When Fred and George trick Ron and Pansy into a blind date, they expected it to be a laugh (for themselves). What they didn't expect was for this date to actually go well, or for Ron and Pansy to start dating properly

To say that George Gideon Weasley and Fred Fabian Weasley were troublemakers was like saying the ocean was wet or that Hogwarts was old. They did not make trouble, they personified it. They were the greatest pranksters and tricksters to ever grace the halls of Hogwarts in the many centuries it existed. They were gregarious to a fault, where even in their sleep they never ceased making noise.

So the fact that the two sat there utterly speechless was quite the event.

Of course, most people thought they were planning their next great trick. In fact, most thought that if they approached the twins at the moment, they would be the target for the trick. Thus everyone in Gryffindor tower left the two alone.

Finally, Harry James Potter and Hermione Jean Granger approached the two. Hermione hung behind Harry by half a pace. Not that she was a coward of course for she was a Gryffindor true. However, she only knew of one person to have never been pranked by the twins and that person would be her shield.

Said person waved a hand in front of the twins, noticing that their eyes stared blankly into the distance. "I think they're dead," Harry said flatly.

"They can't be dead," Hermione snorted. "They're breathing. See?"

"Right. Coma? Can you be in a coma with your eyes open?"

"I think there are stasis spells that keep a person frozen in time."

"How do we test that?"

"Poke them with a stick?"

Harry poked first George then Fred with a quill. Seeing no response he poked them again. George swiped at the quill lethargically and irritably.

"See, told you they were alive," Hermione said with a little relief.

"What got you two gaping like fish?" Harry asked.

"We might have done something...dreadful," Fred said tonelessly.

"Oh? Must have been for you to admit to it." Harry narrowed an eye. "How dreadful is dreadful? From a scale of gnome bite to Basilisk bite?"

"Uh..." the twins looked at each other and shrugged. "Where does a pissed off Cornish Pixie lay on that scale?" George asked.

"Freshly caught?" Hermione asked with a smile, it wilted when the twins glared at her. "What, I'm not allowed to make inane comments? That's not fair."

"Seriously, you're starting to wig me out. Out with it," Harry said.

"So uh, we played a prank," Fred said.

"As you do," Harry snorted.

"Right. And at the time, it seemed like a good one," George continued.

"We were testing a new type of charmed parchment. When two pieces of the parchment are near each other, they seek each other via Attraction Charm," Fred said.

"Then they stick to both each other and whoever is holding said parchment with Sticking Charms," George said.

"And the only way to unstick said parchment and hands is to complete a task."

"Namely, making lips meet like hands do, and tongues entwine like fingers do."

"Snogging," they said in unison.

Harry rolled his eyes. "Right, gathered that. So? Did it work?"

"Did you two snog each other?" Hermione giggled.

"Ha ha, no." Fred rubbed his face. "We uh, slipped one half to Ron because he was annoying us."

"And uh, we slipped the other half to a Slytherin girl that might have called us twin weasels without a wit between us."

"That sounds like something Pansy would say," Hermione said, her stomach sinking. "Oh no, you didn't."

"We did," they groaned together.

"At first it was great," George muttered. "They were so mad. Arguing, yelling. The best part was that they picked up the parchment with their wand hands so it's awkward for them to try and use their wands to undo things."

"You spied on them?" Harry asked, incredulous.

"We had to! To make sure it worked!" Fred said, face red.

"And did it?" Hermione asked.

"It did," was Fred's reluctant reply. "It...worked too well. All of it."

Hermione's hand went to her mouth and Harry's eyes popped open. "No."

"Yes," the twins said.

"I don't know which is more surprising: Ron and Pansy snogging or you two watching them," Hermione said, trying not to laugh.

"Surprising or creepy?" Harry grinned.

"Look, we already plan to Obliviate each other of the memory of watching Ron snog someone," George growled. "But that's not the worst part."

"They're actually dating now."

"Already?!" Harry and Hermione said at the same time.

"Well Ron asked her to Hogsmeade this weekend and she said yes. She also mentioned that she is going to force him to study because she won't date an idiot and he agreed," Fred said hollowly.

"Which now Malfoy is running around screaming his blonde head off about losing Parkinson and he has sworn bloody vengeance on whoever orchestrated this 'grand betrayal'," George sighed.

"Which normally, any reason Malfoy is pissy is a reason for celebration if it wasn't...you know...everything."

"Because now we have to decide if we fess up to the new couple, take credit or not, fake credit or not, explain things to Mum..."

The twins both looked at Hermione. "Also yeah, we should apologize to you. So yeah, we're sorry." Without another word they got up and staggered away, looking concussed over the consequences of their actions.

"Why did the apologize to me?" Hermione asked, confused.

Harry shrugged. "No idea. Maybe they thought you had a thing for Ron?"

She snorted. "Hardly. I'm more angry that he is studying for her and he ignored me for years when I told him he needed to study."

Harry laughed. "Yeah, I can't wait to make fun of him for that."

Hermione pursed her lips. "So, Ron and Pansy? Well, odder things have happened I suppose."

Harry nodded. "As long as they're happy I guess."

"Besides, it does make some things easier," she said softly. She took his hand. "Maybe we should thank the twins?"

Harry smiled. "No need to encourage them unless you want to be the target of their next prank."

She smiled. "Not at all. But now we can double date with Ron and Pansy. Won't that be fun?"

"I honestly have no idea."
