, to make sure 117 wouldn't awaken, they injected him with a small dose of anesthesia.

Ash was taken away that night, with his last thought being of Serena.

The sun shone through the windows of the room. Serena awoke with a yawn, a smile dawned on her face as she remembered the previous night. Looking over to Ash's bed she saw it was empty. He must have gotten up early, well it is his last day in Kalos after all.
Soon everyone awoke, though Serena became troubled as they couldn't find Ash anywhere in the Pokemon Center. What made things all the more troubling was that all his Pokemon were still here, even Pikachu. "I'm sure he's fine Serena, this is Ash we're talking about," Clemont tried to rationalize it but it didn't help her since she knew Ash wouldn't just leave without a note or anything.
They spent several hours looking and waiting for him until they gave up.

"D-did Ash abandon us big brother?" Bonnie said quietly with a tear.

"He wouldn't have, he would never abandon his friends, and definitely not his Pokemon."

They waited longer and looked all around the local area with no luck, that's when they decided to contact his mother.
"Hello? Oh hi, Serena, it's good to see you again, how's Ash?" The older woman greeted them gleefully.

"That's actually why we're calling, we were hoping you had heard from him as we haven't been able to find him all morning." Delia looked shocked, she looked even more worried when she heard that he left his Pokemon. A while later Serena had ended the call and sat down dejectedly in the lounge of the Pokemon center.

This was the day that Ash Ketchum was declared missing.

"I am Dr. Halsey. You must all be wondering why you are here? Well, I'll tell you, you have been taken from your families and homes, as a part of our project. Project Orion ll or better known as the Spartan ll Program" murmurs chorused throughout the hall of young teens and Ash sat there silently, scared, confused, and most importantly, missing Serena.
"From now on this is your new home, and your comrades are your new family."

Everyone was left in silence as they all wondered where they are and where their families were, "children, I would like you to meet Senior Chief Petty Officer Mendez. He will be responsible for all you're training from here on out." Halsey then left Mendez to talk.

"Listen here recruits, we are here to make you humanity's greatest soldiers, you will go through extremely vigorous training and exercises that can even result in death! You will be awoken tomorrow at 0600. You will be shown to your barracks. See you then." The dark-skinned man then walked off stage.

Ash was dragged along by military personnel, "hey, you don't need to hold on so hard" Ash grimaced.

"Quiet maggot, I am a superior officer and you will not speak out of turn!" The soldier exclaimed, "remember, be up at 0600, or else..." Ash as well as the other candidates were shoved into the barracks.

Ash flopped down on his bed, vulnerable and afraid.
