#HeroicTrials
"You have got to be kidding me. You've had me make up a completely different outfit, just to wear it out in a junkyard? Ugh, What a day.." Complained a disgusted Zee, not at all happy with where they ended up next as she looked around at their trash filled surroundings.
True to her words, Zatanna did conjure up a new outfit. Her hero attire, to be more precise, complete with a cape! Heck, to add a bit more pazazz to her new appearance, she blended her magic into her hair to make it shimmer and glow.
"Hush! Diana and Izuku know what they're doing... I think." Batgirl whispered.
"Soldiers!" Diana called, making her 'sisters' flinch before standing at attention. As she did on the rooftop, the Amazon once again found herself pacing before them, Izuku standing patiently close by. "As you are aware, our mission is to save the world of man!"
"Oh, yeah!" Babs cheered.
"However, if we are to accomplish that."
"Prrreach it, sista!"
"We must first learn to save..."
"Who are we savin'?!"
"Man, himself!" Diana stopped her movement, pointing towards a display of four mannequins set up nearby. It was awkward at first as the girls weren't exactly staring at man; the mannequins all being the female model.
"Um, Diana? I think those are ladies. Not men.." Karen pointed out.
Spider-Man took it upon himself to explain the 'mistake'. "Yeah, sorry for the confusion. Heh.. We couldn't find any male mannequins lying around, so we just went with the next best thing. Why there's so many female mannequins lying about here, I have no idea. But, we had to take what we can get."
"A-Ah, that makes sense.. Carry on." Karen responded, zipping her mouth and allowing the lesson to resume.
"Before we proceed to the exercises me and Spider-Man have set up for you all, all of which will play to your own individual strengths, we will first demonstrate what it is we expect from each of you at the end of the day." Causing no further delay, Diana looked to Izuku with an expectant look. "Spider-Man, would you care to do the honors?"
Glancing at the tall stack of wrecked cars that were dangerously close to tipping over on the mannequins, Izuku smirked and nodded in acceptance. "Sure. Don't mind if I do."
With that, he stepped up and readied himself to make a mad dash, planning out his every move while he had the chance.
With bated breath, the students observed as their male instructor got into position to show them how heroing is done, waiting for Diana to start them off.
"Are you ready?" Diana asked, prepping to topple the car tower using a metal plate she picked up.
"..Let's do this." Spider-Man replied confidently.
"Go!" Throwing the metal plate, Diana brought upon the car tower's destruction.
Not wasting time, Izuku shot forward at Diana's call. Initially, the car tower swayed slightly upon being hit, doing so rather briefly before inevitably collapsing. Izuku didn't waste the opportunity given there as he had used it to create a cobweb at an opening between two other, more smaller, vehicle stacks.
Then, to close the gap between him and the 'citizens' faster, he shot a web line at one of the cars and zipped forward, getting some air time while doing so. In the process, he drop kicked a lone car that managed to stray from the pile, causing it to tumble away before it could crush the dummies. When his feet hit the ground, he immediately grabbed and tossed the mannequins over to the cobweb, getting them out of harm's way as they landed securely on the durable net. That was the easy part, as things just got a whole lot tricky for Izuku from there.
His spider-sense going wild, time slowed down for the young hero upon seeing the car tower about to make a bloody pancake out of him, being just a mere second away from burying him with rusty metal. Jumping off to the side or backwards were absolutely not recommended options, as the vehicles were already too far spread by that point, and there's so little time. He knew that his only chance of survival... was to go right through them.
That in mind, Izuku closed his eyes... before jumping at the falling wreckage.
Allowing his sixth sense to guide him out of this mess, Izuku first spiraled through a truck's front windows before flipping onto the hood of a car. Next, he kicked off said car to run along the side of a van, then skipping over and around a few other vehicles. For this last part, he opened his eyes and looked up to see a van stripped of its backdoors, seeing the sun staring down at him through the perfect opening. Ready to finish this, Izuku attached two web lines to the van and slung himself through the narrow opening. Doing so with an elegant spin.
And like that, time reverted back to its normal state as the wreckage had finally crumbled completely, and loudly, kicking up dirt and dust everywhere as it temporarily blinded the girls.
"IZUKU!" Barbara cried, using her cape to shield her eyes. The others were just as worried as when the dust eventually settled, they instantly got to looking around for Izuku. They didn't need to search long however, as knelt atop of the new wreckage that were the fallen vehicles was Izuku himself, standing calmly once he got his bearings. They had stressed for nothing as he looked very much alive and didn't have so much as a scratch on his suit.
"I'm all right! I'm okay! Don't worry!" Izuku chuckled as he waved high at the girls, the eyes to his mask squinting as he smiled underneath. That seemed to put the students worries at ease as they all simultaneously sighed in relief.
"Oh, dios mio.. I thought for sure he had gotten hurt for a moment there." Jessica said, pressing a hand to her poor, frightened heart.
"You said it.." Karen groaned, rubbing her head as that whole ordeal stressed her out to the max.
"Okay.. That... was pretty badass." Kara said in a mix of shock and amazement.
"Seriously.." Zee concurred in a similar fashion, nodding.
'I knew he could do it.' Thought Diana, smiling proudly at the undeniably talented greenette.
'Totally... the best... day... ever!' Barbara cheered internally as she gazed at her bestie in admiration, stars glowing in her widened eyes.
"So, who's next?" Izuku hummed, no doubt grinning underneath that mask of his.

At his words, the girls, excluding Diana, tensed, gulping as they shot nervous glances at one another, wondering which trainee had the courage to step up.
In the end, Kara made herself the first one to go as she now stood in the midst of a mannequin crowd, looking up at Diana standing atop of another car tower for a moment before looking to Izuku nearby, who began giving her instructions.
"All right, Kara. Your job here is simple. All you gotta do is basically do what I did, but in your own way, and at the cost of much more casualties. We took your powers into consideration and we thought this... increase in difficulty might be closer to your level. Think you can handle it?"
"Pfft! Like you even need to ask." Kara smirked smugly as she stared back at the car tower and prepped herself for her trial, her arrogance taking full control.
'Let's hope you chose your words wisely.' Izuku stifled, causing no further delay as he looked to Diana. "Okay, Diana! Do it!"
In response, Diana nodded before promptly kicking off the car pile, her legs pushing with enough strength to cause said pile to fall towards Kara and the dummies.
What happened next could only be described as an utter failure of a result, as Kara's 'strategy' simply involved her flying up at the wreckage and giving it a mighty punch. She had the gull to stay afloat proudly afterwards as she, for a moment, believed she had succeeded. Oh, how wrong she was as when she saw the other trainees looking on in horror while Diana and Izuku glared in disapproval, Kara cried in shock upon looking below her to see all the mannequins having been torn to shreds by the carnage her punch had created.
Obviously, her 'effort' earned her a big fat F.
Taking a break after that ugly incident, the super teens opted to use this chance to teach Diana more about the modern world, dressing back into their street clothes. Barbara being the first one to choose where they go, she decided on taking them to a nearby comic book store.
"Normal teenager lesson #4: Pop Culture!" Barbara said upon opening the door to the store, all of them greeted to the sight of many comic books and such displayed about.
'Hmm, not bad. Not nearly as good as the shops in Akihabara, but still, not bad.' Were Izuku's inital thoughts on the place as they entered.
"Really? You consider this culture? Please tell me you're joking." Zee groaned as she picked up a random comic as if it was trash, a comic that just so happened to capture Barbara's attention as it was swiftly swiped from the magician's grasp.
"O-M-Gosh! You're kidding! A super rare Batman giant super special issue with a limited edition pull-out Batman poster! I've looked everywhere in Gotham for this, but could never find it! Oh-ho! Man, I'd kill for this!" Babs cheered while pointing the comic book towards the heavens. Or, in this case, the store ceiling.
"Barbara!" Diana exclaimed, forcing Babs to face her after grabbing her shoulders. "How could you say such a thing! We are supposed to protect the innocent, not engage in senseless slaughter over something as ridiculous as possessing material goods." Before her worries could escalate, Jessica took it upon herself to explain the redhead's words.
"Diana, relax. She doesn't really mean that. Believe it or not, what she said is actually a common expression used in the modern world. A figure of speech." To find something to use as an example, Jessica guided them back outside the shop and spotted a burrito cart just across the street, giving her a good idea on how to explain herself. "Like, for instance, let's say you're really hungry and are craving for a burrito. You'd say 'I'd kill for a burrito!' Now, you see that burrito cart over there? How about you go and give it a shot." She finished, pointing over at said burrito cart with a smile.
Believing that she had a clear enough idea, Diana took a breath before doing what was asked of her. However, that fierce look on her face was quick to unnerve Izuku.
'Uh oh..' He gulped, and right to do so.
Letting Diana go off on her own turned out to be a big mistake, as upon approaching the cart, Diana nearly gave the poor man behind it a heart attack. "I will kill you for a burrito!" The Amazon yelled, slapping her hands on the cart as she caused the owner to shriek and run off. Diana wasn't having that, as she immediately gave chase while waving her money around. "Coward! Accept my payment, or perish!"
Her actions caused everyone to gasp, then they followed her lead and sprinted off to stop her before she did any real harm.
"Diana, NO! Bad Amazon! Heel, girl! HEEEL!" Barbara shouted urgently, whistling as they ran after Diana. It would take some time before they eventually caught up to her.
As they did that, they failed to notice the people mindlessly, and not to mention dangerously, wandering the street with those same virtual reality glasses Barbara had seen earlier.
Hmm, how odd.
Back to training, it was Zatanna's turn to strut her stuff. Her trial was made up of a small group of mannequin civies being strung along a moving conveyor belt, and towards the impact zone of an active trash compactor. Needless to say, her objective was clear.
It's a shame she ended up failing miserably as she really took her time making a spectacle of herself and her magic before completing her task, the mannequins having long been crushed by the time she was done turning off the machine with a simple flick of a switch.
Yet another understandable 'F' given, Izuku thought as he shook his head in dismay, Zee looking at her screw up with regret while Babs patted her shoulder comfortingly.
Next up was Bumblebee..
You'd think her trial would be easy for any super to accomplish, as all she had to do was prevent a vicious, hungry dog from reaching the mannequin behind her that had a piece of raw steak roped to its face; one that nearly made a hardcore vegetarian like Jessica hurl upon putting it on. However, with Karen having her unfortunate luck and crazy lack of courage, her 'F' was guaranteed when, in her small form, her rocket launchers failed to launch when the dog was released by Izuku and she ended up flying away from the rampaging canine and towards Diana over by a wooden fence, allowing the dog to savagely feast on the free meal given to it. That made Karen feint on Diana's shoulder as she knew that could've been her.
Three F's in a row... So far, Izuku was not liking this one bit..
Taking a second break to carry on with Diana's own lessons, Zee chose where to go this time around, opting to take her and her new friends to her favorite spa in town.
"Normal Teenager Lesson #26: ...Er, Wait, hold up, what are we doing here again?" Barbara asked in confusion, dipping her feet in a pail of warm water while sitting in one of the spa's rather comfy chairs next to Zee, Diana, Karen and Jessica in that order. Obviously, she failed to see what visiting a spa had to do with being a normal everyday teen. As for Izuku and Kara, they occupied a sofa nearby. Kara simply lounged while on her phone, and Izuku took this opportunity to catch a little nap.
"Isn't it obvious? We're pampering ourselves, of course." Zee answered while in a tranquil state, getting premium treatment from some of the spa workers. "I can't speak for the boys, but I know that an important part of being a teenage girl, is that you must take the time to care of yourself. Plus, don't you just find this to be incredibly relaxing~" The purplette sighed as she melted into her seat.
Not comfortable with getting pampered in such a way, Diana couldn't say the same as she just now managed to shoo away the workers that tried tending to her. She definitely didn't make their jobs easy as she had spent the whole time struggling stubbornly. "And in the world of man, the... toenail is the point of focus?" Diana questioned.
"Precisely! Fun, isn't it?" Zee chirped before continuing to enjoy her relaxation time.
"I would not go that far.." Diana replied before the voice of a masseuse caught her attention by her feet, startling her as she came out of nowhere.
"My, such enormous calluses. Looks like I'll need to bring out the big guns for this job." Said the brave woman as she suddenly pulled out a machine that Diana quickly mistook for a weapon.
"Sisters! This woman has a weapon! Two can play at that game! Taste my blade, fiend!" Diana cried as she suddenly whipped out of her sword, jumping up on her seat before dashing to strike down the baffled masseuse, who was quick to dip upon realizing that she'd indeed taste the Amazon's blade.
"Oh, not again! Diana, stop! That's not a weapon!" Zee panicked as she and the others girls found themselves chasing after Diana once more out of the spa, Zee preserving her modesty with the robe she wore.
"...Seriously?" Kara groaned upon witnessing the hilarious event, rolling her eyes as she nonchalantly stood and exited the spa.
Like the others, she completely forgot about Izuku as his unconscious form fell sideways to take up her spot, still snoozing about as he nuzzled into the sofa's warmth.
An employee would wake him up once their shock had settled.
When hero training resumed, Barbara was next to do her exercise. Which tasked her with saving a cute little cat plushy that was stuck on a withered tree's branch in the distance as fast as she can. All the while maneuvering her way through a crowd of mannequins.
Out of all his students, Izuku had high hopes for Babs, and prayed that she'd be the first one to pass their exercise. Boy, was he wrong to do that. While she did save the plushy, she failed right off the bat when she ended up wrecking the innocent mannequins using both her gadgets and sick martial art skills. Which were NOT baddies mind you. Her moves and use of her gadgets impressed Izuku, that he won't deny. However, she failed regardless.
Dang butterfly... distracting her when they were giving her their instructions.
Being the last student to go, Jessica's assignment had her believing that all she needed to do was keep some mannequins away from an excavator Batgirl operated. However, it wouldn't be so simple as Wonder Woman encouraged her to also go on the offensive against the machine. But, unfortunately, Jessica stood by her pacifist ways and refused to fight.
That decision proved to be... unwise as once the trial commenced, Green Lantern was quick, and foolish, to assume she'd passed so easily as she covered her training mannequins using a safe she constructed before pushing them to safety someways away. In a surprise twist, the mannequins weren't actually the real targets. Which Diana and Izuku made clear when they pointed over their shoulders at Kara, who was then 'eaten' alive by the excavator clamps courtesy of Babs. That had rendered Green Lantern utterly stunned and terrified instantly.
Ultimately, Kara was fine as it didn't take long before she easily broke free of the clamps unscathed, relieving Jessica of her intense stress.
And with that, they all failed so, so, so... horribly. Which Spider-Man and Wonder Woman realized as they sighed in unison after glancing hopelessly at each other.
( End of Song! )
To cool off from the disaster that were the exercises, the teens continued on with Diana's teen lessons, taking a trip to the movie theater to... well, catch a movie for the next one.
Being the gentleman he is, Izuku allowed the girls to choose the movie. He'd come to regret that decision as the girls voted on seeing possibly the most cheesiest, ridiculously acted, and just plain dumbest teen drama flick he had ever seen. And don't even get him started on the funny look of some of the characters, especially the main guy. Yeesh! To make matters all the more surprising, as if they didn't see the film's obvious flaws, the girls were absolutely engrossed in watching it. Well, except for Kara and Diana as the Kryptonian was fast asleep while the Amazonian had some difficulty following along.
With their group taking up almost an entire row, Izuku was seated right in the middle of said group. To his right were Babs, Jessica and Kara, and to his left were Diana, Karen, and Zee.
"The cringe... Oh, the criiinge.." Izuku muttered to himself as he struggled not to groan at the horrid acting occurring on screen, wincing as it all threatened to give him a wicked headache by how baaad it was. If he knew that Normal Teenager Lesson #86 required him to suffer through this mental torture, he'd have chosen to wait for them outside before he bought his stupid ticket.
"She just needs time, Aiden. It's only been, like, two days. If she texts you after three days. That's totally, like, irrevocable looove."
"This movie's gonna be the death of me.." Izuku finally groaned as he leaned his head against his fist, sputtering as this was going to be a long hour or two. Shooting a glance over at Barbara, he raised a brow at how close the scene was to bringing her to tears, stifling as he just couldn't see how this film could be having such an effect on them. Nevertheless, as long as they're enjoying themselves, he'd happily keep his trap shut. As much as a part of him wanted to eagerly leave.
"Karen? May I ask what is happening?" Diana inquired as she leaned slightly towards Karen, keeping her eyes locked on the screen in confusion.
Being a big fan of the movie and the franchise it belonged to, Karen was glad to answer any questions Diana may have about it. "Oh, the main character, Aiden, is finally realizing how he can't go on anymore without Kaitlin in his life, but that girl, Alexandra, is assuring him that Kaitlin won't message him until tomorrow because that's exactly what Micheal didn't do for her when they broke up. Haa~ it's all just so... sad and beautiful at the same time, don't you think?" Karen finished as she gave a Diana a gentle side hug before scooting back to her seat.
"...Teenage boys are very confusing.." Was all Diana got out of that whole breakdown.
"No kidding." The other girls all sighed at once. Except Kara for obvious reasons.
"Are we really?" Izuku mouthed perplexingly as he looked down at himself in wonder, unsure if he should feel offended for his gender or not.
Some time later, the movie appeared to be reaching its climax as the main character popped up at his love interest's house, unable to wait any longer to see her. As this 'Aiden' character approached 'Kaitlin', the whole scene took a very dramatic when the girl turned to face him, causing Izuku to moan irritably while the girls sighed in adoration.
Thankfully, his suffering would come to an end sooner than expected as when 'Aiden' moved in to kiss his girl, Diana took it to mean that he intended to cause this 'Kaitlin' harm. Jeez, how sheltered can one be to not even know what a kiss is? That'd be a stupid question if they knew how Diana lived for the last three centuries.
"Beware, Kaitlin! Aiden attacks!" Diana shouted as she once again took out her sword and started jumping around the theater to slash at the screen, tearing it apart almost completely within seconds.
"What? No! Diana, that's not what he's doing! He's just trying to..." Karen held that thought for a bit as the screen fell over them and the now complaining crowd. The exotic beauty having completely ruined the movie for everyone present. "kiss her.." She finished sadly.
"How did we not see this coming?" Zee asked with exasperation, her deadpan eyes peeking through a hole of the screen.
After the whole commotion, Kara snorted awake before looking around like a lost tired child. "Hmm, what'd I miss?"
Unbeknownst to the girls, Izuku's face displayed a hidden smile as Diana's action offered him some sick sense of elation. "Oh, thank you, Diana..!" He whispered.
"What was that, bestie?"
"Nothing~!"
