Hey guys I know I kinda sped up and skipped a lot of time in the last chapter so I'm gonna give a little context. Ash went back to Charicific valley and obtained an egg that hatched into Riolu who can speak with Ash using Aura. He also brought Charizard back onto the team. After training for a year and a half, Ash's Pokemon are all fully evolved and the ones that can Mega Evolve have all found their stones and can do so. Kalos Championships start in a week. Serena still loves Ash and he loves her. Ash goes to Kalos in disguise as to not reveal himself to the world yet. He bumps into Dawn who feels his presence as familiar but doesn't know who he is. He goes into the woods and finds Greninja asking him to finish what they started. There's the recap guys. I love anyone who continues to read. I appreciate it. Enjoy!

Ash returned Greninja to his ball and smiled for the first time since he landed in Kalos. He was ready. He hoped she wasn't mad at thought of seeing her soon made him want to do this for her even more. He walked back to the Stadium to register. He placed his Pokedex on the scanner and looked at the nurse joy behind the counter who's eyes went wide as his name popped up. "Ash Ketchum,'' she said quietly.

"Yes, that's me, please don't make a big deal out of this. I would like to keep my identity a secret at least until my first match," Ash told her.

He knew he was being searched for. Promising trainers who had been on the map for so long didn't just disappear.

"Sir, your secret is safe with me, but I do have to let one person know."

"Who would that be?"

"Mr. Goodshow has requested that you speak with him if you were to return as soon as you checked in he was alerted. He will meet you in the suite at the top of the stadium. It's private and nobody else knows about this arrangement."

"What does he want with me?"

"He would not tell us, but I highly suggest going. He's always admired you."

"Thank you, Nurse Joy."

"Welcome back sir."

Ash was confused. He understood that He'd been around for a long time before disappearing, but the president of the pokemon league didn't just ask for private meetings with trainers. Ash began the climb to the suite at the top of the stadium. The door was unlocked when he got there but it was empty. Curious, he walked inside to look at the view of the stadium that the president saw. "Damn," Ash rarely cursed, but this view definitely deserved it.

He could see the entire stadium at a perfect angle to the battlefield. "Impressive isn't it," a voice behind him said.

Ash whipped around and came face to face with the president himself. As far as he could tell they were the only ones in the room. "Very much sir, Thank you for inviting me here."

"Thank you for coming here Ash, it's not very often an elite trainer drops off the map entirely. We've looked everywhere for you, people think your dead son."

"Sorry sir."

"Don't be Ash, I'm sure you had your reason… Could you please remove the hood. It's a bit unsettling."

Ash had forgotten he was wearing the hood; he dropped it to his back and looked at the President once again.

"Thank you, now as I was saying I'm sure you had your reason for cutting out the world, and I won't pry too much. However I would like to see the first three pokemon you plan on using."

"Why is that sir."

"Because I have seen every single trainer here battle at some point and know their entire teams. I've seen you battle but it's been quite a while and I would enjoy seeing you Pokemon again."

"Of course sir."

Ash thought for just a moment and his three came to mind. He unclipped their balls from his belt. Lucario, Charizard, Greninja, I chose you!"

laughed with delight as the pokemon sprang from their balls. "The legendary Greninja returns congratulations Ash."

"Thank you sir. I do have one request."

"Anything for you Ash."

"Can you make it a note for them not to read my name out when they call my first match. I'd like to announce it myself during the battle."

"I'll make note of it for them right away you are going to shock the world soon."

"Thank you sir"

"One more thing Ash, your old rival Alain became champion after your match a few years ago. To battle him again you have to win it all here."

"I will sir."

With that Ash left and began to think about the task at hand. It was going to be tough, but having Alain as champion and not participating made his life easier, but he still had to be ready for whatever came his way.

Tomorrow was the day and he was ready…

NEXT DAY

Ash arrived at the stadium early the next day and began to prepare his team. The first match was a 3v3. He determined that he was going to start with Lucario and then Charizard, and last but not least with Greninja if he got there. He called out his Pokemon. "Alright guys, today is the day. I want everyone to be focused so we're going to meditate for a while."

As you wish Master Lucario said in the back of his mind.

Ash and his pokemon sat in silence until the announcement rang out for all trainers to look to the screens for their matches. Ash stared at the screen as the cards scrambled. Then they all stopped and flipped over. It was the last match of the day against a boy with dark hair. Ash's picture was of him with the hood up; you could only see the tip of his chin. He looked across the field where he saw this trainer standing. Ash did a double take immediately the trainer was with Trevor, Tierno, Shauna, and Serena. Ash couldn't stop himself from staring at her. She was the same as he remembered, gorgeous. Ash walked over to the trainer and nodded politely and shook his hand and wished him good luck during the battle. Unfortunately he was interrupted by "Calem, who's this," Serena turned to look directly at them.

"Just my first round opponent wishing me luck Serena," the boy said

Ash nodded quickly then began to walk away feeling slightly hurt. The way Calem had looked at her. He didn't like it. Was it possible that she'd found someone else.

Serena watched him walk away and wondered why he seemed so familiar. Then Calem tried flirting with her again. "So it seems like he's not here, is he?"

Serena turned back towards the screen to look again, but it had gone dark. "I would be able to tell you if you didn't have to go off talking to strangers every five minutes," She said curtly.

"When are you going to understand this, Ash Ketchum is dead. Nobody has seen or heard from him in over a year. You yourself couldn't find him. Get over the guy and move on to someone who is alive and cares."

Calem had been trying since she came back to Kalos ten months ago. She continued to turn him down and he'd been getting annoyed. "He's not dead!" she screamed in his face and then she walked away. Her status as Kalos Queen now granted her access to a seat next to Alain, and Professor Sycamore. Being queen has its advantages.

Most of the matches weren't really interesting. Sawyer, Trevor and Tierno all won their matches. Serena was happy for her friends, but the one she cared about most wasn't there. Finally the last match of the day was upon them and she was ready to be done.

"Ladies and Gentlemen it's been a fabulous day of battling so far, but it's time for the final match of the day" The announcer said enthusiastically.

"We've got a good one here its the young local boy Calem from Vaniville town!" The crowd roared for its local trainer.

"His opponent has no name or location of origin on this card, but here he is."

The crowd got quiet quick and stared at the mysterious trainer. Ash stood at the edge of the stadium with his hood on. He could feel the eyes on him.

"The battlefield will now be chosen," The announcer said. "It looks like its the grass field!"

The Referee began his standard talk and then told the trainers to choose their first Pokemon. "Absol, I choose you!"

"Lucario, I choose you!"

The two pokemon sprang from the balls and landed on the field and began a stare down. What should I do Master Lucario spoke into Ash's mind "Wait till it makes a move then use counter"

"Absol use night slash!" Calem yelled

"Now"

Lucario moved with blazing speed after Absol got close then used counter right behind the pokemon. "That was incredible," Serena heard next to turned and looked at Alain curiously.

"That trainer has such a good bond with his Lucario he only has to give the cue as to what to say."

On the field Calem's Absol struggled back to its feet. "Lucario, Bonerush" Ash said.

"Absol use.."

It was too late Lucario rushed in with the glowing aura bone and began its attack. Absol stood no chance. "Absol is unable to battle, Lucario is the winner."

Calem recalled Absol and looked across then field at Ash. Luck, not gonna happen again, he thought. "Talonflame, I choose you," he called as his bird pokemon exploded from the ball.

"Who are you," Calem called across the field to Ash.

"My name is Ash Ketchum from Pallet town," Ash said as he dropped the hood.

The crowd went entirely silent. Not one sound was made. Everyone just stared at the person who had just revealed themself. Serena couldn't believe her eyes. He was here. He looked great. He was tanner, and more muscular than the last time she'd seen him. Calem was unimpressed. "So you've returned, and have a new disguise to go with it. After we finish here you gonna wish you'd stayed dead," Calem said with rage.

This guy was the reason Serena didn't like him and he hated him for that. "Talonflame use flame charge"

"Lucario use Dragon Pulse"

"Talonflame dodge and use flame charge"

"Bonerush!"

The two pokemon met in a high powered blast followed by an explosion. Neither trainer could see the field. Ash reached out to Lucario using Aura but got nothing back. Then the smoke began to clear. "Both Pokemon are unable to battle," The referee called.

The crowd roared at what they'd just witnessed. Those were two extremely powerful pokemon and attacks, but there was still a battle happening. "Shit," Calem muttered under his breath. He knew that he would need something huge to pull a win out over Ash, but what. Ash was shocked he hadn't been expecting to need more than Lucario, but should've known not to be too confident. He looked across to Calem and made his decision. "Charizard lets go". He unclipped and got ready to throw it out.

At the same time Calem had just made his decision. "Chesnaught, I choose you."

"Charizard, I choose you."

Calem regretted his decision instantly; he'd really need a miracle now. Ash just smiled and waited. Serena was still in shock as she stared at Ash and wondered what had made him disappear. He certainly had improved greatly though. She wondered what else he had in store. Among the rest of the crowd May, and Dawn had already met up with each other and were also in shock. Dawn was trying to find the fastest way to the trainers' preparation room. She had no such luck.

Calem was thinking of ways he could try and force this to go his way but there was no solution. " Chesnaught frenzy plant"

"Charizard fly up and get ready to dragon tail"

Charizard flew away narrowly avoiding the massive vines that rose from the ground. His tail began to glow. "Now Dragon Tail!"

Charizard swung his tail and made a direct his on Chesnaught. Chesnaught rose from the ground looking quite angry. "Still standing huh," Ash muttered. " Charizard, time to put this away," Ash called out as he reached for the cord he'd attached his key stone to. "Mega Evolve."

Gold beams of light came from Ash and Charizard as Charizard mega evolved. Once again shocking everyone. Alain, Serena, and Sycamore just stared down at the battlefield now with a Chesnaught that was borderline defeated and Ash's now Mega Charizard. "Ash has achieve great things in his time of absence." Alain said. "I wonder how he's done it and how many more surprises does our friend have in store."

Ash smiled, "Flamethrower."

"Chesnaught, look out!"

The Grass type pokemon looked into the flames that were rapidly approaching it and couldn't react fast enough. It was engulfed in flames. "Chesnaught is unable to battle, Charizard is the winner, Calem is out of usable pokemon that makes Ash the winner."

"And just like that its over. The return of a legend and the end of the line for Calem. This kids got talent, keep an eye on him in the future!" the announcer called.

Serena stood up and applauded as she watched Ash walk towards the center of the field to meet the now sulking Calem. She watched them shake hands at the center, Calem glaring at Ash with hatred, and Ash looking laid back without a care in the world. Serena asked Alain the way to Ash's trainer room so she could meet him back there.

Ash returned to the back room and changed back into his normal outfit. There was no need to be in disguise anymore. He was packing his bag to head out when the door opened behind him. "You have a lot of explaining to do," he turned to see the honey-blonde girl with light blue eyes with an unreadable look in her eyes.

"Serena"
