In Prom's dreams, the memories that had been brought to the surface stirred. They woven and mixed their way into what he had wished could have been a good night of sleep. He found himself out at Highbridge, in a storm that felt all too familiar to him. A storm that still rattled his skull and all the way down to his heart.

Prom made his way across the bridge carefully, not really knowing why he was moving forward. He couldn't see too far beyond him so he took slow and careful steps. He could feel the stones becoming slippery and unstable behind him. He knew he wouldn't have traction for much longer with more and more rain pouring down.

The bridge started to flood slightly, water running along his shoes. He started to slow down, staring around him to see if he could find anyone nearby. He moved over to one of the doors that lead to small rooms on the Highbridge.

"Hello!" Prom called out. "Is anyone here? Please let me in!"

He pulled and pushed on the door, but it would not budge. He ran across the bridge to the other door and tried the same thing, but it gave the same result. No door would open for him no matter how hard he tried and now he was going to be stuck in the pouring rain.

"Someone! There has to be someone here!" he shouted again.

"Prom…" a soft voice purred.

Prom turned around and stared behind him. "N-N'oct?"

He knew it had to have been N'oct. There was no mistaking the accent, or even the way he rolled his r's. It was a trait that a lot of Miqo'te had, and N'oct did it… had always done it so beautifully. His voice was always so fancy… had always been.

"Prom," N'oct's voice came again.

Prom started to look all over, but he could still not see through the sheets of rain, but his heart was already pounding heavily. He could feel the aches and the twists it gave him as he wished so badly he could be away from this bridge. He wanted to get as far away as he could, but for some reason his feet just didn't want to move.

Even with the pouring rain he could have easily just run off the bridge and headed farther and farther away from it. Yet he still remained where he was, becoming completely drenched. Now he was cold and wet and still had no place to go. He was still out in this storm and he was beginning to lose it after hearing the voice of a long gone friend.

Suddenly, he saw something in the corner of his eye. Standing a few feet away from him, he could see a figure. Even with the rain coming down so heavily, he could see that there was an outline of a person also standing there with him. With another heavy beat of his heart he managed to move his feet in the direction of them.

"N'oct?! N'oct is that you?"

"Prom… why?"

Prom started to slow as he came closer. N'oct was a little more in focus now, but there was something uneasy with how he stared at him. His eyes looked void of all life and joy, and instead looked empty and hauntingly cold.

"What? What is it, N'oct?"

"Why didn't you try?"

The rain seemed to turn frigid. Each drop hitting his body felt cold as ice. If it were to get any colder, the rain would become shards of ice, striking into his skin.

"N'oct! You know I did what I could! I was… I wish I could have only been faster. If I had, you could have… I could've…"

"It's too late for that now," N'oct replied.

Turning around, N'oct started to walk away, his image growing faint from Prom's eyes. Right away, Prom started to run, trying to keep his traction with the wet stones underneath him. His heart started to race again, pounding against his chest harder than ever before. If N'oct was here, he wasn't going to lose him, not this time.

"N'oct! Wait! Please don't run away!"

N'oct only got farther away, fading further and further from Prom's view. The water beneath him started to flood, reaching up to his ankles. While logically he needed deep down that couldn't have made any sense on the bridge, he ignored it and tried to move further across it.

"N'oooooct!"

Waking up, Prom jolted into a sitting position. He placed a hand to his heart, feeling it rattling through his chest still. He couldn't slow the breathing or even his mind racing from what had just happened. He had dreamt of N'oct. He had dreamt of that moment… that fateful day where he lost the one friend closest in his heart.

"Huh Prom?" Noctis yawned as he sat up, rubbing his eyes. "What happened?"

"I… I apologize. I'm sorry for waking you. I only… I just…"

"A nightmare?" Noctis asked.

Prom lowered his head, bobbing it slightly. "Yes."

"Wanna talk about it?" Noctis offered.

"I wouldn't wish to bother you with such things."

"Nah, it's cool. Prompto and I… you know the guy from my world who's like you. We talk if one of us can't sleep. Just talking and stuff? It can help."

Prom managed a smile. "Thank you. That is very kind of you to offer. The nightmare though… I dreamt of that day. The day I lost him."

Noctis looked sad. "I'm sorry. I can't imagine how it feels. Not really. Well… maybe? I've had a memory from childhood I never forgot. Sometimes I dream about it again."

"Oh, that sounds quite terrible," Prom hummed, not wanting to pry too much. "How do you manage it then? When you wake from it?"

"As scary as it was… I know I have survived by that point and I have gotten stronger. I know it isn't like yours though. You dreamt of your friend… mine is just about…" he licked his lips. "The time I was hurt for a long while from a monster attack."

"A nightmare is still haunting no matter where the source came from. But thank you, it helps to know I am not alone suffering with memories from my past."

Noctis reached over and placed a hand on Prom shoulder. "It's no biggie. Just let me know if you need anything else, okay?"

Prom started to smile a little more than before. "Thank you, Noct. You are just as kind as N'oct was."

"Yeah, happy to help. Think you can sleep again?"

Prom laid back down and closed his eyes. "I think I shall. Let us return to rest and hope tomorrow we can pursue the rest of our quest."

When Prom did fall asleep, he did manage to have much less tension filled dreams. No longer did he have dreams of a failed past, but instead something much most peaceful. He was able to relax and wake up the next morning feeling much more refreshed and calm. But now they had to get back to their mission at hand. Prom breathed in deeply as he gathered up his

Once everything was cleaned up, they headed back to Gridania looking around the city. They found Kipih soon enough, but she seemed busy talking to a local outside of the amphitheater, so Noctis moved to a post to lean against as they waited.

Prom came by and stood close to him. "Now we just need to wait for the opportune time to speak to Kipih."

"Yeah, guess so."

"May I ask a question while we wait?" Prom asked as he stepped closer.

Noctis nodded. "Sure, go ahead."

"You mentioned last night that you would spend your nights in a tent with your three friends. But I believe I've only heard two names as of last night. May I ask about the other?"

"Oh sure. So you know Prompto already, cause ya know… and I did talk about Ignis. But that would leave Gladio. He's the big muscle in our group. Loves to read though when we aren't out hiking or fighting monsters."

Prom smiled. "Sounds like you got quite the group."

"Yeah, it's good… just hope they are managing without me."

"I'm sure they will be fine, and even better once we get you home," Prom replied.

Before Prom could even ask the question, he noticed two young Elezen children running up to them. They stared at Prom with wide and adoring eyes, their grins spreading across their faces.

"Are you Mister Prom?" one of them asked.

"The Mister Prom? The one who often plays music in the amphitheatre right here in our lovely Gridania?" the other asked.

Prom smiled and nodded his head. "You are correct! I am the one and only Prom. Master of the music!"

The children giggled.

"We heard your last concert!"

"Our parents let us come to see it even though you're an Au Ra! And they actually liked it! Said you were great for an Au Ra!"

Prom cleared his throat before kneeling down to the children's eye level. "It doesn't matter the race, everyone can be great. Even you two could show potential in your future. But you must always be kind towards others."

"Oh we will!"

"We promise we will be nice to everyone."

Prom smiled. "Good. I believe in you two. Now, keep up the good work and make Eorzea's future bright. Okay?"

The two Elezen nodded excitedly, both smiling to Prom and then to one another. They then bowed their heads respectively towards him.

"Thank you, Mister Prom."

"You are the most wise! We shall not forget the moment."

After that the children stood up straight and said their goodbyes. Prom stood up as they left, waving to them as they went away. After that, Prom turned to see that Noctis was staring at him again. Once again probably completely confused by what he had just witnessed.

"I'm sorry, I didn't think I would be hounded by any fans of mine."

"You play music?"

Prom gave a nod. "Of course! Why, I play right here in the amphitheater!" He pointed to the currently empty amphitheater that they were standing outside of. "I do tend to draw quite the crowd."

"Ah, cool," Noctis said, nodding his own head. "And the other part… what those children said?"

"Ah, that isn't anything I truly concern myself with. There is prejudice somewhere in every race… just that some may be louder than others. But I pay it no mind! Having lived here for years, I've grown accustomed to it over these years."

"Hmm, if you say so."

"I can assure you that I am fine. It really is nothing to be concerned about," Prom said as he turned to look at Kipih. "Ah looks like she's just about finished up. Let's go and see what she has to say and inform her of our findings."

They went up to her and started to discuss what had happened. Kipih wrote down everything they said, questioning some of it and making even more notes. In the end of the discussion she said she would have to talk more with her colleagues, telling the two to sit back and wait a bit longer.

Noctis had then asked if it would be okay if he were to explore the city while they waited. Kipih said it would be alright as long as he didn't wander too far out of city limits, and thus Noctis walked off again, heading over to New Gridania.

Prom couldn't help but chuckle as he started to run after Noctis. He was just like N'oct, sometimes just heading off to places without even waiting for him. Thankfully, Noctis hadn't gone too far in New Gridania, having stopped by some of the stalls just outside of the pathway between the two areas.

Noctis waved as Prom came close. "Sorry I walked off again. Got a little ahead, didn't I?"

"It's alright. You wished to explore and so you have."

"Yeah, just was checking out the places here, seeing the clothing at this stall. I was just starting to browse when the shopkeeper offered me stuff for free."

The shopkeeper, Maisenta, smiled at the two. "Ah Prom, your friend has a fine physique and exceptional fashion taste. Having an attractive young man such as him model our garments is the best form of advertisement."

Noctis blushed as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Thanks, lady." He then turned his attention back to Prom. "Anyways, I wanna explore some more. You're cool to hang out still, yeah?"

"I'm cool?"

Noctis chuckled. "It's an expression. Just means like 'are you good to' or something."

"Oh, oh yes then. I would be cool," Prom replied.

The two turned away from the stalls and started to walk around the area. "So I was thinking," Noctis said. "I've come all this way to this beautiful place, I might as well try to see what I can of it, so I've got something to tell my friends."

"I think that is a wonderful idea. Gridania is a beautiful place to admire and take in the views. Though I wish we could go to Limsa Lominsa. That is a beautiful city right by the sea."

Noctis raised an eyebrow. "Really? By the sea?"

Prom nodded. "It is. The vast oceans surround it, and the sunsets there are something else."

"Man, now I wish I could go there, it would've been great for what I have in mind. But… this place will have to do, it looks like it could be just as good."

"Just as good for what?"

"It may not look it, but I'm kinda crazy about fishing, I go whenever I have time, and I've got time now. So I'm going to hit up a place that I asked about, it's just nearby… I think."

"I should have guessed you liked fishing," Prom mused softly, letting the warmth in his chest rekindle the old memories.

"Let me guess, N'oct fished as well?"

"Of courses. There were some days where we traveled around to different cities in order to catch all the different varieties."

"Wow, it really sounds like me. You wouldn't believe how annoyed I'd make the guys when I wanted to stop at every fishing stop. I'd want to spend all day there if I could."

"Well, we may not have all day, but I'm sure we could have some time for you to experience fishing in Eorzea! Where were you planning to go?"

"I uh… I think I was told somewhere in the Central Shroud? Wherever that is."

"I think I know the area you are referring to. Come, I will show you the way."

Prom led Noctis out of Gridania where he called his chocobo, Rose, back to him. The two got on and headed off towards the Central Shroud. Once there, Prom led Rose across the land until they arrived in the Jadeite Thicket. He brought them over to the river and dismounted from Rose, and Noctis followed right after.

"Ah yeah, this is what I'm talking about. Beautiful scenery and fish in the waters below, just waiting for me to catch them."

"Then go right ahead, show me how much of a fishing master you are," Prom said as he sat down by the edge of the river.
