Chapter 1 "I know you missed me, Carl Grimes" (Rated 14 for language and suggestive dialogue)

After the farm collapsed, we were on the road all winter. I missed Sofia. I thought about her a lot and dreamed that she had come out of the barn instead of that brunette girl. But we haven't seen her body. Dead or alive. Or undead. Sofia had been my first crush, like someone I actually liked.

It was a few days after Hershel had lost his leg. He was still unconscious, but alive. I kind of started to move on from Sofia, I mean she was probably dead, or worse, she was a walker. Over the winter, I kind of developed a crush on Beth. I know, I'm only 13 and shes 17. But you know what she is also? Single. What a coincidence! I'm single too!

Beth knows I like her. Hershel knows I like her. Daryl like likes her. Daryl's 25, he's too old for her too! I'm sure she'd rather have too young than too old.

Okay, anyways, there was a little girl at the fence. Well, she wasn't little. She had wavy blond hair down to her elbows that was put in a high up ponytail. Her penetrating brown eyes far from terrified as walkers squared in on her. If it wasn't for her pants, I wouldn't have known it was Sofia. She still had on the kacky cargo pants, but her shirt was now plain black. The boots she was wearing now were different from the red sneakers she had been wearing when we lost her.

I also notice she's got boobs. Descent sized boobs too. Not like Beth, but still nice.

In her belt was a knife. A big knife. But she also was using a gun as me and my dad ran down to her rescue. Her aim was explicit. Perfect. Almost better than mine. Almost.

"Dad that's Sofia." I shout as I open the gate a little ways away from my dad and her.

"Carl. Rick. Can we have a big ole happy reunion in a minute? You know, when my life isn't on the line!" I think for a minute as I realize that the old Sofia never would have said that. I think I like the new one.

She pushes the gate open the rest of the way and flings herself into my arms. We hug for a good few minutes.

"Carl! Carl I missed so so much! I thought about you nearly everyday!" She said. She pushes away and was now on my dad, "Thanks for coming after me, Rick." She said it really sincere.

My dad looked at me then looked back at Sofia, "We've lost a few people since you've been gone, Sofia."

"Who?" She didn't sound surprised.

"Andrea, Dale, Shane, T-dog, and and-" I could see why my dad couldn't tell her Carol was dead.

"My mom?" She said in a small voice.

"I'm afraid so." I guess my dad is out of practice from telling people someone is dead. Because as sheriff, that's his job. Well, it was his job.

"Oh. Okay." Sofia said slowly and softly. She barely let a tear leave her eye. "Can I see the others? Glenn? Lori? Daryl?"

"Yes." The three of us start back towards the prison, "We got some new people. Beth, Maggie, and Hershel Green." My dad says. When we get a little closer to the prison, Daryl can see Sofia from a look out post and he comes bounding like a dog towards us.

Daryl is the one that looked so damn hard for Sofia. He goes out sometimes, he says he's not but we all know he's looking for her. Well I guess he was until now.

"So-Sofia?" He fumbles. He throws his crossbow on the ground. He lifts her into the air and spins around in a hug with her.

"Yeah," She says when he puts her down, "I'm alive. And you've got a pretty sexy crossbow. Can I have it?" I laugh. Leave it to new Sofia for a comment like that.

"Hell no. You can take it for a spin, though." He pauses when a smile curves her lips, "Later. The other's will be so happy!"

"Happy for what?" I hear Maggie ask from behind me. I look to see Maggie and Glenn coming outside. When Glenn sees Sofia he starts at a sprint, followed by a confused Maggie.

"Sofia! Oh my god! You're okay!" He shakes his head and hugs her over and over.

"So this is the famous Sofia?" Maggie says. Her and Sofia shake hands, "I'm Maggie." She pauses, "Carl talks about you in his sleep." She doesn't bother to whisper this information as my dad, Glenn, and Daryl start laughing their asses off.

"What no I don't!" I shout. Sofia looks at me with hurt eyes, "I-I mean I do but, wait no I just-- I mean--" Sofia leaned into me, and right there, infront of everyone she kisses my cheek.

"I know you missed me, Carl Grimes." Then she walks off with Maggie.

Daryl and Glenn wolf-whistle at me. My dad just laughs and pretends like I'm not growing up. Like I'm not going to kiss girls all the time.
