Here we are again… the last chapter wasn't my best work and I'm sorry. I will try to improve upon this in future chapters. Once again I love anyone who reads this and I appreciate the encouragement I get every time I release one of these chapters. I currently have an idea of how I want the rest of this region to go. I think each region is going to be between 5-8 chapters. I have not decided if I would like to include Alola or Galar yet, but that's still a long way off if I do so. Let me know what you guys wanna see and I'll definitely take suggestions or ideas and see what i can do. Anyone who sends me an idea that I enjoy enough to try and incorporate into the story will get a shout out at the end. I want everyone here to have fun. Love you all. Enjoy this chapter!
"What the hell was that!" Serena asked him as they left the gathering and went to their respective rooms (Ash had been invited to stay in the tower as well).
"We were just talking and then he just snapped," Ash said.
"Any idea as to why."
"He was rambling on about how I couldn't just come back, win, and have you."
"That makes sense. He always hated that I stayed loyal to you even after you disappeared."
"Anyways he was out of line. I had to remain calm so nobody got hurt."
"Oh alright but you have to go to bed, mister big match tomorrow."
"Ok goodnight, I love you Sere."
"Goodnight, Ash I love you too."
Ash ended up sweeping his top 32 opponent with Sceptile the next day but his top 16 match would be against an old friend…
Ash and his friend shook hands before walking to their respective areas. Ash signed as he knew this was entirely a possibility when he came back even though he had hoped it wouldn't happen.
His mind went to the game plan as he thought of who to start with and how this battle could go. Luckily Trevor had shown the same cards as a few years ago and it seemed as though he'd focused heavily on training his Pokemon. His Charizard was insanely powerful now, and had been his finisher in the first two battles. Ash knew he had the means to take care of the if necessary but didn't want to pull that card unless 100% needed. Aerodactyl, Florges, and Charizard he thought This is a tough one. Then an idea popped in his brain. He hadn;t thought about using this set at all until he remembered moves to counter against Florges and Aerodactyl. He decided on his team.
1 hour later…
As Ash walked out into the stadium hearing the roar of the crowd and looked across at his friend and rival he could only hope he picked the correct team. Trevor on the other hand knew this was gonna be tough but he had confidence as well as being nervous. Trevor had watched Ash's first two matches and he knew the power his friend brought. Trevor had assumed Lucario, Charizard, and Sceptile. That seemed manageable to him and he knew his team could do it.
"This will be a three on three Pokemon battle on the rock field," The referee called. "Begin!"
"Aerodactyl, Go!"
"Gliscor, I choose you!"
Trevor was immediately surprised. He had never seen Ash use this pokemon and began to wonder how few of Ash's Pokemon he'd actually seen. In the booth Alain, and professor Sycamore had taken an interest in this matchup. Partly because Ash was battling partly because of the choice he'd made to start. "Interesting choice to start with Gliscor," Sycamore said.
"Indeed, his ground type attacks will be useless." Alain said with great interest.
Serena looked to their conversation and then back to the battlefield and saw the look in Ash's eyes. He was planning something, but what was it.
"Up into the air Gliscor."
"You to Aerodactyl!" said a much less confident Trevor.
The two Pokemon took off above the field and began their aerial battle. "Wing attack!" Trevor yelled.
"Get close and use, Steel Wing!"
The two Pokemon sped towards each other Aerodactyl swung his wings towards Gliscor who took the hit and the slashed with wings coated in a metallic sheen, blasting Aerodactyl backwards onto the top on a rock. Both pokemon were feeling those powerful hits, but neither looked ready to back down. "Flamethrower!" Trevor called.
"Use Stone Edge and block it!"
Gliscor slammed into the ground and a row of rocks formed in front of it blocking the flames. Ash then realized how hot it would be in there for his Pokemon as Aerodactyl kept spewing flames towards the formation. "Dig Gliscor!"
He could only hope. He felt something in the ground twitch with his aura and smiled. "Now! Use Thunder Fang!"
Gliscor exploded from the Earth underneath Aerodactyl and clamped down. "No! Aerodactyl use Dragon Pulse!"
Aerodactyl opened its jaw straight towards the clamped Gliscor and began to glow. "Gliscor let go and block it using steel wing"
Gliscor let go of Aerodactyl and put its wing protectively around it as it fell. Aerodactyl let out a dragon pulse that directly hit the falling Pokemon. Ash winced as he knew that even with the protection his pokemon felt that hit. "Wing Attack!" He heard from across the field.
Wait, he thought. Aerodactyl quickly closed the gap and was about to strike. "Now use stone edge!"
Gliscor quickly flipped out of its free fall and slammed its tail into the ground and a huge spire of rocks slammed into Aerodactyl. The Ancient pokemon was slammed backwards and then remained on the ground with spirals in its eyes.
"Aerodactyl is unable to battle, Gliscor is the winner" The ref called.
Ash smiled but noticed his Pokemon was slightly tiring. He'd have to get some quick damage in and tend to his friend later.
"Incredible, he's managed to teach his pokemon how to take less damage from attacks that would be a sure finish, and then uses them to his advantage," Alain said.
"Indeed, but gliscor still felt that dragon pulseIi'm not quite sure how long it can last," Sycamore added.
Trevor recalled his Aerodactyl. "Thank you my friend."
He looked across the field " Florges, It's your turn."
Florges quickly took care of Gliscor, but not before taking several steel wings. Ash then chose Talonflame who finished off Florges with a very well timed Flame Charge. Trevor was onto his final Pokemon.
"Charizard, let's finish this."
Ash looked across the field as the fire type emerged. "Talonflame are you ready?"
"Flame"
"Alright let's give it your all"
"Charizard, let's give it everything right away Mega Evolve!" Trevor yelled.
Both pokemon took to the air and began flying around. "Let's start it Talonflame, use Hurricane," Ash yelled.
"Charizard get close and use dragon claw!"
The winds made it hard for Charizard to move Talonflame however was moving faster and faster around the inside. "Now use a supersonic Bravebird!" Ash yelled.
Talonflame began to glow blue and rocketed towards Charizard. "Dodge it!" Trevor called.
He watched as his Charizard took a direct hit from the pokemon unable to move due to the hurricane. Then his Charizard dropped below the Hurricane looking damaged, but not beaten. "Use Steel Wing!" Ash yelled.
"Catch it, Charizard and use Flamethrower," Trevor called.
Charizard caught Talonflame by the wings and began an assault of flames onto the pokemon. Eventually the bird pokemon fell from the sky with swirls in its eyes. "Talonflame return."
Ash looked at the Mega Charizard who was touching back down to the ground. It was definitely damaged and he knew his last pokemon could finish it, but it was his ace and trump card. He made a split decision, and went a different route.
"Pikachu your turn."
"Pika!" the small pokemon said energetically.
"Use Quick Attack and get close."
Pikachu began to dart towards Charizard who looked around in confusion. "Take off Charizard."
"Now Pikachu VOLT TACKLE!"
"What, No!" Trevor yelled.
The electric mouse appeared behind Charizard and covered itself in electricity and dove straight into Charizard who subsequently collapsed.
"Charizard is unable to battle, Pikachu is the winner. This battle goes to Ash Ketchum of Pallet town"
The friends went to the middle and shook hands again congratulating each other on a great match. Then Ash and Trevor walked opposite directions. Ash was excited for his next opponent, and Trevor was still wondering what other tricks Ash had up his sleeve.
