Chapter 5: Duel Monsters In The Ruined Zoo
In the Ruined Zoo, the sky was gray and no people were around. Well, except one. A boy with black spiky hair and wearing a green long sleeve shirt, shorts, and boots named Gon Freecs. He was walking down the road, kicking a can, and looking afraid.
Gon: Oh man. I'm alone. Where are Killua and the others?
Suddenly, he was surrounded by Primids.
Gon: Oh no! What's going on?
Suddenly, a giant moving statue appears behind him. It looks like Younger Toguro. Gon screams and makes a run for it. The statue chases after him.
Gon: G...Go away!
He ran away from the statue as fast as he could. He has to fight off some enemies along the way like the Normal Primids, Boom Primids, and mini-helicopters carrying buckets of hot metal bricks called Buckots. The Buckots dropped some hot metal bricks down at Gon, but he dodges their attacks. He uses Jajanken Paper to charge his fist with energy and fire a yellow energy sphere at the Primids and Buckots, taking them out. He made his way to some gates with buttons. He hits the buttons, opening the gates. He would soon reach a giant pool with some platforms.
Gon: Maybe if I jump on the platforms over the pool, the statue would fall into it.
He jumps onto the platforms over the pool and the statue fell into the pool, making a huge splash. Gon sighs in relief.
Gon: That was close.
As he jumps back to the ground, the statue jumps out of the pool.
Gon: WHAT? He's still chasing me?
He continues running away from the statue. But as he continues running, he trips on a branch and got stuck.
Gon: Oh no!
He saw the statue gaining on him.
Gon: AAAHHH! LET ME OUT!
He tried to break free, but he couldn't. As the statue's shadow was covering him, he covers his head in fear.
Gon: SOMEBODY! HELP ME!
?: SPIRIT SHOTGUN!
Suddenly, alot of energy spheres appeared and hits the statue on the head, causing it to fall over. Gon looks up to see who saved him. He saw a teenage boy with black hair, wearing a white sleeveless shirt, and blue jeans. He is Yusuke Urameshi the Spirit Detective. He turns to Gon.
Yusuke: Are you OK, Gon? Why didn't you use your powers?
Gon: I'm fine. I'm just a little scared. Thanks for saving me, Yusuke.
The statue got up again and jumps high.
Yusuke: Excuse me for a moment.
Yusuke jumps high too and uses Spirit Gun to charge up energy in his finger and fire an energy bullet. It enters into the statue, making it explode. Gon frees himself and Yusuke helps him up. They turned to see a big muscular man with short black hair, wearing sunglasses, green shirt, and blue jeans. He is Younger Toguro.
Yusuke: Long time no see, Toguro.
Toguro: Yusuke, how dare you! You'll pay for what you've done!
Yusuke: Gon, I may need your help. Would you help me?
Gon: OK, Yusuke. I'm ready.
Yusuke and Gon charges at Younger Toguro. Toguro activates his 200% Power to make his muscles even bigger, rip his shirt, and turn his body gray. He uses Finger Flip Bullets to flick his fingers and fire air bullets at Yusuke and Gon, but they easily dodged his attacks. Gon uses Jajanken Paper on Toguro, while Yusuke uses Spirit Punch to charge his fist with energy and punch Toguro. Both attacks did some damage to Toguro. Toguro unleashes his Demon Aura to release an energy explosion on Yusuke and Gon, doing alot of damage to them. Gon uses Jajanken Paper to create an energy blade from his fist to slash Toguro, while Yusuke uses Spirit Kick to charge his foot with energy and does a jump kick. Both attacks did some more damage to Toguro. Toguro then grabs both Gon and Yusuke, threw them high in the air, jump after them, and does a downward punch on the both of them, sending them down to the ground, and creating a massive hole in the ground. Yusuke and Gon barely stood up.
Gon: He is too powerful!
Yusuke: We may need to use our most powerful attacks.
Gon uses Temper to increase his power. He then uses Jajanken Rock to charge energy in his fist and punch Toguro, while Yusuke uses Mega Spirit Gun to charge up his Spirit Gun and fire a giant energy sphere. Both attacks did alot of damage to Toguro, disintegrating him.
Gon: Thank you, Yusuke. Without you, I'd be squashed by Toguro right now.
Yusuke: No worries. Don't be too scared. Find your courage. That way, you can summon more power in your attacks.
?: Touching. Very touching.
Yusuke and Gon looks up. Crocodile was on the hill with the Dark Cannon in his hands.
Yusuke: CROCODILE! What are you doing here?
Crocodile: Since you two had done so well together, I'm afraid I have to take one of you. I choose you, Yusuke!
He fires an arrow, but Yusuke dodges it.
Yusuke: You need more than that to beat me!
Crocodile: Grr...Fine! Take this!
He fires four more shots, but Yusuke dodges them all.
Crocodile: Heck with this! I'll take Gon instead!
He aims the gun at Gon, who stood there in shock. Yusuke turns in shock. As Crocodile fires at Gon...
Yusuke: GET OUTTA HERE, GON!
Yusuke pushes Gon aside and took the blow himself, turning him into a trophy.
Gon: NOOOOO! YUSUKE!
Crocodile jumps down and laughs evilly. Gon ran away scared. It begins to rain. Crocodile held up the Yusuke trophy.
Crocodile: That's right, little boy! Run away! I'll see you again!
Gon: I'm sorry, Yusuke! But I promise, I'll save you!
Gon keeps running away from Crocodile as he keeps laughing nastily. When it stops raining, Gon begins to walk, feeling unhappy.
Gon: He took the blow to save me. It's all my fault.
Then he bumps into someone. It was a short teenage boy with red spiky hair with some yellow streaks on it, wearing a blue jacket with a black shirt under it, a chain necklace with a golden pyramid, and blue pants. He is Yugi Muto, the Duelist from Domino City.
Gon: Sorry. I wasn't paying attention.
Yugi: Oh, it's you, Gon. If you're looking for a way out, we have to get past them.
He was pointing to the Primids, who got in the way.
Gon: Oh no! Now we have to fight more of them?
But Yugi comforts him.
Yugi: Don't worry. I'll deal with them.
Suddenly, he glows brightly and transforms into a taller boy. He is now Yami Yugi. He inserts a device with five slots on his left arm called the Duel Disk. He inserts a card in one of the slots and summons the Celtic Guardian.
Yami: OK, Celtic Guardian. Let's take them out.
The first group of enemies they fought are the Normal Primids, Boom Primids, and Auroros. Celtic Guardian slashes his sword at the Primids, while Gon uses his fishing rod to grab one of the Auroros and threw it at the other Auroros. They took out the enemies and proceed to the next area, where they were attacked by flat humanoid ghosts called Floows. They let out a howl, doing some damage to the gang, and disintegrating the Celtic Guardian.
Yami: Are you OK, Gon?
Gon: I'm fine. These monsters are really powerful.
Yami: We need to take them out fast.
Yami summons Gaia the Fierce Knight, who takes out the Floows with his two lances. When Gon and Yami reaches the next area with a swinging platform, they got ambushed by Normal Primids, Boom Primids, and Floows. Gon delivers punches and kicks to the Primids, while Gaia the Fierce Knight attacks the Floows with his lances. They took out the enemies and proceed to the aquarium. When they reached the pool with a big platform in the middle and three floating platforms, they were ambushed by multiplying ball enemies with mono-eyes and evil smiles called Bytans.
Gon: Are these monsters multiplying?
Yami: It looks like they are. We better take them out.
The Bytans all attacked Gaia the Fierce Knight, disintegrating him. Yami summons Summoned Skull, who zaps all the Bytans with his electricity, taking them all out. Gon and Yami proceeds to the next area, where a Dark Portal appears with the Glunders and Bytans coming out. Gon uses Jajanken Scissor to slash at all the Glunders and Bytans, while Summoned Skull zaps the Dark Portal, destroying it. After taking out all the enemies, Gon and Yami climbs up the ladder and left the aquarium.
Yami: We're almost outta here. We just need to hold off a little longer.
They jumped on some springs that bounced them on top of a building, where they got attacked by Boom Primids and Tickens. The Tickens crushed Summoned Skull, disintegrating him. Yami summons the Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl, who both fires dark orbs at the Boom Primids and Tickens, easily taking them out. Gon and Yami jumps over a series of wooden platforms, where they fought off some Fire Primids and Floows. Gon uses Jajanken Paper on the Fire Primids, while both Dark Magicians uses their Dark Magic to take out the Floows. After taking out the enemies, Gon and Yami proceeds to the last wooden platform, where they were ambushed by more Boom Primids, Fire Primids, and Tickens.
Gon: Oh come on! Just how many more enemies are there?
Yami: Relax. We just need to take them out and were outta here.
Yami inserts a card in his Duel Disk and uses Swords of Revealing Light to summon light swords from the sky and trap all the enemies. Gon uses Jajanken Rock on the Tickens, while the two Dark Magicians fired dark orbs at the Primids. They took out all the enemies and jump down the wooden platform. They made it through the Ruined Zoo.
Yami: Now we can leave this place.
Yami returns the cards back to his deck, making Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl disappear. He also reverts back to Yugi. He turns to Gon.
Yugi: Thanks for helping me out, Gon. See ya later.
And he walks off. Gon remembers Yusuke's sacrifice and he ran to Yugi.
Gon: Wait! I'm coming with you!
Yugi: Huh? Why?
Gon: Crocodile was using some Dark Cannon and kidnapped Yusuke. I have to find Yusuke and rescue him.
Yugi: Crocodile, huh? I ran into him not too long ago.
Gon: You did?
Yugi: Yes. I was saved from him by Natsu.
In a flashback, Yugi was fighting Crocodile.
Yugi: I was scared when Crocodile appeared with that gun.
Yugi was sitting on the ground in fear as Crocodile aims his cannon at him.
Yugi: Then Natsu appears.
A teenage boy with pink spiky hair, wearing a black vest showing his chest, and white pants appeared. He is Natsu Dragneel of the Fairy Tail Guild.
Natsu: Sorry, but you're not taking him!
Crocodile: Fine. I'll take you instead.
Yugi: No, Natsu!
Natsu smiles at Yugi.
Natsu: Don't worry. Find my friends, Kenshin, Inuyasha, and Ichigo. They will help you. See ya later, Yugi.
Crocodile shot the arrow into Natsu. Natsu was turned into a trophy. Yugi ran away as Crocodile laughs evilly, holding the Natsu trophy in the air. The flashback ends.
Yugi: And he sacrificed himself for me. OK, Gon. We'll find Yusuke and maybe Natsu. By the way, I need to ask you a favor.
Gon smiles as he joins Yugi and left the Ruined Zoo.
That's it for chapter 5. Much like in Pokemon X Digimon: Subspace Emissary, the flashback was an added scene inspired by Super Saiyan Crash. Next time, we will be introduced to Kenshin, Inuyasha, and Ichigo.
